• Michael (8/5): - Alle waren sehr freundlich. Das Essen war sehr gut. Ein paar Dinge waren etwas abgewohnt. Mit wenig finanziellen Aufwand ließe sich das verbessern, z.Bsp eine neue Klobrille oder neue Seifen-/Shampoospender. Dann macht es gleich einen wertigeren Eindruck.

Staff were fantastic, especially Cyril. Situated in quiet location but still close to beaches and other attractions. Views of the river and seeing monkeys in the trees nearby a bonus. No complaints

Für einen ruhigen und erholsamen Urlaub bestens zu empfehlen. Das Hotel ist super und bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und aufmerksam. Pool, Anlage, Restaurant und Zimmer- alles sauber und ordentlich Speisen und Getränke sind top. Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis ist voll ok. Es gab nichts zu bemängeln

• paulmZ7330SJ (10/5): A Must Hotel - Well we have just arrived home after staying at this fantastic hotel for 3 weeks,dale and his staff were amazing very attentive they really couldn't do enough for you,the rooms were clean and had everything you need and were cleaned every day,the food was so good we never ate anywhere else,the pool area is clean and look after every day,it's a 10 minute tuk ride from the beach area set in a peaceful area at the side of a lake perfect for bird watchers,special mention to Cyril the head waiter lovely man looked after all our needs,this hotel is a must,we have already booked for next year 👍👍

The staff were so attentive, we also had dinner there, which was great value for money as well as delicious. You have beautiful views over the lake, with lots of bird species, very peaceful. The pool was nice in the evening. Staff where very welcoming, and because it was away from busy beach area, it was very peaceful here. Only bad points were beds are a little hard, and towels toiletries could do with updating. But would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was also lovely, with lots of choices.

• Jangym (10/5): The perfect place to stay in Sri Lanka, with great staff, location and the best food in town. - The Asian Jewell is the perfect place for a chilled holiday ..Lovely staff who couldn't do more to make us welcome, Fantastic food, right near everything including an amazing beach, shops and bars. They can organise drivers for airport pick ups and tailor made trips. We can't wait to go back there. There was nothing we did not like about the Asian Jewell, and if you needed any help or advice the owner Dale Mahon and all of the staff were brilliant.

They were able to sort out our laundry and the food was delicious. Limited hot water in the bathroom. The rooms are dated but nothing to put you off. Loads of strays on the path to the main road. I’d have loved to have seen more authentic Sri Lankan cuisine available but at the same time, you can get that down the road.

There curry is famous & locals come from Colombo just for that!!!That's saying something as a recommendation. We ate both European & Sri Lankan food. Both was wonderful & beautifully presented. Taste was delicious in everything we ate. Staff are friendly & very professional, nothing too much trouble & discreet. Cold beverages were ice cold. Oooh the ambiance in lush tropical gardens with kingfishers & other exotic birds. I highly recommend & it's not expensive. Reasonable prices. Nothing not to enjoy. Ate there several times & booked to go again.

• Daniel (10/5): Peace and tranquility with a warm welcome and wonderful food. - This is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star for location, friendliness of staff, food and hospitality. The menu had a large range in choice from Asian and Indian curries to pastas and even English pub specials plenty to suit everyone. Our room was very spacious with a large wet room and bath, a large balcony with an uninterrupted view of the lagoon. A well looked after pool with comfortable sun beds enables you to enjoy the peace and tranquility this hotel offers. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure your stay was enjoyable. The owner was more than helpful with suggestions on the best excursions and will happily arrange and book for you. The beach is less than a 10 minute Tuk Tuk ride away and cost 500 SLR . The abundance of wildlife observed from your balcony and surrounding area is amazing. It's totally worth the stay if you don't fancy the hustle and bustle at the beach front 24/7. Nothing, our stay far exceeded our expectations.

It is in a peaceful location but only a short and cheap tuk tuk ride - around £1.75 - into the more hectic beach area.We would strongly recommend.

The only place to experience the Authentic Local Curry!!!! Amazing. Dale and his staff are absolutely great, Overlooks a lovely lake, while only a short tuk tuk away from the main beach area. This is a must visit, also welcomes guests for lunch or Dinner. you wont be disappointed!

• davedC7682QW (10/5): A little Gem of a find.... - Amazing Hotel...a 2 minute tut tut ride from the main drag...Beautiful swimming pool overlooking a lovely Lagoon...My room was spotless with Amazing views...The Food is Amazing... English @ Sri Lankan food the best we had in Hikkaduwa....Lastly the Manager Dale a English guy and the other staff couldn't do enough for you...We will definitely be coming back next year... Superb place....
• Christina (10/5): A hidden gem - A fantastic hotel, really a hidden gem. From arriving to the hotel, meeting the owner Dale and the whole stay was amazing. Its a small, very pesonal hotel with a very nice atmosphere. The staff did an amazing job, bringng, drinks, coffee etc to our room and helping us with all kinds of things. Its not at the beach, but so close, a quick tuktuk ride away. The foos was fantastic, with a mix of European and Asian food. We highly recommend this hotel!
• 543debbiem (8/5): A little jewel indeed@ - Although the rooms are a little dated, they are clean and spacious with a lovely large terrace in a lovely location overlooking a beautiful lake. We really enjoyed the view whilst having our morning coffee and saw various birds and parrots. The rooms are actually above a restaurant and just 7 minutes from town via tuk tuk. So if you are looking for character with a lovely chilled garden pool area look no further! All the staff are so friendly and the food is beyond delicious- as well as having a lovely breakfast here each morning, we enjoyed a fresh tuna salad and their amazing Sri Lankan curry. We enjoyed our stay here!

• david (10/5): Top place, attention to detail. - Brilliant setting, we had toured the whole island and this was probably the best hotel we stayed at. Staff were so observant of your needs. Food very good. Have done creature comforts for the Brits especially when your curried out and want a shepherd's pie or a roast but still have all of the Sri Lankan food. Rooms are colonial style, very nice. Pool is lovely, goes to 6' and is nice and cool not warm like a lot of pools. Setting is on a beautiful lake do very tranquil but 500rps and your on the beach. Owners have deal with tuk tuk drivers so even though your out of town, your 20mins from the action, atms, supermarkets as Nd great fresh seafood. Only 5 rooms, don't hesitate to book.

• Tracy (10/5): Fabulous time at Asian Boutique - We have just finished our stay at this fabulous hotel, I cannot recommend this place enough, we had a fantastic time, the best stay of our vacation. The property location is around 3km from the beach, small Tuk Tuk ride or a pleasant 30 mins walk, the place is picturesque, and the rooms are spacious and lovely, the pool was brilliant for an early morning swim, we ended up eating there every evening as the food was so good, try the house special prawn curry , you will not be disappointed, breakfast was also excellent with proper bread / toast! the best of the holiday. What also makes this place so special are the staff, from the attentive waiters Cyril and Anura, the wonderful chefs , hotel manager, and friendly cleaner, a real credit! Also thanks to the owner Dale who was so welcoming, we would love to return some day. Nothing

However, they were really accommodating and stayed open to serve dinner later than they would usually have done. The food was fantastic - It was undoubtedly the best curry we had in our whole trip. Definitely recommend!

We had a fab sunday lunch and spent the day in and around the pool. The food was top notch. The staff were great. Ended up staying until late evening. Definitely a recommendation too all. • 808259Chris (10/5): You must visit the Asian Jewel Boutique Hotel - Asian Jewel Boutique Hotel Kath and I stayed at the Asian Jewel Boutique Hotel Hikkaduwa from the 28th of December till the 9th of January . The Hotel is spotless and the grounds are beautifully maintained , the pool is cleaned every day , there are comfortable sun beds with pads and towels are provided . The food is beautiful both a selection of traditional Sri Lankan and western dishes . The food is freshly cooked by wonderfully confidant and skilled kitchen team . You can even have Sunday lunch should you wish we had it it was brilliant We had the Jasmine room which was well appointed with a lovely veranda overlooking the lake which is situated next to the hotel . It was wonderful to see a beautiful selection of parrots king fishers being our morning visitors Dale the owner greeted us on arrival with complimentary drinks the staff could not do enough for you . Dale arranged a fantastic trip to Ella taking in the local National Park which was wonderful seeing a host of animals in their natural environment Crocodiles Elephants Water Buffalo Mongoose Hawks , Eagles to mention just a few . Dale sorted all transfers for us from airport . We had the most amazing New Year at the Riff Hotel well worth a visit for the sunsets Dale and his team are fantastic , big thank you to Cyril VJ Anura Chandana Suba Panditha Sisara Jayaniha We are booking up to return same time next year the weather was fantastic , and the people are just amazing they smile all the time which is uplifting in itself check out the Asian Jewel it’s a Dimond well and truly worth the visit . The staff are truly amazing, they cannot do enough for you. I felt like a VIP! The rooms are lovely and cleaned daily, with various towel art waiting for me each day. I couldn’t wait to go check out my room each day and see which towel animals were waiting for me. The pool and the grounds are just beautiful, I loved the bell next to my sun bed for when I needed service… such a lovely touch. The food was also amazing here. It was so good that I hardly ate anywhere else on this latest trip to Sri Lanka! Not only do they serve some beautiful and tasty Sri Lankan dishes but if you fancy a Shepherds Pie, a Sunday roast or other British home comforts whilst there you’re in the right place. The hotel is owned by Dale, a lovely English guy that knows all you need to know about trips, transport and just general advice on the area… He checked in on me everyday to make sure I was ok. I’ve never felt so looked after and I will definitely be returning. I would highly recommend Asian Jewel Hotel. The attention to detail, the attentive staff, the stunning food and beautiful grounds/views were faultless. Thank you Dale, you and your amazing staff made my latest trip so special! The grounds and pool are just beautiful and the garden staff work really hard at keeping it immaculate. The waitors couldn't do enough for us & were always super polite and attentive. We even had a bell next to our sunbed to call for service, which was a really nice touch. The rooms were cleaned daily. We had fresh bed linen and incredible towel art arrangements waiting for our return. The food was by far the best that we'd had in Hikkaduwa and we had tried many restaurants. The menu is varied from beautiful Sri Lankan dishes to exceptional English classics. We even had a full Sunday roast and it was superb. The hotel is owned by a lovely English guy and he was always on hand if we needed anything, advise, trips, transport etc and made sure we weren't overcharged. He checked in on us everyday to see if we were ok and had everything we needed. We felt really looked after and we will be returning. I would highly recommend Asian Jewel Hotel. The attention to detail, the attentive staff, the stunning food and beautiful grounds/views were faultless. Thank you Dale, you and your amazing staff made our holiday very special. • Shobana (10/5): In short, the best hotel and restaurant in Hikkaduwa! - If you are looking for a calm escape with the nature as your neighbour, this is the place to be! The restaurant at the hotel is the best one according to us. This applies to any meal. The hospitality of the staff and service is impeccable. We genuinely have nothing to complain about. You have to visit this place!

Its run by Dale who is from UK and does a great job of making you feel at home. The staff are great and always happy to help with a smile to go with it. The pool is fab and so is the well maintained gardens. The view over the lagoon is great and there is many different birds and other animals to keep you busy all day. We asked Dale if he knew where to get dressed crab? and he said, he could sort it out for us, a couple of days later we had the best meal of the holiday at Asain Jewel, dressed crab, chips and salad, and some lovely Jumbo prawns. Highly recommend, the sunday roast was fab also. Back next year for some more, good luck to you all at Asain Jewel a well deserved 5 star rating.

• Stephen (10/5): - We spent six nights at the Asian Jewel and found it a wonderfully restful place to stay, with lovely gardens and a small clean swimming pool. We had the “Kingfisher” room which allowed wonderful views of the lagoon from the really large balcony. The restaurant offers really excellent Sri Lankan and western food. The special Sri Lankan curry is highly recommended. All the staff are very friendly and, most importantly, helpful. They accommodated all of our needs. While not actually hotel staff, the Tuk Tuk driver the hotel regularly calls, Chamindra, is wonderful too. Overall, truly a jewel in Asia.

Das war bis jetzt das absolute Highlight unserer schon 3 Monate Erfahrung in Sri Lanka. Die Gegend um den See ist ein Hit für Naturliebhaber und ein Ort der Ruhe und Entspannung,

• spedtrans (10/5): Exceeded Expectations - Lovely location away from hustle , Host and staff could not do enough always smiling. Need a tuk tuk as nowhere around to walk to but food and drinks all good and resonable price 300lrp to beach. Stayed in Jasmine room great for couples as it has a huge bath ,all rooms on first floor with no lift so could be a problem for some. Would return for sure.
• Catalin (8/5): Short stay - We stayed only two nights. Hotel is inland some 30 minutes walk to the beach. Beautiful surroundings and our room was amazing. We had one of these bath tubs near the windows with views of the lake. We stayed there off season and we were the only ones in the entire place, had the pool just for ourselves and really enjoyed it. This hotel has the best food we tried on the entire trip in Sri Lanka.
• Mette (10/5): Dejlig beliggenhed og god mad - Vi sov en enkelt nat på Asien Juwel og vi var ret vilde med stedet. Der var meget rent og pænt og restauranten på hotellet laver en meget lækker mad. Faktisk den bedste vi fik i Hikkaduwa. Virkelig sød betjening, fin pool, rene og fine værelser (dog er sengen lidt hård - men tag gerne det med) :-)
