The resident monkeys entertained us by playing on our balcony and running over our roof. The pool was a little cloudy - it could have been clearer.

• Audrey (1/5): - Scam beware . Option for room only is untrue he will make you pay for the safari or cancel your room This was a scam. We booked the room only option and once we arrived the manager told us if we didn’t book the safari too through him he would cancel our rooms and we’d have to find alternative accommodation. At half 9 at night, two girls being told they would be kicked out if they didn’t comply was very threatening and made us feel very uncomfortable. (Also no towel in one room, no sheet in the other and no WiFi but the forced safari kinda trumped those little things)

• Elsa (9/5): Agréable et reposant - Les piscines sont très chouettes et propres. Il y a beaucoup de singes dans les arbres mais c’est très choupi. Les sortes de maisons sont spacieuses, propres et agréable. La salle de bain dehors rajoute un petit plus. Le jet de la douche est très faible et la lumière le matin entre dans les chambres.

• Samuel Puškár (10/5): - Easily the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka, awesome little houses, nice pool, even the fish massage pool was fun addition. The rooms are spacious and the outdoor bathroom is so lovely and cozy. The breakfast buffet is delicious as is the rest of the food, big portions for great prices. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, after arrival we got chilled towel and a juice. Loved it!

• Pomodya (8/5): - Located by the main road with a bus stop very nearby, thus very convenient to reach using public transport. I booked 2 of the simple 'tent' type accomodation for 1 night and it was ok for the price. The bed was extremely comfortable and can easily get a good night's rest. Having 2 swimming pools meant it wasn't crowded so could have a relaxing swim. Fish massage pool was also there seperately. Breakfast buffet had options for vegetarians. Outdoor sitting was good since inside of tent can be cramped. The bed takes up quite a large space so can feel a bit cramped. Would be nice if there was some desk to keep little misc things, however given space limitations I don't think that's feasible. As someone who is 5'3 it was incredibly hard to switch on the hot water heater in the bathroom (it was switched off upon entering). In addition, the bathroom had an unpleasent smell that took some getting used to (but manageable with the exhaust fan)

The breakfast buffet was excellent with a huge variety of options, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We feel so welcome! Definitely staying here again. On the other hand, our A/c & wifi were not working properly
• hicampbell (9/5): Great safari nature stay with amazing food and comfortable rooms - The property itself was amazing, the dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were amazing, the safari organised for us by the front desk at last minute notice was also excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the outdoor bathroom in our room, and the fish massage was an entertaining touch! It is a peaceful and beautiful stay and we would have loved to stay longer. Just a few little miscommunications with the staff - we were double charged for a drink on our bill and it was a bit of a mess to try and sort it out. In the end we said we were happy to just pay for it anyway but the female manager said she was sorting it out - though we felt that they were a little hostile with us about this situation. Also, after check in, we noticed there was some sort of animal (rat, possum?) in our ceiling making strange noises. We tried to call through to reception to ask for a change but the phones weren't working. We went to the front desk to ask about it, the same female manager said she would send someone over to check. We waited in our room for an hour but no one came. We ended up just giving up on it, but for some people it could be a bit bothersome. We still enjoyed our stay but something to be aware of with service.
• Elizaveta (1/5): הזיה - לא ממליצה את המקום הזה לישראלים! בהתחלה הכל היה מושלם לפרט העובדים בצ׳ק אין. ברגע שנתתי להם את הדרכון שלי הסתכלו עליי בצורה הכי מסריחה שיש. אבל הכניסו אותנו הביאו לנו את החדרים שלנו והכל היה בסדר עד שהייתי צריכה לשלם בערב. באתי לכניסה והייתי צריכה לחזור בחזרה לחדר שלי לקחת כרטיס אחר כי מסתבר שהם מקבלים לא כל הכרטיסים. אז ברגע שחזרתי בפעם השנייה עם כרטיס אחר ראיתי פתאום עוד שלושה שוטרים. חשבתי שזה לא קשור אליי אז המשכתי ורציתי לשלם. העובד שהחמיץ פנים מקודם התחיל להגיד לי שאלה השוטרים והם רוצים ״לעזור״ לי לכן הם צריכים דחוף לדעת את הכתובת שלי בארץ בגלל המצב הפוליטי. נבהלתי ואמרתי שאני גרה בגרמניה ושאלתי אם הם עדיין צריכים את הכתובת שלי. הם שאלו אותי שוב על הכתובת הישראלית בלבד וברגע שלא עניתי שחררו ממני. לא הצלחתי לעצום עיניים באות הלילה כי פחדתי שיעשו לי משהו תוך שאני ישנה. זה לא מקובל בשום פנים ואופן.

• Ryan (8/5): Great place to stay for national park - This was a perfect place for us to stay to visit Udalawawe national park. We stayed for 2 nights to do morning safari and then relax by the pool in the evening. The resort is lovely with 2 pools, a restaurant and a fish massage pool which was hilarious to try. Our room was really spacious and had a/c and a fridge which was needed after a hot day. Lovely big outdoor bathroom! Lots of visits from the chipmunks which were cute to watch. The restaurant was really reasonably priced and big portions of Sri Lankan rice and curry. Also a short distance into town if you want to explore further. Good bar called the Chill Inn for great views of the mountains at sunset.

• Emma (7/5): A Unique Stay - Kottawata Village is a truly unique place to stay. Sleeping amongst the coconut trees and watching monkeys play overhead while you swim is the kind of experience you simply don’t forget. The staff were great, attentive and made us feel genuinely welcome, the food was delicious with a good selection of local options Our one note would be that the rooms are a little tired in places and could do with some freshening up
• Tamara (10/5): Amazing ☺️ - We had by far our most luxurious stay here during the four weeks we were fortunate enough to spend on this incredible island. The hotel complex fully meets European standards. Everything is impeccably clean, the service is exceptionally attentive, and the English is excellent. The pools are perfect for relaxing, and the entire property is beautifully designed and very well maintained.

Die Safari war top organisiert, wir hatten einen super Guide der sich richtig Zeit genommen hat. Da wir dann zu spät fürs Frühstücks Buffet kamen, haben die Mitarbeiter im Restaurant uns ein eigenes kleines Buffet aufgetischt. Da unsere Pläne sich spontan geändert haben, wollten wir am Anreisetag von zwei auf eine Nacht verkürzen und auch das war absolut kein Problem.

• Aeneas (7/5): A comfortable hotel for safaris in Udawalawe - The hotel is perfect for Safari trips in Udawalawa. The most Safari provider can pick you up there. The tents where spacious. There is a pool outside for the afternoon since there is not much to do in town except Safaris. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful with lush green spaces. The bathroom is outdoor and very clean. The location of the hotel isn't great. You have to walk along a dangerous street with little light and no space for pedestrians to get to the restaurants of Kottawatta. The isolation of the tent is horrible, we had to let our AC run throughout the day to have a cool tent in the evening. The AC was necessary against mosquitoes because the mosquito net already had holes in it. At the same time the AC is very loud (sometimes more, sometimes less. When you start to fall asleep, it will probably get louder and wake you up again), so it is not very comfortable to sleep with AC on. Don't pack breakfast from the hotel, it tastes awful and is too much. We had to throw away way too much food in the end.

• Tarek (10/5): Jungle escape - Great rustic style stay surrounded by nature. The cabins are clean and comfortable, and the pool view cabin with an outdoor bathroom is a unique experience that really connects you with nature. The bathtub overlooking greenery and the sky is amazing (just watch out for a few insects 😂). The whole place feels like a true jungle escape. You can hear and see birds and animals all around. We even had a hornbill visit our bathroom one day! At night, outdoors or in the pool, the sounds make you feel like you’re deep in the wild. It’s a perfect spot for a safari stay, as they organize trips to the national park. Our guide, Navidu, was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was very good, and the restaurant meals were excellent too. The team overall is kind and helpful. Definitely a worthwhile experience! AC needs to be stronger
• Knapik (10/5): Wyjątkowe miejsce w genialnej cenie. - Byliśmy zaskoczeni jaki to piękny wygodny obiekt przy tak niskiej cenie! Przeszklone śliczne domki, łazienki jak w dżungli - pod chmurką, ale bardzo czyste i super wyposażone, duży super zadbany basen dosłownie przed domkiem, przemiła obsługa no i restauracja…. Ceny jak 1/3 tych na wybrzeżu a jedzenie doskonałe :D ogromne krewetki, chicken masala, każde danie było świetne. Oprócz tego super kontakt mailowy, bezproblemowe ogarnięcie safari - świetne miejsce, bardzo polecam. Wszystko było super.

Restaurant staff were particularly good - Breakfast was great - good options for traditional Sri Lankan breakfast as well as for fussier kids! Loved the proximity to wildlife and the view of the forest from the deck of our rooms! Great natural environment and wonderfully designed. Only very small complaint was that the photographs I could see are only of the more deluxe tents and the only option I was presented for booking was the standard tents - maybe because I have a larger family? In any case we were initially a little disappointed because we’d been expecting the fancier rooms and I would have liked the option to select those at booking. Great price though so no complaints there!
• Lorna (1/5): Hated this place beyond belief - Nothing I booked this on the basis of the reviews and all I can say is they must have been made up. The tents were as far from luxurious as you could get. Dirty mosquito nets which didn't go down to the bottom of the bed. My air conditioning didn't work at all and I had to be moved. My friend's air conditioning unit leaked all over her bed and she had to be moved. The place just felt extremely shabby. Even though we had to pre-order dinner for a specific time we had to wait 45 minutes for sub-standard food (basically a bowl of rice with 1 shrivelled up and dry chicken skewer). The staff were surly and completely disinterested (apart from a young man in the restaurant whose name I think begins with 'Sh'. He was lovely). One positive (and the only one) was the elephant safari we went on, organised by the hotel. The driver was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife and whizzed us to the best viewpoints of the elephants. Overall, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Please don't ignore this review
• Audrey (1/5): - Scam beware . Option for room only is untrue he will make you pay for the safari or cancel your room This was a scam. We booked the room only option and once we arrived the manager told us if we didn’t book the safari too through him he would cancel our rooms and we’d have to find alternative accommodation. At half 9 at night, two girls being told they would be kicked out if they didn’t comply was very threatening and made us feel very uncomfortable. (Also no towel in one room, no sheet in the other and no WiFi but the forced safari kinda trumped those little things)

• SOUVAARNA (9/5): Dreamy nature escape - The room was spacious , well equipped. Good welcome at the reception. The outdoor but private showers were a fun experience. Enjoyed in the pool , relaxed on the hammock and swing. The property is really beautiful with greenery all around. Large selection of food offered at the breakfast buffet. 4km from the elephant transit home and safari planning done at the hotel itself. The dinner served at the restaurant was disappointing.

• Christian From France (10/5): - Nous avons séjourné 2 jours dans cette hôtel et avons apprécié le calme, la propreté et le personnel tout était parfait ,je recommande Peut être les toilettes a ciel ouvert pourraient être un petit peu plus isolées par une cloison simple en bambou pour un peu plus d'intimité, mais cela ne nous a pas vraiment gêné.

• Tobias (9/5): Schöner Aufenthalt - Nachdem unser Zimmer defekt war wurde uns sofort ein anderes Zimmer mit kostenlosem Upgrade angeboten. Beim Check out bekamen wir sogar noch einen Rabatt. Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war sehr reichlich.

Proposition de taxi par l’accueil pour se rendre à Tissa, prix très élevé, n'hésitez pas à voir ailleurs. Sinon safari très bien.

• Dale (10/5): - An enchanting location surrounded by nature with a large and exceptional swimming pool. The room is clean, and the outdoor bathroom adds a touch of rustic charm. The food at the restaurant is excellent, and the breakfast buffets are well worth it. It's the perfect base for a safari in the national park, but beware: some drivers try to scam you by paying the entrance fee themselves at the park gate and demanding more than the actual price.
