Guest Reviews
- Tracy (10/5): - Ok
- D. Eileen (10/5): Hidden Treassure - Our annual trip to Dixon Lake Resort was quiet, peaceful, and just what we needed for a small get-away. Love seeing the continual upgrades that make our stay more pleasant.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Excellent lakefront location. Clean with nice layout that had everything I needed.
- Laura (8/5): - Small, clean rooms on a lovely lake.
- Susan (8/5): - Pleasant place to stay. Love the layout and size of the room we had. We would have rated it higher if they would have had air conditioning.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Older Motel right on the water. No Air Conditioning, but they did have a ceiling fan and standing fan. Full kitchen.
- Barry (8/5): - Place was clean but very small
- Gary (8/5): - Loved the view of the lake. Bar b que and picnic tables were a plus.
- Craig (10/5): - Our room had been recently remodeled and was in great shape. The room was very clean and quiet. It's not a fancy place but a nice and comfortable place to lodge. It's only a short drive (7 minutes) to downtown Gaylord but still off the beaten track. We enjoyed our time at Dixon Resort and would recommend it.
- Bruce (10/5): - Really enjoyed the location and cabin feel
- Anita (10/5): - Lovely place on a small lake. Nothing fancy, but very cozy feeling.
- Steven (10/5): - This place was perfect. My son and I went on a golf weekend. It was the best place we could’ve stayed. I loved looking at the lake rather than a parking lot. Everything was perfect. Looking forward to staying there next year.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Living in the past - The location was great . The problem was the add said the room was 700 sq. feet it was about 300 sq. feet. The room needs a total upgrade . Wall sockets wouldn't hold a plug the doors need new handles and were hard to close . The sink and faucets need updating. Everything was old .It was like being in the 50's . The plus side was the tennets were very friendly. I would go back if the upgrades were done.
- polly (2/5): - We are mystified at why anyone could give this more than 2 stars. Room was so musty we had to open windows for a couple of hours. Fridge did not get cold, TV didn’t work, light fixtures were pulled out of exterior walls. Frightening experience. Call the health dept.

- Mike (6/5): - Nice property. We arrived late and we were scolded by the owner. Charged our credit card before we even arrived. Probably won’t return due to the rudeness of the owner. Doesn’t deserve our business. Plenty of places to tryout up north.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not so good, especially for the price. - Not so good. There were earwigs in the bathroom and kitchen. No air-conditioning, and it was quite humid and uncomfortable. The room smelled musty and gave me a headache. It is very dated, and the bathroom is the smallest I've ever seen. The bed sloped to the middle. After the first night we asked in the morning to get our money back for the second night but they wouldn't do it.
- Carola (10/5): - What a gem! Can't beat the location/views! We will definitely be back!
- Ronald (8/5): -
should of had a proper lockset on the front door.
- Tammy (8/5): - Beautiful view
- Sara (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay here. We were on our way up to the UP and stopped over for one night, but we’ll definitely stay longer next time. The hosts were very friendly and gave great dinner recommendations. I love retro style hotels and this one was a gem. Exceptionally clean and quite.
- sara (10/5): - My son and I stayed for a long weekend at Dixon Lake Resort in room #3. We absolutely loved our time at this cozy resort. I had my coffee outside every morning, enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. We went kayaking and fished every day we were there (caught a ton of fish). The rooms had a retro style, which we loved, and it had everything we could possibly need, such as: regular sized refrigerator, microwave, stove, sink, coffee pot, tv w/cable, and a tub/shower bathroom. Our hot water wasn't working the first evening, but the owners were extremely quick to fix this issue and it was fixed in a matter of just a couple hours. This place is a true gem, you can't beat the views, the lake is beautiful, and it's so peaceful. We will be back! Thank you for a great weekend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, good communication with owner, perfect for a simple getaway.
- Megan (10/5): Great little motel - I love staying at Dixon Lake - I've done so for last 4 years and it is consistently a perfect place for me to stay. It's tucked away in a quiet location, on a beautiful lake. Great for decompressing after a stressful day! Big rooms to accommodate a family, even a dining room table/work space, and plenty of space outside to have BBQ/picnic or play in the lake. It's quaint (1950s/1960s), nothing fancy, this isn't the Ritz, but always clean and always great service. They're so friendly and helpful! Strong Wi-Fi, decently stocked kitchenette, big fridge, and within 10 minutes of downtown Gaylord which has plenty of restaurants and shopping.
- Autumn (10/5): A Great decision to come here. - We are so happy we came here. It was cozy, clean and the hosts were so kind.
The view was so pretty. We enjoyed the fire at night and the calm of the setting.
We are already planning our next stay for summer.
- IRWIN (4/5): - Needs updating asap.
- Amy (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful and clean as a whistle!
- Lloyd (8/5): Dixon Lake Resort - Very good location not handy cap friendly
Very good view of Dixon Lake
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect - We had a great stay! Great location and the accommodation were perfect for what we needed. It is a cottage place so keep that in mind. But it was extremely clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again
- Terrance (10/5): - Quiet, clean, value and great view of lake
- Crista (10/5): - I did forget my Bath & Body Works Bag In the dresser drawer filled with car air freshners . On with my review. Place was clean. Beds were very comfortable. It was very quiet peaceful. THE view of the Lake was beautiful. Walked downstairs to sitting area. Firepit and picnic tables near them.Little boat too was seen. WE do plan on coming again to stay. Loved the Resturants in town also. Great Mexican resturant and breakfest place to. Eat both days downtown.
- Daniel (6/5): - Resort has great view of Dixon Lake and is in a quiet area. The resort itself needs some TLC. Electrical outlets are old and don't work well, toilet had minor issue with running. Overall, probably would not recommend
- Sharon (2/5): - The lady was horrible
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nope - Not impressed at all. Stairs to the water are dangerous. Shower was dirty. Bathroom smelled like urine. Mattresses need to be thrown out. You can feel the springs digging into your body. Could not even access the water. Never again!
- James (10/5): Hidden Gem! - Really enjoyed our last minute 4th of July weekend stay at Dixon Lake. The room had a beautiful lake view with all the supplies needed for our stay. The small lake was perfect for paddle board and floating and a small row boat was available for use. Looking forward to a return visit.
- Pam (10/5): - Quiet. Remite
- Robert (10/5): - We loved staying at this quaint place. It was Retro looking but it was very clean. You cannot replace the excellent view. Big refrigerator, Microwave, coffee and coffee pot. Dishes, silverware!!! We enjoyed Dixon Lake resort.
- Matthew (10/5): - They were great! And very accommodating of my requests.
- Erin (10/5): - The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The view of the lake is phenomenal. Quiet and peaceful property while located close to stores and restaurants. I’d book again if visiting Gaylord.
- Ronald (10/5): - Perfect getaway. Amenities for short or long stay. Really close to otsego resort, treetops, and downtown Gaylord.
- Bay (10/5): - This is such a wonderful vintage place! Plus friendly dog! Plus lovely couple who owns it. We loved staying on the lake, and hope to be back.
- Tomas (10/5): - The amenities were above and beyond. A kitchenette, dishes if you need them, an outdoor area with a fire pit, even a dock and a boat to go out on the lake and use. I highly recommend this place!!
- sara (10/5): - My husband and I booked this stay for our weekend getaway. It is a beautiful area, close to downtown Gaylord. We brought our kayaks and spent most our time on the water fishing. We caught some nice size bass. Rooms are a little outdated, but we didn't mind. No a/c, but it never got uncomfortably hot. We have already talked about booking our next visit. Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was a bit small but the price was not out of line for what we stayed in. The layout was nice and the scenery was excellent
- Jan (10/5): Restful - This restful location is quiet and peaceful yet close enough to the city of Gaylord so that you have everything you need! If we ever come this way again, we will definitely stay here!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall it was a pleasant stay. No air-conditioning in our room was a downfall but other then that it served us well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cabin was what we expected. I would stay there again.
- Alexandria (10/5): Cozy and comfortable - It’s a cozy cabin like room with a view of the lake. I loved it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beautiful view and Very quite. Sadly, our beds were extremely uncomfortable 😣 The steps down to the lake are dangerous and in need of repair. Cute motel but outdated.
- Devon (10/5): Great place to relax - Janet was very welcoming and the environment was nice and peaceful.
- Andy (10/5): - Great place with a homey feel. Laid back and beautiful property. I was in town for work training and paid half of what other people in my classes were paying and couldn’t have been more happy with the property and the owners. You have the feel of being in the middle of no where but you’re really just a short drive to anything you could want or need.
Great fishing off of the row boat. Caught my personal best smallmouth bass.
If I had to make one suggestion it would be nice to have a microwave in the room but that’s minor and I’ll be back for sure
- Susan (10/5): - It was a very relaxing visit. Great views of the lake, swimming was great, and a row boat for old style boating! Owner very nice. Our room was very clean! Great location for wine tasting, kayaking, and exploring. We will visit again!😊
- Mac (10/5): - My Wife and I loved this place. We stayed in the larger room with Efficiency stove, full size fridge and queen beds.
The rooms are older and dated but very clean. We appreciated the nostalgia. We found everything we needed. There was no AC but with the doors and windows closed, the room stayed cool even though the outside temps were upper 80's. The property is mostly shaded with picnic tables, charcoal grills and bon-fire pit. The water is 5' higher than the picture so there was no beach but we could swim from the dock. Water was clean. A rowboat was provided free of charge. Very close to Gaylord but far enough to be 'country'. If you like glitz and glam, its not for you. If you enjoy the outdoors and 'lake life' you will enjoy it.
- Candy (10/5): Cute little private place - Went up for a girls weekend. Owner was super friendly and helpful. Room was adorable and very comfortable. Amazingly comfortable bed!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dixon Lake Resort is on a very quiet, dead end road. It is very cute and older. Very clean and had what we needed for a late night check-in. The owner met us for check-in. She was kind and pleasant and proud of her family owned “home away from home”... as she should be. The view of the lake out the back door was beautiful and the water was like glass. The fall colors added to the beauty of the lake. We were provided with a hand drawn map with stores and attractions in the area. We would stay here again for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lake and fall behind the resort was just awesome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very comfortable and relaxing.weather was a little cool when we were there,so we didnt get to fish, but would recommend to anyone for a relaxing place with a beautiful view of the lake.
- Ryan (10/5): Good - Awesome place, would stay again!
- Eric (10/5): Retro lakeside paradise - A wonderfully retro lakeside motel. Funky combo stove/sink/fridge worked great. Did a lot of fishing from the dock, and took their rowboat out a couple of times. Almost caught about a 14 inch pike while casting a spinner off the dock. Free-standing, iron, grated, charcoal-fueled, picnic grill worked well for a couple of dinners. TV reception was great off the old-school roof-top antenna.
- Disappointed (2/5): - The place is very run down. They say it is a “resort” but it is actually a very low end motel. Horrible place, not clean at all. The sinks were stained and the shower head was stained/rusted and the water smelled so bad when we took a shower and there was only burning hot water that literally burned my skin. There was a stove and it was so gross, if you used it, you’d get some sort of infection. There was no air conditioning in 90 degree weather, we literally didn’t sleep the night because we were so scared of staying there and wanted it to be morning so we can just get out of there. Everything was sooo gross, never have I stayed in such a place. It was not cheap either, if I’m paying 100 bucks a night I expect it to be clean at the very least!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dixon Lake Resort was my first choice glad we stayed there. The lake got a little busy but that was to be expected it was 4th of July weekend Would definitely stay again
