Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Plenty of space in the cabin. Choice of amenities was excellent. Safety lock box in the cabin to keep your valuables secure.
A bit annoying to go to the reception floor and then take the lift down to go outside. Air conditioning didn't really help when it got hot in the cabin.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I lost my wallet in public bath room...and someone picked it up and returned to hotel information centre.
When I tell them I lost my wallet, they returned to me, that was a very excellent services!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it was nice to have a shared bath was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was a nice shared bath was comfortable and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- William (10/5): - Good amenities that works very well for solo travelers. Towels refreshed daily; toothbrushes provided; body wash, shampoo, facial foam provided; and self service washer dryer available for 500 yen only. You just need to bring a few clothes, wash them every 3 days or so and you're set.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay , very clean tidy and staff were excellent
- Kazu (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good, clean accommodation with very good amenities. I know a few Japanese phrases but struggled with communication & assistance as staff had basically no English (realise my knowing more Japanese would help). Could not check in even a little early but overall good. Very quiet for a pod hotel & spa was lovely.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- HarryChang (10/5): - it walking distance to major stations , located in back street from the main street, quiet and peaceful,
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good stay. But a bit far away from subway stations...bit tiring to walk everyday. Service good though!
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hot bath was a great addition to a clean and modern hotel. They also provided very comfy pjs!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The whole building is new and clean. There are plenty of amenities. Big bathtub is also good!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and good staff. Was a bit annoying having the shower in another floor but very well setup.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great friendly service. Nice relaxing bath spa. Clean supplies.
- Dennis (8/5): First Cabin Atagoyama - basic accommodation - Accommodation was okay. Rooms were clean. Amenities were good. Staff were somehow helpful. Continental breakfast was okay.
- JP (8/5): - Overall it was a great experience. The cubes are clean and cozy and provide a good night's sleep. The bathrooms and sauna are relaxing - just be aware that you'll have to shower in front of other people. Think of a gym locker room with showers and no doors. It's really not that weird, but some of my other American friends found it to be awkward. There is a private shower, but it's tiny and gets busy in the morning - so if you don't do the group showers you'll end up waiting for 45 min to take a shower.
My only complaints are the following: 1) you need to always take the elevator up to the 6th floor (reception) then down to the first floor to exit. I understand they do this because they don't want people to leave the building with key cards, but it's a pain if you're waiting on a food delivery and just want to run outside for a sec. 2) The business cabins don't have very good ventilation. The larger cabins have a space for cool air to enter from the top, but the smaller cabins do not. While they do keep the sleeping area pretty cool, once you pull down your little shade thing you'll get a bit warm.
Long story short, I'd sleep here again! It was cheap and in an OK location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel and good location - Staff can understand enough English to get by and they are very kind. Rooms are clean along with the shower/toilets. Good location too within 15 mins of Shimbashi station and many convenience stores nearby with nice restaurants. Only downside is that the dorms can be noisy at 6-8am when everyone is waking up. Perfect if you spend most of your time outside.
- Andrew (10/5): Great concept stay in Tokyo - Was a nice design concept to feel like First class travelling. The First Class cabins were spacious with enough room to move in and out and store your luggage. Great to have own lockable drawers to store your stuff. Staff were very accommodating and made the stay memorable.
It is located off the main areas but is about a 10-15 minutes walk to Shimbashi Station or a 25-30 minute walk to Ginza main shopping area. So location is fairly good.
Bathrooms are clean. Men’s only had one private shower, otherwise can use the shared showers in the spa area.
Lifts work weirdly, as you have to go up to level six before being able to go back down to lower levels.
- Emy (10/5): Great location & facilities for a short stay - Very easy to find from Shimbashi station (Asakusa line, going to/from Haneda and Narita), this capsule hotel provided a very large room with ample space to relax (bed plus extra leg or luggage room). Staff was super friendly and accommodating - the hotel will hold onto your luggage even after check out (do let them know when you will pick it up though).
The one thing I had to get used to was having only one shower for 2 floors - but then you can actually take one in the spa!
Note that there is a small Can*Do (¥100 type of store) within a maruetsu store, and a small Daiso (idem) nearby.
Even closer to the hotel, you'll be spoilt for choice in combinis. Did not try any restaurants nearby unfortunately but can confirm Nishiki market is not even 20/25 minutes away.
- Richard (10/5): easy transportation - Stayed here many times, close to many metro stations and plenty of food options. Staff is friendly and seem to work here for years.
- Linda (6/5): - Pros
Shower facilities were good - shampoo, shower foam, conditioner, hair dryer, hair curler, makeup remover, lounge set etc etc all provided
Vending machine selling snacks such as noodles and takoyaki in the lobby if you need to satisfy your late-night hunger pangs
Cons
The staff's English isn't that good, so it could be a little hard if you want to ask more questions outside of checking in and out
The hotel is not along any main road, so you will have to walk along some alleys to get to the place.
There is only one private shower room, so you will need to use the public shower area unless you don't mind waiting
- Shigeharu (6/5): Very good, but too hot - There is very good, just the air conditioner temperature sets too low, did not feel any cold ...
Another think is good, I will come back again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great choice to stay - No complaints at all given its price and location. And even not considering these two factors, the service of the hotel is good anyway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place. High ceiling.
Public baths with locker. Only one shower room.
Locker for small bag. No locker for big one, but can share on the bed or just keep it at the reception.
- Richard (10/5): Close to metro - I have stayed at this location about 7 times. It is a great place at a great location. Near Toranomon Hills, Shimbashi, and Onarimon metro stations. Also many good restaurants innthe neighborhood. I like staying at First Cabin hotels, and have stayed in Kyoto and Osaka as well. They are always close to transportation, and in interesting areas.
- Joline (10/5): Highly recommendable! - It was wonderful! So clean, lots of amenities and a really nice spa. If I ever get the chance to go back to Tokyo, I'll stay there again. Highly recommendable!
- Nat (10/5): Nice and convenient hotel - The hotel and facilities are superb and it looks really new (I have no idea if it actually is). The place is kept spotless all over and the products available for guest use (at least in female lavatories) are of awesome quality.
If you don't have a lot of luggage I would say you can even manage a long-ish stay, not just a short one.
The way they control access to different floors and lavatories, separate for men and women, makes it feel really safe and comfortable.
The only drawback I could think of is that there's not a lot around, especially at night; I could find a couple of convenience stores and one restaurant; I also didn't really ask the staff, maybe they could've pointed out some but I walked around quite a bit and couldn't find any.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was good and clean. Only thing is one of the receptionist is not very friendly and kept asking for proof I stay there despite seeing me for past few days... so that was a bit annoying.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel without smile - I have stayed in this hotel 4 times this year but the staff make you feel like is your first time, no nice to see you or thank you for coming again
- Kevin (10/5): - Interesting experience. I would highly suggest getting the first class (larger) room if possible as it provides you an area to store your luggage (otherwise you have to return your suitcase to the front desk each night). Bathroom facilities were clean and thorough.
- Jeannie (8/5): Far from stations - I went to First Cabin Namba and I loved it. This time I booked Atagoyama branch as the other First Cabin in Tokyo were out of the First Class room. On the map it shows that the hotel is in the middle of 3 different stations, but it is at least 10 mins walk in reality. Also the hotel is not located on the main street, so it could be a bit difficult to find to start with.
- Magdalena (8/5): - The place is super renovated and very clean. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The only con was other guests so did not behaved very quiet and used to repackage their suitaceses in the middle of the night. As there is no real walls all the noise carries quite some and therefore because of that it was difficult to fall asleep. Other than that super satisfied
- Joseph (8/5): It was pretty nice - Spent 3 nights. Everything was pretty good except the cabin floor made squeaky noise when walking on it.
- GM (10/5): Great capsule hotel - Great value - would stay again. Clean and functional.
- Sonya (10/5): Great, clean capsule hotel - This place is great for a capsule hotel -- clean; spacious & well-supplied bathrooms; no need to check-out daily; close to a subway station; separate female floor, and a small "onsen" as well as separate private shower option.
One has to remember that it IS a capsule hotel whose main clientele are usually overnight business travellers with not much luggage so, it is nice that they supply pyjamas, toothbrush, towels, and disposable slippers if needed. Use of space is very efficient/compact and one must climb into bed from the foot; there is only about a small suitcase width of space at the foot of the narrow single bed to "store" one's luggage. There is also a small locker in the unit, which could fit a very large purse/small knapsack at least. There is a privacy shade which pulls down, but leaves a small gap at the bottom (and one's luggage will prevent bringing it down too low anyway). Bring your own ear plugs. There is a more roomy option -- the "First-Class" capsule, which is more like a small room with floor space and a small table but these get booked up quickly.
There are a couple of convenience stores and cafe's close by, as well as some restaurants a few blocks away. It is more of a quiet area at night.
There is nowhere to prepare food but, they can store some of your food in their fridge if desired; and there is a dining/work area where one can eat.
Their website is very informative and has photos showing their rooms and facilities.
- NG (8/5): Convenient - The place was overall very good.
- Luis Pedro (10/5): Excellent room conditions, but hard bed - The room is big, with a tv on it but no english channel was available. The room has its own locker and air conditioner.
The room was clean but the bed was very hard
- Dee (10/5): Quietest dorm/capsule - Quietest dorm/capsule type setting, with strict rules about noise, including turning off cell phone ringers/alarm clocks, and wearing headphones (provided) to watch TV. Bed was quite hard but nevertheless quite comfy.
- Inez (10/5): Clean and nice shower! - In general a very nice place and building. The only thing is other people might be noisy
- Kwok Pong Bronco (10/5): Budget hotel with good service - It was more for business people who live too far and look for a place to sleep for 1 night. I stayed at the first class (bigger room) so I had some space for my suitcase. The aircon was a bit weak and it felt kind of humid. The hotel staff was super helpful. They tried to help me book a restaurant (though it turned out to be closed for the week), and they also helped me call the airline as I overslept on the day of departure, so thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent, affordable stay - Fantastic staff, clean and quiet rooms. Was able to store luggage before and after check-in/out and also let me borrow an umbrella for free.
- Alex (8/5): Dont stay if you can afford a hotel - Hotel is ok only for one night if you need something affordable. If you can afford a hotel and have your own private room much better. You cant make noise m, but some people dont respect that and you cant sleep. Lobby always smells like soup since its next to restaurant. Hotel is clean and location is ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was very clean and stuffs were very helpful. The entire area was quiet due to the rules thus you can do your stuffs without anyone disturbing you. Just make sure not to make too much noise!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good stay at a comfortable hotel - Very affordable, and very easy to check in and check out. Despite the staff lack of English.
- aman (10/5): - Great place to have as home base
- tom (10/5): Quiet location but great for sight seeing. - Convenient hotel near to tourist sights. Staff werr extremely helpful. If like me you have tattoos, you wont be ve allowed in the communal baths.
- Richard (10/5): Convenient, and affordable - Close to 2 metro lines, and so close to Tokyo Tower. Also a few blocks from a Le Pain Quotidien! It was amazing to see the staff pay so much attention to keeping eveything clean.
Except for the loud snoring of the salarymen who would check in in the middle of the night, it was all great!
- Eddie (6/5): Tokyo - April 2016 - I stayed at First Cabin to save money.
The hotel seemed to be a 15-20min walk everywhere eg. the Tokyo Tower, metro stations, etc.
Being able to secure my belongings in the provided storage cabinet gave me peace of mind and allowed me to travel around Tokyo all day with confidence.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, convenient location. I enjoyed my stay.
- Betty (10/5): Modern Capsule Experience - It was one of the hippest hotels I've been to. It is a different kind of capsule hotel because it is modeled after the in-flight experience. Bed spaces are much roomier than regular capsules and I could stand up on the bed because each unit was floor to ceiling. I enjoyed the clean and sleek hotel because it felt really modern. They keep the entire floor dark all day until the morning, when they draw back the curtains to wake guests up. This makes it easier to sleep. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with not much around, so it is only good for a night you want to stay in and relax. The only things I didn't like were that it's a bit of a walk to the metro and luggage has to be kept downstairs with reception. Also, the bed I was assigned had an odor, so maybe the mattress could have been better cleaned. But sheets and blankets were really clean. They provide lots of free amenities, even humidifiers.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing place for the right price point. If you're a light sleeper, constant travelers at odd hours, the heavily snoring guy will ruin the hotel for you. But the hotel amenities cleanliness and style for the price in Tokyo is just awesome.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Highly recommend - Easy walking distance from Shinbashi station and the Atagoyama restaurants and bars. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely little onsen for soaking in after a long flight. My only complaint is that I found the sleeping area too warm. But eveything else was excellent.
- Robert (8/5): One cool little capsule - My flight was arriving late into Tokyo-Haneda airport, and I was leaving in the morning for Kyoto. I really just needed a place to sleep. First Cabin Atagoyama was perfect for this scenario. It is a stylish, clean, comfortable and extremely affordable "capsule hotel".
- Franco (6/5): Nice cabins, near the centre. - Stafff doesnt speak English at all. Breakfast ends at 9.30 and bathroom closes at 10am. It's insane.
- sara (10/5): Can't beat the location or price. - This hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Onarimon train station. There's a 24 hour Family Mart 2 blocks away. The staff is extremely friendly and speak great English. The lounge is nice and the wifi works great. The beds are hard, but that's pretty standard in Japan. The other guests were quiet, and I was able to sleep easily. The bed size is a full twin and there is a lock box in each capsule. You take the key with you when you leave, so it's secure. For this price and this location, less than a mile from the Tokyo Tower, I would definitely recommend it.
- johnny (10/5): - It was a pleasant experience. Gender segregated. U only able to use the life to the lobby area or ground floor. Hotel staff are friendly, complementary drink on arrival. Room condition is clean and tide. Spa to enjoy and ample toileries to use
- Natalie (8/5): Great spot in Tokyo - Knowing what I know about this niche market in Tokyo, I can say this is a great option. The spa facilities are fun, they have laundry, a nice lounge room. Its a great options for budget travel in Tokyo. The location is in a great spot in Tokyo and only a few blocks from the subway station. Its an easy walk and the line it's on is one of the primary ones and will get you anywhere in the city. The location has dozens and dozens of restaurants and bars, its very lively but quiet as only Tokyo can be. Know going in, that any lodging that is geared toward Japanese guests will have a very very firm mat/mattress to sleep on and very very firm pillows. I bring my own pillow when ever I travel so it was not an issue for me. Its also great because its women only so as a single female traveling you feel totally secure.
