• mara (9/5): - Alle porte di Matala (se siete in vena potete raggiungerla a piedi, se siete stanchi prendete l'auto), l'appartamento in cui siamo state è un distaccamento dell'albergo, poco lontano, che lo gestisce e ne garantisce i servizi. Ampio, luminoso, accessoriato di tutto, è dunque un compendio di casa e hotel dove, volendo, si può restare a lungo usufruendo di tutte le comodità, dal parcheggio alla ricca colazione alla reception 24h. Per una sola notte è persino uno spreco, ma ci è stato funzionale. Come in ogni albergo del genere, l'impersonalità rende il soggiorno alquanto "freddo", ma non lo si può nemmeno considerare un difetto.
• Isabelle (9/5): Wunderbare 2 Wochen... - ... auf Kreta, in Matala, im Matala Bay im Style Apartment. Das Apartment (ebenerdig) war sehr groß, war ganz gut ausgestattet und ruhig, von den anderen Bewohnern oben drüber bzw unten drunter, war nichts zu hören. Der Privatpool und die Terrasse sind einfach traumhaft. Der Pool wurde täglich gereinigt 🏊‍♂️ Die Lage fanden wir persönlich auch super, bisschen weg vom Trubel. Ja, es ist ein kleiner Weg zum Frühstück und Strand, wenn man gerne läuft oder auch einen Mietwagen hat, ist dies gar kein Problem 😉 Das Personal war immer freundlich und hat jeden Wunsch erfüllt, ob eine weitere Decke, einen Topper fürs Bett (die Matratzen sind sehr, sehr hart, sagen auch Menschen die gerne hart liegen) oder Ameisenmittel für die Terrasse 👌 Das Frühstück war frisch und lecker, es gibt verschiedene Auswahl 😋 Vorweg möchten wir sagen, wir (inkl. Eltern) haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt 😍 Die Terrasse hat keine Beschattung am Nachmittag. Der Schatten vom kleinen Sonnenschirm bei den Poolliegen reicht kaum für 2 Liegen und liegt am Nachmittag so, dass man nicht drunter liegen kann. Wenn die Sonne am Nachmittag auf den Beton knallt, brütet man dort 🥵 Wir haben das Zelt von unserem Strandsonnenzelt gespannt, was gut funktioniert hat und so war es auch nachmittags gemütlich am Pool 😎 Die tägliche Abwechslung beim Frühstück hätte mehr sein können. Die Koch-Ausstattung in der Küche war vorhanden, aber recht gering. Es war schon herausfordernd für 4 Personen zu kochen (Frühstücken war weniger das Problem). Aber es hat funktioniert 😉 Alle Türen klemmen ein wenig und können kaum leise geschlossen werden 🤫

• przemek_o_123 (7/5): - Very friendly service, good breakfasts. Spacial apartment. We booked an apartment with breakfast. We didn't receive any information on how to get there. It turned out that there was only a brief description somewhere in the details. We had to pick up the keys at a hotel 700 meters away. Breakfast was also served there, so we had to go there every morning. The apartment was rather out of the way, on an uphill road, so we could hear cars. Cleanliness was average. Some things were worn out, e.g., the toilet seat. The decor was ascetic.
• Udo (9/5): Wir hatten als Familie einen rundum sehr angenehmen und gelungenen Aufenthalt in Matala. - Der private Pool war herrlich und die Sitzgruppe immer schon im Schatten. Super waren die zwei Bäder. Für eine vierköpfige Familie mit schon großen Kindern ist das sehr hilfreich. Die Crew war jederzeit sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Sehr angenehm! ???

• Alessio (6/5): Could be improved - The apartment is very spacious and comfortable for four people, making it a great option for groups or families. The pictures are a bit misleading. It should be clearly stated that the top-floor apartment does not have direct access to the pool, except for the one located at the hotel a few hundred meters away, which requires a car to reach. Additionally, it would be important to mention that breakfast and dinner, although included in the booking, are served at the hotel as well, so the same short drive is necessary.

• Mikeg13 (9/5): Superb - Facilities and an amazing super clean pool. Close to Matala bay but far enough to be quiet. Nice beds and showers. The 2nd bedroom did not have an air conditioner just a fan. Plumming was a bit old but worked fine.

• Geoffrey (7/5): Spacious apartment hard beds - Spacious, modern and clean with good air conditioning. Good breakfast at the hotel a drive down the road. Staff very accommodating and friendly. From the pictures and description it seemed we would have access to a pool onsite but we needed to travel about 800m by car to use the pool at the Matala Bay hotel (it is a nice pool) We know breakfast was at the hotel. The furniture is very cheap and the beds quite uncomfortable as they are rock hard and feel of the springs is obvious.

• Eleftherios (6/5): - The apartment was very spacious with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms with showers. Otherwise pretty basic. Not very close to the Matala beach or the Matala bay hotel which is where the pool shown in the pictures is located and where breakfast is served. It's more than 10 minutes walk, which is not convenient, especially during hot summer days. The main issue we had with the hotel is the behavior of the reception stuff (likely the owners). We arrived late at night after a long trip. We asked them to confirm another booking in the same property that we made for a couple of friends for the following day. They said that they don't see any booking, even though I showed them the confirmation with Expedia and told them that I have already paid for the 2nd booking. They said it's an issue with Expedia and that they could offer us a room at the hotel (instead of the apartments). We agreed on that and even double checked that the room is available around midnight. They reassured us that the room is available and suggested that we meet the next morning to get the keys. To our disappointment, the next morning, a different person at the reception said that there was a last minute booking of the room we were supposed to take and that he can't do anything about it!!! That's the most unprofessional behavior I have ever experienced in my life. Pretty sure that it's their standard practise to mishandle bookings.
• Daniel (9/5): Okay, we could use swimming pool in hotel freely, there were enough seabeds around the pool. - Nice breakfast, no problems with getting and returning keys, problem with broken chair has been fixed the same day. Good contact with the staff. Wifi didn't work as expected, we reported it to the staff, but was not fixed.
• Robert (9/5): Calm and comfortable with great value for money. - Really great apartment, clean and lots of space. Quiet area, nice to sit outside on the terrace in the evening and listen to the crickets. Very good breakfast included at the nearby hotel. Is 10-15 minutes walk from the beach, but on the other hand, you live in a very quiet neighbourhood and has lots of space. The beach is nice with ok snorkelling along the cliffs to the right. Sitting at the beach at sunset is a must. A rental car is highly recommended if you live here, as Matala is a bit remote. You should also make nice short roadtrips to nearby villages in the beautiful mountains, and enjoy some local food there! It would have been great had there been a microwave oven in the kitchen. Also, of course, the beach is a kilometer away, but that is a tradeoff you make.

• .ggrhl (8/5): For the first time 5.2 earthquake in my life - I can’t rate Matala Bay Aparts (the one we booked), because they asked us to stay in the hotel for one night. And than they gave us double room for 4 PAX. Our stay was okay, it was with breakfast and outdoor pool in the garden. The night was not so nice, because of the earthquake. But it’s not the hotel’s problem.

• Mark (10/5): Great apartment with easy access to Matala Beach - The apartments are only a 10 minute walk from Matala Beach. The 2 bedroom apartment was clean neat with comfortable facilities. Checkin /out is easy via the Matala Bay Hotel. The location is great. Easy access to all of Matala's wonderful shops and restaurants and quiet for sleeping. There is free parking for your car right at the apartment. Give the great Crete weather, the balcony with table and chairs made a great place for breakfast and evening relaxing. You also hve access to the hotel facilities as part of your stay. I would recommend this if you prefer an apartment to a hotel stay.
• Audrey (8/5): Parfait pour être au calme à Matala - Appartement pour 4 personnes, toutes commodités, avec 2 chambres 2 salles de bain, salon - salle à manger et cuisine, terrasse et jardin. Il se trouve à quelques minutes en voiture de l’hôtel et au calme. Personnel au top. Piscine de l’hôtel superbe. Petit déjeuner et dîner varié.
• SOPHIE (8/5): Plutôt bon - Accueil assez déplorable après près de 3 h de voiture, arrivé au Matala bay hôtel et appartement, on nous explique que les appartements ne sont pas sur place et qu’il faut reprendre la voiture. C’est en fait à 800m ou 10/12 min de marche sous le soleil grecque. Donc bilan au petit dej ou pour allez à la piscine c’est voiture ou rando. Pas pratique pour une famille, il faut être « raccord » niveau timing car en plus on ne vous donne qu’une clé pour l’appartement…Et la double peine c’est que la mer est bien à 10 mn de marche de l’hôtel mais du coup à 20 mn des appartements. L’appartement est bien, lit double extra ferme très dur (trop pour nous qui aimons portant les lit fermes). Les services de l’hôtel, piscine vraiment top, petit déjeuner correct mais pas extraordinaire, table en intérieur ou extérieur c’est assez sympa, parasol de plage ce n’est pas sur la plage mais l’hôtel vous prête un parasol à la réception et on peut se garer à l’hôtel ou dans la rue encore faut il qu’il y est de la place, tout est un question de chance!! . Donc voilà on y a passé 4 jours le bilan global est plutôt bon hormis la surprise de l’éloignement relatif des appartements, on l’a fait ça s’est bien passé, le Matala bay hôtel est un beau petit complexe et nulle doute que le personnel fait son maximum pour le bien être des clients.Je regrette juste le manque de clarté dans la descriptif pour pouvoir faire le choix en connaissance de cause et l’accueil un peu rustre le premier jour.

• Christine (8/5): Appartement moderne confortable - Appartement moderne, 5 balcons, matelas confortables. A 15 minutes à pieds de la plage de Matala. Seul point négatif : les chiens dans le quartier qui ont aboyés pendant 1/2 heure tard le soir. Parce que sinon quartier très calme. Un bruit de fond stable comme un ventilateur bruyant pourrait palier à ce problème.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Solides Hotel ca. 200 m vom Strand/ Zentrum - Wir hatten ein 4 Betten -Appartement in einem Haus gegenüber des eigentlichen Hotels. Sehr ruhige Lage. Etwas hellhörig im Haus. Aber zu unserer Reisezeit wenig bewohnt. Es waren 2 Zimmer, zweckmäßig eingerichtet - schon etwas abgewohnt, aber zufriedenstellend sauber. Kochnische sehr klein und spärlich ausgestattet. Der Preis über Expedia für diese eine Nacht war super. Wir konnten den kompletten Service des Hotels nutzen.

Vil fremheve Red Beach, en fin, liten og fredelig sandstrand. Valgfritt badeantrekk. En liten bar med musikk fra en liten høytaler.

ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THAT WE STAYED FOR 3 DAYS AND APARTMENTS WERE NOT CLEANED AND NO CLEAN TOWELS SUPPLIED DURING THAT TIME.
