Guest Reviews
- Morales (6/5): - Staff is great, bfast was excellent but the beds are tiny & mattress is hard. Must walk a bit or a lot if you want to get to the center & the market 20 de Noviemnre centerwindying streets.
- Valentin (10/5): - Breakfast is delicious and staff treat you like family
- Kenneth (10/5): - Nice Oaxacan style hotel. Nice staff and excellent Oaxacan breakfast.
- Darin (10/5): - The staff were very friendly, informative and helpful. The neighborhood is A+
Great stay!
- Fannie (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Casa Lidia. The location is perfect—quiet and peaceful, yet just a short walk from the city center and close to pretty much everything. The place is beautiful, clean, and full of charm and character. Breakfast was different and delicious every morning. We really appreciated all of Antonio's great suggestions for activities and places to see. We would definitely not hesitate to book again.
- Betty (10/5): - The place is very clean
The staff is super nice and helpful
- Martha Jane (10/5): - Casa Lidia was the perfect haven within Oaxaca. My room was peaceful, comfortable and clean, and the staff were so considerate. I recommend the breakfast, absolutely delicious. Will be recommending to all friends and family!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love Casa Lidia and would be happy to stay there again on my next visit to Oaxaca. The hotel is very clean and quiet. Breakfast is delicious and the whole staff is friendly and welcoming. As a solo female traveler I felt safe and comfortable. The location is great. Jalatlaco is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and a short 10min walk to Centro. Highly recommend.
- Tod (10/5): - Great place..helpful staff..fabulous breakfasts..will stay thete again!
- Christian (10/5): - Great place to stay very quiet clean and safe the staff is very nice and accommodating
- Rachel (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at Casa Lidia. The owners are exceptionally kind and welcoming. The room was clean and pleasant, the courtyard sitting area is lovely, and the breakfast is marvelous!
- Luc (8/5): - Excellent staff members, well organized, easy communication, room was kept clean every day. Hot water in the shower.
Great breakfast included.
The only negative point was noise in the court yard coming from a customer who listened loud to his device.
- Rafael (10/5): - Todo muy bien
- Rebecca (10/5): - The facility was simple but had a lovely courtyard in a colorful neighborhood.
- Eduardo (10/5): - everything, ubicacion, servicio, habitacion, desayuno,etc.
- Amizadai (10/5): - Gorgeous property located in the middle of an artistic district. It was wonderful to walk through the area and it felt safe even in the evening after dark. Lots of eateries and restaurants nearby, as well as galleries and street art.
- Jacquelyn (10/5): - Wonderful place with very friendly and helpful staff!
- Miah (10/5): Quiet and safe - I recommend staying in Jalatlaco because it’s quieter than other parts of the city, especially if you’re a light sleeper. Toño was incredibly helpful and professional. So were the chefs. The staff were amazing. I felt comfortable and safe! If you want a quiet nights rest, stay in Jalatlaco at Casa Lidia!
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Teresa (10/5): - I loved everything about Casa Lidia, so quiet, clean, cute little courtyard, very pleasing all around. Really comfy bed.The area 14 min walk to the historic district, what i love about this area, aways from the hustle. Farm to table, bistro restaurants, corner stores, big park, quaint little shops.Everything within walking distance,
- Tetsuya (10/5): - Staff are friendly and breakfast is charmingly prepared.
- Sean (10/5): I would return - Normally I don't bother writing reviews, but my stay at Casa Lidia was so pleasant I thought it deserved to be known. The ambience was very calm and pleasant, with a patio as pictured. The breakfast room, food and staff were all very nice. The location was easily within walking distance of most anywhere of interest. I would return to that hotel without looking at alternatives, upon re-visiting Oaxaca.
- nancy (10/5): - This really is a hidden gem surrounded by great little restaurants, Cafes, shops and is about a 20min walk to the zocalo. The staff was awesome and always available and knowledgeable of the area. I’ll be staying here again in the near future.
- Veronica Rodriguez (10/5): - Cleanliness, friendly staff, property conditions. We would highly recommend this hotel as a convenient base for truly experience the city.
- Magdaleno (10/5): - Extremely friendly staff, breakfast was delicious, 👌
- Mark (10/5): - Casa Lidia benefits from being in the barrio de Jalatlaco neighborhood, so its quiet and picturesque while still being a walkable distance from key sites in central Oaxaca -- in particular the Church of Santo Domingo that's at the northern end of the central pedestrian walk that forms the north-south axis of most major in-town sites. The host and staff are warm and helpful. I'd stay there again.
- Laurence (10/5): - Really enjoyed staying here for 5 nights, breakfast every morning was superb and different each morning.Basic room but a very comfy bed and nice and quiet and close to ADO bus station. 10/10
- Tom (10/5): - Genuine Oaxaca Experience. Great comfort and cleanliness, with a super friendly and helpful staff, great small restaurant with local cooking on-site for wonderful breakfasts (included in cost), while offering an experience of life typical to how the locals live. Having lived in Oaxaca for 8 years some time ago, I would highly recommend this hotel as a convenient base for truly experiencing the city beyond what the typical tourist might. It was a great, nostalgic, and satisfying return visit to a place I love.
- Natacha (10/5): - Limpiezza y tranquilidad
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Katherine (10/5): Just perfect - Casa lidia was perfect for our stay. It was a short walk into Centro in a really cute area. We were so comfortable in our room and slept really well. The hosts were very helpful and the daily breakfast was delicious! I had eggs with chorizo each day and it was yum!!
- Hiliana (10/5): - It was in a beautiful neighborhood with all the beautiful art on the walls . Safe, clean , and very quiet . 15 from downtown and 20 walking not bad . We walked everywhere, breakfast is different everyday and delicious.
- vera (10/5): Will definitely be returning - Clean, secure, well located, lovely service and delicious breakfast included
- Raeann (8/5): - Very nice staff, quaint neighborhood, cute room. Only down was guests aren’t given outdoor key (small family business) so it’s disruptive to wake staff up if you have a late night. Also depending on other guests, can be a little noisy. But overall excellent service, great location, fantastic breakfast & comfy room
- Ian (10/5): - We spent three weeks here and have nothing but good things to say. The location is easily walkable to the zocolo and the staff are terrific. The breakfasts are varied and delicious.
- George (10/5): - No view or T .V. ,although not a problem for me
- William S (10/5): Delightful - Very quiet place, which is often hard to find in Oaxaca. Located right in the middle of everything where you want to be in Jalatlaco. All the hotel staff were super nice. I met other guests, who have stayed there many times, a good sign — and I get it because it’s a very charming small hotel. Maybe the best part was the breakfast, which was prepared with such care and included in the cost of the room. Would definitely stay there again.
- Anne (10/5): - Lovely people, comfortable accommodations and delicious breakfasts. Easy 20 minute walk to the city center.
- Diane (10/5): - Cordial, helpful staff at this delightful, intimate Casa. Each of my 7days I was presented with a different fresh breakfast.
- Ian (10/5): - Clean and comfy hotel. The staff are terrific and the included breakfast has been a delicious Mexican dish every day.
- Timothy (10/5): - Very nice, affordable, convenient. Staff was the best.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Mary (10/5): - Clean, well located and 24 service. The staff were really kind and attentive.
- Christina (10/5): - Cute little B&B not far from the center of town. Rooms are spacious, no AC but a fan was available in the room. Staff available 24 hrs to monitor the front door and they offered hailing a taxi for you if needed for transport. Breakfast was a small menu of Mexican comfort food, I enjoyed it :)
- Bruce (8/5): - Everything was nice except the breakfast was a bit minimal.
- Douglas (8/5): - I enjoyed the conversations with Antonio. He was knowledgeable of the city of Oaxaca and provided good recommendations. Breakfast was delightful. Staff was courteous. I would stay at this location again.
- Vincent (8/5): - The small property has 10 rooms. It’s common areas are nice and charming. We had room 6 which is right above the entrance so it was a bit noisy when people would arrive and bang on the door. It also has two skylights which illuminated the room at sunrise (you can ask to have them covered, but then the room is very dark). But you don’t really go to Oaxaca to stay in the room so we didn’t mind. Location is convenient to walk everywhere. Service staff was very nice and friendly.
- Jenny (10/5): Quiet, clean and friendly hotel. - This is a lovely little hotel in a great neighborhood (Jalatlaco) about a 10-15 minute walk from the center. It is very quiet, very clean, the beds are comfortable and the hosts were so nice and helpful. It is a modest hotel and has one small charming courtyard but is otherwise very simple. There is no airconditioning and it was very hot the week we were there, but we were fine on the cooler first floor with fans. Breakfast is available if you order the night before. Staying here is definitely a great value.
- LESLIE (8/5): Small, cozy, comfortable. - A small, quiet posada in a developing neighborhood. Breakfasts available and free coffee all day. Very helpful, friendly hosts. Stayed 3 weeks and enjoyed every day.
- salvador (8/5): - This property is very small and feels cozy. It did not have a TV but it didn’t matter because I didn’t come to see television but to explore the city.the staff is very nice and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone.
- Nancy and Pierre (10/5): - The Casa was very quiet and clean and staff was very helpful.
- Deborah (10/5): - A lovely Casa in an historic neighborhood. The interior space was classically tiled with cafe tables among plants for sitting outside the room. The room was small but well appointed and very clean. The staff were terrific. I paid for a delicious breakfast in the little dining room.
- Dan (8/5): Casa Lidia. Great place to stay - Great place near historic downtown by walk.
Safe neighborhood.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Casa Lidia is a clean place.
I definitely recommend this place.
- Marguerite (10/5): - This was a very sweet place - altho a couple of blocks off the beaten path. The staff were really nice and incredibly helpful. The rooms were simple - shower was really hot. One thing not included in the Expedia price is taxes - so instead of being $58 it comes to about $70 with taxes.
- Sergio (10/5): Muy recomendable - Excelente
- Henry (6/5): - Colorful, fun neighborhood. Go inside a huge metal door to get to a quiet courtyard where the rooms are.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Always acccomodating, and spotlessly clean.
- Jessica (10/5): - A very friendly, clean and enjoyable stay in the heart of a quaint area of Oaxaca. We were happy with the stay and would stay here again.
- Susie (10/5): - Friendly staff, lovely property, excellent location, exceptional breakfast! I met a woman from Chicago who has been coming here for 20 years, staying 3 months at a time. That says alot.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Beautiful, quiet, friendly B&B - Highly recommend Casa Lidia! The B&B is very cute, comfortable rooms, delicious (free) breakfast, and only a 10 minute walk to the center of town. We felt very safe walking to and from Casa Lidia and it was nice to be in a more quiet part of town. There is someone always at the front desk and they helped us get a taxi very very early in the morning for the airport. Thank you again Casa Lidia!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, breakfast was very delicious. Room was clean ll b happy to stay there again in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Value and Great Service in Oaxaca - Casa Lidia is an exceptional value in Oaxaca travel. The rooms are attractively decorated and comfortable. The breakfasts are uniformly tasty and well presented. The location is quiet but about .5 km from the tourist center of Oaxaca. Although the rooms do not have TV or air conditioning and there is no parking, I don't watch much TV, there was no need for AC and I did not have a car, so these were not problems. I highly recommend Casa Lidia for the personal service of the hotel staff.
- Juan A (8/5): Good hotel, good room. Very good breakfasts - Breakfast was good. Distance to downtown is about 15 min, not too far but not close. We stayed in mid April and it was hot, the room didn’t have very good ventilation, but the fan helped. Anyway, we did had a good stay, quality-price
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I am fortunate to have found Casa Lidia for my stay in Oaxaca. It was very easy to navigate from here and is in a nice quiet neighborhood. The staff was amazing and so helpful in arranging taxis. Knowing I was going to enjoy a good breakfast was a great start for a day of heat and walking. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. You have to like walking because it is a bit off the beaten path which makes staying here that much more enjoyable.
- Josiane (8/5): Casa Lidia, Oaxaca - Caca Lidia was close to the center only a 15 minute walk away although at times a little hard to walk on a cobblestone street. The room was comfortable but dark without the overhead light. The lighting was inadequate for reading and there was no t.v. I didn’t mind but my husband wasn’t too happy about that. Of course I had my IPad.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, wonderful breakfast, nice courtyard
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful, friendly, clean. - The staff were always helpful, helping us book tours (best English tour we've had in Mexico) and a taxi to the airport. Our stay in Oaxaca was fantastic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a wonderful 2 night stay at Casa Lydia.
Very clean, super comfortable bed, very friendly and attentive service.
Location is a bit of a walk from town center (5-6 blocks) but I always felt safe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family trip to Oaxaca - We spent 10 days at Casa Lidia and could not be happier with our stay. We brought our 2.5 year old with us and we’re blown away by the amazing breakfasts, knowledgeable & thoughtful staff, and how clean and lovely the hotel was. Note: they don’t have cribs available, so we just traveled with a (Peapod) pop-up tent that fit in our suitcase, and it worked great.
- lois (8/5): - Casa Lidia is a cozy, immaculately clean and friendly place to stay. amazing for the price as well...
its not fancy but it feels like someone is taking care of you... highly recommended. 15 min walk to the Cathedral.. but quiet away from the chaos of central...
- DayoftheDead (10/5): - This was my first time in Oaxaca City and Casa Lidia was the perfect choice. The location was ideal, five minutes to San Miguel cemetery in one direction and ten to Santo Domingo church in the other (Some other reviews are saying it's twenty minutes to the city center, but they must have been walking slowly. Granted, I walk pretty fast.). This made it perfect given that I was there for the Day of the Dead. My room was spotless (as was the rest of the hotel) and they served a great breakfast each morning. The staff was amazing and made me feel very welcome; my server Alicia was great and Flor was always professional and prompt in her e-mails. Flor even gave me advice on how to make hot chocolate the way they make it and then instructed me on the best brands of chocolate and where to buy. Seriously, who does that? The neighborhood is very quiet and the gated entrance provided added security; someone was there to answer the door day and night, so getting back in was never an issue. For convenience, location, cleanliness and value for money, I would definitely stay there again. Likewise, I would recommend this casa to my friends if they are ever in Oaxaca.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming B &B - We had several lovely days in wonderful Oaxaca. Our host found us a great tour of Monte Alban.
- DB (10/5): Lovely, small, well-run b&b in quiet neighborhood - Wonderful stay in small, family-run b&b on quiet cobble-stoned street, 10-minute walk from Santo Domingo. Rooms were exceptionally clean; beds very comfortable (we like a firm mattress); clean, crisp, newly ironed cotton sheets daily; fans to cool the Oaxacan heat. Breakfasts were marvelous-- fresh fruit, coffee, juice, regional dish or eggs or yogurt & granola, hot chocolate & sweet breads. Toilet handle malfunctioned (maybe our fault) on Easter Sunday & they called in repair guy & had it fixed in 10 minutes. Super responsive! Great value & away from loud craziness of central Oaxaca. Would highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast that was included changed everyday and was very filling. Hot chocolate to die for. Staff were Very helpful.
- Pendeja (4/5): Austere - It simply does not feel welcoming. You need to knock on iron gate for entrance.I was not shown around the place to familiarize. No shelf in bathroom for toiletries, you can hear folks in other rooms using bathrooms & snoring, no art on the walls, no 5 gallon bottle of agua potable in common area. The breakfast is OK, one time, but not for multiple days. THE BREAKFAST and CLEANING STAFF are GREAT! I travel a fair amount and can tolerate a range of habitaciones: to reiterate, this place simply did not feel inviting, like a true B&B.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely staff; good value hotel - My room was large and very clean. The breakfasts were excellent and varied each day. The staff were helpful and friendly.
This location might be better for people who are experienced with Oaxaca and speak some Spanish. It's a long walk or inexpensive taxi ride to the center & tourist sites.
The internet is agonizingly slow, but that's been my experience in both Oaxaca and multiple Mexico City locations.
- Ethan (10/5): A Lovely Quiet Hotel - Casa Lidia is the perfect base for exploring Oaxaca. On a very quiet street outside of the centre but an easy walk to anywhere. Comfortable beds, lots of hot water and excellent breakfasts ( all included in the reasonable room rates). The staff couldn’ t be friendlier or more helpful.
- RayK (8/5): Good walking to all - They served a great breakfast with a different freshly cut fruit each morning. Decent location within walking distance of most places of interest. The Casa is spotless and staff are helpful and friendly. We would return here for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A Well-Managed B&B - This B&B in the barrio of Jalatlaco has a very high standard of cleanliness. The staff and the breakfasts are very good. The only downside for me was having cold showers (though the water to the basin was hot) and the distance to Santo Domingo Church (about a 12 minute walk), which was a bit farther than I would have liked. The street outside the B&B is quiet, with uneven stone paving. Overall, it is a good budget choice for someone wanting to stay in a more residential area in the centre of Oaxaca.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I plan to return to Casa Lidia next year - Casa Lidia is located right near the centro. The rooms are large and attractive. The beds are very comfortable. Staff cleans the rooms daily including mopping the floor. The breakfasts are large and delicious. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They will give you directions, recommendations, or call a taxi for you.
- lgs (10/5): Great B and B - Great bed and breakfast in walking distance to downtown. Breakfast was large and varied each day. Plenty of hot water for showers and staff very helpful. Definitely staff again.
- Sus (10/5): Lovely and comfortable B%B - Three of us shared their room for 4, 2 double beds that were comfortable. A large room so we were not falling on each other, decorated quite nicely with colonial furniture. Large closet and lots of shelves. Wonderful instant hot water. All personnel super nice and went out of their way to answer all questions and advice us on places to go. We loved out walks to downtown, so much to see and do, about 15-20 minutes. Also, the barrio, Jalatlaco, is intriguing and we loved the restaurants and cafe. ¡Mucha gracias a todos!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Sweet gem of a place - I️ stayed here a week recently over Christmas. I️ slept great, felt right at home. This place is spotless! I️ love the decor and the yummy big breakfast and excellent brewed cofffee. No complaints. I’m going there again on this trip
- Verified traveler (8/5): Liked, but has few drawbacks - I liked this place, but it has some drawbacks. Very clean basic Mexican place. Service staff were outstanding. Love the breakfasts. However, walk to town was about 20 minutes and can seem lonely after dark. Also sound carries within hotel. There is no air conditioning so if you want air you need to keep window open so privacy is lacking. We could here others talk, cough, snore etc. in our room. We stayed a week on second floor in room 10 (there are only ten rooms). Hot water was inconsistent—only existed for about first 2 minutes of our showers. Other guests did not have a problem with this. At approx $50 a night, it was a good value if you don’t mind lack of privacy and walking distance from town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overall, it was a great experience. The front desk was very helpful and prompt in answering my questions before I arrived. The room was large and clean, breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
- kateryna (10/5): - Beautiful, authentic and quiet area, friendly hosts and delicious breakfasts!
- Paul (10/5): - Welcoming staff , great value
- vikas (8/5): Great value - Nice place. Friendly service. Excellent breakfast. Very accommodating.
- Jaime (10/5): Happy staying - Hotel is ultra clean and quiet, breakfast was simple but delicious. Personal was kind and helpful. Hotel is in excellent condition.
