Handy location and their evening meal menu looks great. I checked in at approx 19.15, and came down hoping for dinner at 19.45, but was told that service had finished. Would have been useful to have been told that at check-in. Never mind - will know for next time.

- Dennis (10/5): Memorable for all the right reasons - The hotel was spotless throughout. Our bedroom was very light and airy and the beds very comfortable. All the staff were very polite and extremely helpful. All meals were plentiful and delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The hotel is also close to the centre so a little walk and you’re right next to the restaurantss etc. The shower pressure wasn’t that good so pretty hard to get showered appropriately. Bacon was a bit cooked through which made it tough in the morning but i’m picking.

- Liz (3/5): Not impressed and certainly won’t return. Overall feeling was that it was understaffed and struggling to manage. - Location was handy for town centre. Staff friendly. Room was ok but bit shabby in areas. Toilet was poor. Window in bathroom was green with algae, toilet bowl was very unstable, flush was poor and high step into toilet was very tricky. Food in hotel was pub food but on the whole reasonable but on our 4th night a notice was posted on front door saying that no food would be available that evening due to having no chef. This was evident as food on last 2 mornings was not great. Some ingredients of breakfast missing but could have been sourced easily by staff.

The room was very comforatble, a lot of thought had gone into choosing the decor and furnishings, well-chosen period pieces of furniture, in a style that was comfortable but not over-fussy. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen. Good breakfast choices and tasty evening meals.

Friendly helpful staff, A lovely King room at a good price, with lots of natural light from big windows ( with shutters) and large bathroom . Handy to have the bar downstairs, and breakfast was 5 star with plenty of choice !

- Marion (8/5): Ideal location, lovely staff and perfect breakfast in the Artists' Town - Perfect location to explore Kirkcudbright harbour and surrounding coastal paths. I brought my bike so this was an ideal starting point to discover the town and the local walks, and beaches. Had a most wonderful breakfast which kept me full for the whole day! Haggis was involved and it was delicious. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. I would return just for the breakfast ! Not much to report, I stayed one night at the top of the hotel - lovely single room, just perfect. My only tiny problem was that the en-suite air vent appears to be on all the time, but I brought my ear plugs so no big deal.

- Lorraine (8/5): - Central to everything. Room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we missed breakfast on the last morning. There was no welcome pack in our room and we had to ask for WiFi password. One of the staff then advised that bfast was served later on a Sunday morning at 9.00am instead of 8 but this was wrong information as bfast is served at 8 am every morning.

- Mavis (8/5): One night stay - A very pleasant stay. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Only negative was shower performance was poor. We found the duvet a bit heavy for summer but that's our personal preference. Evening meal was very nice and reasonably priced.
