Guest Reviews
- Patrick (8/5): - My only issue was that the toilet was very wobbly. It was very loose from the floor and felt like you would fall over
- Michelle (10/5): - Great spot for getting out early to Edwin Forsythe NWR. Things were rather simple but it’s a motel so expected. Staff were wonderful and attentive.
- Maryann (8/5): - Room was respectable. Could use a little update. Still, very comfortable room.
- PEDRO (6/5): - Overpriced for its location
- Christopher (4/5): Brutal stay - The place was old, dirty, and not well kept.
- Jim (4/5): - Made this reservation by mistake, it was a bit out of the way for me. I immediately tried to switch to another motel, but management refused to make a waiver and held me to the reservation. I know it was “non-refundable”, but there was plenty of time before the date for the motel to get more bookings.
Well, probably their issue is that not enough people book with them, because the place smells bad. The room was pretty clean, but there’s an odor of mold or mildew coming from somewhere. Structurally, the place isn’t great. Sound from neighboring units is very audible throughout the rooms. This place needs to be professionally inspected. One and done. Wont be going back there.
- Michael (8/5): - Decent place. Nothing great. Very attentive to your needs. Pleasant and friendly. Would recommend
- Kerri (6/5): - We only needed a place to sleep so for us it was perfect. The price was great and it suited us. If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel with amenities you’ll be paying hundreds of dollars. This place was cute, quiet and close to everything we needed. I would’ve given it 5 stars but I didn’t want to mislead anyone. There was a musty smell when we walked in but the air conditioner on and by the time we got back the smell was gone. If you are just looking for a quiet place to sleep and ur low maintenance …this is perfect. Staff was very very nice.
- Charles (6/5): - Basic accommodations
Dated and small for the price
- Claire (10/5): - Great place, clean, quiet, reasonably priced
- Cory (6/5): - Wasn’t a bad room. There was black mold on the wall in the shower.
- David (10/5): - Nice owners, decent property, great area!…
- Chester (8/5): Still a good bargain - This is my second year staying here. Last year Summer 2024 the place was AAA status with all things excellent.
This year 2025 I bring there rating down To a “B”
the price for the room is very good and very affordable. However, I noticed that there is a need for regular maintenance. Bathrooms need to be caulked, outside carpets have stains, railings and bannisters need to be cleaned, and there needs to be painting upgrade.
The employees are very friendly and helpful.
- Daniel (8/5): - We liked our stay: friendly, clean, quiet, a nice recently renovated room with mini fridge. I dock a point off because the mattress wasn't all that comfortable.
- Carol (8/5): - Trash can was not emptied
It was full
Bathroom sink was not scrubbed clean
Only one light in bathroom over toilet
No room cleaning service
Items left in bag on outside door handle
Shower assist handles were away from wall
Caulking was old and dried out
Key card did not work after first use
Office re-set it
Was an experience
- hilda (10/5): - Fast
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Bed was comfortable and clean. Shower had hot water. The staff was very friendly. Toilet had a slight leak and their solution was to wrap towels around it. Did see one bug in the bathroom that I’m not sure what it was. It was an ok place to stay for the price but very dated. You get what you pay for.
- Mark (6/5): Was ok - Cute place but needs to be overhauled.. not very clean. Carpet was sticky
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Accommodations were modest but clean.
- Thomas (10/5): - Very nice place
- Nancy (6/5): - Location was close to where I was traveling. Average hotel room stay
- Phil (10/5): - The hotel is very reasonable for the price compared to others.
The man at the front desk is so nice, sorry i didn't get his name.
I think the check in part is where he lives.
The room is comfortable and nice. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Mini fridge and microwave.
If needed i would stay here again.
- Kerry (8/5): - Kind owners/staff
- Anthony (8/5): - nice place
- Eugene (6/5): Wanted to like it more - This motel was a good price in a good location; the staff was friendly and the room was clean. Unfortunately my dad and I both woke up with sore backs from the beds; in addition the bathroom can use some attention. I wanted to give this motel a better rating because overall its a nice place at a good price, but because of the beds and bathroom condition I could not.
- Bernard (6/5): - …
- Beatriz (6/5): - It was good for one night, we went to a wedding in town and needed a place to sleep. The room had a very strong odor of cleaning products, overall it's an okay place.
- Nancy (8/5): - Close to Smithville. You can walk there!! Quiet. Rooms were clean.
- MARY LOU (10/5): - It was a basic room at a great price.
- Ayanna (8/5): - Great stay. Clean property and very quiet.
- Ellen (6/5): - Looked clean initially ,but just cleaned on the surface. There was a bunch of hair in &around the bathroom sink. The bathroom had a lot of hair on the floor.the room had a musty smell. On the upside the sheets were clean & the bed was comfortable.also the price was right.
- PEDRO (8/5): - The staff is approachable and kind.
- Joseph (8/5): - This was a cost-effective stay for work overnight.
- Jake (8/5): - This hotel was very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful with my questions. The bed and water pressure was nice. The only “issues” were the smell when first coming into the room which is easily fixed by opening the windows and sometimes the sink didn’t turn off fully and kept leaking. Overall very nice place to stay and would definitely come back. 8.5/10 stayed 2 nights
- CECILIA (10/5): - Nice and quiet, clean, easy to find..thank u!
- Owen (8/5): - Overall the hotel room was very good value for the price. The bed was extremely comfortable, the pillows were great, the sheets were clean and crisp. Nice large wall mounted tv. The cons were the walls were in need of painting/repair, one light fixture in the ceiling above the bed was broken. The bathroom was slightly dingy with dim lighting. The front door key card took multiple times to unlock the door, and the tv picture would freeze while the audio sound kept going. If you can overlook a few things, and only want a comfortable bed to sleep for budget price, this place is fine. 30 minutes drive from both LBI and AC.
- Joanna (8/5): - Older property with some updates . Close to historic Smithville. No pool or exercise facility. Like an old fashion motel. Has frig and microwave. Run conservatively.
- William (10/5): Comfortable stay! - The room was clean and comfortable. The only issues I had with the room were, you could hear the people in the room above us walking around sometimes. Also, when we first entered the room, there was a strong pine oil scent that disappeared after a couple of hours. But overall, the 2 night stay was comfortable and I would stay there again if I am in the area!
- Joey (10/5): - Great value, nice place!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Musty smell in room - Room was unacceptably musty smelling.
- Sam (8/5): A fine place to stay - Decent place to stay for travelers on a budget. The room smelled a little like mildew, but a few minutes with the door open and the air conditioner running took care of that for the most part. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and the people behind the front desk Were very nice, accommodating, and attentive.
- Joycelyn (10/5): - Nice
- Brian (10/5): - Love this place
- Catherine (10/5): No frills but a good stay - No frills hotel. Room was clean and we had no issues the 3 days we stayed for.
- William (10/5): - Had a nice stay. Very clean and quiet
- Tatiana (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Chester (8/5): - The room was clean, and daily room service was very good. Does not offer a pool, gym, and business area, but the rate indicates that. A great value for a place to use as a sleeping quarters, when all the extras of the big motels are not needed. Restaurants, shopping store, gasoline stations and convince store within walking distance. I will use this place on future visits.
- Phil (6/5): - The room was clean but did have a musty smell due to humidity. The maid staff made sure we had fresh towels everyday.
For the most part the place was quiet.
- Stephen (8/5): - Very clean and peaceful. Village for dining close by. Easy access to local roads to go to Atlantic City, Cape May and other shore towns. Relatively inexpensive compared to other options.
- Mara (8/5): - Great stop for a quick overnight stay. Clean, friendly staff, quiet. Good value for the reasonable price. Would stay here again.
- Sheila (8/5): - good location
- Sean (10/5): - Clean quiet
- Sean (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- Wayne (6/5): - Easy access
- HENRY S (10/5): - Good stay
- Brian (10/5): - Always a safe stay
- Edwin (10/5): - Great place I recommend and I will definitely be back in the future
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful - The hotel was clean, the owners were very nice and friendly and it was close to everything that we planned to do. This hotel is a hidden gem and everyone should know about it. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
- Christina (10/5): - Very spacious room, clean, quiet, very comfortable mattress; in walking distance to the quaint historic Smithville village and close to great birding spots at the Forsythe wildlife refuge.
- ana (10/5): - Great place .smell good very clean and EVERYTHING in the room works..will stay anytime 😊 👌
- Cynthia (10/5): - This place is a great economical option if you want to visit historic Smithville, the wildlife refuge or take a 20 minute drive to AC. Walking distance to Smithville. They did not have an ice machine or hand towels but otherwise clean , friendly, and updated. Would stay again
- Scott (8/5): - Great inexpensive spot close to the beaches and city.. room was small but cozy, all the essentials in a small space. Definitely a great choice for 1 or 2 night stay!
- Douglas (10/5): - Clean quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad for a quick stay - A cute place with pleasant check-in. Room was nice but a few flaws. No hand towels, hair on the 'clean' sheets and no ironing board. Great for a in expensive 1 night but would not stay longer.
- Kim (10/5): - Private and clean, with comfortable beds. This is a solid place to stay, convenient to the wildlife refuge, cute shops and good food.
- Mark (10/5): - Great!
- Joanne (8/5): - Stayed 1 night. Basic room, no frills but clean w/ comfy bed, good value for the price.
- Art (8/5): - .5 miles walk or drive to Smithville Village Shoppes and restaurants
- Michael (6/5): - Overall, a decent place for one night or two. I stayed one night with no major issues and had a good nights sleep.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - I have stayed at this motel several times previously. It is always a good, clean, convenient place to stay at a reasonable price. As a birder, this motel provides easy access to the Edwin B. Forsythe NWR. Also, it is close to Barnegat Lighthouse State Park and Stone Harbor Point which are other great birding hotspots.
- Georlyn (10/5): - Property looks brand new. Room was very nice, heater was great and shower had pressure. Will definitely stay again!
- Daniel (6/5): - The provided soap (two bars) was of such cheap quality that the moment I unwrapped it, it crumbled in my hand. Toilet flushed, but you had to hold the handle down.
- Ann (8/5): - This is a motel very close to Smithville village. It is clean and comfortable, but shabby in places (peeling/discolored paint). A coffeemaker is provided with complimentary packets of cream, sugar and fake sugar - but no coffee). Fortunately, there is a WaWa very close by. The price is reasonable.
- Paul (10/5): - The staff were outstanding. We had an "our fault" booking problem, which was resolved in a very customer friendly, professional manner. The accommodations were first rate as were the amenities. Great location.
- Ricky (8/5): - This was our second stay at this hotel while visiting Historic Smithville Village over Black Friday weekend. This time as before we had aground entry room that was clean and comfortable especially for people with health issues. Very likely to stay again.
- Antwan (2/5): - Nothing worked in my room ,filthy shower ,
- Robert (6/5): - Liked the size of the room .
Didn't like that there was no handicap type grab bar near toilet.
Also room microwave and refrigerator in the way of coat hanging area.
Also TV remote did not feel clean.
- george (6/5): Nothing special - Floor was uneven by ac unit - bathroom has no heat and cold. Room temp was difficult to maintain - I loved the very firm foam mattress but wife did not. Neither here nor there but I arrived early but was only allowed to secure room - couldn’t get key until after check in… get that - but could have still given us the key as we were on our way to smithville and it wasn’t that far from checkin
- John (8/5): Lilred wedding - We were pleased overall with our stay. A couple of small issues were quickly addressed. Room was a little dated but very clean and comfortable. Staff was very courteous and efficient. Would stay here again.
- Deborah (10/5): - Like if you could ask. Add more coffee cups
- John (8/5): Good Value - Room was clean and good for the price. some things could use to be updated. Lighting was bad for wife to do makeup and hair. Otherwise good value.
- Tatjana (6/5): - Very clean and good value
- Joan (10/5): - Close proximity to where we needed.
- yonathan (10/5): - I love the place,nice people
- yonathan (10/5): - Loved
- Tatjana (8/5): - Nice front desk staff,I worked late and checked in at 10 pm, I appreciated late check in.
The place is clean and good value.
I would be interested if they would reduce nightly rates if I stayed here 12 nights a month long term?
I am a physician who works at several hospitals in the area and will be in this area for a few years.
My primary home is in PA and I commute 4 nights a week and stay here in NJ about 3 nights a week.
The only thing I would suggest is that they place a sign about no loud noise, parties or loud phone calls after 10 pm, since the nice gentleman next door who was super gracious and kind, but talked for a while on the phone till 10:50 pm and I have another 5 am wake up call for another 24 hour shift.
It is not the fault of the facility. It is just a suggestion.
Thank you much.
I am from PA and find Jersey Shore so expensive and will take any coupons and offers.

- Robin (8/5): - Cute and well msintained
- jamie (10/5): - Excellent experience
- jamie (10/5): - Excellent
- Christopher (6/5): It is what it is - Air conditioning had two settings, arctic and off. Bathroom was falling apart and the floor was painted where the tile ran out. The one light’s cover was broken and the exterior was unkept.
- Rich-Iris (6/5): - Last minute getaway to AC. Found this property on Expedia and reviews were decent. Outside property and room were exactly as depicted in the site photos. Room was dated but cute. What was not cute was the musty/moldy odor in the room. Luckily i had a can of Febreze spray in the car. We sprayed the room and the smell went away. Left for a few hours and returned back to our room. The smell was back and again came out the can of Febreze. Sprayed the room again, the pillows and sheets. Smell came back while we slept. Left the can of Febreze for housekeeping. Probably need to rip out & replace the old carpet, replace the curtains, mattress, heck do a whole property renovation and bring everything up to date.
- Jimmy (8/5): - Bat olor
- PEDRO (10/5): - Super clean!!! Close to AC, Smithville and local restaurants.
- Anthony (10/5): - Quiet area with nearby convenience
- Stephanie (8/5): - Property is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.
- Joey (10/5): - They are so nice there. And the price is amazing for the area! Very basic, but for that price, very good.
- Ingrid (6/5): - Rooms are large for a standard suite. Very clean. Basic room with microwave and fridge.
- Vicky (8/5): - Good experience
- Heather (2/5): - The staff was very friendly, However we only got the place here because it came up under Smithville Stays . It was $129. a night for what said a luxury suite. When we got there the 1st thing you do is smell the mold right from the from the door. The lighting fixtures were plastic and broke with holes and cracks . The bathroom mirrors were completely rusted around the whole glass they look terrible . The shower fixtures were broke - the move right off the wall . The toilet isn’t bolted to the floor so if you sit on it it rocks back-and-forth. There is mold everywhere. Under the air conditioner they are running up the wall . We were very unhappy because what it says is not what you get . If we would have did a walk in the price says $58.
It was my boyfriend’s n I anniversary so I didn’t want to ruin it . I booked everything so he wasn’t involved. He immediately wanted to get us a upgrade somewhere else . The only problem was by the time we checked in and had dinner reservations at the The Smithville Inn we would have lost the time and had to cancel what we already had planned . I got my boyfriend to agree to stay . The good thing is we only changed and left to start our itinerary . By the time we got back we had a blast out and also had some wine at dinner so we forgot our situation at the “ Village Inn / Suites - Once our night ended out we returned to the room - We woke up to roaches on the floor and in the bathroom - we told the staff they said they know . Thank you
- Daniel (10/5): - The Room was large and clean. Very Good Cable channels available.
