- Anthony (9/5): Go for it — but add another excursion if you want a truly authentic experience. - 1. Food was superb and absolutely delicious overall, though the final meal was disappointing. 2. Room had excellent air conditioning, comfortable beds, and a strong hot shower. 3. Loved the rooftop and facilities—especially the swimming pool. 4. Staff were consistently kind and friendly. 1. Excursions need improvement: the “indigenous village” visit felt inauthentic and more like a visit to a modern community than a traditional village. 2. The night trip to see alligators and snakes was underwhelming; guides didn’t do much to make it engaging or informative. 3. On the last night we were unable to order several drinks because liquor and key mixers had run out — unacceptable. 4. We weren’t allowed to swim in the river, which was disappointing. 5. The boto‑cor‑de‑rosa (pink dolphin) excursion was too short and felt rushed.
- Ethan (9/5): Luxurious cruise with very helpful staff. A great way to see the Amazon through a variety of activities. The cruise keep - Expeditions were well organised and varied. The food was incredible with a lot of variety, and if you missed a lunch or dinner there was another option on the top deck which gave plenty of food. All alcohol was included in the price. Got very close to animals on the Amazon river, did a trek in the Amazon, and visited an indigenous community - all of these were incredible memorable experiences. The meeting of the rivers was very early in the morning, just before 6am. It would have been better if it was closer to porting time as we spent two hours close to port when we could have spent more time at the meeting of the rivers. Sad I missed it, but mostly my fault for being tired. Also would have enjoyed more trek expeditions instead of staying on the boat. But the boat expeditions and the one trek activity were incredible.

- Elmarie Blignaut (9/5): Grand Amazon indeed - This was a fantastic and easy way to experience the Amazon. The 2 excursions each day was well organised and executed. Guides and staff were super, the food was excellent - we enjoyed trying some of the Amazon dishes and the cabins were very comfortable. Thank you! The only reason I gave a 9/10 and not 10/10 was the booking process. After booking the trip on booking.com there was no communication from Iberostar. I would have liked receiving a confirmation from Iberostar that they received the booking and when and how payment is due. When booking with booking.com, Iberostar handle the payment directly and not through booking.com. I did phone them, but doing so from South Africa and not speaking Portugese or Spanish is a difficult and slow process. I had to phone more than once and was transferred several times. Maybe it will be easier to book directly on the Iberostar website, but at the time I wanted to book, I was not able to do so on their website.
- Antonio (10/5): Above my expectations! - Hands down the best Amazon cruise in Manaus. Everything from the excursions to the food, from the spacious rooms to the friendliness of everyone in the staff was above my expectations. I'd like to give a special mention to the excursion guides, so helpful and prepared. The food was delicious, diverse, and abundant. You can choose buffet or a-la-carte. Everything is included in the price: high speed internet, all excursions, all the drinks, food and entertainment. Worth to mention that even the cheapest cabins have very large bedrooms and bathrooms, and a balcony. So everybody gets to see the beautiful landscape from their rooms, while natural sunlight illuminates the space. Very hard to find defects. Maybe for those who love gym, they may find the gym quite small, and the rooms may get a bit humid if the air conditioning is off. But...we are in the middle of the Amazon forest, a little bit of humidity won't kill anyone.

Jefferson was an amazing English ( even some Bulgarian:) speaking guide. Very entertaining and well prepared. Highly recommend!
- Thomas (8/5): Schöne Reise mit vielen Eindrücken auf dem Rio Negro - Die Bootsausflüge waren sehr gut, auch die english sprechenden Guides waren sehr gut. Der Service an den Bars und die Qualität der Getränke (Cocktails) waren hervorragend. Zu den Stoßzeiten war die Wartezeit beim Frühstück an der Omlettstation ein wenig zu lang. Am Buffet war zu allen Mahlzeiten die Auswahl in Ordnung, ich hätte jedoch einige etwas hochwertigere Speisen erwartet.
- Monica (10/5): Un paseo excepcional por el amazonas - El barco está estupendamente equipado y dispone de todas las comodidades. Las habitaciones son fabulosas, muy bien equipadas y decoradas y disponen de una pequeña terraza desde la que disfrutar de la navegación. Hay múltiples excursiones disponibles en lancha para descubrir la fauna y flora del amazonas, tanto diurnas como nocturnas, así como actividades en el propio barco. La cubierta superior dispone de una terraza cubierta perfectamente equipada y de zona exterior con piscina. La comida excelente. La tripulación y personal muy atentos y accesibles en todo momento. Una experiencia muy recomendable.
- Allen (5/5): Great expedition experience, but the ship and facilities are lacking. - The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. The expedition experiences were amazing and incredible when we were able to get close to the wildlife (dolphins & monkeys) - but most of the time the wildlife was in the distance and you needed strong binoculars or telephoto lens. The bar and wait staff were exceptional. The lack of food choices did not match our expectations given the cost and reputation of the cruise. While the layout of the stateroom was great, the balcony doors did not seal or lock, the air conditioning unit would either run extremely cold, or produce condensation on the grate and the floor of the room. The water temperature in the shower fluctuated from luke warm to burning hot; with no in-between. The astro-turf on Deck 4 was always soggy, never draining after a rain, and made moving chairs very difficult. The decking surface around the pool was very slippery and unsafe - we saw 2 guests fall.

Quanto às outras refeições tenho comentários. os cardápios (de almoço e jantar) não contemplam pessoas com diferenças de alimentação. Sou vegetariana e em algumas refeições tive dificuldade em comer. Embora eu tenha avisado à cozinha, no primeiro dia, que eu era vegetariana. isso foi bem desagradável, porque o sistema all inclusive deve contemplar "all persons" embarcadas. Os passeios muito bons, equipe de guias muito bem treinada. os bufes no terraço muito bem servidos, com equipe gentil e disponível. ambiente muito agradável. incluir espaço para baile. Um momento para os viajantes dançarem, isso faz falta.

- Helena Suzuki (8/5): Conforto na floresta - Funcionários muito simpáticos, passeios bem organizados, comida muito boa. Banda dos guias muito divertida, drinks ótimos e muito bem feitos. Quartos espaçosos, cama king de excelente qualidade, banheiro grande com chuveiro bom. Entretenimento muito bom. Se forem, deem preferência pra sair no primeiro barco, do guia Piro, o mais carismático e experiente que não mede esforços para agradar os passageiros. Samir também é um guia muito bom. Essa é a forma mais tranquila de conhecer a Amazônia. O barco tem 20 anos de operação e algumas partes precisam de uma atualização urgente: teto dos quartos, escada de grama sintética que liga o terceiro andar ao terraço tem cheiro de mofo. Eles pedem para deixar o ar condicionado dos quartos ligado o tempo todo pra não condensar, mas acho que é pra disfarçar o cheiro de mofo no quarto. O ar condicionado se ligava sozinho durante a madrugada. A sacada estava com teias de aranha e não conseguimos usar.

Os passeios são ótimos, mas temos outras agências que oferecem esses passeios a um preço mais justos. O atendimento é excelente. Resumindo, o impacto negativo é grande, quando falamos de preço da diária x expectativa do restaurante de uma classificação 5 estrelas.
- STTAEL (8/5): Gostei mas poderia ser bem melhor! - Do atendimento dos funcionários e da qualidade da alimentação Quarto com forte cheiro de mofo, fiquei doente por conta disso, e a programação de entretenimento noturno muito fraca. Num sábado a noite, por exemplo, não houve sequer um DJ tocando para os hóspedes. Poderia por exemplo oferecer um happy hour junto ao bar da piscina que já entretia os hóspedes. Os passeios de barcos foram monótonos pois o guia falava pouco das 🌳 🌳 🌳 como o nome, espécie, em que se usa, qual região é abundante, como está o extrativismo, etc. Tem assunto para o dia todo... Buscar alternativa para o passeio do por do sol, pois se o navio está ancorado no meio de uma enorme quantidade de água, as fotos podem ser feitas de lá mesmo não necessitando de pegar um barco e ficar no meio do rio... dá igual... A diferença é só o tamanho do barco. O jantar com o comandante foi decepcionante... o coitado ficou na porta só para tirar foto com quem queria e não participou do jantar. Poderíamos fazer um brinde com ele e ele ficar no salão jantando conosco jáque o navio estava ancorado...

Communication is very poor prior to cruise start. Try to call the number provided but no English speaking staff available to answer the phone. There is no acknowledgement of booking even after payment are fully paid. I have booked through booking.com. But I do expect some kind of confirmation. Everything does work out but
- Verified traveler (6/5): Seis estrelas para o Rio e Floresta! - O Grand Amazon Expedition é um barco hotel all inclusive, algo rústico e caro, três estrelas e meia, com 20 anos de uso, necessitando ser trocado por um navio novo e moderno. O roteiro feito foi o de três dias. As boas vindas no check in foi a cobrança de impostos e taxas que haviam sido pagas 3 meses antes, quando da compra do pacote. Outro ponto negativo foi a trilha na selva com o guia Samir, com 28 pessoas em mata fechada (15 pessoas já seria muito), pessoas necessitando de atenção e ajuda e ainda, parte do grupo perdeu-se na volta. O desempenho do guia deixou a desejar. Essa trilha necessita de dois guias: um à frente e outro atrás do grupo. Também, não há necessidade de acordar às 5 horas para ir ver o amanhecer em uma lancha no meio do rio (até parece que é para justificar os passeios incluídos no pacote), porque no dia seguinte, na parada do encontro das águas, vê-se esse mesmo nascer do sol, porém, da proa do navio. O mesmo acontece na saída noturna para focar jacarés e ver animais. Com o rio oito metros acima do nível normal, tudo alagado, não havia animais, fora duas preguiças. De dia, viu-se preguiças e macacos (poucos). A alimentação era variada, com opções de comida regional e a equipe comandado pelo maitre Nailson é muito boa. Destaque para o guia Epifânio: conhecimento, cordialidade, bom humor, pronto a ajudar. Deixou a desejar também, a companhia não ter enviado as informações antes do embarque, por email ou whatsapp, nem entregue em papel no check in.

Passeios interessantes e bem organizados Insetos de todo tipo no barco todo. Aranhas em todo o deck superior e relatos até de baratas em uma cabine. Tivemos algumas formigas. Cheiro de umidade em alguns locais e muita manutenção necessaria, nas cabines especialmente. O serviço receptivo é muito ruim, os do porto jnexistem e os do barco são precários. Não ha qualquer suporte ao hospede antes de embarcar e depois de desembarcar. Não combinam os problemas com o preço

- Richard (9/5): Amazon adventure - It is a great experience. The staff are very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. They make sure you are comfortable and enjoying your trip. Everything is well prepared and you will never go hungry, the food doesn't stop coming! When you visit a local community on the river, they separated the English speakers because the greeting and performance by the community is in Portuguese. So we were unable to watch, which defeats the point of the excursion. They should rather let the English group watch the performance and then the tour guide can provide an explanation afterwards.

Accommodation, food, excursions and staff were just fantastic. Exceeded expectations. No information provided about the cruise, especially key information like booking confirmation, check in times, where to check in, what to expect, what to pack, etc. Not very responsive either... but it all worked out beautifully in the end.

- Joanne (10/5): Previous memories of the Amazon - Just finished the 4 night cruise and it exceeded our expectations. Although the boat is a little tired it is spotlessly clean (cabins serviced twice per day) and well appointed. Good size cabins, all with a balcony and enormous comfortable bed, tv, wifi, minibar, dressing gown, slippers etc. it was a floating hotel room. The staff are all lovely, a particular we would like to thank to Moura in the dining who took such good care of us. He was very kind and attentive, I was a little apprehensive as some reviews said the food was not good & the wine was undrinkable but actually we found the opposite. Lots of Amazonian fish, fresh salads, fruit (plus lots of treats if you preferred). We particularly enjoyed the captain’s dinner on the final night Food was delicious. It was followed by a wonderful show. Several excursions per day so the boredom get a chance to take hold. Although it seems expensive when you book it, you don’t have to spend a single cent whilst on board. It is, fully all inclusive and once you add everything up, it feels like good value. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cruise. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. Nothing

All safety precautions were appropriate both on board and during excursions. The ship and it's amenities was fisrt class. The bars were well stocked and very well staffed. Overall and exceptional 4 days on one of the natural wonders of the world. I would like to have seen more of the river and some narrower riverways but acknowledge that there are 3 main impediments, 1) fuel use and excessive CO2 emmisions (although it lies amidst one of the great CO2 consuming regions on the globe), 2) navigational limitations of such a large vessel on narrow waterways with shifting channels, and 3) operational costs. Still some shift from night travel/ day anchor towards night anchor/ day travel might provide more adventure for the guests.

- Riccardo (6/5): Not even remotely a 5-star - We had a great time on the Iberostar Grand Expedition. The food variety was good, the cocktails were great, and the excursions were quite fun—especially the piranha fishing. The staff (shoutout to Ale and the guides) were super friendly. The bed was very comfortable Definitely not worth the €600 per night. The ship is very old (see attached photos), with decaying and crusty cabins that felt far from luxurious. To make it worse, water constantly dripped from the ceiling due to the air conditioning—really uncomfortable. We were also let down by the lack of wildlife. While I understand this isn’t the ship’s fault, we only saw birds, birds, and more birds, plus a couple of pink dolphins. Not the experience we were hoping for. Overall, the ship’s condition and the overall experience just didn’t live up to the price tag.

The ship is dated. Quite old and needs new paint. The blue and green needs to be changed to more neutral colours. We would have liked to have seen more animals in the jungle. Needed to go on the tender boats into small locations. in the river.

- Constance (3/5): We did not respect the management's handling of illness. Found them abusive, not helpful. - Rooms were good, HUGE beds. Balcony nice. Good bathrooms. Nice deck space upstairs and liked family dining at a reserved table. Meals fine. Excellent trip guides. We were really shocked with how the team leader handled a covid family member. Clearly she needed to stay in room, but our son tested negative every day and was also not allowed to exit his room. That meant this bucket list trip was totally wasted on half of our group from day 1. The tone of team leader was very abusive to them as they reported her sick, telling them they would be kicked off the ship and forced to pay lodgings in town. The medical staff only had tylinol to offer and they did not require any covid testing to enter ship. This is 2024 NOT 2020. Restriction of those ill is understandable, but punishing others who test negative is not logical and there was no follow up communication from the ship staff. We were very disappointed and will not recommend this trip to anyone.

The little pool was full of children splashing all over the sunbeds and screaming their heads off. Really ruined our experience on the boat as we didn’t want to sit by the pool. Only one sitting for dinner at 8pm so massive queues to get your food. Our rooms were smelly and damp.

The staff was exceptionally helpful, efficient and knowlegeable. I would appreciate if the air conditioning in the room was not so cold. This was a bit of an issue during the nights and it could not be properly adjusted.

Adorei - Pontos positivos: beleza do local, conforto, atendimento da equipe (exceto por uma pessoa todos foram muito educados e gentis, fazendo de tudo para nos agradar), internet boa, comida maravilhosa e regional. Ponto negativo: passeio “caminhada na floresta” decepcionante por conta da falta de profissionalismo do guia que corria pela floresta sem pensar que havia idosos no grupo (em nenhum local do passeio dizia que correríamos pela mata e que seria trilha difícil). Eu que não sou idosa tive dificuldade e fiquei chocada com frases do guia como “se continuar assim levaremos 3 horas” ou “se não quiserem ver o que mostro eu não mostro mais” quando eu não quis comer uma seiva que ele retirou de uma árvore. Eu sequer consegui repassar meu repelente porque ele corria, cheguei a pensar que iria me perder, já que ele sequer voltava para mostrar o caminho. Sorte que os demais me ajudaram. Porém, mesmo assim valeu muito a viagem

Ficamos embarcados por cinco dias, acabou o pão de hambúrguer, catchup, batata frita, coca zero… não tinha alimentação disponível durante todo o dia como se publicou no site. Fica difícil você não se alimentar e ficar com fome. Comida nos horários disponibilizados de baixa qualidade. O check out diz no site as 11:00 porém fomos obrigados a deixar o navio às 8:30 e o café só serviram das 7:00 às 8:00 se se acordasse mais tarde não tomaria café. Enfim, não recomendo esse passeio. Acredito que outros hotéis o tenham em melhor qualidade a rede iberoestar levaria uma nota 5 se muito, somente por causa do material humano ou seja a equipe que fez a limpeza dos quartos, aqueles das excursões e os que nos serviram nas refeições que são extremamente atenciosos, a eles nota 10.
- Andrew (10/5): Great way to stay in comfort in the jungle - The ship was lovely, cabin spacious and bed huge and comfortable. Cabin was serviced efficiently twice a day. Excellent food options. Lovely swimming pool, although jacuzzi stopped working during the trip. All excursions happened on time and exactly as expected. Guides were knowledgable and trips were interesting. Everything was excellent, although we didn’t find the talks as interesting as we’d hoped.
- John (10/5): Just book. It's brilliant!! - I simply cannot think of a better way of exploring the Amazon, especially if you want to do it in comfort, style and enjoy good food and wine. A special mention for the truly amazing guides, not forgetting the skilful skiff pilots! It might be owned by a Spanish hotel chain, but what makes it so special is that all the staff are from Manaus and the surrounding area and they all have a genuine passion for their homeland. Well done Iberostar for making this ship such an amazing experience rather than just another floating , but "branded" hotel. A tip: Do the whole 8 days. By doing both trips you really see the beautiful diversity of the Amazon. Having to go home 😔

- Nadia (10/5): Great place to explore the Amazon if you want a little bit of luxury! - We loved everything. The staff were super friendly and helpful with everything. The facilities were fantastic, we spent so much time in the pools on deck and just enjoying the view. The tours were all very well organised and the guides were great. They were very knowledgeable, spoke multiple languages and took the time to explain everything and answer all the questions. The food (and cocktails) were incredible, not just the main breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets in the dining room but also the smaller buffets served up on deck in between. The wifi which they only just got worked perfectly the whole time which was great as I had to work a little bit. We loved our room and our balcony and spent a lot of time out there as there were no mosquitos at all! There was also a nurse which was lucky for me because I actually got sick on one of the days but she treated me right away. So if you're looking to enjoy a bit of luxury while exploring the Amazon, this is definitely the right choice.
