Guest Reviews
- Raymond (6/5): - Good value. Its an old style drive up motel
- Alex (2/5): - Whole room was very dirty and smelled of smoke so bad we got headaches.
- William (10/5): - Very clean. Comfortable room. Great location in the center of everything and 15 minutes from Corning glass museum. Quiet. Restaurants and shopping nearby. Nice staff. Great price!
- S P Srinivas Reddy (10/5): - I had a wonderful experience at the Relax Inn Elmira! The location is perfect — just a few minutes from Elmira Airport, which made my travel so convenient. There are food outlets and restaurants nearby, so grabbing a quick bite was never a problem.
The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable — I had some of the best sleep I’ve had while traveling. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip!
- Debra (4/5): - No food or drink options, dead bugs on floors, bathroom mat dirty, beds squeaked when sleeping, walls had cracks and scrapes, door did not fit properly in the frame, additional charges at check in, tried to overcharge me for the room, bathroom walks above shower were wet, bathtub spigots were half hanging out, unable to turn off water in bathtub/shower…this place was a complete dump
- Douglas (2/5): Awful place - So im a travel nurse. I had called 3 weeks prior to my stay if they allow early check ins at morning. After my shift. Moat hotels accomadate me. Some dont. The ones that dont, its no big deal. As ill politely go sonewhere else that does. Well, i get told that i can check in early if there is room available. Totally understand if they are sold out. So the day of check in, i get told by said lady who is owner that i cant check in early . I asked her in a nice way why did she tell me i could a few weeks ago. Then she tokd me she does have a room , but i have to pay an extra night. Mind you its 8 am at this time. An extra night? Not when she told me i can check in early .. she insisted no hotels do that. I travel to city to city. Most hotels let me do it. Some dont. Thats why i call ahead of time. I told her econo lodge let me do this. She gave me an attitude and said i can stay at econo lodge then. I told i will ... do i call hotels.com. saying i dont want to get charged for cancelling reservation late. Hotels.com called owner. Kind of smoothed things over and she said she wont charge me an extra night if i come back... so i come back and she had the nerve to tell me i had an attitude when i walked in. I absolutely did not. Only have she told me i can go somewhere else, did i give an attitude . Issue 2- i didnt expect a 10 percent fee sign if booking reservations.
I have never paid extra 10 percent fee after booking through hotels.com. ridiculous
- Kevin (2/5): - The motel cancelled my reservation without calling me and left me with no place to stay. They gave my reservation away and were "sold out" when I tried to check-in.
- Susanna (10/5): - The description on Expedia didn't do it justice. There was a very nice midsize refrigerator and a microwave. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I was disappointed in was that they tried to charge me an extra 10% fee over the price I paid Expedia when I checked in. The clerk said she would ask about taking it off and they did not pursue it so far. The desk clerk was pleasant and courteous. They made up the room without me asking! Motel was just a few minutes from the airport but was peaceful and seemed safe.
- Kashyap (8/5): - Location of the motel is really good. East facing
The room smelled of ciggarettes.
- Janeen (6/5): - It's exactly what you expect for the price. A little sketchy and I could see the outdoors when I shut the door (add the weather stripping already). BUT the sheets were super clean. Also, the air freshener they used could be removed. It is too strong and impacts air quality. It's fine for $80/night.
- Olivia (2/5): - It was really dirty and the beds were dirty too
- Pedro (10/5): - Clean and affordable place !!
- Leslie (8/5): Classic motel with basic comfort & amenities - This is a vintage midcentury motel tucked away on a side street. The lady who checked us in was friendly and welcoming. Our room was small as expected in a vintage place. Regardless, everything worked, the beds were comfortable, the linen crisp. The bathroom was renovated. Fridge & microwave were clean and useful. Wifi was quite good. The motel was set on a large lot with lawn, gardens, outdoor table. Good for birdwatching. The highway (I-86) is up a slope to the rear of the property; some traffic noise was audible but the A/C fan filtered it out. All in all a nice little place--we'd stay there again.
- Donald (10/5): - Clean quick place to get sleep while workibg in the area
- Jefferson (10/5): Agood place to stay - Clean and quiet. 15 min from Corning Museum.
- Dawn (4/5): - Snowing outside and the card key did not work (I had to go back to the office to get it programmed), refrigerator had mold in it (photos upon request), top of the door did not fully close (warped), smoke alarm battery dead (continuous beeping) so I had to take it down since no response from front office.
- Diane (10/5): Nice - It was a nice stay. Quiet and very clean.
- Gordon (8/5): - Liked: Location - Just off I-86 & easy to find. MAJOR shopping area within 1 mile so found Dinner, stuff we needed, Breakfast within minutes of Relax Inn. Even with I-86 just behind the Inn we didn't hear it unless outdoors. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Room was clean. Beds were excellent.
Not So Good: Room was somewhat worn. Paint, caulk, bathroom fixtures need touchups. (if you redo the bathroom, consider adding Grab Bars in the shower.)
Overall, we would stay here again if our route/schedules permitted. If you are expecting a resort experience you will be dissapointed. If you are looking for a place to stop for a night or two, the Relax Inn is perfect. (The backyard is perfect for a quiet picnic with a table and chairs.)
- Ayush (10/5): - I don’t know why people had terrible reviews but I stayed there for two days and there was no issue.
- Desiree (8/5): - The sink and shower both had hair and soap in them, the bed sheets had hair on them. Something on the night stand that should have been wiped up.
It wasn't a deal breaker though. Would stay here again. Staff is friendly and welcoming.
- Dean S (6/5): Relax in - Comfortable bed, was clean but door to bathroom falling off hinge. No counter space. No ice no coffee.
- Ryan (2/5): - I have stayed in some pretty shady spots.. this place made me very nervous. I almost moved to another hotel in the middle of the night.
- Lathaniel (8/5): - Overnight stay, clean bed and a hot shower was just wanted. Had a peaceful rest with no issues!
- Vanessa (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and nice.
- NINO (8/5): - very affordable motel, old building and amenities but friendly staff, recommend for 1 night stay
- Basab (2/5): - I would give this hotel a 1/5 stars because
(1) poop stain on toilet
(2) cracks in bath tub
(3) microwave dirty on the inside
- Shams (4/5): - Wrong listing:
Per property description, the rooms should have been non-smoking; breakfast should have been included. The rooms had bad smoking smell that did not go away with heavy air freshener sprays; bathroom door had no lock; main room doors were barely locking; windows had no locks; linens were stained with burn holes.
- Raymond (10/5): Relax at the inn! - All was ok good deal for what it was. You don’t pay 100 and get a 200 dollar room. You get what you pay for. Staff was good and room was ok for a place to sleep. Lots of food choices around. Would stay again.
- Laurel (6/5): - This was a basic motel - older and somewhat worn but fine for the price. Front desk person was very pleasant and business transaction was easy. Would stay again.
- A39MIlarrys (10/5): Finely a good Fairfield Inn - It wasnt your usual Fairfield inn , friendly clean and great staff, normally i avoid Fairfield inns we have had terrible experiences with your franchise owners especially in nort carolina off 95
We checked in and had the car full , my wife mention to front desk clerk and they had no cameras outside of entrance and car was broken into within a few hours , police said they tnought highly unusual hotel refuses to acknowledge and is in my lawyers hands now terrible experience. So i was pleasantly surprised with my stay in Elmira
- Susan (8/5): - Gloria did a great job. On the morning of my last day someone banged on my door at 2:47 am which was alarming. This person started banging on room doors for the next half hour.
- Aravind (2/5): Won't suggest !!! - I won't suggest this hotel for stay. It's not worth for money you pay. No proper door lock system available. Not secure at all.
- Victoria (10/5): - Better than expected.
- Todd (8/5): - Convenient location, basic place to stay, nothing fancy.
- iskoggard (6/5): A Goodnight Sleep. - We were expecting the worst after reading most of the reviews, however, were pleasantly surprised: beds were firm, shower worked, clean linen, and no spiders! Had all the amenities, 40’ flatscreen TV, microwave and fridge, but still seemed overpriced ($175). We were there during race week, which might explain the high rate. The Inn was full and one couple we met had been returning there every year for the past 20 years! Proprietor and other guest were friendly.
- Carl (10/5): - The staff at Relax Inn met me with a friendly smile and was very courteous. The facility was dated, but was immaculately clean and everything worked. I'd stay there again if I was ever in that area.
- Ian (6/5): - Don’t expect much and you will be satisfied. Beds are comfortable and shower is fine. Standard amenities of large flat screen TV, microwave oven and refrigerator, but property in general is run down, bathroom door doesn’t close, holes in the trim, and wobbly floor in bathroom. Off the beaten path in an industrial park.
- Scott (2/5): - They sold my room to somebody else and said they didn't have my reservation. Stay away
- Janna (4/5): - “Picnic” area was only place to enjoy
- Alexander (2/5): - Gave us an unserviced room
- Diane (4/5): Dirty and not a good area. - First off had trouble getting a card key that worked. Floor didn't look like its been vacuumed or cleaned. The edges hada lot of build up of dirt. Hair on bathroom floor and sink. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The only thing convenient was that you could park by your room. I will never go here again.
- CATALIN (8/5): - We liked the outdoor relaxing area in front of the office
- William (8/5): - Quiet, by itself, close to shopping.
- Viviana (10/5): - Easy check in process, very nice front desk lady.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - You get what you paid for, a basic hotel with air conditioner, washroom and a bed. Nothing fancy. Good for a trip with friends to save on accommodation.
- Michael (8/5): Good night sleep friendly stay - My day was fine we're looking for a place to sleep it was comfortable clean no complaints got more than what I paid for
- William (10/5): - Set back off the highway nice and quiet.
- Angel Jaime (4/5): - Found hair under my pillows bathroom was dirty
- Mary (4/5): - They don't provide you with any shampoo or conditioner or soap! Thankfully my travel partner brought some. Wooden bathroom door didn't close and was busted up at the bottom. Cigarette burn hole in comforter. Very disappointed.
- john (6/5): - the place was a little dated but overall was a nice stay for the price and in todays world that means a lot
- Robert (8/5): Not happy customer - Room was clean, bathroom needs major upgrade, great maid service, side walks and parking lot needs work, front desk clerk at check in very nice, the male manager looked at me like I was a problem when I went to front desk to report a plumbing problem. Even though there were good things to this location I would not stay there again and I would not recommend this place to anybody.
- David (6/5): Ok night - It was ok
- Gary (10/5): Great Afvice - Gail was a treat at check in and through out the visit with plenty of good advice and towels
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No further comments
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The shower and toilet looked like they had not been wiped down in years. The room smelled musty and looked dingy. I decided to stay elsewhere, and when I returned to get my things, there was a cockroach right outside my door. Management refused to refund. Would not feel comfortable putting my suitcase on that bed, much less sleep in it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic run down motel. Friendly Staff
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was hair in the bathtub and it was not clean. Half used bottles of shampoo we’re also in the bathroom. The inside of the fridge was dirty, and there were candy wrappers next to the garbage can. I was also charged more than what I booked on Expedia.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dont go - Disgusting. Room was falling apart, lots of mold, bathroom horrendous. Smoking burns in sheets. Front desk had bad attitude.
- Matthew (2/5): - Customer service was awful. They tried to pay more than the price guarantee and then tried to keep my change until the following morning
- Verified traveler (4/5): not good place to stay👎 - Not so good at all. Bathroom was nasty the shower was so gross had greenish-brown & black grime all over the tub it was nasty were we didn't shower.
- Merrick (10/5): Recommended - Average run of the mill hotel. No complaints. Clean. Hot receptionist.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was very small . Water never shut off in tub while using shower.
- Dawn (6/5): - The motel was a little difficult to find as it is tucked in the back of other businesses. But once we found it, the accommodations were sufficient as was the clerk who checked us in.
- Joseph (6/5): So So! - The room was adequate, but stuffy with only the door to air out the odor. Bed was ok, but bath needed a little more touch up cleaning. Shower was good.
- Pamela (8/5): - They were very nice when we checked in. Continental breakfast everyone was friendly. Motel was decently clean. Motel was older but ok. Lots of restaurants and stores close by. We would definitely stay there again. We had a great time!!! It’s about half an hour from Watkins Glen race track.
- 164vickil (10/5): Very good and enjoyable - We stay here every year race week and have a great time!!! Rooms are cleaned every day and always taken care of. Staff is excellent. We are never in need of anything. They go out of their way to make it pleasant and friendly.
- johnnyn262 (6/5): Clean room, good beds, and nice family that own it - What else do you want or even expect pulling up to the place? It's well kept outside, and for the price it completely exceeds expectations... And the owners are cool too... Go pay $139 at Hilton Garden Inn or Hampton if you're lookin for all the amenities that everybody is whining that this place lacks.... H8ters... Smh
- auntknc (2/5): Not again - The room was small and dingy. The tub was awful and the shower was duct taped. The door was not very secure and worried me. The Internet was the worst I have ever come across in my travels. It was like dial up.
I will say the people were friendly. The location was convenient.
- Quiet1smile (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Here is my experience.
1. large holes in bottom of wall ???? Rat Holes ??? plugged them up with shoes
2. Bathroom door falling off the hinges and coming apart at the seams yet does not close
3. NO WATER - water stopped working while brushing my teeth
4. The bolt on the door lock does not line up with the face-plate so door bolt lock does NOT work only other lock was a very thin chain that was hooked to the door casing very flimsy.
5. Tried to use the phone to call the front desk to register my concerns the phone was dead looking closer the wire had been cut .
I wish I had taken photo's
- TheWisa (8/5): Exactly what you should be expected... - I've stayed in a lot of hotels and let me tell you, stop being so over dramatic!! This hotel was in a great location to where we needed to be; (yes it was a little hard to find not going to lie, it's set behind a car dealership) Rooms were very clean; small office not much to it but i'm here to sleep not hang out in the office; again, rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, bathroom well kept; would not be my first choice but would stay here again if needed.
- SudheerG (6/5): Hello every one - Hello.....This is perhaps the poorest acoomodation I have had since I was teenager and stayed in a hotel with a rope instead of a lock. What bothers me is that with a little bit of paint, some all-purpous cleaners, vaccume and good washer, it wouldn't be so bad. The location is great but come during the day because the lights in...
- BobandMimi (4/5): cheapest motel in Elmira but still overpriced - This is perhaps the poorest acoomodation I have had since I was teenager and stayed in a hotel with a rope instead of a lock. What bothers me is that with a little bit of paint, some all-purpous cleaners, vaccume and good washer, it wouldn't be so bad. The location is great but come during the day because the lights in their sign have burnt out. For the first time ever, my wife and I talked about the possiblity of bedbugs (there were none). I feel sorry for the woman who runs the place. I have a feeling that she has to do all the work herself. She was pleasant and polite, Don't even consider their "breakfast" unless you haven't eaten for a few days. The best part of the stay was, as I was picking up some coffee (good) someone dropped off a key with a cigarette but placed neatly beside. I presume he found on the floor of his non-smoking room. Laughter can make any stay tolerable. Oh yes, you might want to bring your own tissues.
- Jorendi1 (4/5): No Internet, no HBO, no airport shuttle - Woman at front desk was nice, flat screen was a pleasant surprise, and bed was ok. On the downside, I paid $30 in taxi fees to/from airport even though Orbitz ammenities list said shuttle service is provided. Also frustrated that Internet did not connect and there was no HBO as advertised.
- nfhf (8/5): good clean room, would stay again. - most important to me away from home is cleanliness and a good night sleep. the motel is old but my room had modern touches. shower could use new head and faucets. I like a little more upscale if I was travelling with the wife but overall a good value and stay for an expensive stay area.
- JanBaby43 (2/5): Gouged high price for college parents weekend...lowwww quality. - We booked in late August for October 9th weekend and were given a confirmation for a king non-smoking room. Got there and were given a room with 2 dbl beds which had a dirty q-tip in the corner of the room and dirty carpet. Bedspreads had holes and blood stains, room was stinking of smoke (non-smoking room?!?!?), bathroom door vaneer peeling badly, bathtub cracked on topside you step over to get in, and just overall nasty!
DON'T GO THERE! The day we were leaving we saw a live roach in the bathroom!!!!! UGH!!!!!! No hair dryer, iron, or coffee. (Not "American-Owned" either!)
- Joe44Blow (8/5): I was pleasantly surprised. - I stayed here last week and wasn't sure what to expect. It's at the end of a (now) dead end street which gave the GPS fits trying to find the place. I recommend using Google street view before heading out so you have a grip on the area beforehand.
The manager was very nice and helpful. The room was a little small and needed some upgrading but you could tell they were, slowly but surely, upgrading the place. The nice things included a wide-screen HD TV, fridge, microwave, comfortable bed and pillows, windows that open, and it's fairly quiet. There's no hair dryer or iron in the room and they don't have a breakfast room but you can pick up some coffee or tea and a breakfast sandwich by the desk and take it to your room. There's also a picnic table and barbecue. What needs some work? Room fixtures like doors, windows, and electrical fixtures. The outside needs improvement also but for the price I consider it to be a good deal.
- TravelingTemptress (6/5): Must have improved... - I think that people may have too high of expectations from this cute little motor lodge if they have complaints after saving $40 -$140 compared to the other local places.
I travel the WNY, CNY, and WPA areas and often have to sleep over since my presentations are often in the evening. This motel is exactly the same as all other motels in the price range. It was clean, smelled like motel cleaning supplies, the bed was comfortable and the wifi was good quality - something that even pricey hotels sometimes don't measure up when it comes to signal strength.
The office was clean and the clerk was very pleasant.
If you need a place to crash for a night or two this place does the trick... if you are a family staying for a week you might need more space but other than that this place works.
- dreamchaser1967 (6/5): Not all that bad - If you are used to all the hotel anemities and the upscale of a hotel, then no, this motel isn't for you. It did have phone, internet access, cable, microwave and fridge. Yes the room has an odor about it, but nothing that a bottle of febreze or runuzit or a candle can't take care of. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. I like the fancier ones at times too, but for this overnight trip, the room sufficed.
- slackerhb (2/5): Stay away!!!!! - I booked a room for two nights at the Relax Inn under the pretense that it was a "rare find." Who wouldn't want a nice room at a discount rate? I should have read all the reviews first.
I was appalled at the stench that greeted me at the door. It was an overwhelming blend of mold and mildew covered with ammonia. I lasted about 5 minutes in the room, but the smell lingered in my nose and lungs for the next hour. Unfortunately ,the memory will stay with me forever! I left without securing another reservation for the night(sleeping in the car was a better option) and luckily found another room at a lower rate two exits east that was neat and clean and odor free(red carpet treatment.)
Aside from the olfactory assault, the room was tidy but small and somehow depressing. It did offer the promised amenities; microwave, fridge, Internet access(helpful when looking for alternate accommodations)
If your still reading this and thinking.....maybe this is just some high maintenance woman with too much free time and this is your kind of place....consider the serious lack of security. The flimsy door had a dime store door lock, the kind easily opened with a credit card. The chain lock was attached to a flimsy piece of molding that easily detached from the wall with the tug from a small woman and replaced just as easily. I must have not been the first to try that trick. The six foot strapping man at my side felt ill at ease as well.
In two words STAY AWAY!. Don't get stuck paying any penalty by booking ahead. If you did make that mistake, discuss the issue with reception. They will accept less than a one night fee. This place is no bargain even if it was free
- LightPacker26589 (2/5): I rather sleep in my car - I was shocked at this place. The "office" was a tiny little room, with a fish tank with no fish. And a tiny old counter for the "free continental breakfast" When I got to my room, the door seemed very flimsy with just a little chain lock on it, there was a weird smell, the window was old wood framed with a crack in it, there was no clock, the refrigerator and microwave were old and dirty, the bathroom was old with peeling walls, light fixtures were missing bulbs, the bathtub fixtures were rusty and there was mold on the ceiling. I had a scary feeling of the place. I immediatly went looking for another hotel, luckily I found one. I had to pay the entire cost of the room, but I didn't care, my relaxation is worth it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy.
