• gerald (10/5): Bon hôtel - Hôtel vieillissant, chambre un peu vetuste mais le confort y est. Le jaccuzi ne marche pas mais c'est normal! L'eau chaude très longue à venir et pas si chaude. Autrement ça va, bon petit déjeuner dans un hôtel voisin, chambre grande, bien situé et très propre. Le personnel n'est pas très joviale. C'est un très bon rapport qualité-prix pour Sun Moon Lake.

• aspib2018 (8/5): Good for the 💲 - We got a room without window but was good enough for couple of nights. Bang in the middle of town. Nice big bathroom. Best part is the buffet breakfast offered at their sister property next door. Will stay again.
• pamelawA4126UW (2/5): Terrible - I wouldn't recommend this hotel. My room looks like its not done renovating yet. I opened the cabinets and see wiring in it. There was a tile missing in the toilet. The toilet walls are filty and dusty. The bath towels are dirty. There isn't a hair dryer. The shower door doesn't help to keep water in, and there isn't a holder to put my toiletries, so I had to open the shower door to take them. The towels are dirty. My window view is the view of the corridor. Seriously if I was staying more than one night, I'll check out straightaway.
• christianbW8935SP (6/5): Not my luckiest pick - I probably got the worst room of the hotel (at least i hope it for the other guests). The had sprayed so much ambient deodorant that it was really hard to breath, even with the window open (towards the internal stairs). Mostly they apostasy so much that you doubt smell the mould, indeed in the bathroom i could spot a little bit of it. It was very humid in the room and the clothes did absorb some of it. At the first impression the room doesn't look bad but if you look closer you see that all is worn down. Only one power plug in the remotest corner of the room, even the light switches are not reachable from the bed. The breakfast nice is great but you have to move to another hotel that ist 50 Meter distant. Don't go to the breakfast early because then there are hordes of tour groups (mostly Chinese) and it's hard to find a table, after 8:30 it's much calmer. The english level of the staff was very basic but ok for some easy questions but not more. I would not come again to this hotel.
• Toby (6/5): Hotel by shuishe harbour - Basically paying for the good location, and the jacuzi in the toilet! Everything else was just ok, but very disappointing wifi. Lucky I had my own roaming data.

• rodneyd357 (10/5): Mr Rodney Dickinson - This is the best room we have stayed in on our holiday. We extended our stay, because we love the room. Clean, spacious and beautiful. Lovely big balcony and on the 7th floor. I'd recommend it to anyone. Very good service.

The free breakfast which is buffet in a nearby big hotel is very good with many food varieties.

• Verified traveler (8/5): All looks, no substance - The location is just at the end of the block from the tourist information office where all the transportation is, so it's very convenient. The service is not very helpful or informative, but we didn't need much. The rooms are spacious but flashy low quality design. There was no maid service, they only provided 2 packs of liquid soap for our entire stay and never came back to remove the trash or refill anything. We had dedicated wifi for the room, while spotty in certain corners it was overall decent. Breakfast was at their larger sister hotel down the street, go earlier for more options. You'll have to complain to get them to refill the trays towards the end of the service.

• Fabian (2/5): Not worth the money... - We didn't like our stayment. Balcony was really dirty, the bathroom was dirty and the mattress too hard. The lady at the reception was friendly and after complaining we got an upgrade to a room with a whirlpool. But the bubbles didn't work, very disappointing again. And also not very clean. We think that it's way too expensive for what you get. Better pay more and go to another hotel....

• hannnnnni (2/5): A disappointment. - I paid 2500 TWD. Room was messy, especially bathroom. There wasn't a blanket in my bed, only sheet and bed was extremely hard. Staff wasn't friendly. Breakfast is in a other building. AC worked, thats the only good thing.

• Kong_omac (6/5): Just only a great location with good breakfast. - This hotel has a good location nearby Sun Moon Lake bus station, visitor center.(walk around 2 mins) and have a 2 entrance. My room has no view. The room is dusty feeling not clean. But the price is too cheap. We stay here for 2 nights. Every morning we had a good breakfast at Harbor resort next to Shuishe pier. (50 M. away from hotel.)

• Verified traveler (2/5): Moldy smell in makeshift room - I received a substandard room, one which seemed like it was converted from a storage back room. The bathroom had a strange, empty, dirty pool in it, its wall looked like an afterthought, and the door was a frosted glass door that didn't lock. The rest of the room smelled like mold, was not clean, uncomfortable, and uninviting. After tolerating it for an hour I booked a room elsewhere.
• Verified traveler (8/5): It has a jacuzzi in the toilet! - The jacuzzi in the toilet is amazing! Just that the only thing separating the toilet and the sleeping area (bed) is a sliding glass door so I think I could smell the toilet at night. Pillow was too flat too.
• thoMADroART (6/5): Stayed again - I am an Artist and I show my work in Taiwan at Liao Mayor Black Tea Cultural Center in Nantou. I visit several times a year and typically stay near Sun Moon Lake. This is my third stay at Harbor Elite. It is a basic hotel but then again most of the choices at the lake are older and come with the challenges of Old Properties. What separates this one from the others is that the rooms are huge and some have big outdoor balconies and even jetted bathtubs. I'm sure that at one time this was luxury!! Don't get me wrong...if you want a luxury stay try the Fleur de Chine Hotel, the Hotel Del Lago or if you require the absolute best The Lalu. I've stayed at all of these but don't fell the need to depart with $300 USD to $700 USD per night anymore. The Harbor Elite is a reasonable stay with a adequate breakfast buffet available at another hotel down the street, The location is Great...the Suite Rooms are Big and I slept just fine. That is the key...Get a suite on an upper floor and you cant go wrong for the price.
• maryyeo (6/5): Simple hotel - read for pros and cons - Pros: 1. Location - The Sun Moon Lake town is a small town of about 20 small buildings. This hotel is right in the middle of town. It's beside Watson's and opposite 7-11 and other souvenir shops. Bicycle rental shops are a few shops down the road. Both the habour and the bus terminal shopping mall are about a 5-minutes walk away. 2. View - the suite rooms on the higher floors are spacious and actually has a view of the habour! However, there are only 1 or 2 of such rooms. 3. Interesting ceiling - the ceiling has the blue sky painted on it... and it turns into a sky of luminous stars when you turn the lights off. Our kid loved it. 4. Amazing Jacuzzi - it's large, has black granite interiors and a built-in side bench (also with black granite tiles laid over). It's large enough for 3 adults to sit side-by-side in it! Cons: 1. View - well, as mentioned, only few rooms at the top has a view of the habour. Other rooms have Zero view. 2. Size - other than the suite rooms, the other rooms are rather small. Surprisingly, even the smaller rooms have the amazing Jacuzzi. 3. Breakfast - they don't have it. You'll have to cross the small road to their sister hotel, Habour Resort Hotel, to have breakfast. It's crazy crowded, presumably it hosts breakfast for several other hotels as well. You can consider staying at this sister hotel as they've more rooms facing the habour (since it IS along the habour) and breakfast is right downstairs. Overall, if you can get the suite room at this hotel, it's more worth it and spacious than the normal habour-facing rooms at the more expensive hotels along the habour.

• Paulinehuang34 (8/5): Fair price with excellent quality - The staffs are very helpful for traveling informations and the locations is great. We stayed in second floor the room is with a lovely balcony,and the breakfast is great. Value of money. But at first when we entered the room, the room was with a humid smell so we had to open the window and turn on the AC to make the smell gone. Generally it's a good experience.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Disappointment beyond belief. - I had stayed at the hotel 3 years ago. It was well-maintained and clean. Now, the room I got was dusty. The shower and room floor was dirty. The place seems like no one bothered to clean it. The mattress cover and pillow cases have a weird smell. The room was dilapidated. It was disappointing as I had a good stay previously. The only consolation was that it has a balcony with a decent view, a working bathtub and its hotel location.
• 940kmt (8/5): Cheap, good location, Jacuzzi! - I highly recommend this place if you are staying in Sun Moon Lake. Free breakfast in the hotel near by with lake view. It's real breakfast not just Sandwich and milk. The room is spacious and clean. There is a Jacuzzi in the bathroom. less than 5 mins walk to the ports or bus station.

• soulmepa (8/5): Big Bathroom and Jacuzzi! - Good price, good location and good facilities! You can ask for the lake-view room (if available) Free breakfast is at the other hotel i can't remember name and it's such a great breakfast. Bathroom is so big and there is a Jacuzzi for relaxing.
• Kumaneko (8/5): Central location & Budget friendly! - The hotel is located on a slope with main entrance and lobby on its 3rd and back entrance on its 1st floor. The cheapest 3 standard rooms are on the 2nd floor with 2 rooms on the side of the building and a corner room with balcony overlooking public parking lot behind the hotel. This is why the hotel got some mixed reviews since those 2 standard rooms on the side of the building must have no view at all. However, I was lucky enough to get the corner room with balcony.The other more expensive rooms are on higher floors above the lobby and should have either street view or parking lot view with the lake in the distance. The hotel's look was not very impressive from outside but its room was lovely, clean and cozy enough. It's bad that our in-room Jacuzzi was broken though. According to some previous reviews, some rooms may have a bathroom in between bedroom and balcony but not ours. The hotel's luminous star ceiling that glows in the dark is a nice touch. Breakfast is served in the nearby sister, Harbor Resort Hotel. Breakfast was plenty and yummy. There were two stations with one at the front room serving continental breakfast and one at the back serving Chinese-style breakfast. I didn't know this fact until I had finished so I had Chinese-style breakfast only. The lake view seen from the dining hall was stunning. The hotel offers a discounted unlimited one-day ferry pass for 100 TWD for its guests.
• Amaliakol (6/5): Good...! - Well we stayed in this hotel for 4nights in a business trip. The staff is friendly when they understand cause they don't speak English. The room we had in the 9 floor was very big and comfortable but the housekeeping can do better! The mattress is very hard also the pillows and you can feel it the morning in your body!!! We had breakfast but in another hotel that I visit only the first day cause I don't prefer this kind of breakfast...! But the hotel is very close to the lake and it's easy to get a ride with a boat! Also very close to the souvenir stores. Finally take care about the food time cause after 21:00-21:30 it's hard to find a restaurant open!!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient location but room amenities need upkeep - Neat and cosy hotel room. But noise-proof is poor. Our bathroom did not have a soap & shampoo rack (from the wall looked like it was damaged and not replaced). Design of the shower door when opened obstructed us from getting anything from the hand basin. In the end we got to put our cleansers and shampoo in cups on the floor when showering.
• joyseng (6/5): Budget hotel with big bathroom - This hotel is a budget room with very basic amenities. They provide plastic slippers instead of disposable ones, and water cooler instead of bottled water. The room is big but the design is very poor. There is a step near the door which first-timers will trip over it. There is no rack to put my luggage. The dressing table is squeezed at a tight corner next to the bed even though there are lots of space in the room. On the other hand, their bathroom is super huge (same size as bedroom). There is a big tub for soaking, but is a pity that the Jacuzzi function is not working. The shower area is huge too and this is the first time in my life I can sit to bathe. However, it has a bad smell and is not very clean. There is a nice balcony with a nice swing too. No lake view but still has quite a view. The location is good as it is near to all the shops. Staff are quite friendly. However, wifi connection is bad and need to keep re-connecting. Also like the other 3 hotels that I have stayed in Taiwan, they have no heater. Overall, it is a bit old and not too clean nor well-maintained. However, it is ok for the price that I paid though.
• DeBing89 (8/5): Friendly staff - We stayed at this hotel for one night in two rooms. The WiFi didn't work so we got a room change so eventually the WiFi worked. Furthermore the AC (heater) didn't worked correctly in one of our rooms. A side note: the breakfast is in another hotel.
• Pinheadplanet (8/5): Massive bath with view - Well have to say good things about this place as the room was quite extraordinary. In the room was a massive marble bath tub, big enough for 4 if you're lucky. It's supposed to be a jacuzzi but the jacuzzi bit didn't work on ours however i wasn't bothered in the slightest as we love having a red hot bath together. Oh and the view from the tub looks out on the sunset over the mountains of sun moon lake. Outside is a big balcony that has the same view with a swing bench where you can enjoy a few drinks after some hard cycling or sightseeing during the day. Nice big cosy duvet kept you warm at night and it wasn't too cold anyway. We opted not to have breakfast as it made the room cheaper and we were pretty done with chinese breakfast by now anyway. The room itself was pretty big, lots of black glass and mirrors. The finish needed updating or sprucing up but things like that don't bother me. I have to say i got a bargain price on this room for 2 nights, had i paid the £118 asking price on hetels.com then this review would have been VERY different. Not all rooms have the view, some are street side. They have cheap ferry tickets if you want to do that but we got bicycles and went the whole way around, it's doable but gets a bit tedious the not so good bikes.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great sized room with a huge bath! The staff were very helpful, breakfast is located at a neighbouring hotel, and is extensive. The bed is a bit hard, but this seems to be a standard of Taiwanese hotels.
• lohb2015 (6/5): Value hotel with convenient location - Conveniently located near the ShuiShe pier and other convenience shops, this hotel is a sister hotel to the harbourfront hotel, which is a more luxurious setting facing the riverbanks. The hotel management also runs the river ferry services and guests enjoy a discouny for the shuttle ferry service. we We booked a suite for the one night stay located on the 9th floor with a sofa, quite spacious on the whole. However the lift only stops on the 8th storey so we had to manually carry up the luggage. The blanket provided carried a dusky smell but we still had to use it.While we were watching TV, the hotel fire alarm rang but we got to know it was a false alarm. The front counter staff are friendly. They offered some tips on how to get around and allowed us to deposit our luggage with them before the official check in time. Overall it was value for money, and kudos to the excellent location

• justinm865 (8/5): Day trip to Sun Moon Lake - We took the bus from Taichung for an overnight excursion to Sun Moon Lake. Walked around the streets looking for an available room. This hotel had one room left and since it was not on the weekend, they offered us a great deal. The room had a balcony with porch swing, and an awesome bathroom with big shower and hot tub. The breakfast was good but interesting, since it was in a sister hotel about a block away and had some interesting foods. The only problem was the bed, which is apparently a "traditional Taiwan" type bed. It was hard and flat. No cushion at all. Would not be good for multiple night stays if you are used to American beds. Overall it was a fun and romantic experience.
• 834Lynda (8/5): Balcony and location - We were staying at Sun Moon lake during a heavy rain event. Having a large room with a balcony was a real bonus. We were on the 10 th floor which gave us a small view of the lake and an interesting view of the very busy intersection in front of the hotel. The room itself was clean and spacious. It has a refrigerator, cable TV , comfortable bed and a very large bath tub. The staff are friendly and as helpful as their limited English would allow. We got a good discount on this room as a Thypoon was forecast and the town was a little quiet. We paid $1500twd per night instead of the advertised $2500 twd I would stay here again and I would ask to be in room 1001 as it has a view and being the top floor we didn't get noise from other guests but the room itself with the traffic is a little noisy. The hotel has an elevator that only goes to the 8 th floor so you need to walk up the last two floors to get to your room. The included breakfast could certainly do with improvement as in our five day stay it was the same Luke warm meal daily.
