• Cynthia (8/5): - The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Did not appreciate the strong fragrance used in the cleaning or laundry products which made my eyes swell. There was one small window to open to try to dissipate.The description did not indicate restaurant closures, so no breakfast was available without a significant drive.

• Mary (8/5): All Inclusive Resort Luxury in beautiful nature - The front desk is especially friendly and helpful. The place is very much isolated if you are up to outdoor things outside the resort. I noticed a bit of wear and tear but overall the property and surroundings are beautiful. The mattress was a bit too hard but the room was spacious and had what we needed. Worth it if you plan to stay at the resort the whole time with all the activities.

Additionally, the hotel mis-billed us by over $500. We are working to rectify this now and I’m sure we will solve it, but that was big mistake.

The golf course had not opened yet for the season, and we took advantage by taking long walks on the cart paths. The gals at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. It was a good place to wind down and start our week-long vacation.

I received a call the day before our arrival to be notified that the Fifty44 restaurant was closed and that the heat in our designated room was out so they were moving us to another room. I appreciated the heads up for sure. It was a bummer the restaurant was closed because it is one of our favorites and we eat at least 2 meals there during our stay but, hopefully next year we can enjoy it again. The pool and hot tub were working which was great! And altitude is always a hit with the kids. Enjoyed our stay and will continue to book here going forward.

• Marguerite (6/5): - I was quoted a price, which was reiterated during the stay and when checking out was quoted another price and when asked about the difference was told there was an additional resort fee of $35/ night. When I responded that this was the first time I’d heard of a report fee, and for what, I was told it gave me access to an area not open to the public and free coffee. I said that it would’ve been nice if that had been told to me when checking in because I’d never used those facilities. The response was that that information was provided to me electronically when I’d booked the room and it was up to me to read those documents and acquaint myself with that information. To say that I was flabbergasted at such an attitude was an understatement. I won’t stay here again given the lack of care for me as a guest.

• Erik (6/5): - The Inn rooms could use some maintenance and better cleaning. The building itself is very nice with walking paths close by. The rec center, dining, and golf at the Dragon are the highlights but located across the street which is a short drive or walk.
• Mary (10/5): - We came here specifically to ride our bikes. Great location with so many awesome dirt trails. Nakoma is such an oasis in the mountains. It is more amazing than what we expected. The rec center is incredible. We wish we hadn’t ridden so hard the first couple days so that we would’ve had energy to go enjoy the pool. We are def coming back!

• Donna (8/5): - Beautiful area and lodge. The pool is real nice but you can’t bring your own drinks or food. If you are looking for a quiet pool, this is not the place since families bring their kids. Albeit, the kids had good manners (no screaming). Lodge room was clean and quiet which was nice.
• Deborah (2/5): Evacuated - We never got to make this trip. The hotel told us not to come because they were evacuating everyone due to a wildfire. I have had several exchanges with hotels.com to request a refund. They keep denying it because they can't reach Nakoma Inn to confirm---because they are all evacuated. Looks like a great place. We were looking forward to this getaway.

• DIANE (10/5): - I liked the property. It was a little remote but very beautiful and had many activity options. We did not have time to participate in the activities so we did not get the full benefit of them but the place was beautiful and felt very exclusive.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Bad customer service - Rude staff at check in. We were notified 15 min before we arrived that if we didn’t have reservation, the restaurant was fully booked out and would not be able to have dinner there. Very odd that they called me the day before to confirm the reservation for the room but didn’t say anything about needing reservations at the restaurant. This is a remote location and the only places to eat are about 30 min away. You think they would have notified us in advance but this just goes back to them having rude and unthoughtful staff. We really looked forward to dining on site. Turns out the restaurant was almost empty. We spoke to another person staying here and they said they were told the same thing but went to the restaurant and it was 1/4 full. Not really sure what the tactic was here, maybe they didn’t have the staff to run the restaurant? They said it was the same the night before as well. We couldn’t even get room service or take out and eat in the room. This was all very upsetting to us. For a high end resort to have terrible of service is the new normal now I guess.

I think they could have designed a more high end hotel given the extraordinary beauty of the golf course and the restaurant on the other side of the street.

The ad we chose definitely said breakfast!! Then, we go to the resort, which we had to pay a resort fee even tho we had no intention of using the facilities, there was no cook!!! I will say the lovely lady that waited on us was very proactive in getting someone in to cook our breakfast right away it was just a little discerning that we’re paying over $400 to sleep and cannot even get room service. I DI NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT!
• Marlon (6/5): - The room was dirty when we arrived Hair’s all over the place. Crumbs of food on the floor. There was never any staff there when we needed something. We had to pay fees for part of the property that we did not even use, which is unacceptable. Inconvenient location of restaurants and amenities.

• Nina (4/5): - We have stayed at the Nakoma every year in Dec. for a weekend since they opened (covid year excluded). We love the property and the amenities. The last two years have been less than acceptable. For two years straight the heat in our room did not work and they couldn't fix it and couldn't move our room because they only have 1 pet friendly room (not true as I saw 2 other families with pets staying at the hotel). Putting space heaters in the room and telling us to run them only if absolutely necessary since they are a fire hazard, in winter in a blizzard! In addition, this year the pool was closed as the heater wasn't working, ok I get it things happen, but then we go to get in the hot tub and the jets are pushing out cold water and the showers in the locker room don't work. Finally, we were sitting in the lobby with friends at 7 pm one evening enjoying the fire and xmas tree and were told that the lobby isn't a place to socialize. So, to stay for amenities isn't a reason anymore and also if we want heat and to bring our pet isn't an option either. I'm extremely disappointed and there is never an apology or offer of help or solution when I inquire about things not working. Looks like our time at this property is ending and will stay at another local hotel.

• Quincy (10/5): - Our room and the property are beautiful, the hiking areas are maintained and great for walking. We were disappointed we did not get to the Rec Center or the Lloyd Wright Facility, but will make it a to do on our next visit. The Shower in our room was particularly luxurious. The only item we could see being improved would be that the WiFi service in the Inn was spotty and unreliable, which was not a deal breaker for future visits, but coupled with the minimal cell service it would create an issue if we had needed it for business or communications during our visit, and it would seem an easy fix.

We were also charged a “resort fee” of $25 per day, which applied to nothing immediately in the hotel, but instead (apparently) a pool area up the hill that we had no interest in using since we were there to golf in the area. Also, the rooms were fine, but countertops were dirty… the granite or quartzite seems to have permanent stains. I tried to clean myself, but no luck. Staffing seemed minimal as well, which seemed incongruent with the pricing, which ended up being close to $300 per night. Love the area, but next time will look for other hotel/stay options.

Just a short 5 mile drive away from Graeagle that does not get backed up with traffic after the fireworks like California 70 does. Really enjoyed the Altitude pool and spa plus excellent dining at the Nakoma Lodge restaurant.

For dinner we ate in the bar and had yummy "small bites" instead of a full-on dinner. Great food and service. Very friendly!! Thye are putting in a coffee place with a market which will be a nice addition, since it is a rather remote location. We will be going back!!

This year was a bit rough since the heating was broken in our room in the middle of a winter snow storm and so they put a portable heater in our room which did not regulate heat well. Other than that the staff was great and the one night that the grease traps weren't frozen at the restaurant was delicious. We'll still come back just hope everything is fixed up by next year.

• Marcella (6/5): - The pictures online are so deceiving. There is no disclaimer that everything is closed. I brought nice clothes expecting a nice meals in the Lodge…it was closed…so was the bar. The only thing open was a cafe. Do NOT visit midweek or in the winter. Not only was dining closed on-site, it was also difficult to find food in the neighboring towns. I agree with others that the Inn is way to close to the main road. Our forest view was the parking lot. Online, it appears the Inn is a beautiful building with a pool… nope that is actually the recreation center down the road. The hotel is not nice at all!! The walls are poorly insulated and in room 207 there was a loud ticking noise coming from the bathroom fan all night. Pair that with a hard bed and pillows; sleep was elusive. I slept 5 hours over two nights. I needed another day off to recover from my vacation.

• Mario (10/5): Can't wait to come back - Amazing winter wonderland in a family and not busy at all atmosphere. Checked in and went immediately to check the Altitude Lounge/Activity Center, when we came back to get dressed for dinner, the allergies of my wife and kids started to act up. Room was cleaned except for the top of the wardrobe that looked like it haven't been wiped down in months. Cleaned it with a towel and some Lysol wipes that my wife carries for COVID purposes and that seemed to do the trick. Next morning the housekeepers did a thorough cleaning of the room after I mentioned what happened. Other than that the place is amazing, the people are the friendliest folks you will get to meet and you get to enjoy as much or even more as the priciest places in Truckee or Tahoe without the crowds. Can't wait to come back!

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Traveled to Graeagle for July 4th celebration with family. Needed a nice accomodation for the two of us and our two miniature schnauzers. Nakoma has several pet rooms located near the parking lot with access from a patio area. Brought our dogs crates/beds into the room and they were very happy and quiet both nights. We enjoyed the room and the wonderful air conditioning over the very warm weekend. The Inn has very nice rooms with comfortable beds. Enjoyed the Keurig coffee maker each morning. Didn't make it over to the restaurant across the street, but have eaten there in the past and would would recommend it. The Altitude Rec Center and swimming pool is great also. The Inn costs a bit more than other options, but it is really worth it!
• Verified traveler (2/5): - No air conditioning or hallway lights for four days. Extremely rude management and told to check out and given a small fan for small window for broken a/c. Very small rooms. We will not ever go back because of disrespectful management at “motel”.

• Robert R. (8/5): Lodge - Although the lodge is clean and in a nice location, any amenities probably have to be driven to. (Pool, restaurant etc.) Rooms are nice but hardly worth the price charged
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Advertised as forest view, but was primarily of the parking lot. Needed a rubber bathtub mat as was rather slippery and tub drained poorly. Facilities were clean, staff helpful, and had more than ample clean towels and toiletries. For the price, having HBO or Cinemax would have been nice. Overall a pleasant stay and would stay there again in the future.
