Guest Reviews
- Lynn (3/5): Wouldn't recommend - The food was good and the bar staff were friendly Lack of staff
Dated decor
Rude chef
- Tony (7/5): -
- O’neil (10/5): We loved our stay , warm friendly atmosphere would book again - Great service friendly staff, good food, rooms clean spacious No doggie bins in garden , but dog friendly pub , Basic Rooms
- Peter (7/5): - Great breakfast, comfortable bed and pillows. Tea making in the room. Good TV. Refused dinner after 7pm with excuse of'large party' arriving later that didn't materialise.
Room needed a spring clean.
- Melanie (10/5): The staff very friendly and accommodating. My second time at this accommodation and it won’t be my last. The - Location near family/train/bus stop!
- Ulrike (9/5): Highly recommend and make sure you eat in the restaurant - Very friendly staff and excellent food The room looked a bit tired but fantastic value for money
- Idrees (10/5): -
- Anita (9/5): -
- Anita (9/5): Lovely stay - Very friendly and welcoming, chatty staff members and breakfast was delicious Need to have someone more attentive to guests at breakfast as had to look for somebody to get some attention
- Arthur (10/5): -
- Sean (3/5): Really disapointing experience with no attempt by the management to resolve the various problems. Great food and friendl - The staff on duty (not managers) were friendly and supportive. The food was exceptional. On booking in, I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. Given the recent high-profile cases of this problem at other hotels, I was particularly disappointed. I was unable to speak to a manager about it and offered them the change to call me. Nobody bothered to reach out - really poor management! The room was reasonably comfortable but there was black mould around the bath and the shower temperature dial was really stiff… unless you are VERY strong then you will be forced to take a shower at the same temperature as the last guest… who you quite possibly met when you walked in on them earlier in the day!!!
- Stephen (8/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great overnight stay with lovely food ,comfortable bedroom & friendly staff -
- Marian (9/5): I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food especially as the price was very reasonable - The breakfast was great, also the meal I had the night before was good too Bed wasn't that comfy,no mirror in room
- Marion (10/5): -
- Aimee (10/5): Sarah makes this stay so special every time - Again Sarah who does the breakfast service was exemplary, she makes all the difference every time we stay, she is so friendly helpful and such an asset Would be good to have an iron and irons board avaliable

- Nikki (9/5): We had a lovely stay here. The staff are really friendly and are very welcoming to dogs. The bedroom was lovely. Could - The staff are really friendly. The breakfasts were lovely. Pub was great. The bath towels were lovely and fluffy and nice and big. The bed was huge. The shower had very good power and lovely and warm. Love the black taps etc. and the colour scheme. We changed from room 1 to room 7 as it was bigger. It had also been done up, room 1 was a bit tired, and was lovely but there are a couple of tweaks that would make it really good. 1- the shower is in completely the wrong place. It’s a fabulous shower. Nice flow but just couldn’t get under it properly as it’s facing the width of the bath not the length. Most bizarre! The bath mat had holes in it. Shame as the towels were lovely and new. There wasn’t a mirror so I couldn’t sit at the dressing table to do my makeup and hair.
It also would be nice to have a lamp near the sofa bed and some of the new paintwork needs tidying up as it’s on the wood beam and skirting boards.
- Adrian (8/5): As good as expected , no complaints. - Breakfast was very good first time ever I had steak and eggs for breakfast, the stake came under done , no trouble the chef attended to it and gave me back a well done steak. Not much ,I know the area, and the pub , cannot really improve on the efficiency and friendliness of the staff or comfort of the beds.
- Julian (8/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): Friendly helpful staff and great breakfast. - Great location (near my sister’s house!) and the Broads and easy to reach by bus and train.
- Sophia (10/5): - Perfect location to explore the Broads
- Brian (7/5): - The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had recently been decorated. The room was badly thought out.
The bathroom would have been better with a walk in shower as the bath was difficult to get in and out of. The bath/shower had a fixed perspex splash instead of a curtain so it would have been difficult to use as a bath anyway.
There was only a small mirror in the bathroom which made it difficult for the two of us to get ready in the morning, especially my wife , and there was nowhere to place your toiletries.A mirror in the bedroom instead of a picture would have been ideal especially as there was a light over the picture.
One of the bedside cabinets was partially blocking the entrance to the bathroom ( about 8 inches) which I caught my leg on in the middle of the first night.A narrower cabinet would be better.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): Fantastic place to stay. - Firstly we got a lovely welcome from the young lady behind the bar, collected key the room was the deluxe room with balcony totally 👌 perfect, the breakfast in the mornings was top class everything that was needed we will certainly be coming back, we must also give a big thank you 😊 to all staff. I think above says it all
Cannot praise enough it made our Easter weekend break fabulous.
Big than you again......
- Xue Tong (9/5): -
- Keith (10/5): -
- Ian (7/5): Great restaurant and food Rooms ok for short stops - The restaurant side is Excellent 10/10
Staff are really friendly 10/10
Bar are and restaurant very clean and well presented, car park big BUT you must register the car inside or you will get fined
Great towels nice big and soft Shower head very poor, leaking and squirts all over the place, only one bedside drawer that faces wrong way bed slightly lumpy but ok
- Janet (7/5): Value for money would stay again - Excellent value for money, breakfast was excellent Wish we booked room 3 as has a patio for the dog
- Michael (8/5): Great value. - Nice room, big bath to luxuriate in. Really good food in the restaurant plus good breakfast. Not much around but handy to major areas.
- John (10/5): - Shout to Alexandria, she was very friendly and helpful. She is an asset to your business. Thank you
- Ruth (7/5): Good value hotel but a bit noisy - Excellent shower, comfortable bed, good breakfast, good to be able to book a single room when travelling alone (not many hotels offer that). Sound proofing was very poor, the outer door squeaked and there was a lot of coming and going during the night so was quite a lot of disturbance.
- Sandra (9/5): -
- Brooks (9/5): -
- Rachel (6/5): -
- Hugh (9/5): Great place and would stay again - Clean , warm with friendly staff
Breakfast was nice too. We tried the steaks one evening, and they were lovely. There was only one member of staff who worked the bar and the restaurant who worked like a Trojan. Service was slow as a result but he was very good, polite and apologised (we weren’t in a hurry) Plumbing had some minor problems that didn’t affect our stay but were irritating.
- Wall (5/5): A lovely situation….evening food good…. - Breakfast passable Just need to up their game..
Staff were off I think…
Was better on the Monday and Tuesday
- Tracey (10/5): Value for money comfortable very attentive staff - Clean and friendly Shower leaking
- Lynn (9/5): A winner - My room was clean, cosy and comfortable. Hot shower. Clean sheets and bedding, fluffy clean towels. Carpets not fresh
- walker (10/5): lovely stay good price great breakfast. - We stayed 2 nights it was the best english breakfast I have had consistant both mornings. The Chef was a really nice chap who took pride in his food. Excellent service by the woman working as well. We will be coming for breakfast again and will stay again thank you. We liked everything.
- Aimee (10/5): -
- andrew (10/5): Great all round - Great value, great food and very comfortable
- Hurst (10/5): - Very polite staff was very comfortable night sleep located in a lovely little area. And also good that they take cash.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): -
- John (8/5): - Very good Nothing
- Peter (6/5): Enjoyed a short break here, nice walk with our dog along the broads. - Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Dog friendly.
Good parking.
Beer garden and grass for the dog.
Nice, clean, comfy bed.
Good value for money with breakfast included price. Had no bacon 1st morning breakfast.
Room could of been cleaner, pictures and light shades dusty. Had to slam door to get it to lock.
Drinks very pricey, not just here but in area.
£6.40 to £7.30 pint of morretti.
- Ryan (7/5): Really good value for money excellent food overall - Breakfast was great, found food also really good in the evening we really enjoyed it Couldn't fault for price
- Kay (1/5): - Didn’t Was run down dirty and on a noisy road. Very thick dust on ceiling light in bedroom. Horrible smell in bathroom. When you had a shower the plug hole in the bath was blocked up. Ceiling in bathroom is peeling off. Dirty sticky tables in breakfast room. Pastries was uncovered. And a fly was walking over them. They advertise a Sunday roast. But when we arrived on Sunday they had stopped doing roasts 2 weeks ago. Would not stay here again. Very disappointing.
- Paul (10/5): Good base from which to explore Norfolk. - Friendly staff, good food, nice room -
- Danny (9/5): Great location , just off the A47 in a little village. Would stay again. Great breakfast. - Breakfast was excellent. We had the 'small hot breakfast ' which was more than enough ( I doubt we could have eaten a large one!!)
Staff were friendly and helpful and room was clean, tasteful and good value. We had a large balcony overlooking the pub garden which was useful as it was a very warm night and we left the patio door open. We would have liked a couple of lounge/deck chairs so we could have enjoyed the balcony more and you did have to get out of bed to turn the bedside lamps on or off but this is just nit picky.
On one of the hottest evenings of the year air conditioning would have been nice but could not be expected for the money we paid. A fan was provided but was too noisy to use at night.
- Christopher (8/5): - Breakfast is the best i have ever had 😃. Rooms need alittle tlc.
- Diana (8/5): Rural Bliss - The hotel was well appointed, with its own bar and restaurant. The garden was a bonus. We sat outside in the longest evenings of the year while the staff waited on us, and we made friends with a hedgehog. We should have researched the location better, as Acle was further out from Norwich than we had hoped.
- Adrian Taylor (7/5): Some things are ok. Other, areas are no good at all. - The room was good. The restaurant was good, now that it was actually open. There was far too much salt on the rosemary salted chips. Also, you pay for breakfast but if you have to leave before 8am, which would be everyone, you don't get any breakfast at all. This is not satisfactory.
- Julie (9/5): Very pleasantly surprised at the high standards at this hotel considering the great room rate. - Perfect location for our needs. Close to the Norfolk Broads. Room was clean, comfortable with the added bonus of a bath! Cannot beat value for money. Room rate included an exceptional breakfast which is rare these days and is often an added cost. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again. Parking was free once registered with the hotel. Next time we would ask for a room at the back away from the main road. However, it would not put us off if this was not available. Large room difficult to heat. We should have asked for a portable heater which the room next door had. That's down to us.
- Lene (6/5): My stay was pheasant - The bed was comfy, lovely duvet and quality towels. Breakfast was good. Location central on the main road through the town. Free parking was one of the main reason I chose to stay here. It is awkward to use the key to get into the room because the lock has been put far too close to the door panel. In the bedroom above the curtains hole has been filled with polyfilla, but it needs to be sanded down and repainted. It would be nice to have kettle that can fit under the tap in the bathroom to refill it. The panels in the bath room need repainting. The toilet holder is wonky. The breakfast menu in my room had old coffee stains on it.
As I stayed away on business the most irritating things was that I couldn't get a VAT receipt for my evening meal, which I need when I claim my expenses back.
- ADRIAN (8/5): Great value, great food and a very warm welcome. - It was a very comfortable pub setting. Beautiful food and very helpful staff. Room was basic but very clean and comfortable. Would certainly recommend. Not a could have done better and not a lot they can do to change, but stairs up to the accommodation are very steep.
- Ian (9/5): -
- JODIE (5/5): Good value, basic! Needs tlc! Good breakfast - Nice little village, clean comfortable beds and quiet
Great breakfast Shower hard to operate needs looking at, bathroom and doors need a deep clean. Freezing at night as they turn the heating off needs something else in the room if this is the case.
- Sophia (9/5): -
- Jamie (8/5): Friendly staff and good breakfast. Clean and comfortable. - Great value for money and good breakfast included. Comfortable bed. For money nothing to comment
- Shirley (4/5): Uncomfortable - Location was good It was dirty
- Michael (8/5): -
- Mai (9/5): Great experience. Staff were welcoming. Generous Accommodation. Excellent food & Service. 5 ***** - My daughter and I were travelling from Hampshire to Norfolk to attend my brother’s funeral the following morning.
After a five hour drive, The Kings Head was a welcoming sight! Charming outward appearance, easy to find and plenty of parking. Inside, the pub was warm and buzzing with happy patrons. Charlie, our host was very engaging as we went through the booking process and showed us to our room.
We had dinner there and food was out of this world. Fresh ingredients and sides cooked with care and attention, for a very reasonable price. Charlie, Alexandra, and the Head Chef went the extra mile to accommodate our dietary needs.Highly recommend. Definitely would return for our next visit to the area. :-) Our twin bedded room was spacious, high ceilings and window dressed with very effective privacy curtain material. Lovely decorative touches everywhere to create a warm theme. The bed mattresses were very comfortable and both my daughter and I enjoyed a much needed sleep. The en suite bathroom was a good size but could do with a few cosmetic tweaks to freshen it up I.e a few tiles placed above the sink, a new shower seal at the base of the shower door and a general spruce up to the bath sealant. Nonetheless it was otherwise clean and presentable with complementary mini toiletries and lots of white fluffy towels : )
- louise (8/5): Value for money - Food was great ! Needs some TLC
- Jessica (7/5): Great, some fine-tuning needed. - Room and breakfast. The water was undrinkable. Take bottled water with you.
- Trevor (8/5): - Location The rooms are too hot and you can’t turn the radiators down
- Michele (7/5): Fine for what we needed - The location and access - good breakfast choice Bed small & room hot. Only had cows milk available
- Trevor (8/5): -
- Jane (9/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, excellent (included) breakfast. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Very good value for money. Unfortunately the mattress was too soft for me and I had an uncomfortable night. The tv didn't work: I think the remote needed new batteries.
NB These comments are personal: the first may not apply to someone else, and the second needed checking by the hotel, who wouldn't necessarily know if no one pointed it out to them.
- Trevor (8/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Hidden gem! - The room was comfortable, warm and a good size.
- Jamie (10/5): - Amazing food amazing breakfast Nothing all good
- Guest (10/5): Our stay was very good the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable . - The breakfast was excellent and we had a meal in the evening which was excellent has well Nothing
- John (7/5): Did the job - Very good breakfast Heat goes off at night so it went cold in the room
- Andy (10/5): Nice rooms and the staff were great - Nice area nice all round Nothing
- roythespurs (9/5): - Greeted by Alexandra when we arrived. 3 weeks in the job shes doing well. Lovely young girl. No towels in room but sorted later. Red hot shower coukdnt control.
- Aimee (9/5): Great place to stay - Sarah makes it so special - Sarah is amazing as always, and the breakfast is outstanding - room 3, which we always have, is well appointed Paint a little tired in the room but does not affect stay
- Geoff (8/5): -
- Trevor (5/5): Completely gone downhill 2025 - Location Been using this hotel for a number of years this year it has gone downhill completely not sure what has happened. Staff don't seem to know what's going on. They're letting you book your bed and Breakfast book no food etc can't get hold of people when you need to speak to them. Not good at the moment.
- Graham (8/5): I would use this Inn again if I am in the area. -
- Craig (9/5): Very nice stay will come again next year - Quiet and comfortable Nothing
- Adrian Taylor (2/5): Awful, Restaurant completely shut. Bull dog of a chef that bullies the guests. Totally dysfunctional - Very little. One of the worst places I have ever stayed at. The restaurant was completely shut on both nights. I had to walk around the town to buy dinner but all the take aways only accept cash so I had to find a cashpoint. Most things. They didn't serve breakfast until 8:00 although the lady asked the breakfast chef if he could make me breakfast at 07:20 so I wasn't late for work. The breakfast was good but the chef was a bull dog who kept on asking me for my key when I was staying for another night. An absolute disgrace of a place!
- Paul (7/5): Good value for money and friendly staff - Decor needs a lick of paint, but for the price, Everything was comfortable and warm. The bath was huge and a joy.
Staff were great, as was the breakfast (For me, 08.00 was a little late for breakfast). Two minor criticisms 1) the evening meal was expensive at over £50 for a starter and main. 2) The door to the room did not always 'catch' and I would find the door to be open on the next interaction, or if I had stepped out with the dog (Room 1).
- Paul (9/5): Nice and clean . Nice and warm staff excellent service even our dog was made to feel good - Parking, staff and good food Nothing to complain about
- Michala (6/5): Overall an ok stay-would return but dependant on price. - Room was comfortable, all necessities present I.e TV, Kettle.
Liked the fact there was a heater in the room to use.
Breakfast was fab, surprised by the choices offered-thankyou
Staff pleasant
Parking facilities were good
WiFi available Needs some decoration, dusty fans and surfaces
No shower mat-very dangerous and slippery
Bathroom door gets stuck so you get locked in-take phone with you in case you need to get help.
Noisy room as on a main road but used ear plugs and was much better
- Trevor (10/5): -
- Duncan (9/5): - Car parking adjacent, good dining room. Efficient and welcoming staff.
Breakfast included It was a small single room, but had private bathroom and all expected facilities.
No wardrobe or drawers for clothes on an extended stay.
- John (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. Nice restaurant and very pleasant waiting service. - Excellent very nice indeed Heating was irregular and sink cold water mostly unless we ran bath tap in the first instance. 🤫
- ian (9/5): Lovely stay. Would definitely recommend. - Very clean. Easy to find and park. Evening meal was delicious and good value. Bedroom spacious , bed comfortable. Bar staff very welcoming. Tap in bathroom needs repairing, water comes out sideways. Large shower head not working properly but coped with small head just a bit of maintenance required.
- Jayne (8/5): Hidden gem, ideal for an overnight stay. - This stay was great value for money
The staff were very friendly, great chat with the new chef
Check in was very easy
The breakfast was delicious as was the evening meal we booked in for.
Lovely sized twin bed, great comms before stay about making it up as a double.
The beds were comfortable as were the pillows. No plugs by the bed for chargers
Bathroom was a bit on the small side
Key access to the room was fiddly
The whole place was chilly, especially in the restaurant when anyone went to the loo!
The quality of the food was outstanding and cooked to perfection however the price point in our opinion needs looking at.
£4.25 for a cappuccino!!
- andy (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Staff very helpful and friendly room had everything you need food very good - Everything Nothing
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Trevor (10/5): Great place to stay if you are visiting the Norfolk Broads - Excellent location good food and friendly staff They stopped serving food a little early in the evening. You are to order before 8 pm.
- lisa (9/5): Great price, great breakfast, great stay. - The breakfast was superb, and the staff friendly. The room was large with a nice bath and shower. Nothing
- Lis (9/5): - Right in the middle of town, with free roadside parking. Very friendly and helpful staff
