This hotel reminded me of traveling as a child, complete with the magic fingers massage and old school corded phones. Such a wonderful experience for my techy kids to see this simpler way of life. Of course, they have wi-fi, but it was fun to see how we used to do things! So close to the water and overall a great time! This is NOT the fault of the hotel in any way, but someone was staying at the hotel with a terrible cough and we did not sleep. Again, nothing that the hotel could have done. Just wondering why someone stayed at hotel when they obviously so sick?

The staff were accepted, exceptionally kind, and courteous. The bed was very comfortable. The room was well decorated in a bit of a nostalgic style that could be considered outdated or flowery, but it was well done and tasteful. C’était parfaitement propre. L’équipe était très accueillant et courtois. Le lit très confortable. La chambre était décoré dans une style nostalgique qui peut être considéré kitsch, mais très bien fait et avec du goût.

• Michael (10/5): Inexpensive yet friendly, safe, quiet and comfy bed with the perfect location - The location was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and I have had 2 back surgeries. The staff was so friendly!! It is just a small little hotel but the room was sufficient and I appreciated that it had a shower instead of a tub. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And it was very quiet. Nothing that was off putting to me.

I even tried out the Magic Fingers massage (still only 25 cents). I loved the location, and I look forward to returning. Everything was great.

It' a very comfortable, clean and centrally located motel in a safe location. Lot's of avenues for entertainment once the sun goes down in walkable distances.

• Linda (10/5): Very pleasant place to stay a few nights. I will be back. - It's a very well maintained old fashioned motor court style motel. The rooms are all decorated a bit differently and reflect the owners love of gardens and flowers. Everything is super clean and everything was in working order. Bed with comfortable and towels were thick and plush. Owner managed and customer service and friendliness is top notch. Lovely landscaping and clean clean clean.

• Gail (9/5): - Cozy decor and a sunny room - not the standard bland usually found in most hotels. Liked the linoleum rather than a rug. The bed was comfortable. It's close to multiple restaurants and beaches, which was my purpose for visiting Morro Bay. It's nice the town has not grown much since my college days at Cal Poly, Wish there was a washer and dryer available.

• Jeffrey (10/5): Have a great Sundown Inn sunset, slumber and sunrise by Morro Rock! - On my first stay 30 years ago, I was very comfortable and relaxed. Sundown Inn is exactly how Morro Bay feels. Cozy, friendly and down to earth. I try to stay here, every year, traveling the California coast. Sundown is centrally located, close to Morro Bay Drive, the heart of restaurants and shops and the supermarket is well stocked. Sundown is very close to the Embarcadero with classic waterfront dining, more shopping and the Rock. In 2025, Sundown has brighten all the rooms for efficiency and even, more comfort. In room, both AC and heating work well. They do have extra blankets and backup heaters! Close to the bay, it does get cool at night. Every room is cozy and quiet. Sleeping here is bliss! Parking is very convenient. In the very clean rooms, plenty of space for your stuff, ie closet with suitcase stand, you can seat by the window, for eating and coffee with handy coffee maker and mini frig, and nice new big TV. The newly tiled shower is spacious with fast hot water and good water pressure. Towels are big and thick. The staff is always very courteous and helpful. Not being able to have longer stays!

Spotlessly clean, friendly onsite owners who even helped my celebrate my birthday! If you’re looking for a place that’s authentically local this will be right for you.

• Brittany (10/5): - This charming property is family owned, quaint, clean. The owners take great care of this hotel and it's guests. Sundown Inn's location is convenient to many restaurants, bars, and shops. It is also close to the bay, ocean, and local beaches. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Morro Bay.

• Francesca (10/5): - Cutest little motel. Dated but in a cute way. SUPER clean (coming from someone who gets grossed out easily at hotels). The linens smelled fresh and there was no dust. We are sensitive to pet dander and dust so I always worry but we had zero issues. The bed had an old-fashioned “magic fingers” vibration mechanism that our 7yo got a kick out of. The place was quiet and charming and super close to everything. We didn’t use our car once to walk around downtown. We will definitely stay here again.

We were able to bring our bikes inside. It was walking distance to Morro Rock, the Embarcadero, and Scout Coffee. The management was so friendly and eager to help us have a wonderful stay.
