Guest Reviews
- Cotey (10/5): -
- Vivienne (8/5): - Lovely view. Clean Housekeeping not every day
Breakfast options in the town very limited
- Chantel (10/5): Hidden gem - This was one of our three stop for our family vacation and the best part of our stay. The hotel at first glance was worrying however the hotel was amazing. The staff were nice and easy going, they gave ideas of places to visit while in town. The room was pet friendly and great. The room was clean, large, and quiet.
- PhilTeam (9/5): - Le surclassement à petit prix
- Gordon (10/5): - Great service, the staff were extremely accommodating and extremely helpful. Beautiful scenery, situated right by the lake.
- Frank (8/5): -
- Randy (4/5): Disappointing -
- Brian (9/5): A great, comfortable hotel with a glorious view! - A comfortable, clean hotel with an exceptional view. It was more than we expected considering the size of the town. We'd definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Bathroom could be cleaner
- Cheryl (10/5): - Very comfortable and would stay again there staff was very accommodating and kind 😊
- Akash (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denny (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Provided us accurate directions to a local restaurant. Nice area for running early in the morning.
- Greg (10/5): - I had frozen meat that needed a freezer. Staff helped with that and were wonderful.
- Mary-louise (7/5): I would certainly stay there again. - The location of the hotel was perfect for our needs. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The customer lounge was perfect for early mornings so I didn't disturb my travelling companions. The bathroom was huge and the rooms was very spacious. There could have been a couple of shelves in the bathroom so I could put my clothes on something besides the floor after I used the shower.
- Catherine (8/5): Enjoyed my stay. Room was very comfortable during the hot weather. - Room was large and clean. It was very quiet. Wish the restaurant was open. There is limited places to have breakfast in Fort St. James.
- Dt (7/5): Good - View from window of lake Water smelt off and noise from elevator
- Shannon (8/5): Very good -
- Walton (8/5): The accommodations were comfortable, clean and pleasant. - The bathroom was not all-inclusive—they did not try to put everything in bathroom, therefore one could use the toilet or the shower while another could put on make-up or shave without interfering with the other person’s activity. The bath/shower worked well & everything was very clean. There wasn’t any restaurant or breakfast availability. There also isn’t a restaurant open for morning in the whole community!
- Yvette (10/5): EXCEPTIONAL! I Will Be Back... - All the staff were super accessible (even at 4 a.m.!), knowledgeable, and friendly. My room on the 3rd Floor was extremely clean and inviting (LOVED the bed!).
And I had the best view as well. This hotel is not deceptive in its marketing, like many others can be. "The View" REALLY is RIGHT at the lake's edge. Sunrises and sunsets - gorgeous. And complete silence, except for the tranquil sounds of birds chirping. :)
[Attached pics are of my actual view from my room on the 3rd Floor, as well as one of a picnic bench right at the hotel to enjoy.]
This hotel is also pet-friendly. I didn't bring along a Furry Friend, but it was a pleasure seeing many dogs that have a designated floor (I believe some rooms on the 2nd floor).
If you're a smoker, there are great designated spots outside (three of them, I believe), two of which had amazing views and one that was sheltered in the event it rained, etc. All kept clean, too. You don't even have to be a smoker to enjoy these designated picnic benches... you can just enjoy the view and listen to the birds! No complaints whatsoever. Which I find funny, as I'm usually the first one to point out flaws. LOL
- Davis-haddon (9/5): Would stay again. - Not much to look at on the outside, but our room was outstanding. Very clean, very comfortable. Just mainly a little TLC on the exterior.
- Linda (10/5): - The hotel had nice clean, modern looking rooms. The bed was very comfortable. Enjoyed our night at the View.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jesse (10/5): - The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in! And the view of Stuart Lake was fantastic! The internet was very slow, I ended up hot spotting off my phone most of my stay. And there are very limited dining options, and the ones that are there close early in the evening. But overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it!
- Ed (8/5): Very good -
- Carson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorin (8/5): - I really wish it had a restaurant like it had before.
- Dwayne (8/5): Very good -
- Joey (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christopher (8/5): A convenient place to stay on our trip - Good location. Didn't see any breakfast
- Anonymous (8/5): Hotel was renovated and clean. The restaurant was closed and the only place for breakfast in the community was subway. - It was convenient for a small town I had a large piece of HVAC equipment blocking my view
- Maryam (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view from the room. There was a mistake through booking.vom and they didn't have pet friendly rooms so they gave us two rooms with the price of one. The staff is very friendly. Rooms are very clean. Everything was great We.loved everything
- Simon (10/5): - I had a nice experience here. Third floor has wonderful views of Stuart Lake. Staff are outstanding and so helpful. King's cafe next to the hotel has a nice breakfast menu, and St. James Restaurant has decent but expensive Chinese cuisine; it closes earlier than you might think. There is a Subway Cafe a few minutes walk from the hotel, and there is a Save On grocery store a little past the Subway. I grew up in Fort St. James; The View is definitely not the old Fort St. James Hotel.
- Sabrina (2/5): - Je croyais avoir un lit King comme reserver mais malheureusement nous avons du payer extra pour avoir un lit queen… car il n’y a pas de lit king dans tout l’hôtel, endroit non accueillant et poils dans la salle de bain
- David (8/5): - People Bumping uglies real loud in the hotel. Could hear them all through the building.
- Robert (8/5): Best Kept Secret in The Fort - It's not much to look at from the outside but the rooms were newly renovated and very comfortable. The bed was first class. The clientele were workers rather than travellers so it was quiet. We had a very comfortable stay. It would have been nice to have some kind of a breakfast option as Ft. St. James is restaurant challenged, but there was a little fridge for our fruit and yogurt, so no worries.
- Cora (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful personnel.
- Milan (10/5): Unexpectedly nice hotel in Fort St James. We enjoyed our stay. - We loved the view of the lake. The hotel looked recently renovated. The restaurant on the main floor should open within a couple of weeks.
- David (8/5): Good stay comfortable beds great location on the lake - N/A,location was great for our needs No restaurant, and shower head, was poor
- Peter (5/5): The room was comfy and clean. The staff member at the front desk was polite and friendly. The common areas of the hotel - Location was great as was the staff The stairs and hallways were quite dirty and no vacuuming was done in the common areas
- Michael (8/5): - It was good
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): - Modern stylish rooms with a spectacular view of the lake, I’ll be staying here again!
- Adelheide (10/5): - Easy to walk every where
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (6/5): Expensive! - I was blown away by how expensive it was to have two beds! One bed was $150 and then 2 beds being 270! I’ll never stay here again.
- Terry (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Peter (7/5): Good - An open restaurant
- Marvin (9/5): Superb - There was no breakfast nor was there a place in town to eat. There was o place in town to eat.
- Bartholomew (10/5): - This is a well managed and responsively staffed hotel on top of quality renovated suites.
- Laurel (8/5): - So this is basically the only place in Ft St James to stay. The hotel is older but has been well maintained. One thing…DO NOT ACCEPT ROOM 225 . It is classed as Lakeview except the window looks out on the HVAC system you do not have a lakeview. I complained and they reduced my rate but the hotel was fully booked and so could not change my room. You pay more for lakeview which is beautiful…just not from room 225!!!
- Sarah (8/5): - The view was nice. The water in the tub was rusty
- Keith (10/5): - great view
- DARCIA (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay.
- Silviawati (10/5): - I was there for 1 night. The hotel is well maintained and clean. Parking is adequate.
- Susan (4/5): - I like that it was beside my work location. Did not like no housekeeping for three days! No changing towels, removing garbage!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - front staff member not friendly at all. Water was coming out brown. floors looked like they had not been vacuumed in months
- Beat (10/5): - It was covid-19 and there was no food, but the room and the view were great!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Way overpriced for what it is... the tap water had sediment in it (but elsewhere in town the water was clear... so it was the hotel). Asked for a kettle and it was coated in mineral residue/dust inside. There were a few other issues - overall it isn’t worth a stay. I’ll opt to stay in Vanderhoof and do the drive to Fort St. James if needed
- Danny (4/5): - Would have preferred a lake view, got a parking lot view, asked to change room but they wouldn't allow it as it was booked by Expedia they said, if it were booked by their direct site then we could have got a lake view. Not very good customer service, doesn't make a difference in room prices but there barely wasn't any other guests as well so i don't know why it was a big problem
- Natheer (6/5): - Clean and nice hotel i think it's a bit expensive and they dont serve breakfast like other hotels !
All the restuarant around the hotel closes at 8 so be prepare
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it has a wonderful view of the lake.
It is very clean and well mantained
- Michael (8/5): Good value - Pleasantly surprised - nice room, clean and fresh
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice hotel, spotless .., lovely area to visit.. Simply require to hring uour own food as not much in the line of resturants
- Roman (8/5): Great view! - Great hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. AC units are very loud when they kick in and wake you up.
- JO (10/5): My son's grad - Very comfortable room. Incredible view. The name of the hotel suits it.
- Robert (8/5): Comfortable and beautiful setting. - Very nice rooms. Hotel is located on beautiful lake so ask for water view room. Restaurant is convenient for breakfast or dinner.
- corey (8/5): Clean and quiet - I visit weekly for work. He cleanliness and quiet of the hotel keeps me coming back. Restaurant hours are a bit weak due to lack of staff I think, but food is good.
- Norman (8/5): Best of the two hotels - This is the best of the two places to stay when in Fort St James.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff and service was good and our room was quite nice!
- REZA (8/5): Clean hotel but noisy air conditioning - The room was so clean. Overall it is more than my expectation except the noisy air conditioning. When started working, it looks like a truck is in your room. So, I reduced room temperature and it did not work for the 2nd night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice motel - Nice motel
- Claudette (8/5): - First time out in Ft. St. James. Staff were considerate and kind. Overall stay was good. A lot of loud noise early in a.m. but don't know where it was coming from.
- Husam (6/5): - Aircondition was too noisy and couldn't shut it off
- John (8/5): - It was fine, pricey for such a little town but supply and demand.
- Kraico (8/5): Updated - Updated room, comfy beds, restaurant was fine. Best in town. This is Fort St James.
- Wendy (10/5): Absolutely outstanding. I enjoyed every bit! - I can't believe the renovation.
It's precious view and class is A+
I was in walking distance of the lake and the old fort which is so incredible.
I will boast of my stay to everyone I can.
I hope to spend more time there.
Clean and comfy
The people working the front desk were warm and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had to pay for a kitchenette since no other rooms were available, making the hotel pricey, but still a decent hotel if you find yourself in Ft St James. Good breakfast and decent wifi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good for sleeping - Best place in town but was warned by locals not to eat in the restaurant
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic view, comfortable room, and helpful - Wonderful place! Helpful staff, close to everything. Beautiful view
- anthony (8/5): Updated hotel with nice view - Great View, clean and friendly.
The Town in small but the hotel has a big town feel and good amenities.
Only stayed one night so I was not able to experience everything.
The food was great and the kitchen was open until 10pm
