- Robert (9/5): Family trip japan - Nice hotel, good onsen, comfortable japaneese beds and parking just outside. All our needs taken care of
- CHIH KAI (7/5): -

- Elin (9/5): - Traveling for skiing in Furano. Great spot very convinient, only 10 min away from the slopes.
Appreciated the good space in the room and also great to take the skiboots in the hallway.
Fantastic to take the onsen in the end of the day. We’ll definitely come back. You have to travel by car. Otherwise you’ll get isolated from the city.
The hotel staff have limited english skills, and we have limited Japanese skills, sometimes
But they were very helpful, friendly and welcoming so we got through it.
- Chiyang (7/5): It’s not bad but also don’t expect too high! - The sauna is good! Just a little bit old and small for the room.

- Rosadi (8/5): Very good - This hotel is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful retreat, but its remote location can be a challenge for those without a vehicle. While taxis are an option, the limited availability and lack of public transportation can make it difficult to get around. Additionally, the center of Furano has a limited selection of dining options. On the plus side, the front desk staff are warm and welcoming, despite their limited English proficiency. However, the breakfast offerings are somewhat disappointing, with a limited selection of traditional Japanese cuisine that may not cater to diverse tastes. Overall, this hotel is ideal for those prioritizing tranquility, but may not be the best fit for those seeking a more vibrant atmosphere or convenient access to amenities.
- Cornelius (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eric (8/5): Hotel with a traditional service attitude. - To my surprise, a vegan breakfast set was available on request. Thus a good option for vegans in the area. Announce the evening beforehand.
Note, no vegan a la carte dinner options apart from fries and edamame. Could be different for the half-pension rate though - you might inquire if a dinner set menu can be made vegan. The fact that they ask/outright require you to return the key to the reception each time you leave the hotel is something I can’t understand. Not the only Japanese hotel where this seems to be the case though.
- Joey (9/5): Affordable stay that's not far from the slopes! - Good onsen, decent breakfast, affordable rooms, and only 10 minutes to the slopes!
The staff are very friendly as well!
- Kenichi (8/5): Very good -

- Uncleriver (8/5): Very good -
- Camille (6/5): Pleasant -
- Josh (8/5): Very good -
- Kar (7/5): Good -
- Tinlun (8/5): A good place to stop over one night after a long drive from Sapporo, not much expectation - Food Onsen
- Chan (9/5): Superb -
- Tawny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xin (10/5): A quiet getaway! - It is located at a quiet and peaceful area, with great onsen, both jacuzzi and outdoor onsen are available. The tatami room was also great, especially if you like the tatami and futon experience. Nil
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Danielle (10/5): Lovely place, large rooms, delicious breakfast! - The room is large and the beds are comfortable. The onsen is absolutely beautiful.
I am vegetarian and the staff were absolutely wonderful in dealing with my dietary restrictions for breakfast. I was severed a delicious tofu fish each morning instead of bacon and eggs! I was so appreciative and they truly went above and beyond.
Very happy with the service, the room and the entire stay.
- Phillip (9/5): Dated but great onsen hotel, close to skiing. - Really nice onsen and a lovely quiet location with nice views.
- Melinda (9/5): Superb - That staff were absolutely lovely and most helpful.
- Chia (8/5): Very good - Traditional Japan style dinner
- Ricky (10/5): We loved staying at Highland Furano, can’t wait to go back. - Great Japanese style Onsen-Hotel
Set in a beating forest nature spot, at the foot of mountain.
- Jm (9/5): Superb -
- Chua (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Marcus (9/5): Great place to warm up and relax in the middle of winter. - Quiet old onsen hotel. Hasn’t changed in 20 years but a real Hokkaido experience. Traditional breakfast was good.
- Jia (8/5): good - friendly staff, free parking, nice onsen, bought milk from the machine after enjoying onsen some dishes of the dinner are not so delicious(not awful just normal)
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elin (8/5): Fine - The breakfast was traditional Japenese, and it was a great way to start the day. The staff was very friendly and the view was amazing. No showers in the room. It was a little vague online.
- Weng (8/5): Good overall stay with pretty decent Onsen - Nice setting and generally friendly staff. Facilities are good and nice Onsen too Nothing to comment
- Tzu (10/5): Great staff and diners - Great location, inside the forest None
- Louise (8/5): Very good -
- Wolfe (10/5): A hotel in the mountain - A hotel in the mountain but still close to town. Onsen is good.
- Sek (7/5): Overall stay is enjoyable - Good environment to relax. Some inconvenience away from the train station
No public bus to reach
- Aron (9/5): Really nice staff - The staff was the highlight for me and my mom, the 2 girls that we met were super nice and helpfull. The food was really good When we came the flowers werent in bloom and its a bit away from any main train station
- Ho (10/5): - Check-in staff was energetic and tried her best in introducing the facility despite her limited English.
- Janet (8/5): Great experience! - The staff were very friendly. And there were a lot of signs in English. We had a breakfast every morning and it was delicious and full of Japanese flavors. It would have been nice to have an American (plus) sized robe for the bath house. I also had to ask some ladies how to put the robe on since it was not clear to me.
- Ioannis (10/5): Exceptional - Japanese style breakfast and the onsen are great
- David (10/5): Stay here to ski furano - Staff was incredible, restaurant was awesome for lunch and dinner, onson was fantastic. Breakfast was not as awesome as other meals, a bit of a commute to resort, but taxis were easy
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Free coffee within certain time.
But, no elevator for rooms at second floor.
- Shuk Yee (8/5): - Nice hotel
- S (10/5): - The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were awesome.
We were there for 2 nights and they served different dishes both nights with crab. The half board package is definitely worth it as a dinner alone cost 3500 Yen.
Onsen is a little old school. However, it was quite big (3 indoor & 1 outdoor) and relaxing with mountains view.
Overall we are very happy with our stay.
- Kenneth (8/5): Relaxing stay - Hotel several km from Furano town in the greenery of the hill. It was the perfect setting for a relaxing time in the onsen.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay Away - Stay away from this hotel, no in room bathroom, recently remodel but so dated. Their hot spring vintage, it was so uncomfortable I check out a day earlier and lost the room payment.
- Mabel (8/5): - Had a very brief stay in highland furano. Liked the place for its polite and helpful staff who are willing to try to entertain our queries despite severe language barrier. I liked the place for its seclusion and view. Be prepared for poor signal. There is no private toilet. Bathing is done in a common toilet which is reasonably clean. Breakfast is good enough for a 3 star hotel, the mashed pumpkin tempura is very good!
- Daoxun (8/5): Lovely onsen hotel suitable for family stay - Pleasant stay for family of 4. Tatami was safe enough for our infant and toddler. The onsen was great! Value for money considering we also had breakfast and dinner included!!
- Raymond (8/5): Great Onsen Hotel in Furano - Great onsen, love the outdoor onsen very much. Very traditional onsen experience. Good for traveler with own transport to travel around in Furano area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great view when lavender blossoms. Great onsen even I am not an onsen person. There is only a public bathroom with onsen.
However, don't understand why there is no internet access in this hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel although old was well maintained and the surrounding was quiet and beautiful.
Dinner was good. Would recommend.
- Tamara (8/5): Experience an onsen - This was a true Japanese experience. We loved the onsen after skiing. Most mornings the prepared special Western breakfasts for us. The staff was great. The only disadvantage was no buses to the ski area or town.
