Guest Reviews
- Theresa (10/5): - Great
- Chieu (2/5): - Found fecal matter on bathroom wall above toilet paper dispenser. Asked for refund, which was given. Staff not friendly.
- Brandie (8/5): - This property was clean, affordable, and convenient location in Simsbury with great options for dining within a half mile. No frills and the decor is a bit dated, but for the price in this location it's a solid option.
Notes: I didn't see any elevator (we also didn't ask) and there is no coffee maker in the room although there is some in the morning next to the reception desk. It is not pet friendly.
- Carol B. (8/5): - We enjoyed having a balcony to relax at the end of the evening and sit out on for a cip of coffee in the morning but there was no in room coffee service. There was a fridge and microwave but no coffee maker. My hubby had to get dressed and go downstairs and grab a few cups. While not a major issue it is something we start our day with. The other thing also mentioned in other reviews is that there were no bath towels in our room. Im not sure why this would be an ongoing issue but fortunately we realized it at 10pm so we could still get them. We would stay there again but come prepared.
- Ernest (6/5): - The room was adequate and clean. No amenities like stationery or pen, shampoo etc. I expected coffee in room. Lobby was depressing. Hotel exterior needs painting. Internet connection was good. TV was deluged with advertisements. There was an A/C unit, did not seem to be any heat control for the room. The room was slightly too cold. OK for the price I guess.
- Virginia (6/5): - The hotel was very convenient and the owners were accommodating. The property and the room were lost somewhere in the 1970’s, though, and could use some serious updating. Stains on the carpet, frost in the mini fridge, and a bug in the ice bucket were low points. This is Simsbury, though, and the nightly rate is very low for the valley, so you should understand that you get what you pay for. For my needs, it was adequate.
- Donna (2/5): - This hotel was gross, not sure why it has good reviews on Expedia. My sheets were stained, the bed was uncomfortable, there was a cockroach mummified in the framed picture on the wall, and the mini fridge was dirty. Can’t believe I spent $100 for a night here.
- Amy (2/5): - This is a solid 1-star motel. The towels were very clean, at least. The room was old and dingy. The beds were truly awful. What you might expect for $65 or $70 a night; $125 is wildly overpriced and incredible that they charge so much. If you’re really cheap, go somewhere else. If you can pay $125, get a room at another hotel, or even better, one of the lovely b&bs in the area.
- Justin (10/5): - The place is great the owners are very nice and treat you with five star quality I stay here everytime I come to connecticut
- Verified traveler (6/5): A little disappointing - room was a nice size
carpet needed some attention
the closet had a metal object on the floor
deadbolt and slip-lock made me feel safe
owner was helpful with the laundry
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Everything about this place was old and very dated. It was okay for a fast overnight stay on my trip but next time I’d choose something else.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Ok place for one night stay.. needs update
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner was very nice!
- Min (8/5): - it is pretty clean and convenient. Worth the price
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff and SUPER clean room, but extremely dated furnishings and decor… Like taking a time machine back to 1974.
But location is great and you get what you pay for!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay!
- Jennifer (8/5): Lovely stay - We had a great stay. The gentleman who ran the hotel was very kind and helpful. The room was a bit outdated but clean and comfortable, good value for the $ and central location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - right location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very basic older hotel, but clean, quiet, and a great value for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious, comfortable room with all the amenities we wanted and needed. Friendly service. Convenient location to our event and restaurants. Reasonably priced. Overall, excellent value. No complaints.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - PROS:
The only redeeming qualities about the motel was plenty of parking, clean rooms, and reasonable rates.
CONS:
The toilet was loose.
The bath tub drain would not seal to fill the tub.
There was no elevator.
There were too many steps leading down to the office.
My room which faced the highway was very noisy.
- Chad (8/5): - Room was clean, as was the hotel, but could use updating. The bedspreads were from 1978. I’d stay again for short overnight stays.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and homey. Mom and pop shop with a nice personal touch.
- Joe (10/5): - Quiet, clean, safe. Plenty of good places to eat within a 2 minute drive or walking distance.
- Abra (6/5): - It was available.
Ok is best answer.
Old and dated is a gross understatement.
If its your last resort, you’ll survive. If there is another option theres a good chance its better.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and safe, family owned. Owners on site all the time. Great restaurants nearby.
- Matt (4/5): - Facilities were run down. Room smelled of smoke. The sheets did as well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I thought the air conditioner unit could use some cleaning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was nice had a small balcony overlooking a pool that had very cold water overall for one night stay it's not bad if you have something to do and one of the surrounding towns
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great deal in a nice town. Friendly staff, too. Highly recommended.
- Dana (6/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Beds were not comfortable and pillows were very flat. And I didn’t like getting threatened with a $90 fine if I lost either key
- Vinson (8/5): Would go back! - Nice privately owned hotel. Service was awesome. Place is very clean and spacious. Just outdated but it dose the job.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel manager was such a great guy, very attentive to the guests!!!?
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing fancy or special here, but clean and convenient.
- Andre (8/5): - It was one of the quietest hotels I've stayed at . A little out dated but so is my house . Clean and quiet .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was big, i like having two sinks. The bed is is like laying on a flat rock that bounces.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Owned and run by an older Indian couple; they themselves were nice enough, but the room was not clean. Found multiple hairs in the bedsheets, implying they were not washed from the previous guests, as well as an overall grimey/sick feeling throughout the building and room. When I brought up the dirty sheets the next morning, they apologized but told me I should have called them and asked for fresh sheets...that's not something that I should have even been required to do if it was clean to begin with. I left a day earlier than I reserved, the owner said "okay no problem," refunding me nothing despite my complaints and early departure. Would not recommend.
- Kimberley (8/5): - Our stay was fine, the room was large and clean. Would stay again.
- Tim (10/5): - Not fancy, but very affordable and close to whatever there is in Simsbury.
- Judy (8/5): - Reasonably priced, large clean room, carpet and curtains rather new. Bed was comfortable. Quick friendly check in. Was surprised by the quality for the price. Would stay there again and also recommend to family and friends.
- Rita (2/5): Some different 20 years later - The room assigned to me was a last minute decision and perhaps it hasn’t been cleaned properly first, but it was NOT good and I checked out a day earlier than planned. Toilet was dirty and water kept running so I had to take the back off of the tank and fix it myself. There was a bug on top of the bed when I got up in the morning, I googled it and it was not a bed but, thankfully.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice clean quiet room peaceful surroundings excellent service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good, but the dated room and less than modern appliances made it feel 'seedy'.
- wayno (6/5): - only needed room to sleep n shower, worth it for the price but its not a place to spend time in, they did have a big clean pool, which we didnt take use of but it was big n clean
- Verified traveler (2/5): Great town but not a great stay - This hotel is in a central location of a quaint New England town. However the room smelled and the desk manager wasn't friendly. I asked to see the room and that seemed to have offended him. The room needed updates and tiles were missing on the floor. This was the worst room I ever stayed in.
- Lauren (8/5): Money well spent - My only real complaint was our door took forever to open with the key. The first time we had to walk all the way back downstairs (we had just finished running a half marathon and lugged our suitcases up 3 flights of stairs!) to get help. They were super friendly and someone came up to help us, she even said it was tricky and needed extra work to get the door unlocked. It probably took us a minute or so to get it open each time after that. The lock/knob should just be replaced if they're aware that it doesn't work properly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Wrong room - We were given smoking room despite our reservation for non smoking
They won’t switch the room so we checked out and requested a refund
- Victoria (6/5): Basic but met our needs. Could be more! - This hotel was very basic but met our needs. The rooms are a good size and have 2 sink areas, a microwave, and refrigerator. The bed was concrete. Possibly adding a 2-3 inch mattress topper could help. It definitely needs to be updated. There were no electrical outlets close to the bed that were accessible. Very strange since most people charge phones by the bed and use them for alarms. Again, it met our needs, was clean and one of the few options in the area that was less than $100 per night. Pool looked nice but we did not use and I wasn't sure of the pool hours. That said, it could be so much more. Brighten up the paint outside and some basic updating could make this place sparkle and make it more comfortable!!!! The location is great as it is walking distance to a small shopping area, Starbucks, J. Foster Ice Cream, and parks.
- Paul (8/5): - Good place, good location a little worn could use an update
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel in Simsbury if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel to use as a base for your visit. Hopefully the pool will be open soon.
