• Giovanni (10/5): SE LA TUA META È PLAYA ENCUENTRO, DORMI QUA - Vivo a Santo Domingo. Vado in questa zona circa una volta al mese. Alloggio top per passare qualche giorno di surf a Playa Encuentro. Camere pulite e comode, prezzi super competitivi (considerato anche che l'aria condizionata è compresa e molti la fanno pagare a parte) e veramente nessun paragone con le strutture nella stessa fascia di prezzo. Bella piscina, tanto spazio, ambiente tranquillo e familiare. Cindy è un'ospite veramente molto gentile e simpatica, ma in generale tutto il personale contribuisce a creare un clima di accoglienza meraviglioso!

Close to a beach, shop and a food truck collection which was nice. Friendly and attentive family make it a really good relaxing place.

• Jannis (10/5): Exceptional - Super nice, cosy accomodation close to encuentro Beach with the surfbreak, supermarkets and a foodpark with amazing food are nearby as well :) the kitchen is big and very well equipped and Most importantly super nice staff as well! Definately recommend staying here, we had an awesome time! :)
• Hao (8/5): Not many places like this in the region now. - Location close to 2 different towns. You are also next to a good court with about 7 different kinds of foods. The street can get a bit noisy. My last night at 3 or so a sharp sound came from someplace near by but could not identify it at all. Encuentro Beach is about a mile away and it's one of the nicest beaches on this island. Family run so you feel like more a guest of a small inn than anything else. This time of year this region is fairly quiet. This year they were having construction done on some parts and between that and the weed whacker if you tend to need a nap random hours in the middle of day it's near impossible. Other wise this spot Is quite a nice little place. My sleep pattern means I do sleep mid day sometimes 2 different shifts for 2 hours. Not everyone will have this issue.

• Josephine (10/5): Exceptional - Really beautiful space, lovely hosts, lovely pool, warm & friendly atmosphere. Hosts are very attentive and respond quickly to all requests. The WiFi was excellent, despite some bugs due to a rain issue, when it was up and running it was more than enough to meet my needs working online. I was really happy I chose this spot and I ended up extending my stay because I felt very happy here. 100% recommend!
• Laura (9/5): very smooth and chill. - The owners are incredibly nice. The pool is also nice. Only one thing. My sensor to come back at night didn't work. These things can happen, but I suggest the guest to make sure the sensor works fine before going out at night. The owner came to open immediately so there was no problem.

• Zoe (9/5): Superb - I had a great time at gypsy ranch. Its family run, affordable, the room was basic but comfortable, and the hosts were lovely. Lots of friendly dogs and cats on property. Special thanks to Angelito who helped me out when I stepped on an urchin at the beach and took all the spines out of my foot! Im forever grateful :) Noise from the road/dogs/people in the morning. Just bring earplugs !

Kitchen didn't have much utilities, and it was dirty, with insects, also mosquitos everywhere in the room and bathroom - a million of them, not providing protection against mosquitoes.

• Jeremy (1/5): I was bitten, with malicious intent, by one of the dogs. The dog was allowed to remain free to roam. - Leaving the hostel. I was bitten by one of the dogs. It wasn’t a friendly bite. It was a vicious bite done completely unprompted. I was simply walking to my room when the dog attacked from behind. I had hoped the dog would be put away for the remainder of my stay, but it was not. Fortunately, I had begun carrying a stick with me when leaving the room because it charged again the next day. Had it not been for my threatening the dog with a large tree branch it would’ve bitten again. Some people have dogs that bite, some people own public hotels. You can’t have both. What terrified me as much as the possibility of the dog biting my wife was that the staff chose to do nothing with the dog after the initial attack.

• Auferrar (7/5): Good - Location is very good if you want to surf in Encuentro beach. Also, being on the main street makes it very easy to catch public transportation (Guaguas, motochonchos, carritos publicos, they all pass in front of the structure door every 5 minutes): in this way, you can get to Sosua, Puerto Plata, Cabarete, Rio San Juan in a very straightforward way. Staff is always nice, smiley and available at all time. The room has the basic comfort (+ a very useful mosquito net, I was not bothered by mosquitos at all!) The cleaning could be improved, having a lot of dogs around makes the garden needing constant check. It was getting smelly sometimes.

Nathalie and Cindy are very helpful and make you feel that you're at home. This is a very good spot for surfers because you are in a walking distance (a beautiful road) to the best spot for surfing in the area. I would recommend this place and would stay again.

• Sam (9/5): Amazing stay. Definitely book the rooms with the shared bathroom. The most friendly and thoughtful host. - There was a nice pool and a self-service bar and a roof terrace. the matras was not the best, but I’m a little heavy.

• Maria (8/5): Amazing host - Cindy is such a lovely host. She will respond to you as soon as possible. She made sure I found my way to the hostel. Upon arrival she was very helpful and giving me suggestions. She did warn me that the hot water was out in the shower I was sharing, but being in DR you really don't need hot water. She cooks breakfast for a fee. I ate twice and it was delicious. She has a bar and you can buy beer. She also has a small pool. I didn't use the pool, but it looked fun. Cindy went above and beyond with making sure I was ok, specially being a solo traveler. She even got me in touch with another solo traveler that was staying there. We talked about non hotel related things and she just felt like a friend. You can ask her how to get here and there and she'll take the time to contact the correct people and make sure you're taken care of. Her husband was helpful too. You should definitely consider staying here.

This place is for fun and relaxed people who like a family feeling atmosphere created by the Lovely and sweet family who owns the place. They keep everything clean, even with the dogs, cats and chickens in the place. They will help you in every step needed to have a good time on your vacation. I recommend this place, not for the snobs of this world, but for the fun and real people who like to feel the culture of a place, rather than its luxury.

• Paul (10/5): Great place! Highly Recommended! :) Super Hosts - We rented a room (with bathroom). The hosts were awesome. Ready to prepare us food or drinks and provide any information about the local areas. Its right on the highway so you can exit the front door and take a Guagua or motoconcho. It is more of a hostel style. Its not a fancy hotel. The rooms had 2 fans which more than adequate, electricity 24/7 and FAST!!!! internet. I needed to work while staying there and it was quiet (except for a chicken with attitude). Great for those who don't want to stay in Cabarete or looking for a super simple room at a stellar price with all the amenities.

Las habitaciones muy bonitas y limpias, todo el lugar en medio de frutales y unos felices residentes de 4 patas que te dan la bienvenida... Tienen una bella terraza con bar en frente de una acogedora piscina para compartir. Muy tranquilo en medio de la naturaleza pero sólo a 3 minutos del centro de Cabarete con sus restaurantes y bares. La playa está cerquita a pie sólo al cruzar la calle. Que más se puede pedir???
