Palmar Beach Hostel accepts the listed credit cards and reserves the right to temporarily hold an amount prior to arrival. Please note that Palmar Beach Lodge is currently undergoing renovations in our restaurant area, scheduled to continue through December 20th, 2025. These upgrades are part of our commitment to enhancing your future experience, with modernized spaces and new amenities that reflect the unique charm of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Construction will take place Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and may occasionally result in noise-related disturbances. However, all guest services will remain fully operational, including alternative beachfront dining options to ensure your comfort. We are doing everything we can to minimize any impact on your stay and maintain the high standards of service you expect. For guests planning to spend their days exploring nearby beaches, hiking trails, or enjoying local tours, the effect of the renovations will likely be minimal or unnoticeable. Emile (9/5): Genoten op een een bijzondere plek van natuur en heerlijk eten - Prachtige locatie midden in het regenwoud. Prima ontbijt en lekkere diners. Schitterend strand voor de deur! Veel dieren gezien onder en boven water. Adembenemend mooi. Prachtig zwembad. Vriendelijk personeel, die graag alles voor je regelen. Een enkele keer gaat er wel eens iets mis. Als je per creditcard betaald, betaal je 7% toeslag. Dus neem voldoende cash mee!

elenaburguet (10/5): - El hotel esta inmerso en la jungla y esta diseñado con mucho gusto. El restaurante es precioso y toda la comida muy rica. El hotel esta frente a la playa y tiene una piscina con vistas al mar. Hay hamacas disponibles y actividades como yoga por la mañana. Las habitaciones tienen mosquiteras y las camas son cómodas. Única pega que las Cabañas al ser de techo de chapa por la noche la lluvia se escucha mucho.

Malouk (8/5): - Mooie locatie, vriendelijk personeel. Groot en comfortabel bed, middenin de natuur. Luiaards, gifkikkertjes, vogels. Mooi zwembad en fijn restaurant. Er was geen droogrek aanwezig, al onze zwemkleding hebben we moeten weggooien door vlekken van het ongelakte hout in het huisje. Let hier dus mee op! Na een paar dagen gaat de kaart van het restaurant wat vervelen, er zijn niet veel andere faciliteiten.
Eduard (10/5): - Me encantó el camino a través de la selva para llegar al hotel. El hotel tiene mucho encanto y todas las facilidades. Clases de Yoga cada mañana con Magaly gratuitas para los huéspedes. El restaurante cuenta con una amplia variedad de menú y muchas opciones para vegetarianos/veganos. Todo el personal del hotel y del restaurante es muy amable. Tiene una increíble piscina en la azotea en la que puedes disfrutar de un baño con bonitas vistas. Cuenta con una playa de fondo de arena en la que poder bañarse y disfrutar de las olas. Las cabañas en medio de la selva hacen una experiencia única.

No todos, pero alguna de las personas que atienden en el restaurante, parece que te atienden haciéndote un favor.

We hadden de jungle tent geboekt met de verwachting van een echte jungle ervaring, maar de tent stond tussen 2 hoge luxe appartementen torens. Hierdoor verdween het jungle gevoel wel een beetje. De man achter de receptie behandelde ons erg onprettig (achter onze rug om te gebaren) en behandelde ons als kleine kinderen. Al het andere personeel was daarentegen ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Mohamed (10/5): séjour inoubliable en famille - Je sais pas trop, par où commencer déjà l’emplacement est juste magique, pour accéder à l’hôtel, nous devons faire une marche d’environ 10 minutes dans la jungle durant la marche, on a pu apercevoir les paresseux des caïman, des singes, des grenouilles rouges. L’hôtel est carrément situé sur une plage paradisiaque, digne d’un film, Le restaurant de l’hôtel ainsi que le petit déjeuner est juste fabuleux, servi à la carte et non pas en buffet pour les deux . Il y a aussi une Piscine qui surplombe la plage. Il y a aussi la possibilité de prévoir toutes vos activités depuis l’accueil. Le personnel est top . Rien
Louisa (9/5): - Die Lodges wunderschön und gemütlich! Die Lage direkt am Traumstrand. Essen super lecker (v.a. der vegetarische Burger). Fransisco, der junge Mann an der Rezeption ist sehr sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Der Service war auch sehr lieb. Man ist quasi verpflichtet abends dort zu essen, da nichts drumherum ist. Unflexibilität bei Checkout und beim Frühstück. Bei der Bezahlung per Creditcard zahlt man eine Gebühr von 5%.

Arantzazu (9/5): Descanso y disfrute en un paraíso. - La ubicación es una maravilla , el restaurante delicioso, el personal muy agradable, el Hotel es muy cómodo y la limpieza es impecable. En la cena suele haber actividades, tipo profesores de salsa o música en directo, aunque muy relajadamente todo. Muy buena gestión de todos los servicios externos tanto las excursiones como los taxi boad. Tiene una piscina preciosa. Que en el desayuno los jugos fueran de caja, la iluminación del baño se puede mejorar, porque realmente en el resto del Hotel es impecable El baño de la habitación está OK aunque se podría mejorar también. Han construido un par de edificios nuevos integrados en la selva , que tienen muy buena pinta, había habitaciones que están recién reformadas.. La zona de depósitos de la depuración, se podría esconder para que no se vea desde la habitación Echamos en falta un gimnasio, aunque fuese al aire libre y con lo básico.

Sandra (9/5): Traumhafter Strand und Pool - Super schöner Strand, an dem man schwimmen kann & traumhafter Pool. Outdoor-Badezimmer und leckeres Frühstück. Alles nicht überfüllt. Im Zelt kam es keinen Kühlschrank, und das Zelt war unten nicht ganz befestigt. Das Personal war manchmal nicht sehr freundlich. Es gibt leider kaum andere Möglichkeiten, um dort essen zu gehen. Leider kosten die Strandtücher auch etwas zum Leihen.
LE SAVOYARD 73 (7/5): Bien mais pas top. - La plage, piscine en étage et le restaurant. Le bruit la nuit d'un moteur électrique ou autres. La chambre avait le bruit comme dans un avion en vol.

Man fühlt sich wie im Paradies. Das Personal super nett und man fühlt sich sehr gut aufgehoben. Die Unterkunft einfach toll! Das Essen super lecker, Frühstück ebenfalls sehr gut. Ich hatte eine fantastische Zeit - Ruhe, Sonne, Strand, Meer, lecker Essen :) Faultiere gesehen :) -
Jana (10/5): - Jelikož jsme byli skupina o 8 lidech, byli jsme ubytování v chatce pro 8 osob a bylo to naprosto úžasné. Celé prostředí hotelu zasazeného do džungle a přitom hned u moře nás ohromilo, cestou do chatky jsme pokaždé viděli červené žabičky. Personál milý, ochotný. Pláž u ubytování nedoporučuji kvůli spodním proudům. Krásná pláž je Polo, na kterou se dostanete krásnou, asi 30ti minutovou procházkou. Cestou jsme viděli i lenochoda, který zrovna slézal po stromě a byl tak od nás ani ne 2 metry.

I was impressed at how they built an elevated walkway to protect the forest floor and how they built new buildings with minimal impact to surrounding tress. The restaurant is really good, although sometimes busy at night. The restaurant should schedule meals 1.5 hours apart to avoid overlap and crowding. I was disappointed with the size of our room, for the price we paid. For comparison, we stayed at La Coralina on Isla Colon in a much bigger room with much much better amenities (spa, gym, long pool, sauna) for a similar cost.

Marcel (9/5): Wer Dschungel und Strand mag, ist hier absolut richtig! - Ein Paradies mitten in dichtem Dschungel. Wir kamen bei Regen an und sagen dadurch viele kleine rote Frösche, welche wohl den Namen für den langen Sandstrand Red Frog Beach gegeben haben. Der Service war gut und das Personal freundlich. Negativ war dass man mit einem Armband aus Papier getaggt wird, welches jeden Tag einmal abfällt. Das könnte man besser machen. Trinkwasser kann gratis selber vom Hahn gezapft werden, aber eine Flasche muss man kaufen. Umständlich. Bei einem Hotel dieser Klasse erwarte ich täglich eine Wasserflasche auf dem Zimmer. Die Rechnung muss im Voraus gezahlt werden, was den Anschein erweckt dass man den Gästen nicht vertraut. Zudem werden bei Bezahlung 5% Zuschlag erhoben, was gar nicht geht und offenbar per Gesetz verboten ist.
nofar (10/5): - We had a wonderful five-night honeymoon stay. From the warm welcome to the stunning beach location on one of Bocas del Toro’s most beautiful islands – everything was perfect. The restaurant is excellent, with delicious food and great service. Special thanks to Joel for his kindness and attentiveness. The hotel is very well maintained, the room was beautiful and well designed, and even small issues were handled quickly and warmly. A big thank you to Pablo, the restaurant and bar manager, for his great help and for going above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it! It would have been nice to have more lighting along the path from the dock to the hotel, as it can be very dark at night.

Denise (9/5): Dit is echt een ongelofelijk mooie en heerlijke plek! - Ik sliep in een prachtige dorm volledig van hout, genaamd cacao. De tuin waar alle verblijven in liggen is echt super mooi aangelegd. De plek aan het strand is heerlijk. Daarnaast serveren ze goede, gezonde en lekkere maaltijden uit in het restaurant.

Lukas (10/5): If you can afford it, do it! - Location at red frog was awesome! Super friendly stuff, awesome and well maintained clean facilities. Free yoga, drinking water. Pool and chill area was great. Food was delicious! Dorms were super nice, cozy clean and well maintained and also lots of space for everyone! Overall quite pricey for our backpacking budget but worth the money and matching the location and facilities. A little downer were the stuff at the restaurant who were super slow and did not really seem to have a proper overview.

Tamara (8/5): We had a wonderful time and would love to come back! - Location was great. Staff were friendly. The beach was great. My son loved playing in the giant waves. They had a welcome volunteer that introduced us to the island and took us for a tour to the neighbouring beach, which was also beautiful. The food at the restaurant was delicious and cocktails were great. The rooms were very comfortable. We spent the last 2 nights of our 7 night stay in Bocas at this location and it was a great way for us to end our trip. Overall, the stay was very good. I would highly recommend it. I didn't like the sand flies and mosquitos on the beach. I got eaten alive. You definitely need to wear bug spray. The staff at the restaurant could have been better. They were helpful, but for the price, I thought the service could have been much better.

Jule (7/5): Abseits vom Service und Essen ein tolles Resort - Atemberaubende Lage mitten im Jungle und am Strand, tolles Design, komfortable aber kleine Zimmer, wo es aber an nichts fehlte, Wasserstation um seine Flasche aufzufüllen Die Angestellten wirkten leider oft so als hatten sie keine Lust zu arbeiten oder würden genötigt werden dort zu sein. An der Rezeption wurde man weggeschickt und auf später vertröstet, wenn man mehr als eine Frage hatte. Der Service im Restaurant war unterirdisch, teilweise hat man sein Essen innerhalb von 5 Minuten bekommen und seine Getränke nach 40 Minuten und 3 Erinnerungen noch nicht, bei zwischenzeitlich 8 Angestellten auf 20 Gäste! Vieles auf der Karte gab es auch oft nicht (mehr), was ungünstig war, da es auf der Insel auch kaum bis keine Alternativen zum Essen gibt. Hier und da gab es aber auch sehr freundliche Angestellte.

Maëva (10/5): Un paradis sur terre ... - Nous avons adoré cet endroit, la beauté du lieu, du logement, la plage avec la musique, le restaurant bref c'est un vrai paradis sur terre dont on se souviendra ! Une mention spéciale aux deux serveuses du restaurant samedi soir que nous n'avons eu qu'une seule fois hélas, nous aurions voulu (comme nos voisins de table) laisser un pourboire mais pas possible en individuel ! Quelques points sont quand même à noter : Les oreillers sentaient mauvais (mal séché ?) ce n'était pas agréable Pour le prix du bungalow ça manquerait de quelques équipements comme un sèche-cheveux par exemple, une deuxième chaise pour se poser en terrasse... Le personnel dans l'ensemble n'est pas super avenant et agréable mais ça reste correct

Charles (10/5): Beach, rainforest and everything else in between! - Palmar is a lovely hotel right in the rainforest and on the beach. We loved the hotels decor and feel, and loved how we could hear all the birds and sounds of the rainforest from our rooms. We saw lots of red frogs in the hotel grounds and a sloth. The hotel puts on activities throughout the day which we loved. We really enjoyed the two live music nights while we were there. The staff were great and very friendly, and the food in the restaurant was some of the best we had on our trip. Thank you Palmar for an amazing stay! Nothing

Loreta (10/5): I am impressed! - We really liked the hotel, the surrounding nature, the beaches, the evening program, the excursions and entertainment offered. But what we liked most was the hotel staff. First of all, their sincerity, professionalism. Only upon arriving at the hotel did we realize that we did not have flight tickets back to Panama City from Bocas del Toro. Unfortunately, the nearest flight tickets were too late for us... And here the front desk agents sincerely came to our aid. They arranged all the logistics for us, booked ferries between the islands and a bus to Panama City. We are extremely grateful to the front desk agent Zulay (I hope I remember her name well) and her colleague (I'm sorry, but I don't remember his name) for all their help and smiles. There was nothing to dislike.

Kamran (9/5): Regenwaldidylle - Super Lage, super Hotel, echter Komfort. Das Personal war Spitze, die Anlage wunderschön. Ein echter Hinkucker und eine Spitzenunterkunft. Wundervoll zwischen Regendwald und Strand eingeklemmt. Natur und Erholung in einem. Gutes Restaurant. Die Anlage ist im Umbau. Obschon man uns mitteilte, dass die Umbauten fertig gestellt seien, wurde vor unserer Kabine gesägt, gebohrt und gehämmert. Das Personal war äußerst professionell nachdem wir reklamiert haben, daher sei das jetzt verziehen. Was auch war, war dass wir nicht das Zimmer bekommen haben, das wir bestellt hatten. Wir wurden auf Papier up-gegraded, was aber auch hiess, dass meine Tochter auf einer Matratze am Boden in einer 2er Kabin mit uns schlafen durfte, statt wir zu dritt in einem 4-er Zelt. Mag sein, dass das am Ende für denselben Preis die bessere und höherwertige Option war (mit AC und eigenem WC/Bad), aber irgendwie hätte ein Feldbett durchaus drinliegen können. Aber auch das war verschmerzbar gegeben der wunderschönen Umgebung. Zu guter Letzt fanden meine Frau und meine Tochter die komplett betrunkenen männlichen Reisenden, die von der Hauptinsel nachts zurück auf Isla Bastimentos kamen und im Etablissement nebenan wohnten sehr einschüchternd und wollten entsprechend nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit nicht mehr allein rausgehen und den Regenwald erkunden. Komplett unnötig, wenn auch nicht aussergewöhnlich bei gewissen angelsächsischen Nationalitäten. Beim Strand ist höchste Vorsicht geboten, der Strand eignet sich nicht zum Baden. Die Ripcurrents sind stark und es haben schon Leute ihr Leben verloren an diesem Strand. Nur soweit ins Wasser gehen, wie man noch sicher stehen kann.
Laura (7/5): Ein paar Tage am Strand verbringen - Sehr modernes Hotel, unser Zimmer mit Dachterasse war hervorragend. Klima funktioniert gut. Willkommensgeschenk: Wasser, Schokolade und persönlicher Brief total herzlich. Bei ChecKIn Kokosnusswassser erhalten! Frühstück war äußerst lecker (haben wir zugebucht) Man ist auf das Restaurant angewiesen, da in der nächsten Umgebung kein weiteres Restaurant ist. Wellen sehr hoch, zum Baden daher schwierig!

Beim inkludierten Frühstück waren die Portionen sehr unterschiedlich gross. Bsp. 2 mal Smoothiebowl bestellt und z sehr unterschiedlich grosse Schüsseln erhalten.

FERNANDO (10/5): Sin duda para repetir - El hotel está un una ubicación impresionante, estas rodeado de naturaleza pero sin perder ninguna comodidad y con unas instalaciones impresionantes. Lo mejor del hotel es sin duda el personal, nos trataron de manera excepcional y siempre pendiente de que no te falte de nada, son todos muy serviciales y agradables. Cuando estuvimos en el hotel estaban de obras y justo nuestra habitación estaba cerca de las basuras por lo que, sobre todo el baño, olía mal. Dependiendo del viento se notaba más o menos pero en algunos momentos era bastante desagradable. Sin contar eso el resto del hotel un 10

Laura (10/5): Una estancia de ensueño - Lo que más nos gustó del alojamiento fue la habitación, y el restaurante. La comida estaba buenísima y muy bien relación calidad precio para la calidad del producto. Quizá que la cena se servía solo hasta las 8 de la tarde. Para estar de vacaciones me parece un poco pronto
Fábio (10/5): - O Palmar entrega exatamente aquilo que promete. O espaço é incrível, o staff é muito simpático e os quartos são ótimos. Comemoramos lá um aniversário e o staff ajudou-me a preparar uma surpresa. Há música ao vivo em algumas noites e, à segunda-feira, ainda há direito a fogueira e marshmallows. Adoramos tudo. O pior foi o tempo... infelizmente, apesar de termos ido numa época boa, choveu. Mas nem isso prejudicou a nossa experiência no Palmar. A praia também é ótima e temos acesso a cadeiras e toalhas. Para o restaurante também não temos palavras! É tudo ótimo!
