• Michael (9/5): Perfect stay before starting to the islands - Central in chumphon. You have the night market and most major things right there in front of the door. The host was really helpful and nice, considering i forgot my keys and he open me the door at 3am in the morning.
• Leïla (9/5): Good stay at salsa hostel - The beds were really comfortable and everything was really clean. I've rarely slept this well in a hostel. it was also really quiet and the aircon worked great. Nothing to complain really. There are cats which for me are a plus but i guess if you're not into cats its something to consider. But they re not in the rooms obviously.

And indeed they tried, they asked me 200b but then I saw the price on the ticket as 100b. They refund you really fast saying "sorry sorry" 🤣🤣. Nothing to worry about but be careful.
• Jack (9/5): Quiet, clean, and well organized hostel! - Everything was awesome! Quiet rooms and area. Awesome location. Bikes for rent. They are located next to an affordable Thai restaurant that many locals eat at. The owners were very helpful with recommendations. Very clean and organized. Curtains covered all sides of the bed. Towel included, lots of showers and washrooms. Super close to the main night bazar. If I’m back in the area, I will definitely stay here again <3 :)

• ailen (10/5): Best hostel in chumphon - This is one of the best hostels I've stayed at in Thailand. ​SUPER clean, AC in the rooms, which are very comfortable by the way. Lockers. Bathroom with hot water. Lounge room with a TV, couches, and a fan on the first floor. They have a kitchen with everything you need to cook if you don't want to eat outside: fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and condiments. ​The owner is super friendly and willing to help you with anything you need: I arrived on the night train from Bangkok and was still able to check in (which is available until midnight). He also recommended a ton of places to visit in Chumphon 🫶 (he is originally from here, so he has the best insider tips). ​You can book ferries for the islands directly here and at reasonable prices. Plus, they will take you to the ports. ​Everything was wonderful 🤗 definitely the best place to stay here

• stephen (8/5): A short walk from the railway station. - Good location 10 minutes walk from the railway station and in the midst of the night market. Plenty of room in the air conditioned dormitory with the lower bunks having privacy curtains. All have reading lights and a power point. Lockers provided with plenty of toilets and showers for all. Host is extremely helpful and can book onward ferry tickets to the islands. Bar on site very reasonable prices. Free coffee on the morning. All good.

• Valeria (4/5): - The hostel is close to the station, and the owners can help with ferry ticket with the same price as the pitch. There are a lot of cats in the hostel, very nice and very friendly, but unfortunately all the common area smells a lot. The bathroom and the dorm are not bad, but it's difficult to stay elsewhere. All the structure is kind of old, and I also got bed bugs. Probably it was just bad luck, but it's not high season, so there are not many visitors at the moment (a was alone in the mixed dorm).
• Lilian (8/5): Gute Lage und nette Hosts :) - Zentrale Unterkunft mit sehr süßen Katzen und netten Besitzern, der Mann spricht sehr gut englisch. Das Zimmer war sauber und das Bett bequem :) Die Luft im Zimmer war nicht so super, nicht unbedingt für Asthmatiker geeignet.
• Craig (10/5): HIGHLY RECOMMEND...unless you dislike cats! - The dorm is spacious, clean and comfortable. Large lockers are outside the dorm. The cleaning lady does a very good job. The manager, Sood, is very helpful and informative. He also sells night boat tickets at the same price available at the pier. There was a faint scent of cat urine in the communal lounge...there are several cats residing here.

The facilities at the Hostel were very good, from the spacious room, comfortable beds, very hygienic place and lots of cute cats. It was amazing.

Basic toast breakfast (peanut and jam), with a good coffee, until checkout time too;) But since you have a stove top that you can use, you can just buy some eggs and boost your breakfast. Easy to walk to train station.

• Jiahui (9/5): Superb - One of the kindest host I’ve ever met. Sood got up let me check in at 5am, and kindly let me stay until I headed to the train station, 10:30pm. The housekeeper lady was also lovely. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Aircon works well. They provide blanket cover which rarely gets at other places. Perfect location, 7 min walk to train station, 2 min walk to 711, and night market on the same street. Sood helped me book a snorkeling tour which I truly enjoyed. Will stay again if come back to Chumphon. If lady’s bathroom can have hair drier would be awesome.

• Eva (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice hostel in the best and most central area of Chumphon town. Sood, the owner, is very nice and funny and has 8 really cute cats and also very good advice as to what places to visit in the area. You can also rent a scooter directly at the hostel!

• Elisabeth (10/5): Exceptional - This is a great hostel, as everyone I only stayed one night and was very happy with my choice. The female bathroom was very clean, the bed was comfy, the AC worked well and I even got a small breakfast (2 toasts, peanut butter, jam, coffee and bananas). There's definitely a little cat smell on the first floor, but since you only walk through there it bothered me just a tiny bit.
• Jackie (10/5): Superb value stay in Chumphon - This hostel is in a perfect location for the walking street, restaurants, 7/11's, shops, etc. in Chumphon. It's also only 500m from the railway station... we planned to walk or get a grab but the owner took us in his car for free when we checked out. There are shared cooking facilities but we didn't use them. There is a nice seating area facing the street, which is useful. There is tea/coffèe and bananas available there. We booked the en suite double which was super comfortable, quiet, 2 pillows each and a soft mattress which is a rare thing in Thailand! We had a fridge, kettle etc etc Value for money this just couldn't be beaten. We loved the cats 🐈 Chumphon itself is a nice wee town and I think it deserves more attention than being just a jumping off point for the islands. We liked this place so much we booked it for our return journey through Chumphon. Everything was great, the room was perfectly clean but had a musty aroma, I think it could be from the air con unit? Perhaps this needs a service? Also the plug in the bath doesn't fit.

• Valderrey (10/5): Incredible stay - I went there for one night and then get into Koh Tao, but I really liked Salsa Hostel and Chumphon. So, then I stayed here for four more days. The manager speaks perfect English and he’s very kind. He’ll help you with anything you need to know about the area. The rooms and everything is very clean. Kitchen and breakfast is available. You can also rent bikes and motorbikes. Laundry service for a free. Thank you very much!!!

Host is friendly and efficient and booked me in straight away and made me real coffee in the morning and also booked my onward destination to Koh Tao. The dormitory was big enough with privacy curtains, comfortable bed with 2 electrical connectors and a light. Shared toilet and shower down the hallway, free water and dormitory air conditioning, free Wi-Fi. Sells beer at 7-Eleven prices and motor scooter hire. I spent an enjoyable 3 days here and this is my second stay. All was excellent.

• Jelle (8/5): Hostel is great, just a lot of cats - Just a very nice hostel and a very nice host. Be aware of the fact that there a lot of cats in the hostel. I'm allergic and it was not mentioned. For the rest the hostel is really great.
• Thom (9/5): Superb - Lovely hostel with lovely helpful staff! If you need any needs, just ask! I had a lovely stay and would love to return if I stayed in Chumphon again. Thank you! Nothing actually, but for the guests that don't like cats, there are a few lovely cats living in the hostel. So if you don't like that, don't book, as it states in the description as well.

• Xania (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, if not basic, hostel in the center of the city and walking distance from the train station - but has everything you need. I appreciated that there were separate showers and bathrooms for men and women, and the whole hostel was cleaned daily. Rooms were comfy with privacy curtains, small living room space with TV, and a kitchen you can use downstairs (huge plus!). As others have mentioned, Sood the owner may seem a little gruff at first but he’s a very nice guy and is super helpful. He can connect you with anything you need in the area and provide great recommendations. Very pleased with my stay. I ended up extending to stay 4 nights. Nothing.
