Guest Reviews
- millie482018 (6/5): Disappointing - Booked the hotel to visit relatives while attending a first communion in Waterford, we thought the hotel was expensive but thought it was a special event we would use a token we had to pay for the hotel.
We arrived to a very noisey family row at the hotel entrance, fortunately the police arrived but the arguments continued well into the evening.
Staff are very friendly, our room was basic, breakfast was very good, swimming pool was ok but had no security. We were disappointed
- P3742CQcw (6/5): Could do much better - Stayed three nights with my aunt who knew the hotel from years gone by.
Positives:
Set in beautiful grounds, within walking distance to New Ross, nicely renovated bar serving good food.
Negatives:
Rooms tired and in need of an update, no suitable lights for reading in the bedroom. The pool area and changing rooms looked tired and in need of redecoration.
On the middle night of our stay, very late at night, there was a group of very noisy men using bad language outside the entrance doors very near the bedroom windows, for a considerable time. In the end, they dispersed after smashing a glass and a car horn was sounded.
- andy mcmullan (10/5): - Very comfortable and friendly. Breakfasts and evening meals are excellent.
- Gary (10/5): Amazing stay - Staff were friendly and helpful, food was wonderful. Room was clean and luxurious, breakfast had an amazing selection and the omelette station was devine. And there is a beautiful walk around the hotel and live music in the bar. Overall it was.a.fantastic stay
- C (8/5): - Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Nice facilities for kids.
- syl (10/5): -
- Nikolaos (7/5): - Awesome breakfast
- John (9/5): Great family fun - We had a great time in the pool. All good
- Jennifer (10/5): - The friendliness of the staff . The location. The food. Nothing.
- Laura (10/5): Wonderful family weekend break away - Family room was wonderful. A sea themed wall and bunk beds which our son loved. Staff were all so helpful and kind. Playground outside in great condition and our son loved this too!
- Jane (8/5): - All staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. I thought the changing facilities at the pool were very tired and could do with upgrading.
- Jack (9/5): -
- D7062YGlouiser (10/5): Birthday party - Staff were very attentive, and friendly.
Food was excellent and our dessert was special as we were celebrating a joint bday, thank you for singing!
Thank you Fran !!!
- Tracey Finn (10/5): The best spa break ive ever had. - There's nothing at all I didnt like in this hotel, the staff were so helpful and nice couldn't have done enough for us, the food, the rooms, the treatments the pool, just fab, everything about this place was just fabulous. There waa nothing not to like.
- jarlathconefrey (4/5): Disappointing - Arrived at the hotel on a Thursday evening; decided to have a drink at the bar before retiring. Had to locate a barman who was poorly presented and entirely disinterested. Who serves an atrocious pint of Guinness in a Murphys glass? Accompanying glass of wine for my wife turned out to be a miserable half glass; is there a shortage? No receipt offered or given! Decided to give the bar and barman a second chance; had to locate the poorly presented barman once again; still disinterested and no receipt offered or given. Yet another miserable half glass of wine and easily the worst pint of slop I've ever been served. Checking my banking app the following morning I wax shocked to find that each of these disgraceful servings cost me €17.40. Love to hear the Brandon Hose Hotel's explanation/justification etc. Cannot rocommend in any circumstances and only sorry to see I can't upload a photo of the disgraceful effort at serving Guinness.
- Carl (10/5): I used the hotel for a night stay while conducting business in New Ross. The hotel was perfect - Nothing, it was perfect.

- 281shaunaa (2/5): Extremely disappointing experience on our wedding day - We chose this hotel for our wedding stay last May, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing—both on the day itself and in how it has been handled since.
I want to stress that I do not usually leave negative reviews. I am generally very easy-going and understanding, particularly when it comes to service. However, the way this was handled—especially given that it was my wedding day—was beyond unacceptable and not something I can overlook.
From the moment we arrived, issues began. We were initially given a standard room instead of the upgraded room we had specifically booked. While this was eventually corrected, it immediately caused unnecessary stress and, in hindsight, should have been a warning sign. We had chosen that room very deliberately for photography purposes, so it was not a small detail to be overlooked.
In advance of our stay, we met with the wedding coordinator and clearly outlined that this was not a traditional wedding, but a small and intimate day. Based on this, we were advised on what the hotel could offer and were assured that certain arrangements would be in place, including use of the outdoor space for a symbolic ceremony and small touches to make the occasion special.
Approximately one week before the wedding, we were informed that the coordinator we had been dealing with had left the business. This had not been communicated to us proactively, and we were only made aware when we got in touch ourselves. At that point, we were reassured that all details had been passed on and that everything would proceed as planned. Based on our experience, it is clear that this handover was not handled properly.
On the day, none of this was organised. The outdoor ceremony had not been arranged as discussed, and I was left, as the bride, trying to organise everything myself with no support from staff. This was incredibly stressful and not what we had agreed to or expected.
To make matters worse, the manager on duty that day was extremely rude and unhelpful at a time when we needed support the most. Instead of assisting, I was met with a dismissive and rude attitude which only added to the pressure.
At one point, just as the ceremony was about to begin, I was approached while in my wedding dress and asked to move our bags to another room—despite this having been discussed in advance and agreed otherwise. This was incredibly upsetting at such a significant moment and completely inappropriate given the circumstances.
There were also other issues during the stay, including problems with the bridal suite and the complete absence of the agreed finishing touches.
What is equally disappointing is how this has been handled since. When I raised these concerns with the hotel, the response I received was dismissive and focused almost entirely on the time that had passed since the stay, rather than addressing what actually happened. I explained clearly that I did not raise the issue immediately due to personal reasons following our wedding and honeymoon, yet this was repeatedly used as a reason not to engage.
I was also told that the hotel could not investigate the matter due to staff turnover. This is not my responsibility and does not change the experience we had or how the day was handled.
Having worked in customer service for many years, I find this level of both service and follow-up extremely disappointing—particularly given the significance of the occasion.
I would have preferred to resolve this directly with the hotel, but unfortunately that was not possible. I’m not posting this to warn others considering having a special occasion here. I would highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

- David (1/5): - There wasn't a lot to like. The leisure area was disgusting the day we went and closed the other day so I had to pay €18 to take our girl to the Apex centre.

- Rebecka (10/5): -
- Stacey (8/5): -
- Alessandra (10/5): Overall I would go back, I liked it and during school break they had entertainment for kids ie - I loved the position of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, the quality of food for dinner was good. The staff always very nice. The pool good too. I felt sometimes the rooms weren't cleaned enough. We had crumbs under the table ( from previous guests) that weren't cleaned during our stay for 2 nights.
- Anna (10/5): - Gym,service, personal
- catrionab283 (10/5): Amazing - We have been coming to Brandon House for the past 20 odd years at the same time every year for my Birthday. We love it here, the location is perfect, the atmosphere and rooms are excellent. Mena and his staff are very friendly and polite. The food is excellent. When you keep returning to the same hotel it says alot about that hotel and when you keep seeing the same staff there each time you go that says alot too. I would highly recommend Brandon House Hotel for whatever event u may have or just to come and unwind for yourself and grab a Spa Treatment while you are here. I can't fault anything about this hotel. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Mena for your hospitality. Your an asset to any business. Keep up the good work. Catriona and John Brennan, Castlecomer.

- greenbeltgirl (10/5): Mum & Dads anniversary lunch - We came here for my parents anniversary 14 adults and 6 children for Sunday Carvery Lunch. I was blown away by the service. I rang a little while before hand as we were not sure my dad would be up to it on the day. Alison gave me her direct number and just simply said give me 5mins notice if you all can come and I was put at ease immediately. We literally gave 5 mins notice once my dad felt up to it after mass!! No problem at all, a table was set and ready and we were made feel most welcome on arrival. All staff were friendly and helpful, carrying food and drinks for us. We had a brilliant afternoon, would highly recommend.
- Bustard (9/5): Staff were excellent, any issues were dealt with quickly. The staff at breakfast and during evening food were attentive - It was very central location to all the tourists attractions and easy to find

- Relax611724 (10/5): Fantastic team - My mum and stoped by today for lunch after some shopping in NewRoss. The staff were so lovely from the time we stepped in. We were greeted by the lady at the reception and directed to the dining room. We were served by a lovely lady Fran who was so cheerful and kind. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. As we were leaving we were thanked for our custom and wished a safe journey.
In short we were treated with kindness and courtesy
Thank-you to the wonderful staff of the Brandon House Hotel

- H3488AJmarke (10/5): 👍👍👍👍👍 - Where do I start?
Fantastic welcoming back to hotel ,I’ve stayed here now on numerous occasions due to work.,Not once has it faulted in its high standards to impress.
The rooms are to very high standard and spotless clean.
I came down for dinner and ordered a steak very reasonable priced.Ive not long come back from a Yellowstone ranch tour and let me tell you this steak will not disappoint you.
If you want flavour,,texture and colour to perfectly cooked medium steak then this is the place to go.
Staff brought over a glass of chilled water to cleanse the pallet to in hanse the flavour of the steak.
I would not be one to write a review to a high standards such as this, but when it’s good it’s good don’t take my word for it ,try it yourself you will not be disappointed..
Hats off to the staff at this hotel ,hardworking and devoted to looking after the residents to a very high standard.👍👍👍
- lilymarlene180 (8/5): A nice boutique style hotel, feels like they could do with more staff for the evening meal. - A special mention for Sawyna (I hope that’s right!) on reception who went the extra mile for my daughter’s birthday celebration. Thank you!
Pros: Room furnishings are very comfortable, mattress was amazing. Service from hotel staff was excellent.
Cons: Room was extremely hot, window open, fan on in January. My rain shower was not working. The restaurant does not open on Sunday evenings and the bar food selection was limited, quality was good not great. It was a busy evening and the staff could not be faulted for service but there were so many tables not cleared of dirty dishes. They were correct IMO to prioritise service, but I think they need more staff. Cocktails were a little disappointing. There was a good choice at Breakfast and food was good quality. Waffles, omelettes and pancakes were not available on that Monday morning.
The spa
Receptionist was quite unfriendly, she incorrectly quoted the fee for non guests and rushed through the introduction to the thermal suite at jet speed. It was interesting trying to relax in the steam room while listening to the leaf blower outside followed by a group of loud women who don’t know or care about spa etiquette or how it is much more pleasant for other guests if you speak in hushed tones in a place where people pay to relax.
The sat nav directed us to the back entrance which is much less appealing than the grand front entrance.
- Jackie (9/5): - Very clean. Lovely staff and food was great
- Vincent (10/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Like a gentlemen, old, but serves with dignity and class - The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. The Staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Exactly what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. There is even an EV charger in the car park. The building shows some signs of needing repainting here and there, but I suppose it could be called vintage if they wait a little longer. We forgot some stuff in our room and were told it would be sent to us by post, but as it didn't arrive within 11 days, it wasn't sent by registered post and is probably lost. Regardless of these, the hotel is still a good place to stay.
- shannongirl231 (8/5): Wonderful family stay overall despite one major disappointement - We stayed here as a large family group for a 2 night post Christmas stay - parents, grandparents and children. We really overall enjoyed the whole stay. Stephen on check in was fantastic - so helpful and friendly. All our rooms were of good standard, comfortable and clean. The buffet style breakfast was sensational, wow what a choice for everyone young and old. Food in the bar was great too, we really enjoyed both our meals. Service is fantastic throughout breakfast and dinner, staff are very helpful, friendly and professional. We want to mention especially Alison who was on hand throughout our stay helped in so many ways; organising tables together at dinner and breakfast for us and looking after our every need in between - even keeping the fire stacked with logs for us- she couldn't do enough and is a wonderful host.
The biggest disappointment and upset - the only disappointment really was the pool was closed for the majority of our stay, with 8 kids in the group this was what they were really looking forward to. At one point we did go down and it was open only to be extremely rudely told we had a half an hour and then we had to be out. The manner in which the staff member spoke to us was completely at odds with the friendliness and professionalism shown by every other staff member in the hotel. One of the main reasons we booked the hotel was so the children could use the pool and show their grandparents how their swimming was coming on and for it to be closed for the majority of our stay over the christmas break was baffling really.
- ralphm632 (8/5): Nice hotel and staff - Very comfortable, clean, great pool and spa. Excellent breakfast menu with homemade breads. Dinner menu was small but good. We had a long wait one night due to short staffing.
- lynne (8/5): Comfortable stay - Comfortable room and very friendly, helpful staff. No view from room apart from surrounding buildings/pool
- Katarzyna (8/5): - Very nice hotel, not far from the city center. Very nice place to spend time with family, many attractions for kids. amazing restaurant and fantastic people who work there. Very tasty breakfast The hotel needs some renovation - especially bathrooms, there are no sun beds at the pool and no space to leave a towel, no bathrobes for the guests, sauna quite old and is not hot enough

- DayTrip27875246146 (10/5): Lovely stay - 2 adults, 2 kids and grandparents stayed for 2 nights early December. We had a great stay, the staff make it! They are so helpful & friendly. Food was delicious & just a lovely atmosphere in the hotel. We will definitely be back again.
- roy (9/5): Just what we wanted for a christmas stopover - Location and welcoming atmosphere the room was excellent. Staff were very friendly and always helpful Nothing
- Tína (7/5): - I like the staff and the room was spacious and clean The pool was freezing cold and it needs maintenance. Many of the buttons for the pool were broken with broken tiles and rust around. The floor was very slippery and could do with rubber mats.
- Keith (9/5): - Staff warm and friendly
Food top class
- sandra (8/5): Comfortable and quiet. Nice hotel - good food and friendly staff and nice leisure center - Location - great for Wexford/ Kilkenny/ Waterford No lift to first floor which was fine for us
- Edel (9/5): -
- Thakor (9/5): - i wish they would put Soft door closures in all the rooms as people just slam the door shut at night with a big bang
- Patrick (8/5): -
- Declan (9/5): - The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
- Barry (10/5): -
- Alan (7/5): taxi services extremely poor, otherwise Very good hotel - Breakfast and Dinner was very good. taxi services extremely poor
- 897verad (10/5): Amazing - What a beautiful experience from the second we arrived,we were greeted by Stephen who could not have been nicer,so polite and helpful and a credit to the hotel, all staff were so nice, food was beautiful, room was spotless and very comfortable, if there were 6 stars I would give the 6th one to Stephen, will definitely be back soon, thank you for a lovely escape it was so relaxing ,Vera Donovan
- veradV9008PG (10/5): Exceptional - From the second we arrived we were warmly greeted by Stephen,a lovely polite young man who is a credit to the hotel,on mentioning I had breathing problems he immediately gave us a ground floor room, the room was spotless spacious very comfortable,we had dinner in the library bar, food was exceptional and the girl who served us eoyyn not sure if I’ve spelt it right was friendly and the service was prompt, all staff were friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Stephen gets 6 stars for his manners and helpfulness, definitely be back

- foreversunny1 (10/5): Warm and Welcoming. Service that goes above and beyond. You feel like a real guest of this hotel. - We had an excellent 3 night stay at Brandon House Hotel in New Ross. Our room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. It was lovely to see the lobby sitting area filled with guests enjoying tea by the fire on our arrival. Truly welcoming. Breakfast was so nice, served to perfection by the friendly staff who were extremely flexible and easygoing about special requests.
I have an intolerance to certain foods, I mentioned this to Alison on my first day after the friendly and helpful Natasha advised me to talk to her. I was assured this would not be a problem and she went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, whatever was not there at that moment was there the next day, this was something I had not experienced before, top class service. I never had to mention it again staff were informed and there was no issues nor was I made to feel a bother, it was truly refreshing. Food was really delicious in both the bar and the restaurant.
The hotel offers a warm environment that makes its guests feel truly welcome.
- Pauline (10/5): - As expected, always a pleasant stay at Brandon House.

- Wilch2710 (10/5): Fantastic value for money - A gem of a hotel situated between Wexford and Waterford. The staff were great, from reception to bar/restaurant and cleaners. Evening food was lovely and despite a small wait for a table: the staff did their best to find one and keep us informed. Rooms were spacious and clean. Netflix Apple Tv and Amazon all on the tv. The breakfast….possibly the best ive had in Ireland. Delicious, especially the freshly made omelettes and waffles. For the price, it was a bargain. Will be back.
