The staff is very cooperative and courteous, always willing to assist with a smile.
The food served at the hotel is of good quality, with a decent variety on offer.
However, the property is quite old and carries an aged smell that can be a bit off-putting.
Additionally, the towels provided could be better handled, as the ones given had an unpleasant odor upon changing.

Food was also good and taste. Service was so wonderful. Staff are very coprative specially mentioned the name of mr vikram sheff was provide food. - 797ravip (6/5): Should be better - I stayed at an IHCL hotel in May and, while the property itself was decent, several issues made my stay less enjoyable. Firstly, the condition of the hotel was not up to the mark, with noticeable maintenance problems in my room. This was disappointing, especially given the reputation of IHCL hotels.
Moreover, the staff's attitude was not welcoming, which significantly impacted my experience. One of the hallmarks of IHCL hotels should be their friendly and accommodating service, but this was sorely lacking. For instance, when I requested additional water bottles, I was directed to fill my own bottles from a cooler in the corridor. This response felt quite cheap and unprofessional, particularly for a hotel under the IHCL brand. I expected better customer service and a more guest-centric approach.
Given these issues, I would not recommend staying at this particular hotel. There are plenty of other options where you might have a more pleasant and comfortable experience. The combination of poor maintenance and indifferent staff made my stay less than satisfactory, and I believe there are better alternatives available. It is unfortunate that a hotel under such a prestigious brand failed to meet basic expectations.

- JShaaz (2/5): Horrific experience at such heft rates - One of the worst hotel possibly one can stay for the following reasons :
1. We were travelling with infants and kids and made sure before booking that food will available as and when required since small kids are there . We were assured of the same . To our horror, the kitchen is outsourced . YES , it’s outsourced and it closes at 10:30 in the night and you can’t even get a cup of tea before 8:00 in the morning .
2. Food quality was pathetic . Upma, poha all seemed rotten and tasted sour . Everything else very very oily . The buffet was limited to only to maximum 3 things
3. The staff is exceptionally rude and ill mannered . Each and every staff was hardly bothered about guests need
4. There are termites in the room of one of my friends and had to change in the night .
5. Some guests even complained that at 2AM in the morning staff used MASTER Key and opened the room and very rudely informed that by mistake the room was wrongly alloyed to them and they are suppose to be shifted to another room . HORRIFIC
Guys save you precious time, money and patience and AVOID staying in this hotel/piece of crap .

Their front desk person named Anirudh said they have the authority to open any room without guest person ND olso in their absence... It a very shameful act by the hotel staff.. how can u open guest room without his permission nd olso in their absence.. I ll request Ginger authority to take appropriate action against Anirudh and their manager..

- soumitrad925 (10/5): Ginger Katra is best hotel to stay in Katra.. - Jai Mata Di... Ginger Katra is awesome. It's one of the best property in Katra. Very good facilities are provided. GM Amit ji is very helpful person. He took care of each and every guest with smiling face everytime. Mr Rakesh (Travel), Mr Singh (Engg), HK person and both from reception is best to take care of guests. They are assets of Ginger Katra hotel.
Very good location. Lots of ATM and market is available , just outside of hotel. Rooms are big and very clean. Restaurant Spinach provides very delicious food.
Very much thanks to Mr Sujan Ganguly who referred me this hotel.

- INDIANCPL (2/5): Worst experience in Ginger Katra - Booked due to brand name of Ginger & Tata but it is the worst property of Ginger in India as experienced. Rooms are shady, cockroaches well visible. Amenities in room are not working properly, entire hotel needs a makeover. Staff itself are frustrated with the management. You will get very good properties nearby in same price which we regretted on reaching here. Don’t go with brand name here.

I have booked 3 rooms for senior citizen group and as u know train reached early. So I and even mmt representative requested them for 1 room only for early check-in, they refused and even we offered to take some charge and book room but they said book rooms for previous night if u want early check-in and then we said can u accommodate all in 1 room they again refused and said for that u have to book 2 rooms for previous night.

The Air condition unit in room isn’t working and it was making a loud noise.When Technician arrived in my room , he informed us that it can not be rectified. And this sound is normal. Old property, where they need alot of improvement. However Anirudh at reception was really helpful.
- linasea (6/5): Renovation required!! - This hotel needs a serious renovation and a better quality restaurant for breakfast. The tea served is excellent though. However, the room, the bathroom, the outside walls are in poor condition. One can find better alternatives for the same price. This is a TATA group franchise. I was disappointed. On the other hand, staff at the reception and in the small restaurant are very nice, friendly and helpful.
- Dharshivani007 (2/5): Me and my sister booked a hotel room on February 25, 2023, at the Ginger Hotel Katra, and a man broke into our room. - Last night, me and my sister checked into the Ginger Hotel in Katra after a long trek and were exhausted, so we booked the family room for two due to the unavailability of other rooms and the market credibility of the Ginger Hotel, a unit of Indian Hotels Company Limited.
This morning we had an unrealistic experience. Both my sister and I were in the room sleeping when suddenly, with the sound of the door, our sleep was disturbed and we saw a man who broke into our room. Even after being called several times, he used the washroom and didn’t respond to us, so we got panicked and we called the reception and conveyed the whole incidence. However, the response we got from the manager was :
1. I am sorry I forgot to check you in.
2. The guy who broke into the room was new and not aware
Above all, to close the incident, the manager says, "Galti ho gayi, abh aap bataoo, kya kar saktay hai."
English translation: It was a mistake; now you tell me what to do.
I am still in deep shock at how a hotel with such a brand name can hinder the privacy of its guests and be so chill about it.
I want serious action to be taken both by Indian Hotel Company Limited and Ginger Hotel.
