chrissie1297 (10/5): Fantastic - My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and we cannot recommend it enough. Everything about our stay was fabulous. From the incredible food to the stunning treehouse rooms, every detail felt special. The beach is beautifully raw and unspoiled. The staff go above and beyond. Carlos, Ismael, marcelo, David and the entire team were amazing throughout our stay. It was the perfect honeymoon escape and we would go back in a heartbeat.

And yet right outside, there was a bustling street with plenty of shopping and tons of amazing food options. Every member of staff made us feel at home and cared for. I loved waking up to my morning coffee and getting to hear the sound of the waves on the beach. My teenage son is looking forward to returning again next year. There isn’t anything I would change.

The food & drinks are amazing and delicious. The rooms are clean and has working AC. Also the hotel is at very good location with shops, cafes, bars around. Overall stay is outstanding and would definitely recommend and come back again.

I’d particularly like to mention David, who was very attentive, professional and took great care with my son’s food allergy. But the whole team genuinely cares about making guests feel at home. We had never been to Tulum before and didn’t know much about what we were getting in to— the staff at Alaya were there as a resource every step of the way. Rodrigo, David, and Carlos were especially helpful in providing amazing recommendations, booking reservations for us, and accommodating requests promptly and with so much hospitality. It truly felt like home for the 6 nights we stayed! Beyond the incredible staff, the hotel is beautiful, food is amazing, and the beach is unreal. We would definitely book this spot again and have already recommended it to our friends!!!

The staff was wonderful-- Sofia and Daniel and the others made us feel welcome, and were very sweet about my son's birthday. Everything went smoothly and easily from the planning stage through the entire trip. Highly recommend!

kimfZ8503DP (10/5): Beautiful Stay - My partner and I stayed at Alaya to celebrate our anniversary, it was also our first time in Tulum. We picked Alaya for its eco-friendly standards, beautiful rooms, and direct beach access. It did not disappoint! The very first night we were greeted by Daniel and given an introduction and were shown up to our room. It was beautiful, and they had given us a little treat for our celebration, so kind! For the rest of the stay, all the concierge staff (Daniel, Sofia, Erikk) were extremely helpful, attentive and quick to respond. Can’t thank them enough. As well, Marcelo and the kitchen staff were the best. Marcelo greeted us at every breakfast and made sure we were taken care of at the beach, shout outs to him! The only thing that wasn’t optimal was that the very first night our unit didn’t have water, however the concierge was advised and they got to work on it immediately - we had water the next morning. Overall - beautiful stay (amazing breakfast included, great beach loungers, restaurant with delicious food, swimming right in front, free yoga and qi gong, great location) would highly recommend Alaya!

Marcelo and Macario made dinners and breakfasts very enjoyable. Great food, attentive service, and fun conversation made our time very memorable. Tuna tostadas at the beach for lunch should be on your to do list while you are here.
A6284MCmariak (10/5): A special place for a beachfront getaway! - Alaya is a perfect place to rest and recharge. The staff was kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the beach front accommodation and watched the beautiful sunrise every morning. That was a treat. Alaya is secluded and quiet. The staff was very attentive and even brought us a special bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant serves delicious local food and the staff is happy to accommodate any special requests. Everyone made you feel like you are part of their family, but they also respect your privacy. We did yoga and a sound bath which was very special. Our room was attended to everyday and the staff helped us with anything we needed. We highly recommend Alaya if you are looking for a special place for a beach front getaway. We’ll definitely be back!!
943melaniep (10/5): Beautiful setting to unwind and reset - Alaya was the host of a mindfulness retreat I attended, and it was the perfect setting to unwind and reset. The beach is the beautiful spot to sit and watch the sunrise and the yoga space was like being in a tree house! The rooms were comfortable and the screened in deck was a nice addition for private space. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and the meals were delicious, healthy and of the local vibe! The resort is a little off of the main drag of loud bars which was a perfect spot, as they are still walkable if you want to get there. I would stay in this sanctuary again if returning to Tulum!

The property is stunning and offers a beautiful connection to nature that makes it feel both peaceful and special. Diane (8/5): A beautiful setting against the backdrop of the ocean and the palm trees - It was in a beautiful setting right on the beach and backed by the jungle. It was very chilled and quiet. We are not fans of blaring music while sunbathing, reading etc, so we were pleased they didn’t play music. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, always asking if we were happy and if they could do anything for us. The concierge team were very informative and found quieter restaurants that didn’t pump out the music. We loved having a morning drink brought to our balcony. The views were stunning We loved how accessible it was to walk to restaurants in the evening compared to Tulum centro The bathroom/shower facilities were fairly basic, eg a wonky tap on the sink. We experienced a lot of wind and crashing waves, so it made it quite hard to sleep. I do appreciate it’s in a natural setting though. We found Tulum South beach very expensive. It’s a shame because it makes you order less drinks etc. We were also disappointed that there was a lack of live music. We avoided some restaurants because the music was just too loud. We love music, but not when you can’t have a conversation
Resort53138126105 (10/5): Comfortable, friendly and relaxing stay with plenty to do! - Comfortable, friendly and relaxing stay with plenty to do! My stay at Alaya Tulum was amazing, from the moment I booked my stay I was contacted via WhatsApp by the service desk to confirm transportation to the hotel and to answer any questions I may have. Upon arrival me and my girlfriend got a couple complimentary drinks and even a welcome bottle of sparkling wine in our room. The property has a nice natural setting and full of palms, trees and climbing vines amongst the rooms. There are little notes around pointing out wild critters that may pass through the grounds at night (raccoons, coati, stripped iguanas and opossums). The beach is kept clear and clean each day and offers a great swimming spot at low tide. Or you can chill on the lounge chairs with coconuts or drinks from the hotel. The hotel not only offers daily yoga sessions in the mornings but every now and then meditations. The yoga was a pretty great way to stretch out before a snorkel trip. There are also many excursions you can book through the hotel like the biosphere tours, snorkelling, ruins tours and cenote visits or you can rent some bikes and go do some cenote hopping. The staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming. Erik and Sofia were always at the front desk to help with questions or to make arrangements. Marcelo always made me and my girlfriend feel at home at Alaya Tulum if we ordered drinks he would happily offer to bring it to our rooms if we wanted and reccomended some great drinks.

It is so magical to watch the sunrise from your room. The stuff is so sweet and helpful.. anytime I ask something they would reply within five minutes and take care of any desires. I would definitely recommend this place. The location is amazing too. It’s so close to so many restaurants and shop.

bjfjr (10/5): Loved our stay here! - My wife and I loved our stay here in early March. The Alaya Tulum property is beautifully laid out with its own private beach. The rooms are like airy bungalows and well appointed. The toilet, shower and sink all worked! We had plenty of hot water, a fresh drinking water urn that was topped off daily and the AC kept us very comfortable. The daily housekeeping service kept our room clean and stocked. The service and staff were exceptional, from the reception/concierge staff – high-fives to Sophia, Daniel and the rest of the team who received us warmly and were very helpful throughout our stay – to the restaurant wait-staff, to the house and grounds keepers. All of them were considerate, friendly, helpful and very professional. The option of having breakfast delivered to your room or just walking to take it at the cozy restaurant was a nice treat for us. We plan to return with friends next time! Highly recommend!

The Bali inspired layed back quiet tropical hotel is super clean, located along an amazing stretch of beach in the Tulum Hotel zone with a pristine sandy beach area. The staff was outstanding, from the reception crew of Sophia and Daniel, always ready to fulfill any need, to Managers William and Rodriguez and the amazingly attentive waiters including Marcello. Great place to kick back and re-energize yourself. Thank you all, including JP, for making our stay unforgetable, even Tennesse and Whiskey had the time of their lives. See you again soon!

Ali Elisabeth (8/5): - Een echt ‘Tulum’ hotel op een hele goede locatie. Verder vriendelijk personeel. Vanuit je kamer loop je zo het strand op. Bakken water staan netjes bij de ingang om je voeten af te spoelen. Kamers waren naar verwachting maar voor de prijs die je betaalt is het wel een eenvoudig hotel. Geen luxe maar gewoon basic. Prijs kwaliteit viel dus echt tegen maar dat is overal in Tulum. Alles, echt alles is daar zooo ontzettend duur. Dit heeft onze ervaring een beetje vertroebeld.

499brianneh (6/5): Beautiful Hotel but Weird Experience - The hotel itself was beautiful. The staff were exceptional and very kind. We really enjoyed the location, the yoga, the daily coffee, and overall ambiance of the hotel. We had a very weird experience checking out where we were asked to pay $57 for a new towel and a new sheet, because they could not get the makeup off the towel. We were three female travelers and were in town for a wedding and birthday celebration. There was no signage or indication that we couldn't use the towel to wash our face. I've never in my life experienced being charged for using a towel and getting makeup on it. It felt very strange and manipulative. Beware of using the towels for washing your face if you don't want to be charged. We were also charged for "blood on the sheet", which none of us were bleeding; to be charged for this was absurd. In the end, they gave us the "sale price" of 50% off. Bizarre. It's a beautiful hotel, but we felt very knit picked and cornered at check out.
momxthree787 (10/5): Just another day in paradise - Alaya has been incredible. The service is outstanding and the beach is absolutely stunning. You can easily spend the whole day lounging in the super comfy beach chairs, hiding under an umbrella, playing in the waves, and sipping margaritas—basically heaven on earth. Loved having morning coffee and ginger shots delivered to the room, and the yoga classes have all been different but amazing. It’s included for guests, though tipping is appreciated. Breakfast (included add on) has lots of great options and consistently excellent. Our room is gorgeous and has everything you need—little touches like filtered water and a beach bag go a long way. Housekeeping is on point with daily cleaning and nightly turndown. I’ve felt completely safe both on and off the property. The location is perfect: a quieter stretch of Tulum but still just steps from all the action.

The people were all so nice and helpful, Sofía, Daniel and all people who were at the reception were super responsive and always polite and friendly, most of all: positive. We felt safe, pampered :)) and could relax. The hotel itself is beautiful, private and felt like being in a paradise spot. If we come back to Mexico one day, we said both: we go to Alaya then. Don't even think twice about it: just go and get to know a piece of heaven 🤍 the breakfast was good too, you can even enjoy it at the beach! And everyday we had coffee and biscuits delivered to our porch for free! Ah and even when weather is bad: you can do different kinds of Yoga or other offers of the hotel and just do stuff you probably never did before. Best experience ever, really! Also the small restaurant inside the Hotel offers good choices either for breakfast, lunch and dinner with delicious food. Thanks to Sofia who did take so good care of us from the check in through out our stay, which, unfortunately was just for one night.
witeroze926 (10/5): Alaya Experience - We booked the main house La Casa, Casa Alaya, for my cousin's bachelorette. It was wonderful, the rooms and common area was beautiful. Every shower was lovely stocked with all the necessities, even the outside shower. The pool was a good temperature and offered stunning ocean views. We hired a nice private chef to cook us brekky while we enjoy the pool and beach view. The staff were incredibly hospitable and made us feel right at home, Sofia was especially helpful. 10/10 recommend!!

kimberlywA5010GP (10/5): Incredible Stay - My friends and I rented Casa Alaya as well as a couple of additional rooms at Alaya Tulum for my bachelorette this October. Leading up to the stay, the concierge team was absolutely fantastic. They helped us with booking our airport transfer, restaurant reservations, cenote club reservations, and even helping me find and hire a private chef to surprise my friends with for a delicious brunch. They were extremely responsive to every question and super helpful. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, a little paradise on the beach. The location can’t be beat either. It’s just a 7-8 minute walk from some of the best restaurants and clubs along Tulum beach. I would absolutely recommend Alaya for anyone who is doing a friend’s trip or even just a couples’ trip.

The whole place is stunning and so tranquil. It’s hard to describe the feeling in words; you simply have to experience it yourself. The only sad part is having to leave. The staff is incredible — from the reception and restaurant to the cleaning team and security. Everyone goes above and beyond. The security staff even looks after the turtle nests on the beach, and I was deeply impressed by the care and attention they gave to the little ones about to hatch. Every detail here matters, and it truly shows.

Relax68443318608 (10/5): A Bohemian Paradise - Alaya was a paradise for my wife and my friends and I. The staff was absolutely amazing. They made sure our stay was not only comfortable, but absolutely amazing. Imagine waking up in a jungle paradise to walk out only a few feet to white sand beaches in beautiful Tulum. You cannot go wrong with staying at Alaya. It is very close to local shops and restaurants as well as a few nice drinking establishments! The rooms were incredible! Each with their own AC, balcony or porch, indoor and outdoor seating as well as an esthetic thst just takes your breath away. The staff came and found us to show us the hatching sea turtles and let us help gather them from their nests to be released in the safety of the night. They were attentive, remembered our names and faces, and handled any need we had. Alaya is a Bohemian escape from real life and everyone should experience it at least once! We will be coming back to experience it again in the future. And the price tag was not even that expensive! Great value!
B5414ENdebbiem (10/5): Perfection - Alaya is perfect. When we get to Tulum we go right to Alaya and never leave. The staff and chefs are amazing. We go to the beach for sunrise and friendship then we linger over breakfast, grab a book and go down to the beach. Someone inevitably does the "I'm thirsty" stare and we have drinks and snacks and sometimes a full lunch on the beach. After the lunch siesta we visit with each other and then depending on what happened at lunch we have dinner and retire early. All of this made possible by a caring and amazing staff
scottpG8069BL (10/5): First time to Tulum. - We had an Awesome stay at the Alaya. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was clean, had a great view. The food was very good. This was a very small and comfortable resort, our stay was very enjoyable. The time of year that we stayed was apparently seaweed season, so the beaches were full of seaweed and you could not get into the water. But with that, we had smaller crowds so the local places to eat and drink weren’t crowded. Thank you Sofia and all the staff for making our stay an enjoyable one!
Jasbir (10/5): - Cute property. Well maintained. Staff courteous and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and simple, not many options. Rooms clean and beautifully decorated. Close to restaurants walkable felt safe in the area. The view was magnificent. You could walk out directly to the beach, which was just a few steps away. View were welcomed with a bottle of champagne on arrival. Beds were comfortable. My only complaint is the mosquitoes, but the staff used citronella candles and offered bug repellent lotion/sprays. We visited in September, but apparently that is a breeding season of the mosquitoes. I don’t know if some sort of mosquito repellent sprays by pest control could be done. But overall pleasant stay. Will definitely come back and stay at the property..

El único tema a tener en cuenta antes de viajar es averiguar si es época de salgazo que es un alga que ocupa las costas y es muy molesta para entrar al mar y tiene olor. Pero el hotel es precioso, limpio y la atención es excelente. Tienen convenio con otro hotel para ir a la piscina con una consumición. Y también con un museo muy interesante. Además está ubicado cerca de varios restaurantes. Una experiencia muy completa.
Marcia (6/5): - The place itself was beautiful, but the beach was dirty and smelled terrible, so I couldn’t even use it. On top of that, the breakfast situation was a complete disappointment. I booked this hotel because it advertised breakfast included, yet when I asked, they only offered me coffee and said I had to pay for everything else. That’s misleading and unacceptable. Because of this, I refused to eat any meals at the hotel. The prices were ridiculously high for tourists. Even the taxis arranged by the hotel were outrageously expensive, clearly taking advantage of visitors. Yes, the location is nice, but I would never recommend this hotel. I wasted a lot of money in a very short time and left feeling completely frustrated. Definitely not worth it.

Carrie (1/5): Awful. - The hotel absolutely stunk. They have a HUGE problem with Sargassum seaweed. Piles of it rotting on the beach - and no access to the sea. The hotel has no swimming pool so its offering is 100% based around the beach which was just gross. Added bonus stray dogs wandering around the hotel. It was so bad we checked out even though they refused to give us a refund. The overall cleanliness was appalling. The smell of ammonia from the piles and piles of rotting seaweed was truly awful. The room was small and smaller of damp….and stay dogs wandering around the hotel.

Au regard du prix payé, cet hôtel est très en dessous de la prestation attendue.

Excellent service from all the staff. Special mention to Sofia, Daniel and Rodri on the front desk who were all super helpful with booking transport, restaurant recommendations and arranging access to the nearby beach club with swimming pool. We had breakfast included and the choice was very good along with the service from Macario. Lovely touch getting coffee / ginger shot brought to the room in the morning. Room very clean and high standards from the house keeping team too. Would highly recommend this hotel. Good location for visiting the Cenotes nearby. Local taxis are expensive though in Tulum
Rebecca (8/5): A beautiful hotel on the beach with lovely staff. - Beautifully designed, with lovely attention to detail. Loved the rustic shower! Great location and lovely bar area on the beach (shame about the sargassum this time of year). Very attentive staff who were always very helpful and we liked the delicious included breakfast too. Unusually quiet when we stayed, so felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! We stayed in the family villa for 3 nights. We enjoyed it and it was very comfortable and nicely designed but the ‘separate sleeping area’ with bunk beds for our teenage sons was basically in the corridor leading to the bathroom and was not its own separate room. It was fine and the boys weren’t bothered by it, although they described it as ‘sleeping in a cupboard’! We didn’t spent much time at the hotel so it wasn’t an issue, but it just wasn’t very clear in the hotel description of the family villa that the additional sleeping area would be so compact!

It’s central so there is outside walking distance or bike lots of restaurants coffee shops bars and shops. There is no pool which we didn’t notice when we booked but they let us use the one in the hotel next door which was fantastic. The food in the hotel restaurant was very good too! Loved every second the perfect vacation!

chrisjfaulkner (10/5): Heaven on Earth! - This hotel is a little piece of heaven on Earth. From the moment we arrived we relaxed and we will be very sorry to leave. The hotel is in a lovely setting by the beach with rooms built in amongst the trees feeling more like luxury tree houses. Our family room was perfect for us and our 2 teenage girls with a separate area having bunk beds. The service at this hire is second to none with nothing being too much trouble. We would like to particular thank Sofia, Daniel, Macario and Rodrigo for looking after us so well. The team at the hotel were able to help recommend and organise tables at restaurants and trips. Particular highlights were the trip to Sian Kaan biosphere with livingdreamsmexico and an incredible meal at Casa Banana (you have to try their beetroot salad and steaks). If you are looking for a small boutique hotel in Tulum then look no further.

papapromo (10/5): Tulum Beach gem - Our stay was in the Villa, Casa Alaya My review is actually a 4.5, I think a rating of excellent needs to be flawless and very few properties fit that requirement. However, Alaya Tulum was definitely close enough. Excellence: Service in every aspect, even though on some days they were short handed. From Beachside to concierge to maintenance to cleaning services to security they were always available within a minute's notice. A special acknowledgement for Mario Henry, we felt like he was our personal bartender and waiter. He was very attentive and friendly and definitely went above and beyond Great: The Villa was very comfortable. Kept super clean by the staff, great temperature all day, pool cleaned daily, fresh towels daily. Beautiful views and unique architecture. The entire property feels like treehouses and you are steps from the beach. The complimentary Breakfast was spot on, especially the Huevos Rancheros Good: Lunch options were minimal, but decent and unfortunately dinner was kind of a bust. The restaurant is small and warm, especially in the evening. However, being in Tulum there are several really good restaurants 5-10 minute walk up the road....so no big deal as we only ordered dinner 1 night at Alaya. Drinks were good and not too expensive All in all it was a great stay. We really appreciated the staff, always working hard with a smile.

My room felt like a treehouse and the grounds were natural and simple. The hotel staff was very friendly and offered a lot of recommendations for my stay. I visited Yaan Wellness by their recommendations and it was the highlight of my stay.

Stefan in the front desk was so incredibly helpful in helping me coordinate my day to take a fuller advantage of sightseeing, and local inland shopping and entertainment. On our last night, Daniel knocked at our door to let us know a giant turtle was making its way onto the shore to bury her eggs. He didn’t have to let us know, but he was excited to share that kind of experience experience with us. It turned out to be quite a memorable one.

It's like having a personalized concierge service throughout your entire stay. The food is excellent, the private beach access is perfect, and the beautiful yoga shala adds to that ideal balance of boho charm and comfort that makes this our home away from home in Tulum. Everything seems to be so perfect, be it the ambience of room, location n access to beach or hospitality and food too. Spending evenings on the beach was my favourite past time. I am also very thankful to Stefan for replying to all my queries before, during and after the stay too. A very beautiful arrangement was made for us with a personalised letter to celebrate our anniversary. Staying for 3 nights there really made my trip. Thank u Will look forward to visit again
