This was a good budget friendly option for us. To get to the subway, it’s a few blocks away, not too far. Surprisingly, I didn’t spot a 7 near us, but a lot of shops around.

- P7162WDlm (2/5): Worst hotel experience ever!! - I’m not even kidding, the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. It looked alright in pictures and sounded fine with reviews, but this place is super run down. The room is fine I guess, but the problem is the bathroom. There was a musty, rancid, moldy smell coming from the bathroom that lingered into the bedroom. My allergies flared up due to the dust and the mold. I physically gagged every time I was in the bathroom. It wasn’t just me who felt this way though, everyone in my family staying in the room (3 of us) all had similar feelings. It was actually impossible to use the bathroom and I’ve never smelled a musty bathroom THAT horrifyingly rancid before. I read back on some reviews and it seems like people had these experiences as well. The staff member at the front desk tried to come and mask the smell with some cleaning spray and said she cleaned the sink (?) and that’s where the smell was stemming from (definitely wrong btw), but nope the smell came right back. Also, they jacked up their prices to over $250usd per night around the holidays when the starting prices for rooms are ~$50. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

- PO SHUAN (8/5): - Ok property. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. Certainly add a lot value on my business trip. It required refresh (and repair) on the room I stayed and the noise level from the hall way/dinning area needs to be in better controlled way.
- Lynette (8/5): - This is a budget-friendly hotel. It’s no ritz-Carlton but the staff are super friendly and accommodating. The amenities were plentiful, and the bed was nice and firm. The building itself is run-down and the hallways smell a bit musty but the rooms themselves are nice. I took one star away because the water pressure in the shower was abysmal. It drove me nuts every time I wanted to shower. Also, there are glass walls for the bathroom so if you’re not careful, everyone in the room can see you naked.

- UbonJames (2/5): Poor... Unless you are an insomniac - In the 26 years of travelling to Taiwan, this has to be the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. The first 3 nights I averaged around 4 hours sleep per night. The final night I managed 7 due to complete lack of sleep and energy. With the rooms being located around the food/social room, you have a wide variety of noise and unpleasantness to experience. Drunks who barge in shouting and dragging furniture anytime between 22:00pm and 03:00am before they slam their room doors and then use the hair dryer for 20 minutes. There are also 2 maids who at 06:00am will slam bins, shuffle their lazy feet, drag furniture, throw around cups and crockery, all the while stuffing their faces with food all day, and giving you nasty looks when you ask for a little quiet. And then, just the general selfishness of people staying here who can’t seem to hold a conversation without shouting, gargling phlegm, and slamming their room doors. The only saving grace was the young man on reception who tried his best to control residents and staff, but even he could not bring myself to give this place anything but the lowest rating, which is still higher than this place deserves.… get a new job in a better “hotel”, young man.! - William (10/5): Decent and reliable basic hotel - I used to stay at this hotel frequently for my business trips and resumed again after the pandemic. This hotel is well-ran, it's very basic but the staff try to keep it very clean. The internet is reliable and there are plenty of eateries nearby. 2 things should be noted: 1) After pandemic, breakfast is no longer made onsite. They merely order breakfast from outside restaurants and pass on a fixed cost to you and the portion is small. In my opinion, unless you are on business travel with tight schedule, it's not worth getting the breakfast option. There are Taiwanese breakfast restaurants just one block away, 7/11 with fresh coffee and pastry on the same block and a night market across the street. The ordered breakfast is only average quality and taste. 2) Probably because of inflation, the room rates have gone up a lot for this property compare to its competitors. I do not think it provides a good value on most days. It's a solid basic hotel but the 'CP value" as Taiwanese would call it, is below average nowadays.
- Jane (4/5): - Stay for 10 days. Have been changed for 4 rooms. First room, full of dust in the corner. Pipe in the washroom broke, water burst and the toilet and whole room was flooded.. Very disappointed with their arrangement! Physical mental and mental torture whole night. Not sincere and apologise especially the manager. Only certain staff attend in respectful manner. Bad odour in the third room when first open the room. Very bad odour in fourth room, especially after shower, stink toilet smells from the drain spreading all over the room. It was happened again after complaints. Poor impression for my Taipei trip.

- Jennifer (4/5): Stay somewhere else - This is easily the worst place we have ever stayed and to qualify that statement we have stayed in some pretty odd places worldwide and are avid campers. I hate to give a poor review but this place didn't have anything good about it except its location was convenient to public transportation. It's really just a few floors of a multi use building. The entire place was very dirty. The laundry room was a nice facility to have but the washer was moldy and the dryer hardly worked. The bathroom was the worst- it smelled horrible and the window in that room doesn't open. The hotel was advertised to have an arcade/game room but it didn't, the staff were very confused when we asked about it. When we showed them the amenities listing they just seemed annoyed and kept saying there was no arcade. I also read about free snacks and drinks- there was one ancient looking juice machine that had two types of sugary drinks with some dirty cups so I guess at least the drinks part is true. We had beg for 1 extra pillow and blanket which the staff made us feel like it was a big favor to provide. There was a constant buzzing noise on and off all night long which was very unsettling as it sounded like wiring in the walls making us worry about a potential electrical fire. We didn't cause a scene and fight to be refunded as we chose a nonrefundable deal but this hotel stay really soured out view of Taipei. I would expect this place to be much cheaper based on its lack of cleanliness and amenities.

- Austin (8/5): - If you’ve ever stayed in a holiday inn express in the U.S., this hotel is basically there in quality. It’s not bad by any means, but it’s not the hilton. If you’re looking for a place that has helpful/friendly staff, transportation ease of accessibility, and an affordable price, then this is it. Our room had some cosmetic wear and tear that was obvious, but again, we’re shooting for the affordable that isn’t a motel 6. I’d recommend for anyone who’s looking for the above things and don’t have their expressions set to hilton/marriott status.

- Wanderer819961 (2/5): Don't stay in Ark Hotel - I accidentally booked 7 nights, as a matter of fact that I will only stay 6 nights. I emailed hotel immediately and asked if I could pay 6 nights upon arrival instead of 7 nights. I was told that I would pay whatever the booking is. Upon arrival, I asked again, saying I would only stay 6 nights instead of 7 nights. Well, I was charged 7 nights anyway. When we got into our room, it was smelly and moldy, very unpleasant smell. My daughter threw up after staying in that room for 30 minutes. I have to ask to change to a different room. The other room smells better and I asked if I could stay in that room for the rest of nights. The front desk told me that would be an upgrade and there's no way I could get an upgrade. So we stayed in that room, packed next morning. At the second evening we were put into another smelly room and I said that room is not suitable for human being to live in. Then we were put into another temporary room. My daughter and I had to packed again in the morning. Finally, on the 3rd night we were arranged into another less smelly room and settled for the rest of staying. The front desk, Vincent , is extremely rude and he won't let me talk. Whenever I tried to tell him that the room was moldy and smelly, he would argue with me and told me that is it. After staying for 6 nights, I started feeling sick as well. It's the mold inside the room. The hotel is really outdated and poorly cleaned.
- Eva (10/5): Comfy, Clean Hotel - The staff is friendly and efficient. The room is very clean, and the bed is comfortable. I wish there was a heater in the room, however, as I was cold. As the hotel is on Taipei, please expect subtropical conditions. The walls were thick enough that no neighboring guests disturbed my peace. I slept well after requesting a second comforter. The bathroom amenities such as soaps, toothbrushes, etc. were plentiful and useful. I'd definitely stay here again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - I’ve stayed here a few times. I like the unlimited soft drinks and coffee. Rooms are generally clean and staff is super friendly. Reasonably located between two major MRT stops and less than 10 min on the MRT to Songshan airport. However, every time I’ve stayed in this hotel, the shower water doesn’t drain. I’m sure there’s a bigger plumbing problem that’s not being addressed, but it’s really gross to stand in ankle deep water while you shower. Also, despite being a fully nonsmoking hotel, there is always the stench of cigarette smoke. A lack of smoke dectors makes it easy for any guest to ignore this rule and get away with it. I hate to say this is a really unfortunate and frustrating thing about a lot of Taiwanese hotels...the management really doesn’t care and not enough people pitch a fit about it for them to even think of doing something about it. ARK hotel, please fix your plumbing and actually fine guests, per the signs you have up everywhere, who smoke in your hotel

Another plus point was that it has a water dispenser along the corridor, which was really convenient for me. - worldlynomadic (8/5): Great Hotel and Central Location - The rooms were always spacious and clean. I highly recommend getting the window room as opposed to the windowless room as the view tends to be nice. Also having natural lighting in your room is just better overall. The breakfast tends to be quite lackluster so I’d recommend saving your 200ntd and finding a nice brunch spot nearby.The breakfast was half an egg, orange piece and a strange sandwich. It’s centrally locates so you can take the bus/MRT to Da an Park or go see Taipei 101. Many fun things to do. The staff are all quite friendly except for one thin woman who tends to have bad days and takes it out on friendly customers. The larger staff were all very friendly and professional. Overall this chain is great despite having one negative worker. (To the hotel: try to improve your breakfast options. Give more of a larger portion traditional English breakfast with 2 eggs, toast/ham, cereal, bacon. Also make sure staff are feeling at least neutral or positive. Customers are smart and can tell when someone is negative or simply not trying, it can dramatically affect someone’s stay. Reward the staff that are bright and showing positive leadership). Room was clean but small and lacked storage so throughout our stay we had to put our toiletries and folded clothes on the tabletop which was very inconvenient. Staff were friendly but they don't go the extra mile to accommodate small requests which was disappointing. Our trip got extended, and they confirmed they still have a lot of vacancies for that night so we decided to stay in the same hotel to save us the hassle of having to m. But they said they couldn't assign us to the same room! and when we asked if they had vancancies they confirmed tstill have a lot of vacant rooms for that day but we could stay in the same room they said it wasn't possible!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Would not recommend this hotel. - The room is too small and breakfast is of small portion. It was enough for me but was not sufficient for husband. The breakfast is of bad quality food. The air condition is installed directly against the bed and that made to feel do bad. Do not vacuum the carpet.

- Jeff (8/5): - It's quite clean with free laundry facility. The staff are very friendly. Even though it's only 10 mins walk to MRT station but under the current humid weather, it still quite challenge to reach MRT station.
- ck (8/5): - Good price for what you get, room is clean but bathroom and shower could be more clean. There’s is a strong musky smell when entering room but once open AC, it is okay. Bathroom sometimes has a weird smell. Breakfast is either McDonald’s or cooked meal which is better than McDonald’s. Overall for the price, it is good.

- KennethK648 (6/5): OK for the price - I booked this hotel purely based on location (I had a dinner appointment at a restaurant on the same street). It was perfectly serviceable but not much more is there to say about it. The room was quite clean, though I could find stray long hairs here and there. Internet connection is decent, though my iPhone had trouble connecting sometimes (a problem that seems quite common as I saw another guest complain about it at the front desk). The small desk in the corner of the room was of a weird height so not very conducive to working. The staff are friendly but their English isn't great so I ended up speaking my poor Mandarin with them to communicate. One thing to note: avoid rooms on the 3rd floor. They basically open out to the main cafe/restaurant area of the hotel. It means you can hear coffee machines making noise as early as 6:30 or 7 am as people come for breakfast. But the bed was quite comfortable, not hard as many hotel beds tend to be in Asia. As another reviewer said, go for it if you get a good price. But it's not worth paying a premium for.

- knowmyhotels (8/5): Not bad if you get a good price... - I stay at this hotel regularly and I think some of the super positive reviewers are a bit over the top. This is an average Taiwanese hotel located in a mix-use older building, really should be 3.5 star. If you get a low price, then it can provide good values, but weekends here can more the double the weekday rate, and it can feel really overpriced for what you get. Good: 1) Room is small, basic but mostly clean, good if you are just here to sleep 2) Good location for food, plenty of convenient stores and eateries, and a small night market is just across the street if you are into cheap eats or need a late night snack 3) Internet is decent speed and mostly reliable over my many stays 4) Good basic amenities: small frig, water kettle, bottle water and safe in the room, and coffee and soda machine in common area Neutral: 1) Location is near popular areas but in the mid-point between 2 subway stations, so I would not recommend dragging your luggage to here as it is a long and draining walk 2) Cleanliness of the room can be a mix bag, depend on which housekeeping person cleaned the room 3) Almost no 2 rooms are of the same floor plan, some are decent while others may have very weird layout Bad: 1) Won't let you check in a minute before 3pm. Even for a regular customer like me, they refused to let me check-in early on a very long stay if I arrive on an early international flight... 2) Hotel sells room for hourly use, intended for young people and couples to have intimacy, so you can expect to see young couples come and go...and hear sounds of people getting intimate if you know what I mean 3) Breakfast is weak... It's not a buffet and more of a set breakfast but a very small one. No menu and they just make up what they serve, on the go, using mostly processed food, just heated up in several airfryer ovens. On busy days, they reduce the size even more, so they have enough food to serve all the guests. Portion is very very small, and they cut up everything to create the illusion of more items...just look at the picture I attached, it's a very typical serving. Breakfast is made-to-order, and not ideal if you are in a hurry to go somewhere... Overall, this is a decent place if you get it super cheap, and you should temper your expectations.
- imsamsi (6/5): Overrated hotel in an old building - We picked this hotel after reading a lot of good reviews but reality is not as good as what we expected. Located not so near to MRT (especially if you are carrying heavy luggage), the building is old and shared with companies and another hotel (which is also fairly common in Taipei), one of the elevator broke down during our stay (which made going up and down takes forever), our bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly (we always found strands of hair in the bathroom not removed), hard to get access to washing machine/dryer (1 machine shared with the whole floor). The worst of all, we extended our stay and the staff gave us significantly higher price. The staff said because "that's the only one room left and breakfast is included". The next morning, we tried to go to breakfast area and were rejected because "you book a cheap room without breakfast option". Good thing: they provide some beverages for free in the common area
- Christine (8/5): - Good location. In between 2 mrt Station. Overall experience is pleasing except there was no cable TV as mentioned on their website.
- Malaueh (8/5): Return stay to Ark Hotel - Stayed in Ark Hotel for 2 nights in Dec ‘18. Was allocated on 10th floor. Still the good, beds were comfortable, sheets were clean. Don’t expect big rooms, just adequate. Free drinks at lobby. Location is alright - just about 8/10 minutes walk from train station exit 4 (Nanjing Fuxing) They do have strict check in and checkout time though.
