Guest Reviews

- Jamie (9/5): Nice place, great vibe! - The room and bed was comfortable and adequete for a one night stay, excellent location.
- Lydia (9/5): Ideal place to stay in Sydney suburbia - The bar itself is really popular and nice to go to. It’s sits in a nice area outside the city centre which is a nice place to base yourself with great cafes and restaurants nearby. The shared bathrooms were great - I didn’t see anyone else using them during our stay. It can be slightly noisy at night - we arrived on a Wednesday and there was a heavy bass noisy through until midnight but every other night including the weekend was fine.
- BUNTHITA (8/5): Comfortable place in a nice neighbourhood - The hotel is in such a nice neighbourhood, not too
far from both city centre and airport. The room is nice and clean. The shared bathroom is always clean. During the weekday stay is fine, but if you stay over the weekend nights, it can be loud and you can feel the vibration from the bar downstairs.
- Shady (10/5): Loved it, thank you! - Clean, great location, comfortable bed, free drink at the pub on arrival! Nothing!

- Claire (10/5): Hidden gem - Absolutely love this Bar, superb location. Staff ho above and beyond to help in anyway. Awesome atmosphere
- Rich (8/5): Great room above a great bar in a great neighbourhood - Loved the location in Darlinghurst, as it was an area we hadn't explored much and everything in Sydney centre was walkable. Some lovely cafes on your doorstep not to mention the bar itself which was great! They threw in a free drink too. We were only staying one night before the aiport, but the room was a little small for all our luggage. Otherwise it was great. Good for a short stay I'd say! Just to say it will be noisy late at night (until 12) if you're staying on a weekend!
- fujii (10/5): - The legend staff was super kind.
- Steve (8/5): Great location. Nice staff. Clean amenities. Comfy bed -
- Claire (10/5): Perfectly placed hidden gem - We love this Bar. Staff are extremely polite and cheerful. Will go above and beyond if there's anything you need. We were made to feel very welcome and almost part of the family. We will definitely be staying again, when we next visit Sydney.
I dont think this Bar warrants only a 2star rating, it should be a high 3
- Bec (10/5): Had a great time - Convenient clean friendly fantastic atmosphere
- Chloe-Anne (8/5): - i love the staff, super welcoming and informative!! beds and rooms weren’t bad for the price! such a cute little bar!
- Jamie (8/5): Easy, clean and affordable - Close to Saint Vincent’s hospital Expect music from the venue to reach your room. Not unbearable but good to be aware before booking

- Peter (10/5): We shall look forward to staying when next in Sydney - Perfect location to Sacred Heart Hospital & walking distance to Kings Cross Railway Station & the best Cafe just down the road for breakfast & coffee @ the Darbury Cafe Darlinghurst. My partner & I were more than happy with the accomodation, bar staff, especially sitting outside relaxing with a beer n snack in the late afternoon sun together with the locals & their well behaved dogs.
- Juliana (9/5): - It was clean, comfy and in a good location. Too much noise coming from the bar. Music until midnight.

- Pei chen (7/5): -

- Veronica (3/5): I felt sad for the little hotel as its got potential. - Breakfast not included Access to rooms was too hard for an average person, very steep stairway. Needs a personal aid lift.
Toilets are tiny also 100kg person would find it very cramped. At the time showers were faulty also.
- Guest (4/5): - Bed comfy, window to street, good aircon, tea and coffee facilities. No remote control for TV, both bedside lights broken and shower in morning - no hot water, room looks like it is mid renovation.

- Luke (10/5): Lovely spot, great location, fantastic staff - Brilliant place to stay, beds comfy, rooms spacious and bathrooms clean.
The staff are the real highlights, Miles in particular, who were incredibly helpful at check-in, offering tips and answering all the questions I had. The shower takes a little while to warm up, but really that is fine.
- David (10/5): -
- Wood (8/5): -
- KATHRYN (8/5): Great location - Great To many stairs
- ashleigh (4/5): 18 y.o. Hostel vibes - Not exactly as advertised on booking.com
- Imahori (7/5): -
- HUIZHEN (10/5): -
- Hayley (8/5): Comfortable, lively, friendly. - In a good location, the shaded bathrooms were clean and the rooms were very cozy and comfortable. The locks were a little tricky to open.
- Daniel (7/5): Great, but I went un-showered, which wasn't ideal! - The drink coupons were a nice touch There was no hot water in the showers :(
Or tea bags in the room.....
- Esmeralda (6/5): - Great location WiFi not working properly. The showers need to be clean more often
- Greta (7/5): Thank you for the kind and friendly staff at Darlo Bar for making our stay so enjoyable -
- Minh Huyen (7/5): -
- Eva Luna (7/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): - Funky hotel downstairs clean comfortable accom upstairs in a great location
- Krisha (8/5): - The room was nice overall — a bit noisy until midnight, but that’s expected since it’s above a bar. I’d recommend asking for a room not facing the road. The shared bathroom was fine; we hardly saw anyone when we used it. There were a few dogs in the pub, which was tricky for me as I’m allergic, but the owner was lovely and even gave me some ice for my esky as i had food for my son. Parking was super easy with plenty of spots across the road. Great location too — close to Adarligh Harbour and nearby attractions. Overall, a unique experience (probably wouldn’t have booked it if other accommodation was available, but glad we did!)
- Omar (6/5): -
- Jonathon (9/5): -
- Mathew (7/5): For the low cost of accomodation in a high density area, it was a great stay! - I liked the aesthetic, cool vibes and very chill atmosphere. The location is very close to a lot of things and the city. There are some cafes on the same block and very close to oxford street and kings cross. It did smell a bit like wet carpet in the room. This was explained in the FAQ brochure, noting the sweating from the trees outside. The aircon did remove the smell. There was some stains by the fridge near the skirting boards and on the wall.
- Operaspice (10/5): Great budget option - Spotlessly clean. Very comfy bed. Friendly staff. Great bar Nothing
- Grace (6/5): -
- Aston (10/5): - Great stay with awesome vibe and area. Would love to stay again
- Shayne (8/5): Great value in excellent location. - Great location. Small but comfy and clean rooms with share bathrooms that are also clean. Iron and small fridge in room. Great breakfasts nearby. The music from upstairs goes till midnight which isn't such a bad thing except for the choice of music! Sorry Darlo.
- Sodari (1/5): -
- Lauren (3/5): Average - Staff were nice despite the considerable delay in check in Bed bugs. Had to wait 30 mins in a loud bar for staff to finish meeting to check me in.
- Rohan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phil (10/5): Perfect -
- Özkan (8/5): Great Location with a Vibrant Bar Atmosphere - The location was fantastic, and the bar downstairs is a lovely spot to relax in the evenings. The property serves its purpose—you get exactly what’s promised. One thing to consider: it may not be the best accommodation for larger families or those sensitive to noise. It’s a bar hotel, so there’s some music at night, though it didn’t bother me at all.
- Christopher (8/5): - Temp control for a/c wouldn't work correctly. During the rain, water was trickling down the wall. Beds are nice and hard. No lumps and dips. Like that they have three separate toilet stalls. Some are hard to engage locks. Two are are really small. Two separate shower stalls. Shower heads need tightened or replaced. Water in one takes forever to get hot.
- Rita (6/5): Comfortable and clean - Location Shared bathroom
- Falconer (10/5): Great location, vibe and people. -
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Trevor (7/5): Good - The room was comfortable and clean. Great having sash windows. Nice view.
Plenty of towels Shared bathrooms and toilets I didn't like
- Laura (7/5): Second visit - It was our second stay at Darlo Bar. The rooms are great, they’re a good size, has great aircon and overall quiet enough. The bathrooms had decreased in cleanliness since our first stay which was disappointing but still very good value for money and location.
- Gary (7/5): Good -
- Alastair (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqui (10/5): - Loved Darlo bar for a little staycation! Fabulous service, great vibe, food menu rocked! Plus a couple of drinks when we checked in! Thank you Darlobar
- Alastair (10/5): Thanks Legends - Every single staff member went out of their way to accommodate me. Clean, well-appointed rooms. Will be back!
- Beth (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Superb - Great location, friendly staff
- Jeric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeric (10/5): Best place to stay during Mardi Gras - Location was close to Oxford Street
Access to many cafes & restaurants
Coles was down the road Would be great if there was an ice machine on the floor or mini-kitchenette where there were water taps for water.
- David (9/5): Charming budget stay. - It was nicely decorated and well taken care of. The bar downstairs was inviting. The staff was kind and helpful. It was very difficult to lock and unlock the door. I had to lift the door up with all my strength to get the lock to engage.
- Rob (7/5): Good -
- Toby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Madeline (5/5): Great for a last minute stay for Mardi Gras pretty good location - Nice location, majority of staff are really nice, got two free drink vouchers which was a pleasant surprise Bed was uncomfy, dead bugs in the bedroom, super dusty set off my hayfever, and the showers were kind of gross one of them had these weird little bugs and there was quite a bit of mould
- Toby (10/5): Perfect to experience local life and enjoy neighborhood. - Property was very convenient to St. Vincent‘s hospital. Extremely convenient. The food and atmosphere in the bar was very pleasant. Great service. Stairs could be a challenge for anyone with a disability.
- Evren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harry (7/5): Good - Location was excellent. Good value.
- Federico (8/5): Good stay in a convenient location - Location, staff Room a bit smelly and with some loud noise on Saturday night.
- Saskia (8/5): Lovely rooms, centrally located though a bit noisy - Clean spacious rooms close to the Center and well connected to public transport. Shared bathrooms were clean and convenient- never had to wait! Bar noise was substantial but I knew that when booking
- Adnan (9/5): Superb - The location: Near kings cross and Oxford st
- Zaheer (1/5): Smelly room ants in the room - Location As soon as I walked into the room the smell was awful. The shared bathroom was disgusting and it was only cleaned once a day
- Tamanna (6/5): Ok - Lots of restaurants and bars near this hotel.
About a 40 min walk to the Sydney Opera House through the botanical gardens.
Lots of attractions within walking distance. It is quite noisy late into the night because there’s a bar downstairs.
The shared bathrooms felt a bit icky. They were clean but the entire bathroom gets wet and it felt a bit gross. The shower head was not detachable and it wasn’t powerful at all.
Check-in service is downstairs at the bar and felt quite slow.
- James (8/5): Very good - Nice place, very clean rooms and shared bathrooms and toilets. Pub is great and not noisy from the rooms Wifi connection is pretty poor and it has been for some time. It drops in and out all the time and often just doesn't work.
- Jospickart (8/5): Very good - Location is very convenient, no far from the CBD, so nearby to Cafes, stores, laundry services, transport and markets. First night, we got a room, last floor at the right with window to the principal road the one is pretty noise.
Then we changed to another room that they kindly give to us and was Amazing, so not complaining.
100% recommended.
- Crispin (8/5): Very good -
- Jonas (3/5): Room above the bar rooftop - disastrous night!! Great staff though. - The staff on site was super helpful and supportive. Everyone was really nice! We can only review the room we received (I think it was room 203) and not judge others. It was directly above the bars rooftop, hammering music untill midnight. Music suddenly turned on again shortly half an hour later and woke us up. Room door does not lock. Air-conditioning not working. Simply unacceptable to sell this room at the standard rate. It's basically a gamble if they will put you in this room if the hotel is full. It needs to be stated clearly how this room is and it needs to be sold at a much lower rate to young people that are anyway out until late. For us as a couple this night was a disaster.
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Great little room - clean, comfy, peaceful. Excellent location - right in the heart of Darlinghurst, and fun to be above the bar. Staff were really friendly and warm. As a solo female traveller I felt very at ease and safe. Note the bathrooms are shared
- Adam (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (10/5): - Pleasant stay , simple affordable rooms
- Sue (8/5): great - Location, ease and value for money I would have liked a box of tissues in the room and bathmat
- Peter (9/5): If you’re looking for a non-pretentious, clean, well-priced, no-frills place stay here. - Great neighborhood. Close to CBD and local Vibey neighborhoods
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Nice spot in Darlinghurst. Not too far from Kings Cross for train but far enough to be away from Kings Cross IYKYK It's above a bar so can be noisy until midnight.
The shower heads were average and the water kept going from hot to cold.
- Alana (5/5): Passable -
- Ellik (10/5): Exceptional -
