- C (10/5): Very pleasant staff, I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely return. - Close to all Amenities. Everything you need is a short walk. This is an older building. It’s comfortable and clean. It’s not a 5 star but it’s remarkably affordable
- Lutz (7/5): - Air conditioner
- Manjinder (2/5): - Really bad old blankets ripped and burned ac was not working at all i let the front desk know about ac but he said he can’t do anything
- Desiree (4/5): Don't recommend. - Couldn't watch t.v. Connection wasn't working. Plumbing outdated. Carpet dirty. Our sheets came off during the night and the mattress cover/fitted sheet was full of stains. It was gross!
- Pawar (5/5): - The rooms were great, the only issue was the smell of smoke.
- Michael (4/5): - The room was dirty. Found a chicken bone on the floor under the air conditioner. Bathroom and tub/shower were disgusting. Broken shower head that dangled, filthy tub, used mini soap bar in soap caddy in shower. Badly worn furniture, missing light bulbs in room. Bed cover was dirty. Plastic ice bucket in room has no liner and was dirty inside. Gross room.
- Joe (2/5): - Not the greatest hotel the only best part of it is the whole the bar
- Marco (8/5): - It was cheap for me.
They do not have shampoo in the washroom
At night is a little noisy because of the casino, but it was not a big issue for me.
- Angela (10/5): - Love being here. Beds are so comfortable
- Jenn (8/5): - Very quiet nice basic room
- Muzaffar (2/5): Very dirty rooms - They have rented me most dirty room
I asked manager to chane bedding
Bath tub was dirty black stained very old building
- Trevor (10/5): - Great
- Albert (2/5): - Smoking room stinks, no heat
- Trevor (10/5): - It was absolutely 💯
- Harmandeep (2/5): - They have bed bugs in their rooms. It was horrible stay for 4 nights. Flush was not properly working and they have yellow lights and noisy bar which might affect your sleep at night. However, cheapest hotel in town and close to many shops which is a good things.
- NADINE (8/5): - Fine for price. Quick simple stop
- Joseph (4/5): - Had someone try to break into my car and had no hot water on my last day
- Katherine (10/5): - I love this hotel, but I had a room for two and the second person would be arriving late, I let the day staff know, but he had come later in the night and the day staff did not let the night staff know that a guest would be arriving late. The man at the front desk thought my boyfriend wanted to rent a room, my boyfriend was telling him he was arriving late, the man did not understand and so my boyfriend went outside to call me, the man followed my boyfriend to the door and locked the door behind my boyfriend, after I had come down and retold the man that he was with me and that he was arriving late and that I had told the day staff about this, he let my boyfriend in and needed my boyfriend's ID and his signature, after my boyfriend and I returned to our room.
- Angela (6/5): - I have stayed here many times but this time there was an issue with heat. Heat wasn’t working and room was so cold.
- Isabel (2/5): - The rooms are dirty and the bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were distracting and I am sure they had bed bugs.
- Bikramjit (10/5): - Great.
- shafqat (6/5): - There were bedbugs which kept me awake the entire night. No blanket and no comforter on a night when the temperature was around 6 . I had a terrible night
- Katherine (10/5): - stayed in room eight was good and liked the place
- Jeffrey (4/5): - The rooms were terrible. Dirty, the bed very uncomfortable and smelled. Ended sleeping on top of covers. The towels were white but had yellow stains in them. One had a big black mark on it. The tub was old and worn looked dirty! The furniture was old and tattered. I won’t be staying there again or recommending it to anyone.
- Ron (4/5): - Room 6. We got the horrible surprise of bedbugs, on the last day of our stay. Disgusting. The room and furniture was badly dated, the bedding was worn. Lightbulbs and electrical covers were missing. We were not expecting much, but got well below what it was worth. Yup, well fed bedbug on our last night. Doing everything we can to try and keep them from showing up at home now.
- Maggie (6/5): - It's clean except for the suspicious crusty bit on the sheet. Interesting 1950s feel. No lid on the toilet. Nothing has been updated since 1950. It was nice to have a decent breakfast. All the rooms are smoking I am a non smoker.
- Angela (10/5): - Have always enjoyed staying The Curtis
- Glenn (6/5): - I liked that I was able to bring my dog with me without any hassle or extra charges. I did not like that there is no escape from the noise into the wee hours from the bar on the lower level. Given that this is an older style of hotel, its age shows. Amenities are few, furniture and features are dated. But it provided a place to sleep and eat in the morning. Overall, I'm grateful.
- John (2/5): - You get what you pay for. The A/C unit wasn't properly attached to the wall and did not work. There was no hot water when I took a bath this morning. One of the chairs in my unit had stains all over it. I could hear people talking in the bar downstairs. I won't be staying here again and recommend that others don't either.
- Martin (8/5): - nice staff
- ROBERT (10/5): - Room is old but everything are right. Clean. Good for short stay. Will stay there for my next trip.
- Sharon (10/5): - I was nice and quiet
- jasdeep s. (4/5): - Night club inside the restaurant is very noisy till 2 am , unable to sleep. Rooms need good and nice blankets. Secondly, needs more improvement in customer service front desk.
- Jake (2/5): - I showed up after booking this room and they didn’t have a room for me. Even though I already had a confirmation that the room was mine.
I had to go down the street and stay with a different hotel.
- Angela (10/5): - Love the area and room was comfortable
- Jocelyn (8/5): - Staff is welcoming and helpful.
- Heather (6/5): - Not bad for the price point, and the deposit is reasonable. Bed was comfortable but super noisy when shifting to get more comfortable. Room was VERY small, no microwave. Walls are super thin. Not fantastic but definitely not terrible for a last minute reservation.
- Angela (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Lonnie (6/5): Stay only if you have to - Budget friendly hotel, but stay only if you have to. The one good thing about this place was no pet deposit, but the bed was top small for two people, smelled horrible, lamp shade has stains on it, you could hear the bar from your room, and bright lights coming into the room.
- Surinder (2/5): - Dirty room
- Nicholas (6/5): - The peoperty was nice and clean the draft house is unuiqe wich most motors dont have staff is very friendly too dispiet some of the plumbing issues
- Darcy (8/5): Good - Fine place to stay
- Robert (2/5): - Who is rating these experiences? Go and look at the room before you take it. We had no thermostat and the old heating rad was cold. There was a 1/2" gap all around the window that blew in cold air, pot fumes and very loud street noise all night. No coffee or fridge in room. No deadbolt on door. The tub is scary. Was worried about my vehicle in parking lot all night. The bathroom door did not close. My wife would not sleep in the scary bed.
- Prayas (8/5): - Good
- Gurmeet (10/5): - Very good
- Julia (8/5): - Very outdated but that’s reflected in the price so it’s nice that it was a cheaper option
- Fuck That, (10/5): - Let me begin by stating this place isn’t for everyone.
If you are the type who needs ultra-modern decor, updated rooms, and lots of amenities, then this is not the place for you.
If you’re also the type who starts complaining at the first sight of dirt in a corner, or whiff of cigarette smoke, then you’re not going to enjoy your stay here one bit.
However, if you’re the kind of person who likes to reminisce about the summer road trips your parents took you on during your childhood, and the motor inns of the ‘70s and ‘80s, this place might just be for you.
The property is a perfectly preserved time capsule of that era. The hallways, bathrooms, and lobby definitely whisked me back to a much simpler time in my life.
The hotel itself is in very good condition, and nothing I would call run-down. It’s old. It’s dated. But not at all in bad shape.
Cleanliness-wise, I’d say it’s a bit below average, but not gross or disgusting. It was certainly clean enough for me.
The air conditioner in room we had worked great, as did the tv, and shower. The building was quiet, and we couldn’t hear the bar, even though it seemed busy.
The staff was fantastic, friendly and committed to ensuring we enjoyed our time there. I have no problem giving the Curtis Gordon motor Hotel my enthusiastic recommendation!
- Norma (10/5): - Front desk staff very nice
- FU (6/5): - The motel is for someone love to go to the casino inside the same building. We have a long driving in the past two days. This hotel is not for us.
- Norma (10/5): - Person at front desk very nice
- kishan (8/5): - Quite old-fashioned building but worth the money with all amenities within walkable distance.
- Sofiene (8/5): - Nice place good stuff
- Seleba (10/5): - It’s a quiet place and the staff are very friendly 👍
- Benedict (2/5): - 78$ for just booking and I pay again for 178$ for room. Yet the room is so smelly like cigarettes. The heater has no adjustment. The room 10 is to hard to open with key seems need a hammer.
- Anas (2/5): - The property was in bad condition. The wifi didn't work, the bed wasn't made, the bins were already fun. Bathroom looked like someone used it before me.
- Julio (6/5): - .
- Dan (8/5): - The price was hard to beat. Bed was comfortable but the smell of cigarette smoke and cigarette burns on the blankets were a little off-putting. The water pressure of the shower was amazing.
- Babs Mwisha (6/5): - Customer care was good!
- Norm (10/5): - Great breakfast
- Kyle (10/5): - It was good
- Katherine (4/5): - Room was not as shown on website. Very small, worn and outdated.
- Jacquelyn (6/5): - Room quite dirty, stuff left under the bed, behind the RV stand, window broken, smacked myself in the head trying to open it when it fell out of the track, room very very hot. A bit of hair in the bed. Ok by myself to have a quick sleep & leave. Location was good, felt safe in the area, easy to find.
- Shirley (8/5): - It is definitely dated but the rooms are very clean and don’t smell like smoke! I was surprised that you were allowed to smoke in the rooms but I did not smell smoke at all. I stayed there because I had a puppy and needed a pet friendly hotel. Overall my experience was great! Super friendly staff and adorable despite the dated conditions.
I would stay here again.
- coles736 (2/5): Non-Existent Customer Service - A snowstorm caused me to look for a room for the night. I drove 6 hours.
When I asked the front desk guy for a room, he mumbled and fidgeted, and I asked again if he had rooms. He said ya, but I've got to book online. I said "You're right there, and I'm right here." I then said, if I use my phone now, I could just book on Expedia and that would be fine? He said yes.
Of course I booked a different hotel.
Later I tried to call the head office, and could only get the other hotel they own, the Assiniboine. They said you don't need to book online there, but had no idea of the Curtis's policy.
So I went to their Facebook page and asked how to book a room. They said to call. So they will reserve a room if I call, or book online, but not in person? So I asked what their policy was. No second reply after 5 hours. I also sent an email message to "Contact Us" and after 6 hours, still no reply.
Keep this in mind if you ever have an issue, good luck trying to find anyone that can help or resolve a conflict.
- Gordon (6/5): - It’s not a nice place, but not awful either. Good price. No issues.
- Brent (8/5): - Lacks 3 prong ( saftey outlets in the room) can't charge a laptop. Still has all crt tvs in the rooms. Staff friendly. Place is clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It’s noisy and the temperature in the room is too high to sleep!
- Elizabeth (2/5): Worsted stay ever - The stay was horrible we only stay two hours after being in a car for two days. The room was gross had to put down a towel to sit on the chair no flat screen ac didnt work bathroom was gross looked like it had not been cleaning in years there was also a hand towel taped to the smoke detector. Bugs it was gross, the water was brown the pictures on the website are lies
- Moyra (4/5): - Outdated so no handsfree doors or elevator. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I was given a complimentary breakfast because the fridge needed replacing and the air-conditioner didn't work well. And a staff also helped me lug my cat carrier up stairs.
- Trevor (8/5): - nice stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Every thingxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxzzzzzzzzzzzxxxxzxxxxxxxxz
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No television or garbage cans in basement.
Guests were friendly
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is a dump in every sense! We did not stay!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The front desk was rude and took forever for the room. The building smell like cigarettes and the room are nasty the carpet was filthy and the bathroom too the bed were not comfortable at all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice pub. Pretty good dancer's!!! Hospitality is awesome 😍
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room I had l does not look anything like the photo you you showed above the title of the Curtis Gordon.
The TV was a very old - and had a very small screen.
- jamesgS9637MB (2/5): So bad, the good reviews are lies - When I checked in, it looked ok but I he bathtub was filth. I swear the girl in the next room was paying and charging by the hour. Not worth the 70.00 per night. I gave them 1 star because I couldn't go any less.
- Tim (6/5): - Property was close/convenient. Clean. Quiet.
However room was too hot/TV didn't work
Staff unable to reimburse at check out
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice hotel for its price. The guy who works at night was very friendly an nice. I arrived at night, and was very tired, and he got my situation and did everything very fast. Thank you again, dont remember the name, night stuff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Private and comfortable for a good price. Will stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great people Manager Jermay was super awesome staff was great. Managers like Jermay are the reason why companies have retuning customers.
- Anonymous (4/5): - Most of the staff were very friendly. The mattress had a huge dip in it and the blanket had a whole in it. It was -30 out one night and the heat wasn’t working properly. My room was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I was in a coat. Thankfully they gave me a free night after I mentioned it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff are very friendly, meals are good and the rates are very reasonable as well as only 20 min from downtown
- Tess (2/5): - This property was not a three star hotel. It was hot, it took one day with window open and hot water heat turned off to make it an acceptable temperature. There were no amenities - no clock radio with alarm, no hair dryer, no shampoo or conditioner. There was no chain on the door.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Was told that there was a cot for the room and there wasnt.Room was so hot you couldnt sleep noisy and stunk like smoke. Will never go there again
- Dana (10/5): - A great stay just wish there was a microwave in room as great to have a grocery store beside me
- Dana (10/5): - It was great too bad there was no microwave oven with stores close by
- ontgoMN (2/5): So bad but cheap - If you want to save money this motor inn is a vintage value. The restaurant attached has a very good breakfast which my boyfriend and I got for free as we gad no cold water only super hot water in our room and had to use the bathroom sink for a morning bird bath. The bed was small and uncomfortable. The vintage building I loved and the staff is great. They gave us a great bar with food down the road recommended . The neighborhood I thought just regular working class my boyfriend felt unsafe. There is easy parking and lots of it though and place easy to find. If you need a budget place and not in a picky mood or looking for luxury this is your stay. I think I would stay again because I liked the staff, the location and the restaurant attached. And its cheap. But definitely not one of my best hotel experiences. I don’t think my boyfriend would ever stay there again and is still mad at me for booking this place.
- Howard (2/5): STAY AWAY - Room had a disgusting odour. Everything was old and worn down. Bathtub was gross. Water temp almost impossible to adjust. A/C very noisy. Window not able to open. Noise from street, and the bar downstairs horrible. TV old and barely working. No coffee maker. No microwave. No toiletries. Nothing. For the price, I'd expect it. I definitely do not recommend anyone staying here. Worst hotel stay I've had in years.
- Lauri (6/5): - No frills but it was adequate to have a place to sleep.
- danar894 (6/5): Loud, from air conditioner to other guests - Noise, yes there is a lot of noise at this location. So if you are looking for quite, search on. Older hotel, which could use a renovation. Most of the staff very good, however there is that one who rolls their eyes at every little thing... Cheap and close to where I needed to go. Please note there is NO cleaning of the room!
- Mcryderman (10/5): $1.25 beers Tuesday - $5 pound wings Tuesday , great for jets games, staff are friendly, deals on the daily, dancers every hour Friday and karaoke as long as live music here as well. Vendors always stocked and has a convenient drive up spot in front of the door.
- ryanmS1325ES (4/5): Not the worst but nowhere near the best. - We decided to stay at the Curtis Gordon for a night while passing through Winnipeg. We chose it because the reviews seem fair, it was kinda cheap and there was a pub attached, though we didn't end up going for a drink.
We checked in easily and had to put down a $100 deposit instead of giving up credit card info (which I never like doing) which would be, and was, refunded the next day. As long as you didn't damage the room.
We were not asked if we wanted a non smoking room. Maybe it was because there was no smoking signs through out the hallway but when you entered the room there was a heavy smoke smell with an ashtray on the table. When I asked about the signs and the ashtrays I was told "you can smoke" with a wink from the clerk. I just left it at that, we have a scented candle we bring when traveling for such occasions.
All the rooms were upstairs and so our room was hot and muggy. It had an old, noisy a/c unit in the window that was blowing moteratly cold air. We ended opening the window too since it was a cool night. No coffee maker or microwave but there was a restaurant attached.
The bathroom was straight out of the 1970s. Low toilet with the seat starting to peel. The sink had two separate faucets for hot and cold but only the hot had water coming out and would shoot right on the floor if you opened it too quick. The shower had medium-low pressure and sometimes loses all hot water for a couple seconds. Orange rusty water came out when I first turned it on. I let it run for a minute and it was fine. The water didn't smell bad here either.
Overall it wasn't the worst place to stay. We read reviews of other places in the area and this one still seems better. The main issues I had were we were giving a "smoking" room and the price, I thought, was a little high for what they offered.
I dont think we'll be staying here again.
- Bubette1960 (6/5): Stopped in at the Restaurant - Went for Breakfast on Father's Day to the restaurant. The Sunrise meal was cold and wee were served one cup of coffee before our food came out. While the table next to us got served a second cup of coffee our waitress just walked right on by and ignored us. Not a great place if you want hot food and a second cup of coffee.
- brandilee59 (2/5): Skid row flop house. - This place was laughably bad. The walls of the room were flaking with paint chips the size of playing cards. The window didn't close completely and the carpet was as dirty as the runway at the local airport. The entire place smelled like an old shoe. It's other occupants (all three of them) were all month-to-month crack heads or alcoholics. We checked in and out within 2 hours and were billed for both the cost of the room and our $100 deposit for some unknown reason. We're disputing both. I'd sincerely recommend you stay on the street instead of this place.
- jocelyneb201 (4/5): If you're desperate - They need to fire whoever is doing housekeeping. The room was subpar when I walked in (there was still a quarter on my bed from who knows where). Also, they never came back to do the bed or the room. Staff was friendly but it didn't compensate for the stay.
