Guest Reviews
- Ellen (7/5): Location and cleanliness - The location is excellent- close to Stanford stadium, stanford shopping mall with excellent shops and dept stores. Also close to restaurants . Staff- always no one at the reception.
Some Staff does not speak english . there were no reception when i checked out and available staff has language barrier.
Breakfast- during breakfast omelette keeps running out and had to wait several times. Not sure if hotel is short staff

- Biswajoy (7/5): -
- Navid (10/5): Navid A - Location and cleanliness and great staff I had a great experience. Nothing bad to say. Will stay there again.
- Tim (9/5): -
- Diana (5/5): - The location is very convenient and close to Safeway. The breakfast was decent. The staff was amazing and helpful The door was broken, the shower has mold. It felt not clean
- Andrea-Maria (7/5): Praktisch, ruhig, gut gelegen.
- Raul (10/5): Excellent and cozy! A home away from home! - Room Lack of fun common areas.
- vS (8/5): We had a lovely stay at a great location. Breakfast could have been a bit better. - I liked the room and the cleanliness, towels were clean too. I liked the filtered hot and cold water. I liked the Starbucks coffee machine very much! I liked the terrace and the hot tub. I liked the parking facility, and the protected gates. At breakfast I liked the yoghurt (natural and one with flavor), juices. To be honest, breakfast was a bit disappointing: same 2 sorts of fruit every day, a lot of egg, but these did not look tempting. I would have liked some and more diverse fruits; more day to day fresh variation. Croissants were the same and very industrial- not fresh. Pancake machine was out of order.
- Spencer (10/5): Wonderful location and staff - We've stayed at your wonderful hotel for the past three years visiting our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Your place is very centrally located, clean and the staff is so nice. Great place.

- Marti (9/5): All in all the trip was good. - The area was great! We could walk to The Guild for our concert. Lots of shopping you could walk or drive to in the area. The hotel has a beautiful outdoor area with a fire pitt and lots of outdoor seating and a lap pool. They have a really cool indoor area with TV's on the walls and a pool table. They furnish free coffee and have a cold/hot water dispenser and ice. The room was big even with 2 queen beds. The beds were awful!! They really need to get new matresses. My husbands back hurt and my hips hurt after 2 nights on these old uncomfortable matresses. Also, it would've been nice if they could've contacted us and let us know that the A/C was broken. It was in the mid 80's and no A/C. I think they should've compensated us for the broken A/C.
- Daisy (1/5): One of the worst stays I’ve had in quite some time. Given the area I expected the hospitality service to be top tier. Th - Location was next to a lot of stores and quiet. The ac in the room was broken so the room was at 80 degrees all night making it impossible to sleep. When I notified the staff they did nothing to remedy the situation besides saying they had just fixed it. We were not the only ones with this problem. Their pillows were extremely disgusting with yellow stains. Their complimentary breakfast was lack luster. I had to inform the front desk that their pancake machine was out of batter with hospitality sorely lacking from both the night crew and morning crew.
- Guilherme (7/5): -
- Price (5/5): Very difficult to sleep in the room. - The staff were very helpful Our room was situated next to a machine of some kind that was extremely noisy all through the night making it very difficult to sleep.
- Takayoshi (8/5): -
- 193kristiev (2/5): No AC or Heat with 50-80 degree temps. - I was very upset and angry after we arrived at the hotel. After having flown and driven all day and then show up to a hotel with no AC or heat, it was extremely disappointing. If it had just been that day or two days, I would have understood. However, we were told the AC and heat had been out for more than 5 weeks. It was Stanford University's Parents Weekend!!! We tried to find another hotel but everything was sold out. He had no choice but to stay here. If we have been notified that the hotel had this issue, we may have been able to book somewhere else well before arriving. When the temps for our stay were between 50 and 80 degrees, you need both heat and AC. Without the heat/AC, sleeping and relaxing in your room are flat-out terrible. I was also very frustrated when I asked for a discounted rate and told that the 3rd party we booked through would have to contact the manager at the hotel to get the 40% discount the guy at the front desk told us we would get. While we loved the hotel location, we will not be coming back!
- adhisvarir (6/5): Average stay - The room was small. Ran out of hot water the next day. Had to take a bath with lukewarm water. Hot water came at 12pm but was too late. No heater in room. Front desk staff came and dropped a portable heater. No vegetarian food in morning breakfast. Overall not the experience I was hoping for. Front desk staff was nice so that was the good thing.
- Cueva (8/5): -
- Helen (1/5): Overall felt no transparency and alot of disrespect. Information was disclosed when confronted, overall disappointed. Fo - Location Our room had no heat. They did not disclose this upon checking in, found out the hard way when I woke up the next morning and it was cold. Upon arrival the room temp was 64F and I thought I adjusted the heat but clearly nothing happened overnight. After confronting the person at the desk the next day, they told me there’s a portable heater in the room and they could bring me a blanket. I did not feel comfortable with keeping the mini heater on during the night for fear of a fire. The second day, the room temp was 54F…and it was not warm weather outside, it made for a very cold stay. We put on our clothes and they were cold, the bathroom floor was very cold. The only good thing was the warm shower. I did ask if we could move rooms but they were less than interested in offering this as an option. We did not receive housekeeping, when I asked about it, they asked me if I put the card on the door, to which I said no. Lastly, their ‘breakfast included’ was extremely poor. One morning 45 min before the end of the service, there was no warm food, just lain yogurt and a few bagels. The hot serving dishes had bits of food in them, but no staff to ask for replenishing the mini buffet.
- Eduardo (8/5): - Café da manhã simples e sortido com produtos de qualidade. Staff super atencioso, ótimo estacionamento, perto de mercado, farmácia e um parque. Academia simples mas funcional
- Charles (10/5): -
- Karin (9/5): -
- girlm2026 (6/5): Basic, located well, nice staff - Located on El Camino Real it's super close to Stanford and has lots of nearby food and shopping options. The lobby area is gorgeous and modern and the front desk staff were great. Michael was exceptional at sweetly and swiftly trying to resolve an issue. He was truly amazing and they are lucky to have him. The rooms are just ok...tired, but clean. Hardest bed I've slept on (or tried to)...not comfortable. Morning breakfast was fine. Free parking. If you want a quieter room request one away from El Camino Real because it's always busy.
- Samuel (9/5): -
- shawnsh (9/5): Nice Quick Stay near Menlo Park - The room was very nice, and good sized. A comfortable bed and upgraded shower and vanity area. The only downside was the hot tub was closed for repairs. The breakfast was good, with small omelettes and many other options.
- Guillermo (10/5): -
- Ossi (3/5): - Location and staff Staff are great and helpful. The rooms have a bad smell. We requested to move to another room and was a lot better, but with minor smell. Not sure if it is the carpet or something else.
- michellesE7330BK (10/5): Great place to stay - Everything was great 👍
clean room, comfy bed and friendly staff. Lots of places to eat and Safeway is right next door, A 1 minute walk
- 709johannac (8/5): Convenient Location - Close to Safeway (next door), Stanford Shopping Center, TWO Trader Joe's (MP, PA), and Stanford University. No hassle self parking.
- ciara (4/5): I wouldn’t stay here again. - Good location Spa was broken, beds are uncomfortable, there were ants in our original room so we had to be moved, pancake machine was not working and the half and half for my coffee was curdled. Kitchen staff couldn’t communicate because they only spoke Spanish so that was unhelpful when I was trying to get assistance at breakfast.
Front desk staff were very kind and helpful.
- Avel (3/5): -
- VALENTINA (8/5): -
- B443OIluiso (10/5): Luis - I really liked this hotel I give 10/10 the environment was welcoming the staff extremely excellent if I ever close to Palo Alto I definitely stay here again.
- Linda (9/5): I was very pleasantly surprised after driving into an old style motel, once I walked in everything about this felt new. - The staff was very friendly & accommodating, & every area from the inviting lobby, to breakfast area to the room was impeccably clean. The pillows are huge & very uncomfortable.
- Pascal (3/5): Nie wieder - - Der Parkplatz direkt vor dem Hotel - Stinkendes Zimmer
- Extrem kleine Doppelbetten (nicht für 2 Personen!)
- Undichte Zimmer
- Extrem lärmig (Autos, Eismaschine in der Nacht)
- Spencer (10/5): - Everyone that works there is so nice. Great location.
- Maria (10/5): -
- Cera (10/5): - Clean room and staff was helpful
- Haunani (8/5): - Staff was amazing!!! Breakfast was way better than any other continental we have had. The rooms were very very tiny, a family of four was smooshed in two full beds(my fault for not seeing that’s the biggest beds they had)
Swimming pool was not a pool it was more of a hot tub but in a small swimming pool style
But that wasn’t a big deal aa we were going to Santa Cruz.
overall if your looking for a nights getaway or a few days for 1-3 people I’d recommend one room, any more people get more rooms lol…I appreciated the quiet, clean, SAFE, low priced hotel. Most hotels that are low priced, show it on the inside and out. They sacrifice their safety and cleanliness (employees who just do the minimum or actually turn the other way and not help when they see something unsafe.) (maids who don’t think a thorough cleaning is necessary) and tom, dick and harry all hanging out front drunk, scaring your kids lol
Great hotel and we felt completely safe
- Miguel (8/5): - The service from the staff was great. We had to leave early in the morning which was unfortunate before they served the complimentary breakfast. But they allowed us to grab some of stocked items like yogurt, cereal, and breakfast beverages. The room was great, nice and clean. The pillows were the only thing that were not comfortable. They had some amenities as well
- GRAHAM (10/5): - Mark at thr front desk was exceptionally friendly and professional. Made our experience VIP!
- Jayd (10/5): - The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful, rooms are great, property and breakfast great!
- Alice (10/5): - Cute little hotel. Everything you need!
- Stephanie (8/5): Great location with a clean, spacious room. - Great location. Clean room. Our room was way back in a corner with only a small window that faced a wall.
- Mary (6/5): - Plenty of food options and shopping near by. Room was clean but the TV was nit functional. Streaming services and any of the offered channels did not come in.
- Lisa (10/5): - Close to Meta Connect and friendly staff
- Kiran (10/5): Comfort with a side of fun - Hotel Lucent in Menlo Park was a pleasant experience - warm, welcoming staff and a location that puts you 1-2 blocks away from great cafes, restaurants, and shops. The rooms are comfortable, with housekeeping that keeps everything spotless. A note of caution: if you’re in a room facing El Camino Real, you may hear the occasional traffic zoom by, but most rooms are quiet and restful. The lobby is a nice bonus, complete with a pool table and ping pong that adds a touch of fun to the stay.
- Brian (9/5): Beautiful local hotel with nice amenities, lots of charm, and friendly staff! - The staff greeted me with a genuinely friendly welcome. The room was immaculate and comfortable. The higher-end amenities and appointments throughout the room and bathroom were very impressive! Not a thing!
- Nathan (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Close to nearby stores if you’re missing anything for your trip. Lots of convenient restaurants that are walkable distance.
- Julia (8/5): -
- Taylor (10/5): Great location, staff, and cleanliness for the price! - The breakfast was amazing! The staff were so nice. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very good value for the price. Nice and low key. Hot tub was cold and dirty.
- Minah (10/5): - breakfast was so good
- 90donnag (10/5): GREAT HOTEL - I loved staying here. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Everything worked - the air conditioning, the bathroom fan, good shower pressure. Bed and pillows comfortable. They would be a great place to be with a group of friends.
Literally right next door is a seafood restaurant with great prices and close by is a grocery store and many, many restaurants.
We stayed here to go to King's Mountain in the redwoods. When you first see the hotel you think it looks like a motel but it isn’t. You have to go thru the lobby or use your key card to enter so it is very secure. Most rooms are facing the outdoor quad area and they have windows that open! I would stay here again.
- Spencer (10/5): -
- Mara (10/5): - Loved the history. Very cute hotel. Mattress a bit uncomfortable.
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): Great stay, great location and the staff was super friendly - The guy at the front desk that check us in was wondering, very nice and welcoming
- Peteris (7/5): -
- Denise (10/5): - The room was very clean and comfortable. It was just an over night trip to visit a family member at the hospital, but if he had to stay longer we would definitely stay here again. Nice spacious room.
- Gabrielle (8/5): -
- Elif (1/5): Terrible experience, just see the photos & you'll understand. - Nothing at all This property is nothing like it's pictures.
If you don't want to be given a room that has WALL VIEW (see photos below), have breakfast in paper plates, or having lots of dust and humidity stench in your room, you'd better look for a different place to stay.
- Kelly (10/5): - The exercise equipment was in great condition, the outside areas were very nice. The location to Stanford Hospital was great too! Lots of dining options within walking distance and a grocery store was right around the corner.
- Salvador (10/5): - Everything
- Allan (10/5): - Really wnjoyed our stay. The decor is bright and airy. Staff were very helpful on things to do or get arranged.
- Joanny (6/5): - The location was good but the room made me feel like i was in an upgraded motel. the bed was lumpy and there were some holes in the sheets. It was not what i expected looking at the pictures.
- Monica (10/5): I definitely would stay here again. I wish I could’ve taken advantage of the free bikes. - Staff was great, the breakfast was actually plentiful. Overall it was very nice.
- Sarick (8/5): Very good -
- Willa Michelle (10/5): - The hotel is located on El Camino Real, right next-door to a large Safeway, about a half mile to the Stanford Shopping Cemter , and a mile to the entrance to Stanford University. In the other direction it’s a couple of blocks from Santa Cruz Ave. a major retail street in Menlo Park. Overall, it was very convenient clean safe and welcoming - plus it was not to large. We were able to take the CalTrain from SJC and walk to most of our destinations.
- Aaron (10/5): Just right. - Front desk associate Cassandra was amazing. She was very helpful and made changes to accommodate my wife’s recent knee surgery. I didn’t even have to ask. It’s rare that you find someone who is that considerate.
- shelly (10/5): Good Night’s Sleep - The staff were courteous and dedicated to providing good service. The place is quaint, clean, and quiet. Pool table, pool, amazing breakfast. Can you say chia pudding!?
- Lillian (10/5): - the location was really close to stanford and overall super nice. everything was remodeled
- Traveller_152013 (6/5): Good service, noisy room - The staff is helpful and super attentive to requests. However lot of car street noise from El Camino read and also footsteps from rooms upstairs.
- Voyager829901 (4/5): Not as advertised on the website - Too be honest if felt more like a motel. The best part of the hotel was the staff and the bikes. The pool was disappointing as well as the rooftop deck. The room was nice as well as the shower. It was very noisy.
- Lorenza (7/5): Overrated but nice - Definitely great location, easy to find and super clean. Rooms very big and quite modern Definitely overrated. Too expensive for what you get. There’s a fireplace but we could enjoy it cause some people threw a private party and monopolized it. The hotel should have prevented it.
Breakfast very mediocre, no pancakes, no alternative milks, no fresh coffee. For what you pay I’d expect much more
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Tonya (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Lucent. Cassandra checked us in and was super helpful. We didn’t spend much time in room because we came here for a concert. We like getting our steps in so we walked into town, which was super cute. We also walked home from concert and we felt safe. We enjoyed the late check out so we slept in instead of getting up for breakfast.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Armando (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (6/5): Fine, but not amazing - Location was great, staff really nice Pool was dirty and freezing, room was small and compared to other places in the area not as nice for the money.
- Kristin (9/5): Superb -
- hima (8/5): - .
- Terri (8/5): Nice stay! - We enjoyed our stay. Very friendly front desk staff, Mark in particular. A little noisy at night, possibly a compressor or working on some type of equipment.
The soap in the bathroom was very small, and there were no coffee sticks to stir the coffee.
- Heather (8/5): - Great staff and convenient location.
- Ali (1/5): Bad -
- Meyvi (10/5): - Great hotel for business trip
- Maser (4/5): Meh. Not having hot water is a real downer. - The hotel was clean and quiet. Location is good. Room was nice and bed was comfortable. We were looking forward to using the hot tub but it was closed because of a maintenance issue. Disappointing but would not have affected rating that much-things break down. The big issue is that we had no hot water in the room-COLD SHOWER. We called the front desk and the person there was unhelpful and basically just said sorry. Total bummer.
- Veronica (5/5): Passable -
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Boyce (10/5): Great place to stay - From the moment we walked in we were greeted ,check in was easy loved the free hot chocolate in the lobby it was good kids enjoyed the pool tables and outside small pool.
Breakfast was bomb especially the egg ones with cheese.
Staff was nice and friendly
Rooms were nice
Everything was A+ and even better 24 hour Safeway is next door you can walk to it and the gas station
Food places were close as well
I'm definitely staying here again if I'm down that way and need a place to stay Liked everything
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for a night - Good price and cheerful decor. Nothing fancy but clean. Would stay for another 1 night stay, but not for longer stays
- Margaret (10/5): - Perfect place to stay if you are planning a weekend in Menlo Park. It's an eady walk to the Guild Theatre or the lovely town center shops.
- louisrS5020AZ (2/5): Poor communications with management and unacceptable room service. - Poor communication with desk clerk. Did not address problems with room or offer alternate solutions. Only said he’s sorry about a dozen times. No offer to adjust the price of the stay. Did not clean the room or offer to move to another room. No TV service the first day and did not do a requested wake up call.
- Donna (10/5): - Great service, breakfast was just okay
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, quiet, great breakfast.
- Michelle (10/5): - We arrived really late and the staff was very helpful and courteous.
- Abby (10/5): - such a lovely place to stay
- Belinda (10/5): 10/10 Highly recommended ! - Very Welcoming Staff. My Kids And I Enjoyed The Variety Of Choices They Had For Breakfast. Coffee 24/7 Was A Plus Enjoyed The Warm Pool. Rooms Were Big And Comfy.
