Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (10/5): - In some ways, I wish I had never found the Smithers Guest House, solely because it's ruined all future guest houses for me now. This place is an ace in all trades: beautifully appointed--enough decoration to feel homey, but not so much that you feel like you're living in someone's home. The best stocked kitchen--both in cookware and cooking staples (spices, coffee, condiments, etc) I've ever encountered in any guest house, bnb, or the like. Spacious and comfortable rooms, a hot tub with a view of the mountains, easily accessible parking, walkable to plenty of food options while still being a quiet area in general, and safe, code-locked doors.
I truly cannot recommend this place enough. 11/10.
- Nadja (10/5): - Great spot!
- winston (10/5): - Nice little quiet spot, right in the town of Smithers! Comfy beds and very clean bathroom and shower!
- Dave (10/5): - The visit the 2nd time was just as good the 2nd time (4 days later on our way home).
- David (10/5): - Room very clean, friendly staff, hot tub was the right temporature and kitchen area well laid out including coffee and ice cubes! Will stay there again!
- Owen (10/5): - The stay was wonderful! Very clean and comfortable stay, would book again
- Lyn (10/5): - Highly Recommended! One of the best stays on out tour of Northern/Central BC from Vancouver Island. Our small room was charming and quite perfect for two of us. It was a bonus to have the outside deck with BBQ, hot tub and great view of the mountains, plus a full kitchen and a sitting room to relax in. The common space was a great opportunity to meet other guests and enjoy a game of cards. Garrett you are an excellent and welcoming host (unfortunately we missed Wendy who was away) - so next time!
- Toresa (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- Pina (10/5): - This guesthouse felt like being in my own home. Cozy and clean with a nice common kitchen. Thanks to Wendy for being such a great host!
- Joanne (10/5): - Highly recommend!
- Marinus (10/5): - What's not to like - Will stay here again when I'm in Smithers.
- Gary (10/5): - Nice bed in room 2
- Kristopher (10/5): - This was an awesome place to stay in Smithers. The owners were very nice with great suggestions of things to do on the way to Prince Rupert. The room was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and made for a nice place to cook and have coffee. Of course the hot tub was amazing to have and we used it lots. The location is about 15 minutes from the breweries and restaurants and we enjoyed walking to everything when the weather was nice. Overall, it really made our time in Smithers fantastic. Would absolutely stay here again.
- Gordie (10/5): Great place to stay! - I was a bit hesitant booking a room at a guesthouse - but was very impressed. I met the owner Wendy when I checked in - a wonderful woman that explained how everything worked, in a very friendly and warm professional manner. The room and separate bathroom and shower room were both meticulous and had all I needed. Bed was super comfy as well!! I would certainly recommend this to anyone!!
- Michelle (10/5): - I would recommend this place, good value, nice hot tub
- Shelly (10/5): - The host was very helpful and kind. The property was very thoughtfully managed. We had a pleasant stay. the only thing to note is wifi connection was not great in our room, but if you don't mind to hang out in the living room while using the internet and enjoy the view, it is really minor.
- Celina (10/5): - Hot tub was a huge plus. Big enough for a few people and had "poolside" chairs to cool off in. Our room had an ensuite bathroom with a shower, which was really nice in a shared property. Very clean and safe feeling.
- Susan (8/5): - First time staying at a Guesthouse; thought it was a B&B.
- Matthew (10/5): - Check was easy and super friendly, everything was clean and comfortable. Great place to stay in Smithers
- Romina (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very friendly host. Room very clean. Hot tub would be nice although we didn't use it. Good location. Highly recommend it
- Holly (10/5): - Cute property. Great location ! Very helpful host.
- Debra (10/5): - Wendy and Garret welcomed into their lovely guest house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
You were able to walk into town for dinner and the setting was beautiful. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and really perfect.
- Robert (10/5): - We had a very wonderful time with Wendy and Garrett. Everything about the Guesthouse was great! The hot tub was refreshing. Wendy baked a pie for the guests.
- Jason (10/5): - They do a great job. The care shows in everything
- James (10/5): - Great and attentive hosts will stay again when passing through Smithers!
- Shawn (10/5): - I don’t often write reviews but I felt the owners deserve this. They were extremely friendly, the unique layout was new for me but I quite liked it. I would definitely recommend staying there.
- Gerda (10/5): - the location was good. The room was immaculacy clean. Nice sitting area next to the rooms with couches and TV and place to read. Coffee etc.
- Andrew (8/5): - The hot tub was a great addition
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very well!!!
- Colin (10/5): Unique and nice - Interesting set up with 4 rooms sharing a living space great for making friends
- Nelson (10/5): - Hot tub on the balcony is nice!
- gordon (8/5): - Loved the hot tub. Room was very large but the stairs was a problem for me being handicapped.
Otherwise it's a great place to stay.
- Robert (10/5): - Quiet clean, with really nice comfortable bed.
- Neil (10/5): - quiet and safe, close to amenities. thank you !
- Dawn (10/5): - Very comfortable and clean and very secure. The hot tub was an added bonus and we saved a lot of money making our own meals, as dining in town is expensive
- Lis (10/5): - Well cared for property in a great location. We were made to feel welcome and had a relaxed stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice, simple property. The bathroom and the shower stall was super small (the bed is a King) and it was tedious trying to wash hair, and shaving legs is an impossibility. I'm only 5'6", small frame, and I had a tough time. The bed was comfy, and clean, but we kept hitting our knees and feet on the humongous bed frame that sticks out in the room, only giving a small amount of room to get around. You can't wear shoes (in order to save the wood floors...), so be prepared to leave them at the bottom of the stairs when you arrive. The owners were super friendly, and accommodating. If we stayed here again, we would request a room with a larger bathroom.
- Dixie (8/5): - Common area was very nice. The room was comfortable and very clean. Bathroom was private, but not ensuite so we had to walk the length of the hallway from our room to the private bathroom. Great location. Walkable to restaurants, etc.
- Michael (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay, comfy, clean and beautiful views whilst sitting in the hot tub.
- vicki (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Nice kitchen area. did not use hot tub, but it looked really nice.
- Robin (10/5): - Great location comfortable
- Adriaan (8/5): - The room was very nice and comfortable, the well-equipped communal kitchen was a bonus (as was the unexpected home-made sweets), and Wendy was friendly and helpful. The only negative point for us was the very small shower and the weak water flow through the shower head.
- Carol (10/5): - Great Location - Nice Room - Clean - Loved hardwood floors - Friendly -
- Ian (10/5): - Nice clean room, excellent shared kitchen and living room. Great hot tub with mountain views. And the cupcakes!
- Angelo (8/5): - Friendly service and clean rooms.
- Julie (10/5): Excellent - Our room was cery comfortable and quiet, would definitely recommend. There was a fully equipped kitchen and a nice sitting area for the guests to use.
Our room had a very small bathroom which was good, but some rooms did not have ensuites
- Bob (8/5): - Didn’t like the bathroom so far from our room. Was very clean but not what I was expecting.
I’ll read the ad better next time.
- James (10/5): - Awesome
- Venessa (10/5): - What a beautiful little spot. I will recommend this one to anyone that will listen!
- Raymond (8/5): - Nice, comfy family operation. Tasteful private rooms with bathrooms. Also, comfortable, clean equipped shared area with hot tub.
- Lee (10/5): - Easy, clean and homey
- Mariah (10/5): - Favourite place to stay in Smithers. In a nice, quiet area in town, but walking distance to the downtown core. Comfy and cozy!
- Monica (10/5): - Friendly, tidy and welcoming!
- Fred (10/5): - Great place clean and great owners!
- Cary (10/5): - Awesome place to stay, been there twice and will definitely go again
- Aren (10/5): - Quite room with hot tub and shared kitchen facilities.
Free cupcakes from the hostess.
- John (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay
- Peter (10/5): - Great spot, nice view from the deck and hot tub. Lots of room in the communal space. Lock for front door can be tricky.
- Rob (10/5): - nice
- Kimberly (10/5): - Such a gem of a place, would highly recommend. Check in was super easy, place is well laid out. I wish I booked another night! Was so calm & peaceful.
- ARTHUR (10/5): - Owner was very helpful at check in. Wanted to make sure we had everything we needed.
- William (10/5): Worth a look - I only stayed one night, but it was really nice. I’d stay again if in the area.
- Stephen (10/5): - Smithers Guesthouse rates a "good" because of the cleanliness, responsiveness of staff and so on. What makes it an "excellent" is the unusual delights that are rarely found elsewhere. Use of kitchen and living room more than makes up for a small room and the deck in the morning was a wonderful treat. Recommended !
- Karryle (8/5): - The only thing I suggest is to add some type of foot wear or footwear covering. Not every has the luxury of walking without shoes.
- Mario (10/5): - Great place to stay friendly staff, excellent cleanliness, for a reasonable price.
- Pablo (10/5): - Home away from home. Bring your slippers!
- Ronald (10/5): - Super clean quiet close to everything
- Eileen (8/5): - Beautiful house. Friendly owner.
20 -30 minute walk to downtown.

- Garnet (10/5): - It was really nice, private and simple, small business, nice family.
- Brian (10/5): - Excellence amenities, location, and service! Will be highly recommending this place to others.
- Cindy (8/5): - The owners really nice. room was very clean. But didn't appreciate the chainsaw and the trimming of the trees outside of our window. We had a 10 hour drive. And were resting. When the noise started at 7:30 pm. But nice room.
- Andrew D (10/5): Put on the kettle and make some tea. Smithers - Lovely clean accommodation with well stocked shared kitchen.
Fantastic views from the outside area and hot tub
Bruce and Wendy were very friendly and helpful as were the other guests we met
- Roger (8/5): - It was great .Nice people
- Gordon (8/5): - Very clean and quiet
- Lai Man (10/5): Perfect stay - The place is flawless. Very clean, very comfortable. Would stay there over a hotel any time.
- Tomi (10/5): - Great, clean room with a very comfortable common area. The staff was friendly and helpful. Very pleasant experience overall.
- gary (10/5): - Everything
- Dallas (10/5): - Never stayed in a Guest House before so it was an experience.
The room was great, King bed and with a private shower and toilet.
There was a hot tub up stairs we didn't use but if we go again we will.
Facilities for the guest were good, kitchen and tv room.
Everything was positive
Outside it didn't look much but nice people and well kept inside.
If we go to Smithers again we will definately be using this place
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - We just stay for a night and that is okay. The walls are not soundproof. No tv in room. One troublesome is the washroom and shower room are separated.
- Xiu Yun (10/5): - Very convenient location, the owner is very nice and helpful, we will come back again. Thanks for the hosting.
- Dorilyn (10/5): - Smithers Guesthouse has a relaxed and easygoing vibe. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. Not a fancy place but very clean and safe
- Randle (8/5): - Very clean. Extremely friendly
- Carrie (10/5): - The hot tub was awesome! We also enjoyed the private bathroom with dual sinks. Everything was spotless and quiet. Late checkin was handled with no fuss, thank you!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was met and checked-in by Wendy who was fast, friendly and helpful. The floors in the bathrooms, hall, common area and bedroom were gleaming and absolutely spotless. Seriously, I’d eat off them! However, I didn’t have to as Wendy made a great dinner suggestion — Alpenhorn, within easy walking distance. My only complaint was that the wooden framed twin beds in my room squeaked so loudly I was afraid I’d wake other guests when I rolled over. All things considered, it was very good value for the money and I’d stay again in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay in Smithers, cozy and very very clean. Way more interesting, cozy and fun than those souless hotels on the way. Will definitely come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet residential area but within a short walking distance to downtown and all amenities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Host and hostess were very accomadating and even gave up thier parking so we could park our bikes undercover.

- Noemie (10/5): - The Smithers Guesthouse was amazing: incredible host, great amenities, comfortable and clean rooms. I would recommend this stay to everyone.
- Cindy (10/5): - Lovely place to stay. Sparkling clean, super relaxing and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is in beautiful shape except for the shower in room 2 is barley big enough to fit a full size person in. Other than that its a very nice place to sleep.
- RichardC (10/5): - The owners of this guesthouse are really nice. Location is convenient as it takes about 10 mins to walk to downtown and restaurants. The rooms do not have tv's in them, but there is a large one in the spacious living area. After doing 3 hikes, it was really relaxing to soak in their hot tub with a pretty awesome view of the mountains.
- Chia Wei (10/5): - The staff is very friendly. The room, washroom and kitchen are very clean. The location is also perfect , only 10mins walk to downtown.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Passing through Smithers - Easy check- in, friendly explanations on food and bar options nearby, and a good location!

- dave (10/5): - The guesthouse is comfortable, very clean and excellent value for money.
- Trish (10/5): Awesome Place! - I had a great stay and would definitely come again!
