The rooms had a balcony which directly overlooks the beach. • All staff were very friendly and courteous. • The property has a well-maintained swimming pool, lot of greenery and a kitchen so that food can be ordered and customised as per requirement. All good.

Very peaceful - away from the hustle and bustle of the centre and a lovely 15-20 minute stroll along the beach to get to restaurants etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. Get a room with a balcony as a sea view - paradise! All good

We had to curtail our stay because of the war going on in Middle East and only stayed one day out of a planned 5 day beach holiday. • Teresa (6/5): Overpriced - The location is certainly a strong point. The hotel has direct access to the beach and provides sunbeds and towels, which is convenient. I had a room with a small balcony facing the ocean, which was pleasant. Also the small property is a bit far from Cherai Beach center and is therefore calmer. I genuinely don’t understand how this place receives such positive reviews. First of all, it is overpriced for what it offers. This is essentially a two-star hotel, yet the prices are much higher than the quality justifies. Cleanliness is questionable, and breakfast is quite disappointing. Breakfast service is particularly problematic. There is only one person preparing it and has to go up and down 2 floors which results in waiting times of 30 minutes. Even then, the breakfast often arrives incomplete, coffee or tea was forgotten on the first day. Portions are minimal. Additionally, I did not receive the room category I had booked. I had reserved a Deluxe room but was instead given a Standard room, with no difference in price. While the room I received did have a balcony facing the ocean, which could be considered desirable — this kind of change should always be discussed with the guest beforehand. A room change should only be made with the guest’s agreement, not imposed without consultation. Once again, this reflects questionable service. In conclusion, the stay was acceptable, but far from what the price suggests. I am quite certain there are better options available at Cherai Beach for the same value.

• Ines (10/5): Sehr auf das Wohl der Gäste bedacht - Cherai Beach Residency ist eine sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft - wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Unterkunft war sauber und einladend - sowohl die Zimmer, als auch der Außenbereich mit Pool. Der Poolbereich lädt mit Liegen und gepflegten grünem Rasen zum Entspannen ein. Am Strand gibt es ebenfalls Liegen mit Sonnenschirm, die umsonst genutzt werden können. Die Betreiber und das Personal waren sehr auf unser Wohl bedacht, verbindlich und hilfsbereit. Es war ein toller Aufenthalt und wir wären gerne länger geblieben. Das Essen können wir nicht beurteilen, da wir außerhalb gegessen haben und früh abgereist sind. Bei einem langen Strandspaziergang haben wir viele Unterkünfte gesehen und waren sehr zufrieden mit unserer Wahl. Vielen Dank 😊 Fliegengitter gegen Mücken wären ein Plus, so dass nachts die Balkontür offenbleiben kann. Aufgrund einer gut Du Krio irrenden A/C und eines Deckenventilators war aber alles auch so in Ordnung.
• Angela (8/5): Leuk hotel, rustig gelegen aan het strand met zwembad . - Leuk hotel, erg rustig gelegen aan het strand met heerlijk zwembad. Kamers waren prima, schoon en wij hadden een klein balkon met zicht op zee. Op de foto op bookings lijkt het of het direct op het strand ligt maar er zit wel een weg tussen. Bedjes op het strand zijn gratis. Het eten op tijd bestellen bij het personeel dan wordt het vers bereid. Dit hotel was voor ons slechts 1 nachtje op doorreis maar we hebben er met plezier verbleven.

• George (7/5): Good clean space for a beach lover. - The best thing about the place is its location : bang opposite the roaring sea! The small, two seater balcony facing the sea is a great place to relax. The bed is comfortable, linen clean, the bathroom clean and satisfactory, enough hooks for hanging clothes. The staff friendly and ready to help at all times, the owner very friendly and courteous. Even the premises, the pool, dining area etc are all kept neat and clean. All in all, we had a good time at the resort. I will certainly recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget. The bathroom could do with dispensers for soap and shampoo, and a small cabinet for leaving our toothpaste and brushes overnight. The room layout could be improved to accommodate luggage and leave enough space for moving around. Bedside lamps would be highly appreciated. The place can do with a better cook.

The staff were not as friendly. The pool is not maintained well. The water was looking green due to the presence of algae. Some of the staff could be a bit more friendly in their interactions.

• Stella (4/5): Friendly staff good location but not good value for money - The location was great but I was disappointed to arrive to find there was building work going on with banging all day and that so had not been told which was unfair given the cost was 5k. The deluxe room felt very standard to me. However the staff were very friendly. My advice, as I am learning in India . Do what the Indian tourists do.. go and check it out before you book!

• Michael (7/5): Nice hotel but not during renovation time - We stayed for 4 nights in a clean room with a small balcony and sea view. The pool area and the beach are nice and ideal for relaxing and refreshing but not always. We decided for the Western Breakfast which was ok. We had on two evenings our dinner in the hotel due to bad weather and e.g. tried Dal Fry and paneer butter masala but both count to the worst dishes we had on our holidays. On the 2 of the 4 days they did from 8:30-17:00 renovations with jackhammer and grinder on the hotel close to our room. During that time it was not possible to be in the room or somewhere in the hotel area due to the noise. Complaints from our side were not really considered.
• Brews (8/5): Great crash out stay after a long flight. - Well located on the beach, with a good pool. The staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. This is a good option if you've just arrived at Kochi airport and you need some recovery time after a long flight. We were originally allocated the only room on the ground floor. This is not as well appointed as the bedrooms on the first floor, and is behind the sea defences, so doesn't have sea views. We were moved after the first night. Apparently, those who have booked directly with the hotel get priority.
• Lulu (9/5): Delighted we found this place, and would DEFINITELY stay again if we ever re-visit Kerala. I would not hesitate in recom - The location is superb, the rooms are clean, the staff were super attentive and kind and helpful. It’s quite a rare find for somewhere with a bit of beach with sun beds, and I’m super glad we found it. Watching the sunset was beautiful. Jessie and Polo were so lovely, helped with taxis and anything we asked for. Constant supply of fresh drinking water brought to our rooms. A fridge! That was a lovely surprise after our 3 weeks travels around Kerala. And the pool is stunning, so clean, oh and the gardens! They must put so much work into looking after the gorgeous flora, couldn’t have been more delighted and would highly recommend. Unfortunately the food for us was a bit bland, as we like it spicy. But we understand that it’s a hard task to get the levels right for everyone and it gave us the opportunity to try some amazing local places to eat, we found some fabulous Keralan dishes and the best fish we tasted in Kerala at the Chai Spot up the road! However, that said, the Keralan breakfast was tasty and good (although still not spicy) and eating on top of the building looking over the beach is very special. The photo below is taken of sunset from our balcony! No filter!!

• Simon (9/5): Friendly Serviced Villa right on the beach with beautiful garden, swimming pool and sunbeds - Very friendly, helpful owners and staff. Very clean and well maintained pool with freshwater showers set in a beautiful garden. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas in the garden and on the beach across a very quiet road. Good laundry and ironing service. Transport advice and assistance provided trains, taxis, buses, scooty etc. The Keralan dishes on the menu are toned down for Westerners. I would have liked the option to have chillies in an authentic curry or sambal. Having said that the food was of a very high standard. There were no bicycles for guests to use. This would be a welcome feature in future.

Absolutely beautiful across the road from the beach. The staff come to the beach & ask you if you need anything. And there’s always recliners & shades up for us to use. So nice. Very relaxing place. Language barrier at times makes it hard to communicate. The breakfast included was ok but not great. Food service can be a little slow & haphazard.

The only hotel on Cherai Beach that has private sun loungers and different coloured umbrellas on the beach which is a huge bonus The juice at breakfast and at the dinner on the first night had been watered down. I complained and got the real thing. Incredibly petty considering what a nice hotel it is. The photo of the hotel looks as it iis on the beach but actually there is a road.to cross. Not a big deal but not accurate.

• Cristina (10/5): Perfect after 20 days of Panchakarma. Right on the beach. Beautiful sunsets. Amazing staff - We had just come from 20 days of Panchakarma, and the owners and staff accomodated our every desire regarding our meals, to the point of chosing the spices we wanted, and how our dishes should be prepared. They hava a vegetable garden and would tell us what veggies had been picked that day, and how we would like them to be prepared. There is an authentic giving attitude in all they do to make you happy. The spot on the beach is the best we saw, with a wide portion of sand, and beach lounges and parasols for the guests. The pool area is wonderful, surrounded by palm trees and flowers. The owners and the staff went well beyond what one normally expects staying in a hotel. Generous, respectful od our privacy, kind, and good natured. We only got smiles and perfect service. We walked up and down the beach, and couldn't find a better place. We stayed in a house close to the Cherai Beach Residency, where there are 2 rooms and an apartment. We stayed in the apartment, it was wonderful, especially the huge balcony with sea views. The only drawback was that the wifi in the apartment wasn't strong enough for all my needs. Enough for Whatsapp and getting emails, but not enough for downloading larger files. For that I needed to go downstairs to where the router was. A minor issue, all things considered.

• Barbara (10/5): I am so delighted to have discovered Cherai Beah Residency on my first trip to Kerela - I am so delighted to have discovered Cherai Beah Residency on my first trip to Kerela - staying there was a delight - the welcome is warm and the setting exceptional with a lovely garden and pool to one side and beautiful Cherai Beach just across the road to the other. The hotel is authentically Kerelan in the best possible way - clean comfortable rooms, delicious Kereral style breakfast served on the roof terrace is included and the staff are gracious and helpful. I highly recommend Cherai Beach Residency to you!! Absolutely nothing!

Swimming pool was lovely and the grounds are beautiful. I would highly recommend Only a minor point but the double bed was actually two singles pushed together but it didn't spoil what was a fantastic stay
• Nikki (10/5): Nikki and Lee UK - The staff at this hotel go above and beyond. The room was cleaned daily with fresh sheets and towels. The pool was immaculate as were the lush surrounding gardens. We stayed here over Christmas and it was an experience we will cherish. The local restaurants serve delicious food, albeit not many have a drinks license but, it would not deter us from returning. The stunning beach literally across the road, has sunbeds with pool towels. A rare find in Cherai. We would definitely return and recommend this gem in Cherai. Nothing

• Kirsten (9/5): Great place to unwind - An idyllic 3 day break at the end of our trip to Kerala. What's not to like? Our hardest decision was whether to spend the day by the pool and the perfectly kept gardens or on the sun loungers on the beach opposite. The staff were all friendly and attentive and booked us massage treatments at a local retreat and organised our car journey back to the airport. Breakfasts were taken on the roof terrace. The stretch of beach opposite the hotel is very quiet and while there was definitely a swell from the waves, the current wasn't strong and in fact the water is quite shallow so swimming in the sea was perfect. Hotel is less than a 15 minute walk to local restaurants. Great place to unwind. The fruit at breakfast could have been more plentiful.

The beach is just across the road and without crowd so easier to relax. The nearest restaurants are like a km away so if you have rented vehicle it's easier to travel ( They do serve food in the hotel as well )

The complex just right on the beach providing umbrellas and beach seat. The pool is of good size and very clean and a fresh welcome on a very hot day. Provide local or western style complimentary breakfast and local restaurant just a short walk from hotel. It was a so good and relaxing weekend that we plan another stay this coming weeeknd.

• Karen (10/5): Superb place to stay. - Anna and Poly have created a comfortable, clean and well cared for bed and breakfast just a few metres from the Indian ocean. We went there for some r & r after a busy tour of North India and boy did we pick a great place. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the mongoose in the back garden was a real bonus! The nearby town of Paravur is great for a mooch (check out Madras Cafe - it's where locals eat). Only 200 ruppee by tuk tuk to get there from Cherai. The whole area is not spoiled by being overly commercial either. Swimming in 30 + degree ocean was amazing. Arranging tours in and around Kochi is all easy to.

(10/5): Exceptional - Modern bathroom: After almost four weeks in B&B and homestays in southern India, finally no more wet feet when using the toilet and washbasin as there is a separate shower. A spacious room equipped with fridge, kettle etc., large balcony facing the beach. Owner and his team extremely friendly and helpful.

Fresh juice and fruit too and all on the terrace with fabulous views. Not much to dislike, would have been a bonus to know which of the South Indian breakfast dish to expect in the next morning. I am sure the Western breakfast would have been excellent too.

Take care of everything just like a family. We were impressed by their simplicity and the care imparted to us. Nothing bothered us. It's the best stay at kerala out of all our rest of the stays at different places.
• Nick (10/5): Exceptional - This was a lovely place. Brilliantly clean with attentive staff and nice food, as well as nice rooms with with sea view balcony. The infinity pool and roof terace were lovely too! The best bit was the location right on a lovely section of beacch. It's ten minutes walk from the centre of Cherai Beach - but that means the traffic on the road outside is really quiet, and the beach is pretty deserted. Certainly no hawkers or anything like that which you might get on busier sections. It is also a truely spendid beach. Don't be put off by the Google street view walkaround - it's a tropical paradise. I cant think of anything!

• Peter (8/5): The hotel exceeded our expectations. - Excellent location close to the sea, friendly helpful staff, great food. Swimming pool. Sunloungers on beach (& by pool). Room was a bit cramped for two, wi-fi in room was very slow/non-existent (could be because we were in the end room).

Friendly property, a joy to stay in I didn’t enjoy sleeping on the hard beds. This is the only fault I had with the hotel

The entire staff - David and Suresh were more than accommodating and eager to look after us The kitchen is a little away and we had to walk to the next property owned by them. I cannot say, I did not like - the rooms are just adequate for 2 adults. So book accordingly.

We loved that owners are really keeping residency in a good condition, always updating paint work for walls and place looks fresh. Good swimming pool and small library. Rooms with a view to the sea and balconies. There is option to order the food, but waiting time is long. Loved rooftop terrace. We were always provided with new blankets while going to the beach or swimming pool. Personal is very helpful. Washrooms are clean and fresh. Will be happy to come here again. Long waiting time for food

• Marta (10/5): Exceptional place worth every penny! - We absolutely loved our stay at Cheray Beach Residency! Everything was exceptional, we had a beautiful wooden walled room with balcony in the most quiet part of the residency. The swimming pool was clean and so relaxing, surrounded by palm trees and plants who were filtering the sun just right. Just across is a beautiful strip of wild and long sandy beach where you can lounge on the hotel deck chairs... and last but not least Paul, Jess and their staff were amazing. Professional, discreet and attentive to our needs. This is a little paradise on earth worth every penny!

• Shama (2/5): Very poor - The staff were hospitable and decent. Was like a room in a bad home stay . Dirty linen and blanket . Dusty room, no toilet paper or towels on arrival in the room. Very dark, noisy early in the morning. No wifi at all , can go on and on .
