Guest Reviews
- Marko (10/5): - These property is in the middle of a lagoon and you can only access by boat (like alll tortuguero) it has an amazing forest with lots of animals, we saw monkey birds etc.
The room is confortable it has all you need
- Vladimir (10/5): - Great place to stay ! Amazing people
- Ian (10/5): - Pachira Lodge was a great place to stay to explore the Tortuguero area. The lodges were surrounded by the forest with plenty of animal spotting.
The buffet style restaurant let the property down with food on repeat at lunch and dinner and for the 3 nights of our stay.
- Randall (10/5): - Beautiful property. Great food. Friendly staff.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Hotel is located in a secluded area, surrounded by nature and water, a beautiful landscape.
Room was spacious , no air conditioning but with a ceiling fan that was helpful at night. We like the Pool area with the monkeys jumping around
- Eran (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful, rooms are good and clean
Well located, arrival is easy and activities are close by
The hotel area is great, full of nature and trails
Food was very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wilderness atmosphere, recommend this to everyone - The Hotel was like a cabin lodge experience. It was immersed into the nature, the pool was great, staff was so friendly. The nature awakening tour was great as well. The village is a quick 5 min boat ride.
- Barbara (10/5): - This was a beautiful, relaxing piece of heaven carved out of the rainforest. Everyone was amazing, helpful, and kind.
- Ezilda (6/5): - The property is nice and lots of trees and birds chirping in the morning. There is no AC, only fans so a bit uncomfortable. Atmosphere was serene. Had to access the main town only by boat.
- tara (10/5): - Beautiful
- Lorena Perez (10/5): - Muy bien cuidada .
- Jesus (10/5): - Such a beautiful place in the middle of nature. I loved their pool and food was amazing (we got the “full board” option for all of our meals paid for and it was definitely worth it, buffet style, delicious). Staff were incredible, kind and always helpful!
Clean rooms - with all you need. Since you are in the middle of the forest, you get awaken by howler monkeys and birds, which I loved - being right inside the forest. Fan helped keep it nice and fresh at night, exactly what we needed!
Perfecto location for us … in front of the town, 5 min by boat! Very private, and yet close to town!
I would definitely stay here again!! Thank you!
- Mark (10/5): - We were upgraded to a bungalow which looked great and was extremely spacious. We felt like we were staying in the middle of the jungle. Pool area was lovely with loads of wildlife. Only downside was that the shower lacked any power.
- Corinne (10/5): - This is a beautiful property! We felt so peaceful and really enjoyed the beautiful pool. One thing to note is that you need to have cash to take a water taxi from the main island to the hotel!
- Francesco (8/5): - .
- Greisy (6/5): - Very nice place, located in a piece of Heaven. Keep in mind that it is not connected by land to the town so, you are forced to pay for boat rides. It is a lovely place. (Too expensive for the service they provide, I think)
- Jose (10/5): - Everything great!!!
- Omar (10/5): - .
- Natesh (6/5): - Although its located in a jungle, these are cabins. Windows does not have doors just a mesh, so if you are a light sleeper it gets really noisy. Receptionists not friendly
- Beryl (6/5): - We were not provided with information about arrival arrangements or tours even though I had emailed the property about the latter. We were told that the last boat to the property was at 4 or 4.30pm. In fact this was for the public taxi boat and we weren't informed that we could take a private boat if we arrived late. It was all very confusing and stressful.
The property itself is beautiful with lots of animals to watch but the food is not good and we were placed at poorly placed tables and were told where to sit with little option to change places. The rooms are close together so we can hear other guests in their rooms and using the facilities. I had to ask the staff twice to change my sheets and pillows as the former was not clean and the latter smelled bad. They did eventually change them. Also the pool towel was stained do I had to ask to change that also.
The reception staff were generally nice but didn't have a lot of information which we needed.
We had good guides for the excursions organised by Pachira Lodge.
- Kristina (6/5): Jungle lodge, basic but nice pool - We stayed here for three nights. Enjoyed ourselves. Standout points:
- great pool from which we spotted toucans, spider monkeys, and a variety of other wildlife
- paper thin walls in the rooms (could hear our neighbours speaking at a normal volume)
- bat and a cockroach both found their way into our room, but we’re in the jungle so… to be expected?
- front desk was - sometimes - staffed - and sometimes not
- not much to do around the property (and by that, I mean nothing, except for the pool and a small walking trail). Once you’re here, you’re stuck unless you’re taking a water taxi off the property ($5 per person each way into town)
- amazing wildlife everywhere. Crabs burrowing in holes, iguanas and green basilisks, the jungle soundtrack is truly outstanding
- eco friendly - no A/C, TVs or fridges in the rooms- basic, but you’re in the jungle. Enjoy the jungle!
- meal times felt like summer camp (food was basic); wish they had coffee in the room or coffee provided throughout the day in a localized spot
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
- Eileen (10/5): - Pachira Lodge is remarkable. The 1 hr boat ride into Tortugero alone was amazing. The property is located in front of the main lagoon, about 5 minutes by boat from the National Tortuguero Park and 3 minutes from the quaint little Village of Tortuguero. The bungalow rooms are perfectly nestled in the middle of the jungle on raised platforms connected by raised walkways. We loved that our room didn’t have a TV. We loved our windows only had screens so we could hear the rain at night, and the monkeys and birds in the morning. Howler monkeys walked across our roof, and often played overhead. Our room had two full-sized beds and the room was modern, sleek and very clean. The bathroom was lovely. The room set up and property itself exceeded our expectations. Everything on the property is extremely well-maintained and you can see the effort put into the daily management of the lodge. We were welcomed by remarkable staff who explained everything about the property, food and amenities, and were just so accommodating and friendly. WiFi coverage was very good, which we didn't expect. The property has a seperate 1km jungle path which was absolutely beautiful and packed with wildlife. We spent one summer-like afternoon at the turtle shaped pool. We were in Arenal Hot Springs right before so thought the only thing missing at the pool area was a warm-water jacuzzi. The pool bar has awesome drinks and it feels magical to be there. We will definitely be returning to Pachira!
- Lynn (8/5): - Enjoyable stay. We felt that complementary tea/coffee making facilities in the room is necessary. Most other hotels we have stayed in, in Costa-rica, provide this.
- JOSE (8/5): Mask Optional / Covid Risk - Guest - Mask is not mandatory. They need to ask guest to wear mask in public areas and buffet time!!
- Iain (6/5): - Lovely to be out in nature and all the staff were great.
Unfortunately there was renovations going on right next to the pool during the day which really destroyed the relaxation.
I would be very careful booking this hotel through hotels.com as I did as nothing was communicated to us - apparently our transfers were included as well as it being full board but we ended up paying our own transfers anyway as we were not told this until the hotel contacted us a day before we were going there.
We were also told that we booked through Expedia which was news to us so obviously this was done by hotels .com - all in all a very odd situation
Magnifique moment !
- Yolanta (8/5): A treasure in the middle of the rain forest - Pachira Lodge is on a canal, on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. A rustic lodge, with great food. The room could have been a bit more comfortable, but all in all a great experience. Wonderful staff, very knowledgeable guides. You have the feeling that you are in the middle of the jungle. Lovely pool area and beautiful garden and pathways to the bungalows.
Highly recommended.
- Carlos (10/5): Excellent - Excellent concentration on detail and the service staff was very helpful and attentive. Food was great and the accomodations were kept very clean and comfortable. Transportation to and from the hotel was also commendable and on time.
- Marveeny (10/5): Amazing Location - I stayed here with my teenage children as part of a Caravan tour. Our 2 bed bungalow was nestled into the jungle on raised platforms connected by raised walkways, to minimize impact to the forest. The room itself was average, but we did not spend much time in it. Howler monkeys walked across our roof, and often played overhead. My daughters had problems with mosquitos in their room, but I did not. Their were sloths, howler and spider monkeys and many bird varieties. The wildlife alone is worth the trip. We spent an amazing afternoon at the turtle shaped pool, watching an entire family of spider monkeys frolicking in the landscaping and occasionally drinking from the pool/waterfall. I would definitely return. It would be a very romantic location without kids...
