Guest Reviews
- Vyacheslav (10/5): - Nice motel in good area and location
- Kevin (8/5): - Old school, drive up motel. Very retro, but brings about the vibes of a pleasant nostalgia. Room was clean and serviceable. Limited amenities, but Tim’s was only 5 minutes away for morning coffee. We enjoyed sitting out with a beer, watching the sun set over the Spanish River.
- Taylor (6/5): - Expensive for what it was, an old motel that needs some serious renovation. Parts of the room had been renovated but lots of things were left in likely original condition and cracking and falling apart. At the price point you’re better off staying elsewhere for less, or somewhere nicer for the same or a little more.
- Jodi (8/5): - If you are looking for a Hilton, keep going. If you are looking for a clean, quiet and comfortable bed, give them a shot. Absolute beautiful view of the Mississagi River
- Michael (10/5): - Comfortable, convenient location
- Neil (10/5): - Old school, vintage highway motel, operated by thw same family for nearly 80 years!
- Yevhena (10/5): - We stayed just for one night there. Everything was ok. Next time we'll stay for longer 😉.
We went fishing across the street.
I liked the very friendly staff at the reception🔥🙂
The main thing for us was that we could stay with our dog 🐕❤️there

- Tierra (10/5): Book MacIver !!! - Suprisingly Pleasant!!! We are from Atlanta, Ga came to visit family on the reservation for a week on an unplanned visit, the motel gave a cabin feel with the lake right across the street omg!!!! most beautiful scenery to wake up to. The staff was sooooooo accomadating . Will book again for sure.
- Jeff (8/5): - Nice view of the river across the road. Very friendly staff.
- Deborah (10/5): - I stay at McIvers every year when I make the trek across the country to see family.
Always a good stay. Clean, comfortable, and the staff is always helpful and courteous.
They are pet friendly too which I appreciate.
Bonus, Tim Horton's is only 5 minutes down the road, lol.

The bed was SUPER comfortable and I appreciated the fridge, microwave, and tv. I would definitely stay there again! Highly recommend.

- Lesley (10/5): - Maciver’s is a wonderful place to stay. It’s our go-to any time driving up the North Shore. Modest, private, local and with deep roots in the Blind River area. A treasure.
- Ed (10/5): - We were travelling thru the area and stayed one night as planned. The staff was friendly and suggested dinner options in the area. The accommodations were as expected...clean, quiet room at a reasonable price. An available hair dryer would be appreciated.
- Jaime (10/5): - Very clean room, good amenities (Small fridge is pretty cold, in contrast to other motels’, whose units are just slightly cool.), and well-kept premises. Liked my room’s lakeside view. A unique experience in my hotel/motel stays is the friendly innkeeper at this location. As well as the owner’s son even sending a welcoming email when you book. Talk of great personal touches.
- Grace (10/5): - I read previous reviews stating that the rooms are tired: not true. Experienced perhaps - clean, comfortable, and in very good repair. It's like time stopped for the MacIver property!
This place is a great value. You won't regret staying here.
- Nicole (10/5): - Convenient and beautiful.
- Anna-Lisa (8/5): - Easy to find, affordable stopover on your way up north.
- Christopher (8/5): - Older, but cute little motel. We had a room in the back so no highway noise. Had difficulty connecting to wifi, called and had help at the door in minutes (our fault - wifi was great). Beautiful area with a short drive into town for food.
- Larry (6/5): - Location was great. Check in was easy and friendly. Room wasn’t the cleanest. There was dog food or cat food on the floor from someone else’s stay earlier. It’s dated. Only 1 small garbage and it didn’t fit much and no extra bags. No ice machines. The owner is very nice and friendly. I would stay again just for location but it should be a little cheaper.
- Sandra (10/5): - Easy check. Renovated rooms. Comfy bed.
- Peter (10/5): - The staff were very friendly, helpful, and made sure everything was good for my short stay. The room was clean and just what I needed.
- James (8/5): - Rooms are older style but well keep up. Rooms were clean.

- Tom (10/5): better than I expected - Arrived at 8.30 gentleman in the office had everything ready to go gave me an option of two rooms bed and bedding very neat and clean only thing that was missing in the morning I noticed i had no shampoo in the room (very minor concern)
- Rob (6/5): - Although it was clean, room was in need of renovation(water leaks and previous water damage)
- Achinta (8/5): - Great neighborhood, pet friendly place
- Vitezslava (10/5): - Mr. MacIver is very pleasant professional.
It has been for me recurrent stay in his cozy motel. It is always pleasure to come back!

The room was older but very well kept and the bed was comfy.
It's apparent that they upgrade furniture, bedding, etc. on a regular basis.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful views across from the river!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very quick and the owner was very freindly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Kind and courtious staff
- CindyS (10/5): - We got in really late (about 5:00 a.m.) and called to advise them ahead of time that we were running really late. They told us what room we were in and where we could find the key. When we got into our room, I found a note from Tyler MacIver thanking us for staying with them and wishing us a good night with the wifi password. It was really nice to find that note, especially after a long drive, driving through the night. The bed was comfortable with 4 great, really fluffy pillows. The room was tastefully decorated with nice art prints on the walls; it was a bit small, but not a big deal. We got a Queen bed and the room had a fridge, flat screen TV and a coffee maker in it - but the actual coffee pot was missing lol. There is no A/C but there is a ceiling fan which kept the air circulating nicely. Just a side note, there is no small shampoo, conditioner or lotion bottles (like you would find at a hotel chain) and no hangers in the closet. Tyler was very friendly and the room was very comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area. Thank you!
- Erin (8/5): - Nice and quiet, just outside the town of Blind River. Dog friendly, clean rooms and its a family owned business. We had a small issue with our tv and they were quick to help and very friendly.
- Eileen (10/5): - The owner was very welcoming and friendly, our room was very clean, the property is well kept and a nice quiet place to stay.
I consider this place to be a hidden gem
The owner and his son were very informative and helpful with recomendations for restaurants, places to see.
It is very conviently located for travel to blind river, iron bridge, wlliot lake and spragge.
I will be back in the spring and plan to stay at maciver's
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Travelling solo so didn't need much room. The double bed was comfy, the rocking chair I really liked, a scenic river across the road - all made for a positive experience. My sleep wasn't disturbed by the occasional highway noise though some might be.
- Arja (8/5): - Older motel, but very clean..
Nice canpground with cottages to rent..
Also RVs,
