Guest Reviews
- Cindy (10/5): Great inn near the seaside! - Lovely inn very near the water’s edge. The West Lyn and East Lyn rivers join together just outside the front door and both spill into the Atlantic less than a five-minute walk away.
The room was spacious, clean, modern and had a wonderful shower tub combo with a fun n spacious design. Water pressure throughout was perfect as was the water temp. Purified drinking water and a touch of sherry provided at no extra cost. The breakfast, served 7:30 to 9:30 was delicious and there were plenty of breakfast choices…all included in the price of the booking. My husband ordered an English breakfast while I ordered and enjoyed smoked salmon on buttered multi-grain toast along with two fried eggs. PLUS cold cereals, yogurt, whole and cut up fresh fruit, juices, teas, and coffee. All served with a smile!!
- Kathleen (10/5): Exceptional staff - a very comfortable stay - Incredible staff made this lovely guest house exceptional. We stayed with our two girls for two nights, but could have happily stayed for a lot longer. The team spent time getting to know us and were brilliant with our children, going above and beyond to help out at breakfast time. Breakfast was EXCELLENT! Top quality food, cooked beautifully - we really hope to be back. There is lots to do in Lynmouth - we didn't have enough time to explore everything. The place is in perfect positioning to get to shops, pubs, beach and playground over the road - you can hear the river outside the family room which we were in, which was lovely.
- Steve (10/5): The cleanest Guest House I have ever stayed in. - The Lyn Valley Guest House is a fantastic place to stay.
On arrival we were shown around and I immediately asked if we could stay another night. Unfortunately, this was not possible as understandably I would imagine this guest house is always fully booked.
I can say without exception this is the cleanest Guest House I have ever stayed in.
The breakfast was awesome and included in the price.
We will definatley be coming back for a longer stay at some point.
- Simon (10/5): Perfect stay in Lynmouth - We arrived here having walked the SW path from Porlock Weir. Our greeting was wonderful, friendly and very helpful. We were offered a pack lunch service for the next day which was perfect for our needs. I was even given a blister plaster when I happened to mention my foot was sore. We were also given recommendations on where to eat in the evening.
We were shown to our room by another really lovely member of staff.
Our room was was beautiful and had a nice view of the river.
The next morning was Easter Sunday, when we went down for breakfast there were medium sized Easter eggs for all the guests which was really lovely and a nice surprise.
Breakfast was delicious and our pack lunches were ready for us.
I cannot recommend this guest house highly enough, if we come to Lynmouth again I would definitely stay here again. Perfect.
- G (10/5): Just perfect - A fabulous guest house and perfect for our one night stop-over. I went for the cheapest room they had, but it was still luxurious. Loads of extra details, huge bathroom and very comfy bed.
Service from front desk and breakfast room was impeccable.
Highly recommended.
- Elaine (10/5): A perfect getaway - A truly wonderful experience great people very friendly, helpful and full of local knowledge.
- Jean-Francois (8/5): - Nice location and room
- Deborah (10/5): - Superb, friendly guesthouse in great central position. Large, clean, beautiful room and bathroom with fab breakfast
- Steven (10/5): - Fantastic central location, step outside the door and straight to the shops and pubs. 1st class service throughout with nothing too much trouble with an amazing breakfast to set you up for the day. Comfortable bed, even had air conditioning. Off road parking is definitely a bonus.
- Raymond (10/5): Superb stay - Excellent place to stay, run by two lovely ladies. Our room was absolutely spotless as was the rest of accommodation and the breakfast was great with a varied choice and well cooked food. Highly recommend staying here.
- Ben (10/5): - My Partner and I stayed at the Lyn guest house and we can’t rate it it highly enough. Welcoming staff, perfect location, amazing rooms and a delicious breakfast. If you planning to stay in Lynmouth you will not be disappointed and I will definitely be booking a longer stay my next trip. 10/10
- Diane (10/5): Family suite perfect - The family suite was brilliant- perfect for our stay and Laura very welcoming on arrival.
We had a great view from our room of the river from one side and the town/ sea-front from the other.
Breakfast was delicious
- Cameron (10/5): Amazing guest house, location and hosts - The guest house is located pefectly right next to the bridge and the river and within a very short walk from shops/restaurants. The hosts were warm and lovely and the room was clean. Breakfast was fantastic. We really loved staying there. We would definitely stay there again.
- Stephen (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - We have just spent 2 nights in the Lyn Valley guest house - we had stayed 12 years ago and loved it. This trip didn't disappoint - the rooms are spacious and clean. The towels are soft, lovely toiletries provided and even a complimentary sherry. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff extremely friendly. Well done Laura - a great place to stay and in a fantastic location. Thank you
- graham (10/5): Fantastic place. - Staff incredibly welcoming and friendly. Top tips for dining out. They offered us parking onsite from 9am on arrival day so we could go off on a coastal walk. Room 11 very spacious. Large pump toiletry bottles rather than fiddly little ones. Very covid secure. Great tasting breakfast and service. Perfect location with tables set by river.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing location and incredibly attentive staff. Both the receptionist and breakfast manager couldn’t have done more for us.
- Paul (8/5): - A very well situated property in the heart of Lynmouth. Dedicated guest parking is a bonus. Check in was a breeze and the receptionist was bright and cheerful. The room was spacious with an equally spacious bathroom. Shutter or blinds would have helped with privacy given the position on the main Street. The bed was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a mixed affair, as the food was good but the service was slow and orders were mixed or missed. One may have expected more character given the nature of the property and Lynmouth itself, and so it’s 80’s feel was a little incongruous. The honesty bar didn’t feel that honest when 2 shorts and mixers cost £14. The Ritz it ain’t. Overall a nice hotel, just don’t expect more than the standard fayre.
- Loz (10/5): - Nice views , nice area with plenary of quaint shops
- Shirley (10/5): Fantastic! - Beautiful place and amazing service. Very spacious rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - and the guest house was very well situated.the only fault was the stairs and no lift but even then the staff helped us with our luggage so overall could not fault it
- Diane (10/5): - Excellent guest house friendly helpful staff great food comfortable clean room comfy bed great location what more do you want
- Gary (10/5): - Excellent guest house. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good guest house in good location - Would return and recommend because staff were lovely room very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best. Great location with free car parking
- Judith (10/5): Lovely stay - We loved our stay in Lynmouth.
- Frank (8/5): Perfct place for visit Lynmouth - Nice place for visiting Lynton and Lynmouth. More or less in center of Lynmouth.
- Barbara (10/5): Excellent - Sehr nettes Personal! Gut gelegen!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - excellent hotel in good location with very nice staff.
- paul (10/5): Weekend in Lynmouth/Lynton - Weekend stay , lovely clean B & B superb cooked breakfast served to you .Very friendly informative staff / owners. Couldn't fault it.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceeded Expectations - My short stay at The Lyn Valley Guest House exceeded all expectations. The staff were incredibly professional, accommodating and friendly, and the facilities were kept very clean.
The breakfast is filling, the property situated in a great location and the rooms are of an considerable size.
The Wifi connection can be a little temperamental, but this is commonly the case within the area - A visit to our British villages is a welcomed disconnection. Thank you to the team!
(Photographs are of the King bedroom with ensuite).
- Patrick (10/5): Great place to stay - Wonderful 2 night stay on short walking break. Have been several times before but always stayed up in Lynton, would definitely stay here again. Great friendly service and lovely restaurant
- Paddy (8/5): lovely weekend break - had a lovely 2 night stay. I had booked a 2nd night late so we stayed in a different room each night. both rooms were clean and tidy and very comfortable. 1 bottle of free water provided in room along with the quirky decanter of sherry! Location wise it is perfect, have stayed in lynmouth before but not here, will definitely stay again though, service was excellent and the restaurant food delicious and reasonably priced.
- Peter (10/5): - Very enjoyable stay with high standard of furnishings
- Rachel (8/5): Charming Lynmouth stay. - Perfect cosy stay for a night away by the seaside. Warm welcome even tho our room wasn't ready able to leave car and go for lovely walk to Watersmeet then back along the coastal path. Very reasonable evening meal, if a little quiet as only one other couple in the restaurant. Room was super comfy and lovely newly refurbished bathroom with very powerful shower, needs carefully positioning so not to flood the floor! And the breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked to order and an excellent start to another day of walking. Laura and her team provided a warm and welcoming stay in a pretty village which is thankfully still as charming as when I first visited on a school trip some 35 years ago!
- Ray (10/5): Perfect location at top of high street - Lovely hotel with large, clean, well equipped room with fabulous view up the Lynn valley. Breakfast was very easy and fry up was superb. Staff genuinely friendly. Best choice of our holidays so far, and excellent value for money - will definitely return.
- Mary (8/5): Comfortable small hotel alongside river - We stayed here for two nights. We had a wonderful welcome and the staff made a point of getting to know you and making sure you made the most of your visitor the area. Lynmouth is a wonderful quiet place at this time of year with an interesting history. We did an excellent circular walk from the hotel to the valley of the rocks. The food in the hotel was very good and everything you could hope for. There are other places to eat nearby too if you want a change of scenery. The room was exceptionally clean and there was a decanter of sherry for us to use which was much appreciated alongside the usual tea and coffee and biscuits etc. The en suite bathroom looked brand new and had a large bath and shower. The bed was king size and very comfortable. The parking area is a little scruffy but do not be put off by that. Would definitely recommend to fellow travellers who want a small family run hotel.
- Keith (10/5): Rooms that you'd chose - The outside hides the elegance of the rooms. Spacious with a large comfortable bed, a good "work" desk with comfortable seating, china cups and a glass of complementary sherry, coupled to a spacious bathroom with wonderful. powerful shower this was an absolute gem. The Wifi works well, the breakfast was magnificent and the staff delightful. There is some noise from the river which you will either find irritating or soothing especially if in fairly full flood but ,personally, I found only added to the rooms charms. If only all hotel rooms were like this business travel would be an absolute pleasure. Good real ale pub within easy walking distance. I hope business brings me back soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel with amazing service. - Brilliant stay, little gem. Service couldn't have been more friendly or attentive. Room was lovely, modern, spacious and spotlessly clean. The area and hotel were very quiet due to the season, but for a one night escape it was perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and confortable hotel - Our stay was very good. The continental breakfast was perfect, good bread, coffee, butter and marmalade.
- Carol (10/5): A great place to stay - The staff couldn't have been friendlier. We were upgraded to a large room with a huge bathroom and seas view. Complimentary sherry was a lovely surprise. The evening meal was superb and there was a good breakfast. My gluten free dietary requirements were not a problem. I will go back in the season when the bar will stay open later. This was not a problem as there were many other places to go only a short walk away.
- Robert (10/5): L'endroit idéal pour profiter d'Exmoor - Lovely stay. The lady that run the place is funny and give us a warm welcome. We had the family room. It was clean, comfortable and with a lot of little attentions.
We should have stayed longer
- Elizabeth (10/5): Idyllic peaceful riverside retreat. - Just a one night stop over en-route. But relaxing peaceful and friendly with gorgeous food. The village, its surroundings and history are fascinating, with lots to see and learn about, the hotel is in a perfect location with its own parking, right beside the Lyn river. The whole place looks to have been decorated to a very high standard very recently. We will be returning soon.
- Regula (8/5): Reise im Exmoor NP - Herzlicher Empfang, gute Tipps für Wanderungen, sehr schöne Lage mit Blick aufs Meer und den Fluss.
- Susan (10/5): Overnight stay on journey to BUDE Cornwall - Very pleasant stay nothing was too much trouble; felt very comfortable here ;
- Verified traveler (10/5): Big breakfast big rooms and comfy beds amazing - Amazing views from the rooms and also amazing shops just down the road from the b&b exciting cliff railway and delicious breakfast
