Guest Reviews
- Valerie (8/5): - Yes parking was easy and convenient. The room was very clean but lacking in some amenities (like hangers in the closet and sufficient hand towels and face cloths). The receptionist was clearly bored with his job and responded without friendliness.
- Ken (8/5): - Property being renovated but we received a room upgrade. Food at the restaurant was very good
- Cindy (10/5): - Newly renovated rooms. Lovely restaurant inside so no need to wander further after a long drive.
Really enjoyed our stay.
- Rosalie (10/5): - They are renovating the motel so the outside doesn’t look good but our room was newly renovated. It was large and clean. Bed was comfortable. I would stay here again.
- Leah (10/5): - The property is currently undergoing renovations, however, the rooms/corridors were very clean and everything was well maintained.
All staff- front desk clerk, restaurant staff, from the server to the chef were welcoming and accommodating, ensuring we were comfortable.
We highly recommend the Pinewood and would definitely stay again.
- Tyleign (10/5): - The rooms are really nice and clean, the beds are comfortable, speciality coffee complimentary in the rooms! I will be back and I RECOMMEND!
The check in process was fast and easy!
Customer service is top tier
- Michael (8/5): - Very nice hotel. Excellent dining room and another good restaurant across the street. Renos being done on lower floors, completed upstairs. Like new. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again without hesitation.
- Cindy (8/5): - The property was not the most inviting upon arrival due to renovations taking place which we were not aware of upon booking. We stayed in a newly renovated room which was very nice. Did not experience noise from renovations. We ate dinner in the onsite restaurant which was good, however not open in the morning for breakfast
- Christopher (8/5): - We got the refurbished rooms upstairs which are clean and very roomy. Staff was good, location perfect for an Espanola event we attended but property is in the middle of major construction which we did not know about.
- carey (6/5): - The property is under renovation and we were put in the reovated rooms that are very nice and new with newer beds. On our visit unfortunately the TV did not work at all and while in the shower, discovered that both the shampoo and soap dispensers were empty! Due to the late hour of arrival at 10pmand the closed up front ot the hotel we did not see any point in calling the front desk to try to get anything. The next morning the young lady said we should have called as personnel were on site. (There is no way we would have known this and anyway the chances of getting the TV fixed were likely nil at that hour. The point is, this stuff should have been checked. And if you are going to upgrade the hotel and beds, please upgrade the linens and towels.
- Geoffrey (8/5): - I realize that there were renovations on going, however there were signs of litter and the flower pots were overgrown with weeds. I just feel that a better looking, more attractive outside would be more welcoming.
The staff were excellent and the food was good. I would stay there again.
- SUN KYUNG (6/5): - The room was fine, but there were minor cleanliness issues, such as a dirty coffee machine and a shower curtain that seemed not to have been replaced, which had an unpleasant smell.
- Sharon (10/5): - We would have preferred main level as my husband has a difficult time with stairs however the main floor is going through renovations. The 2nd floor is complete and it is lovely. Spacious, clean, bright rooms. Bedding and bed were perfect and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.
- Peter (8/5): - towels were grey, not white. pillows were not the best.
- Robert (8/5): - Nice enough for a night on the road.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Nice place to spend the night
- Margaret (8/5): - Freshly renovated room. Staff were very accommodating. Convenient dining area.
- Lorri (8/5): - Newly renovated, but they have little things in the two rooms we were in that needed to be finished. Was very clean and fresh no complaints there. Restaurant had great service and good food.
- John (4/5): - Building is tired. Carpets in the hall look like a remnants of the 1970s. Front desk clerk was unsure where our room was.
Room is OK, clean but bed cover looks dated
Overall, not worth what we paid for the night. Barely a 2 star.
- Derrick (10/5): - Plenty of parking spaces & roomy spots. Rm 202 had an indoor & outdoor entrance both unlocked with room card. Room has been renovated. Laminate floors, nice w.r. with bright lights. Green friendly toiletries & nice selection of coffee/tea. Couldn't locate their restaurant's menu. Ordered from across street instead. Building itself is dated.
- Syd (8/5): - check-in was easy, staff were friendly, room had recently been renovated, would recommend
- Thomas (8/5): - Room was reconditioned. Not sure if it was completed. There was no place to hang coats/sweaters. Blinds didn't fit window and were not black out although room was clean, new and accessable. Would recommend and will return.
- MICHAEL (2/5): - Room smelled like musty carpet. Housekeeping did a poor job cleaning. There were bugs all over the place. When I asked for them to give me a bit of money off in the morning because of all of the bugs in the room, the gentleman at the front desk informed me the owner said he would call me later in the evening. I never received a call. I will certainly never stay here again.
- Yvonne (8/5): - Dining room was excellent. Hotel really needs some upgrades
- Debra (8/5): - What we liked was an attached restaurant
- Joe (8/5): - No
- Wei (8/5): - Parking
- Joan (8/5): - The property is being completely renovated, new floor coverings, new bathrooms, painting etc. Second floor is completed, working on the first floor. Staff/service was good. Good improvement over previous years and staff.
- Carla (6/5): - I was disappointed. The pictures online do not show the deterioration of the inn. Bathroom needs new towels, new shower curtain, and deep cleaning especially getting rid of mildew around the tub. The curtains were ripped and stabled together! This is not satisfactory. I will not return!
- Caroline (10/5): - Clean
- RICHARD (8/5): - Our room faced street early morning road noise
- Gyoosen (4/5): - Dirty towels,toilet,carp---
- Jean (10/5): - Very friendly staff and super clean room and bathroom
- Rick (10/5): - Newly renovated room and due to ongoing construction and my after hours arrival was greeted by the manager.
- Maryann (10/5): - Newly renovated
- Steven (10/5): - Rooms are newly remodeled. Very nice and clean. Bed was amazingly comfortable.
- Debra (6/5): Don’t stay at Pinewood Motel - The towels were awful, the pillowcases were filthy as if someone slept on them and the staff didn’t change them. There were no facecloths and when I went to the front desk, it was closed early
- Cheryl (8/5): - Nice newly renovated room , spaceous and clean. Only complaint is no kleenix box and the toilet paper holder is installed upside down so it is constantly falling on the floor - did the installer not give it any thought, the roll hangs down therefor the stopper should be on the top not the bottom and the roll is angled down so it falls every time it is even touched! It did take a ery long time to check in, perhaps a new person.
- David (6/5): - Had to kick the room door to open and close it, rugs were threadbare
- Joyce (10/5): - All good.
- Nicola (4/5): - Clean rooms. Convenient to the highway. Bathroom nicely done. Bedding and couch could do with an update. Had to wait 20mins to get help to check in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - The place is older but it's being renovated. We had a newer room that was comfortable. Was disappointed to being woken up by housekeeping staff banging on our door at 9:15 am when checkout is at 11 am.
- Fred (10/5): - Friendly helpful staff checked us in early with a pet
- Martin (10/5): - We just had a last minute overnight stay. The room was large and newly renovated, quiet and with a king bed, so we slept well.
- Gaetan (10/5): - As seniors, upon check-in, the front office staff graciously offered to assist by transporting my luggage to our room, which was a thoughtful and much appreciated gesture.
- Denise (10/5): Freshly renovated and comfortable - Needed a home base for a few days while exploring the region. It was central and served all our needs. Room was recently renovated and beautiful. Front desk staff were amazing. Everybody was really friendly. Had one issue with a black stain on a sheet - like it had picked up dirt from being dragged on the floor. When we showed it to the front desk they were horrified and immediately set to work fixing it. Otherwise room was clean, comfortable.
Because it’s a double room having two chairs in the room would have been nice - like a desk chair and a regular chair.
We really appreciated having both a luggage rack and a platform in the wardrobe area so we each had a spot to situate our suitcases - a rarity in most places.
Would absolutely stay there again when back in the area.
- James (10/5): The new Pinewood… -
New management, the place is under a wonderful facelift. The rooms are modern and new floors with no stinking carpets.
Loved it and will make it my place to stay ever time I’m in Espanola…
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Linens and towels shabby
- Sarah (6/5): - Wasn't great
- Gregory (10/5): - The staff is very friendly. The usual pet friendly rooms are being renovated, so it is a longer walk to a grassy area. Otherwise everything is great.
- Feng (8/5): - everything is ok
- robert (10/5): - Clean, good resrauraunt, good servise and helpful
- Mike (8/5): - Newly renovated
- Laura (8/5): - Lovely staff - all of our interactions have been wonderful. The motel is in the midst of renovations and we had an updated room which was beautiful - large, clean and modern. Very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The motel is close to construction happening in the downtown core which currently gives the area around property a dusty, grubby vibe.
- Lyane (10/5): - Our room was newly renovated. The decor was very nice and the beds extremely comfortable. The restaurant on-site was excellent and reasonably priced.
- Aaron (8/5): - modern rooms, nice staff
- Patricia (10/5): - As I am a senior, at check in, the gentleman at front desk was most helpful carrying my bag upstairs to second floor. They are renovating first floor rooms.
If they renovate all rooms the same as the one I was in it will be excellent!
I’m sure they will also install handicap front door entry which would be most helpful. I would stay there again!
- Giovanna (2/5): - .
- Heather (10/5): - Thanks again Pinewood! We upgraded our room no problem on arrival. My family and I were comfortable and grateful for such a clean and lovely room. Check-in was easy and the staff were so friendly. Great price for a last minute upgrade. We will stay here again when we come back up North. Highly recommend!
- David (10/5): - Room was renovated and clean. Hotel is being renovated. Some areas as well as the outside of the building have not yet been upgraded. Overall a decent location.
- Michael (8/5): - Overall was ok, great staff, very friendly. Room was satisfactory.
This place undergoing renovations but all in all good experience.
- Imbecile (8/5): - Nice and clean renovation but just missing clinic soap for the shower and no freezer in the room
- V Ann (10/5): - This is an excellent place to stay... for all the reasons noted above.
Furthermore, the on-site dining facility is fabulous. Excellent menu, excellent service, exceptional food preparation and at more than reasonable prices.
- beth (8/5): - I did like the new room, however the toilet had dry feces in it. We also had ear wigs. Brand new room. The rest of hotel is so outdated. No staff on after 10 at night. The pillow cases were almost light brown in color. They need to brighten them. Towels and cloths too,.
We would stay again but hope it is fixed up by then.
- John (10/5): Friendly staff and great room. - Great stay, front desk very friendly and helpful, the room was renovated and very nice, the one thing I would recommend would be to put a few facecloths in the room. Had dinner in the restaurant, great food. Would recommend to friends.
- Heather (10/5): - Harry at the front desk was absolutely wonderful. He made sure we could get our key easily when we arrived quite late and in the middle of a thunderstorm. We felt welcomed and safe after a very hard drive. Our room was clean. The beds were comfortable. It was apparent that renovations had happened. Overall, we were very impressed with our stay. Thanks Harry!
- David (10/5): Great Renovations - Above our expectations. We can’t wait to come back to see the next phase of renovations!
- Teresa (10/5): - Very nice hotel. Newly renovated rooms. Very good restaurant. Only problem was it closes at 8 and we had a very quick supper
- Roger (8/5): - Pleasant staff! Room was remodeled nicely
- Amanda (10/5): A+++++ - Came for a wedding this past weekend and I honestly had nothing bad to say. The staff was amazing, even though things are tight right now, they made everything work in accommodating everyone and their needs. Owners are amazing people and super friendly and inviting making everything feel like home. I cannot wait to see the rest of the renovations complete, as I'm sure it will look amazing. See you all again soon.
- GRAZIANO (8/5): - Although the exterior seems very plain, we were pleasantly surprise with the appearance of our room. It was on the second floor, was comfortable and seemed to be newly renovated. The only minus was that it just needed some finishing touches. Also, be warned that there is no elevator.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - dog hair on sofa, no sheets on the bed and not properly vacuum.
- Georg (8/5): - They have a restaurant on premises but it is not open for breakfast
- Peter (10/5): Excellent stay! - The room and hotel are very clean. The reception and restaurant staff are excellent, very cordial and friendly. The food in the restaurant is also excellent with large portions served.
- albert (10/5): - Love the uncarpeted and spacious room! Wonderful couch, modern lighting, great bathroom, awesome bed! Functional items throughout and everything works. Very supportive of the ‘no cooking rule’ that keeps the room pristine and clean for everyone. The BEST of value anywhere!
- Bruce (8/5): - Check in Staff Great
Dining Room Staff and Food Great
Condition of room: The toilet bowl was not
cleaned sufficiently, sock under the bed (not ours),
Knew there was renovations going on the back side
of the motel, if the room we were in will be renovated
we would return otherwise no
- Simone (8/5): Great stay - Stayed on second floor. Renovated rooms are nicely appointed.
- Jay (10/5): - The hotel is being refurbished. I had a new room.
- Constance (10/5): - The property is under renovation and we stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. It was simply decorated and well done. My favorite part of the accomadation was there was no nasty carpeting but beautiful LVP.
- Raja Rohith (2/5): - This unfortunately doesn't qualify to be a active hotel. Though the staff was nice, the overall condition of room was very poor, smelly, dirty, spider webs everywhere, pests, run-down, couldn't sleep at all..
- John (8/5): - Staff was awesome. They are under renovation so couple little quirks. My complaint in outlet beside table, for CPAP etc. the in room coffee makers didn’t have any creamers.
- Stephen (10/5): - Suites have been recently redone. New furniture, washroom fixtures, paint. Very clean. Excellent, happy staff.
- Katharina (8/5): - Good
- anne (10/5): - The manager was great, we were checked in and the room was awesome. He was very helpful when I needed a question asked.
Would stay there again
- Cindy (10/5): - Newly renovated second floor was wonderful. Staff were excellent and friendly.
We were there for a wedding so it would have been nice to know that our room card works on the back door. First night luckily someone had propped the back door open. Second night was about to call for help when we tried our card on a whim.
- James (6/5): - Food and service great in restaurant but room tough. Things didn’t wirk
- Louise (6/5): - Pricey for what it is. Needs a paint job and a face lift. Definitely needs renovations to the rooms. At least the bathroom was clean and updated.
Restaurant is great. Only reason we stayed here twice
- Daniel (4/5): - Needs major nenovation . Much to expensive for its quality
- Robin (10/5): - Check in went great. Staff are very friendly. We have been staying here once a year for the last 3 years. Accommodation are perfect. Restaurant is onsite is wonderful. Look forward to haveing dinner here every year.
- Alex (10/5): - Basic old style two story motel, well kept up and well managed. I've stayed there several times and always been pleased. The best motel in the area in my view. Restaurant is attached and convenient and the food is good andvreasonably priced.
- Paul (4/5): - Hotel was under construction. Not told in advance. Worked loudly till 6pm on Sat . Would not have stayed there .
- Lee (8/5): - Best stay in Espanola, make sure you eat at least one of your suppers here as well.
- Kathy (6/5): - Its location was in town.
- Catherine (4/5): - Dated ...dirty .. smells...sheets dirty...rug dirty. .sooo out dated ...
- Jennifer (10/5): Snug as a Bug - Very nice staff. Accommodating. Nice little in-house restaurant and close amenities. Room was spacious and clean. My only suggestion is that they frost the glass or add shears to the windows. They have the standard blackout curtains but if you want some natural you’d be visible to the parking lot.
- Gary (8/5): - Bathroom tub tiles were dirty and somewhat moldy.
- Nelson (10/5): - GOOD
- Cameron (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay
- Jennifer (10/5): - Liked floor level, able to park in front of door
- Hadi (8/5): - One Light bulb broken and few of them did not work
