Guest Reviews
- Constance (10/5): A dream hotel — far from the crowds, close to paradise! - I simply cannot understand the negative reviews I came across about this place, as our stay was absolutely flawless from start to finish. Luis and his entire team deserve so much better, and I feel compelled to set the record straight!
The hotel is located just 25 minutes from Port Barton and very easy to get to — which is one of its greatest strengths. Away from the hustle and bustle of the village, you find yourself in a peaceful, relaxing setting with a completely different atmosphere that does you the world of good. Exactly what we were looking for.
The food is delicious, generous and very reasonably priced — we got far more than our money's worth, and every meal was a genuine pleasure.
But what truly makes this place stand out is the team. Luis and his staff go above and beyond, ready to sort out anything with a smile and genuine warmth. You never feel alone or left to fend for yourself — every request is met with enthusiasm and handled with care. That's rare, and it deserves to be recognised.
A huge thank you to Luis and the whole team for your exceptional hospitality. You do a wonderful job and you deserve every bit of recognition. Until next time, hopefully! 🙏🌿
- Pierre-Yves (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing place! - Our 3rd time here, still very beautiful and peaceful place!
The staff made us feel at home !
Thank you to Kuya Luis & Kuya Junior
Highly recommend !

- Randall (10/5): Hidden Gem - Sunset Colors was a hidden paradise! Off the beaten path, but relatively easy to get to.
Our bungalow, was big, there was a fan for the evenings and a mosquito net over the bed. Simple, basic but nice. We were steps from the beach. The staff is very helpful and the food was very good there. If you wanted a different restaurant, there were 5 more spots along the beach. The beach was small and peaceful, very nice for a medium long walk, end to end. The water was warm, but the shallows was rocky....you had to.pick your way out to.deeper water. There were wooden sun lounges n bean bag seats for guests.
We really enjoyed our time there! This has nothing to do with Sunset Colors itself, but.the bugs were pretty bad when we were there in Feb. Bring some bug repellent and maybe a long sleeve shirt.n pants for the evenings
- Criselda (10/5): They thought of everything to make this a moat wonderful experience. - No complaints at all...Sunset Colors is the best resort at this beach, best staff, best view, best food, best vibes. Rocks on the beach.

- Asa (10/5): Amazing stay in a peaceful environment - The entier setting of Sunset Colors is just perfect. The cosy bungslows, the restaurant on the beach, the peaceful environment and the great staff makes it an amazing experience. There is nothing we didnt like about Sunset Colors.
- Leos (10/5): - Nádherná lokalita, skvělý personál, doporučuji.
- Laetitia (9/5): - The staff is really nice, the place is beautiful and peaceful
- Aleisha (8/5): Amazing 1 night we. - Away from the town and beautiful. Very cute bungalows.
- Ivan (8/5): - Molto accogliente. Posizione.
- louise (10/5): We didn’t want to leave this beautiful place- it had a perfect chilled paradise island vibe. We loved drinks on the beac - It was a perfectly chilled, beautifully clean little pocket of paradise Luiz and his staff could t do enough for you, they were all amazing- thank you so much
- Karolina (10/5): Nice place to stay - I'd like the location of the huts being so close to the beach, so the view was great.
Very friendly and helpful staff, able to help with any inquiries. The place own a kayak that you can take and visit a nearby island, but there is only one kayak - you have to keep an eye on it to be there when it's free.
The beach in front is not really swimmable, lots of rocks at the bottom.
- Maurizio (7/5): -
- Simone (6/5): - Location stupenda , bungalow a tema ! Cibo ottimo, massaggi e atmosfera super .
- Gauthier (10/5): Incredible - The best place in the world, a little paradise 15 min from port Barton which allows you to do everything still island hoping, land hoping, right from the hotel. A must see which deserves to remains a secret.
Private beach, great food, secluded area. Massage on the beach. Highly recommend! You might spend a little less time in the city center as it’s not the easiest to access. But highly worth it! The sound of the waves waking me up everything morning 😉

- Francesca (8/5): - The place is very beautiful, quiet and peaceful perfect for few days relaxing on the beach, the staff in nice and very helpful. I think is great for a short stay. The only thing to keep in mind is that the boat to go to the mainland is only free the day you are arrive and the day you leave, if in the middle of your stay you want to go to port barton you will have to pay a quite expensive fee, I don't think this is very clear in the booking description.
ATTENTION: This platform is actively profiting of the Palestinian occupied land in the West bank (see the United Nation report "Economy of genocide") I was not aware at the time of my stay (I should have done better research). Stay at this location but do not book with this platform
- Isabelle (9/5): Breathtaking and homely. Thank you - Loved the free canoes. Incredible location, directly on the beach front!
Lovely staff, made us feel so welcome and at home.
The food was delicious!! N/A
- Jimmy (10/5): Exceptional - I felt so welcome there. The food, the place, the staff were just great. Love meeting on the beach to get a boat to get there.
- Jimmy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arabella (7/5): Good -
- Solveiga (10/5): Amazing location - Amazing hotel! The bungalow is nice, staff is friendly, exceptional food! Big plus that you can rent kayaks for free and explore different islands. Amazing stay None
- Sophia (8/5): Peaceful and calm stay - Peaceful stay, a 20min boat ride from Port Barton Town. Away from the crowd, if you’re seeking calm and less crowded beaches, you need to stay there! Not many restaurant options on the island.
- Justine (9/5): Superb - If you want to chill and relax this is the place for you. Beach bean bags to watch the sunset, hammocks and fantastic food and drinks. Luiz the staff are absolutely beautiful. Free boat to and from Port Barton is an added bonus and def the way to get there. We had an old part of the establishment. It was absolutely fine, not a huge amount of water pressure but sufficient.
- Thomas (9/5): Very nice and peacefull resort - Very nice resort, in a quiet and very beautifull area. The personnel has been very kind and helpful. The restaurant is so picturesque and we eat well ! Very good quality for a reasonnable price Our room was above the kitchen, si we the restaurant is running you get lots of cooking smells.
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing remote location
Stunning sunset
Very accommodating owner & staff
Many thanks to Luiz 💕
- Kevin (10/5): The trip from PP was hard.once we arrive the location, accommodation, and staff were wonderful - Great location along a quiet beach A little hard to get to but worth it. I would the boat from Port Barton as opposed to the Van approach from the north.
- Mila (9/5): Superb - Very beautiful beach but isolated completely. There is no asphalt , so preferred option is to get there by boat, alternatively tuktuk which is not always easy to find. Going for dinner in the village will cost you around 40€ for the boat or tuktuk, and about 40min 1 way. Good place to relax but not strategical if you want to explore around. However, the owner booked as an amazing island hopping boat tour
- Diana (9/5): Thanks for lovely time. - Very good place for relaxing. So nice food. The owner very good, all staff very friendly and helpful. All my family love to be there and we will be back. Thanks for everything ❤️🇵🇭
- Hadas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keiran (8/5): Very good -
- Tiagomvsoares (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (8/5): Wonderful, peaceful experience - The cabin. Loved the bucket in the shower. Nice surroundings. Wonderful, peacefull atmosphere. GREAT food! Best I’ve had in the Philippines. Eating on the beach. Great service. You need water shoes.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alicia (1/5): Extremely Disappointing Experience – DO NOT STAY HERE! - The location is beautiful, very calm Extremely Disappointing Experience – DO NOT STAY HERE!
I had the worst experience at this place. First, I was charged nearly double the usual room price due to "scarce availability." My door didn't lock, which made me feel unsafe. The second night, at 4 a.m., I was woken up by a drunk employee knocking at my door. I opened it, thinking it was an emergency, only to find him stumbling and unable to form proper sentences. He said he wanted to take my cup from the terrace to clean it. After I told him it was inappropriate to disturb me at that hour, he just took the cup and left.
As a female solo traveler, this left me terrified, especially since the door wouldn’t lock. I spent the rest of the night sitting in bed with a Swiss knife, unable to sleep, while the wifi wasn’t working properly to reach my boyfriend or friends's support.
The worst part was the owner’s response the next morning. When I reported the incident, he yelled at me, accused me of inventing everything to get free accommodation, and told me I should’ve come to him at 4 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. (when it was dark and I was understandably frightened). He then insulted me, saying “If you don’t have money, don’t travel. YOU ARE A PIECE OF BULLSHIT.”
No one should ever be treated like that, especially after such a terrifying experience. The staff, like Connie and Ali, were wonderful and helpful, but the overall atmosphere was ruined by the owner’s unprofessional behavior. I would never recommend staying here.
- Jody (6/5): Had potential, but overall disappointing. - It’s secluded if that’s what you’re looking for. Hammocks and bean bags on the beach. Bar and dining in the sand. My bad luck I suppose, but I had the hut right near the bar and there were loud guests from a neighbouring resort on both nights of my stay, until late. I thought, given the location, they might have been asked to be quieter earlier, for the peace of other guests. And ugh, something about lumpy pillows just makes my skin crawl. And I think there are termites in the wood. Service hit and miss, on my last night, staff didn’t come near me, but that’s probably because I asked questions about allowing the noisy guests to continue late. Wasn’t asked at all on departure how I enjoyed my stay.
- Steve (9/5): Stay at Sunset Colors for a really nice chill on the beach, and indeed a perfect spot for sunsets! - Really an outstanding view from their slice of the beach. I also appreciated the attention to architectural style with all the bamboo construction. Staff were excellent as well. Although not a real budgetary option, the lack of crowds and what not leaves it kind of still captured in time before it’s discovered and blows up. Restaurant on premises are as also very dependable. Louis the owner was tops. I was sad indeed when I couldn’t stay another night since they were booked. I was bummed when I had to go someplace down the beach, which cost the same, but didn’t measure up in hardly anyway.
- Louise (9/5): Wish we had stayed longer. - Such a wonderful location with a very chilled vibe and excellent staff. The food was very reasonably priced and tasted good As described, basic bed and bathroom but very clean. Good to mention that you will get wet when walking in sea from boat to beach
- Petar (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place for relax
- Jerome (8/5): Wonderful experience ! - Simple nice beachfront hôtel with a wonderful view and white beach.
Staff in the restaurant was extremely nice always smiling and laughing, the food is actually the best we had ever taste in Philippines !
Our island hopping tour was organized by the hotel with the owners charming son Ali and his team, we had a wonderful experience , thankyou Ali!!
Our transport to Taytay was also organized by the hotel in a nice 4x4 brand new with the other son who was extremely nice and took us to visit a very beautiful white long beach (absolutely no tourists!) as well as a tour of the small town of Taytay and visit of the forteress.
We really enjoyed our stay in Sunset colors. Room is nice and simple it has a big bed but lacks in confort especially in the bathroom, no place to put things, shower is cold and cleaning is not included.
- Léonis (10/5): En un mot, PARFAIT - Philippines vibes 🤙🏼Everybody Smile 😃 Isla 😻 Nothing
- Lilita (10/5): Perfectly💕 - Great place for perfect relaxation! Very friendly and helpful staff, and of course the hosts. I would definitely recommend it to friends too! We liked everything.
- Alkalay (8/5): Calm and silence place great location with a convenient boat service to port barton - Very calm and warmly service. Food super good and nice massage . The beach has nice places to go by walk and virgin landscape full of wild sea life There was no air conditioning, not warm
Water in the bath, and beds are too basic
- Irena (10/5): Quiet and relaxing resort in beautiful setting - It was exactly what we needed, peace and quiet. The resort consists of wooden cabins surrounded by lush vegetation. We lived on the first floor of the main building, with a wonderful view of the sea. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Every day they automatically served us breakfast directly on our terrace. We booked island hopping and didn't have to go to Port Barton, the boat picked us up right at our resort, that was super convenient. You can easily walk down the beach to the larger sandy Gilligans Beach. You can go back on the road - so it's not an asphalt road, just a sandy road. The food at the resort is very tasty and not expensive, including drinks. They also do massages there. They even arranged a transfer to El Nido for us at the end of our stay. Be prepared that the four-bed family room is directly above the kitchen, so you can hear and smell cooking, but after 10pm it's completely quiet. This is accommodation in the middle of nature, so if you need luxury and a busy nightlife, look better for something else.
- Cecilia (10/5): Beautiful secluded place for relaxing - Absolutely beautiful place. After traveling 3 weeks in the Philippines the whole family agreed this was our favorite place, unfortunately our first stop. Close by in walking distance there’s another beautiful beach where it is possible to swim during low tide. There are two restaurants on the beach and another in walking distance. The island hopping tour they arranged was great. Luiz might contact you directly on whatsup in case you have questions, he is reliable. They picked us up on the airport, be aware that you will have to walk in water to reach the hotel. The beach is a bit rocky, it’s good to bring swimming shoes.
- Laura (4/5): Disappointing - The space and feeling was so nice The beach and staff was not so good
- Joffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shweta (9/5): Superb -
- Sofija (9/5): Superb -
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. You do have to take a boat to get there so do keep that in mind in terms of activities. Great food. Tour picks you up at the beach. Clean room. Bed with mozzarella net. Highly recommend. WhatsApp for comms. You have to rely on the boat if your on your own in town and sometimes have to wait.
- Esh (9/5): Cozy and Peaceful - Situated in a peaceful island, away from the main road. Luis the owner and the rest of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you want a relaxing environment and a good quality time with family. This is a perfect spot. Hopefully there's more options for food.
Thank you.
- Frederika (9/5): secluded paradise - Lovely secluded and quiet place on a beach near Port Barton. You have to get a boat there from the town so it feels like an isolated paradise with only two hotels in the area, perfect to unwind. The huts are cute and comfortable with great sea views, the restaurant has a small but delicious menu. Also the staff are especially friendly and helpful! bring reef shoes as the beach has many rocks and coral so swimming can be difficult otherwise
- Elena (9/5): Excellent stay and will - The resort was serene. I will definitely recommend the place for anyone who would like to unwind and would like to connect to nature/away from the busy hustle of city life. If you are up for adventures, the place is perfect! Be more than prepared for mosquitoes and sandflies though.
- Karel (10/5): Amazing location on a private beach with a beautiful sunset. - Private beach, Meals on tables on the sand, Excellent friendly proactive staff No A/C in room but it's not too bad with the sea breeze
- Konstantinos (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Amazing piece of Paradise. Incredibly supportive Staff! Take the boat there! Roads are tough. -
- Michael (9/5): The staff of the hotel and the location made the stay a really good experience. - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, well-connected to the area and willing/able to help with anything. The sunset views were UNBEATABLE, the hotel's location outside the small town was very quiet and good for relaxing. Good starting point for exploration of the isalnds in the bay. Beaches and water quite clean in comparison to other countries in this area - the locals care a lot about nature and environment. The bungalow had a fan only and no aircondition, it was thus quite warm for sleeping. The bathroom had no door which is a bit problematic when you travel as a father with an 18YO son and a 14YO daughter. I hope that it is not unfair to tell the truth and to rate the comfort of the stay rather a bit low. Finally, we enjoyed our stay very much because the good things outweighted the minus points by far. Thank you for giving us something good to remember!!!
- Thomas (8/5): Idyllic natire views, Island Life, Extremely Helpful Staff - Such great staff they are so professional but also friendly, never felt like anything was too much to ask or like we were being too much. The location is actually spectacular with kayaks on the beach about 10metres away from your front door. Even when it is raining and thundering the nature is stunning The only thing I could fault would be it gets very hot at night with one fan and no AC but this is something we understood with being within the nature. Also the signal and WiFi was not very good but again, I don’t worry think it’s this is at the accommodations fault because it is in such a remote beautiful location
- Hans (7/5): Good - Location Food and only cold shower
- Pablo (10/5): Superbe séjour à Port Barton - The location was great, the food, the activities, so It was very good !
- Glaire (8/5): Peaceful vibe - What I like about this place is its perfect fit for someone who enjoys a quiet, chill vibe. We're almost entirely alone on the island. Getting here requires a boat ride and checking in and out can be a bit of a hassle if you need access to the main port of Barton. However, if you just want to relax on the island, it's ideal. The beachfront, although picturesque with perfect sunsets, isn't recommended for swimming because it's a bit rocky. Nevertheless, there are options for food and mini-bars, and the staff are very accommodating. During our stay, we were informed on check-in day that there was a fiesta in town, so at night we could hear some noise from the festivities. Despite that, I still enjoyed my stay; it has a peaceful vibe.
- Queitsch (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place!
- Paula (8/5): Very good -
- Andre (10/5): Lovely, Peaceful Resort - Lived up to its name, Sunset Colors. The location was idyllic and the resort lovely. Our beach front hut was lovely. The beach was not really great for swimming, nonetheless there was enough island hopping, swimming and snorkeling activities available. The food at the resort was good and it was enjoyable eating our meals on the beach. The host, Luis, was excellent. He was likeable, easy to deal with, and when a mistake in the booking was made on his part, he owned up to it, which was refreshing. He also proved to be very accommodating. Nothing to dislike regarding the resort itself. An airconditioned room would have been a plus though. The fan did an adequate job though. Just beware of "nik-nik" if laying down at the far end of the beach, away from the resort.
- Yaeko83 (8/5): Be aware, you cannot leave this hotel easily. - The hotel is in a private beach, isolated. The cabin we got was amazing, beautiful with views to the beach. I'm a lover of dogs and there were many strays around who are nice and playful. It's quiet and really stunning. You can only get to the hotel by boat. They arrange this boat for free BUT ONLY FOR YOUR CHECK-IN OR CHECK OUT. If you want to leave the beach to visit port barton, you CANNOT leave unless another guess is checking in or out, and if you want to tag along with them you need to pay. If you want to get a private boat, you also need to pay and the price is way too high.
We felt trapped and scammed with this as is definitely not clear in the description at Booking.com. The do this on purpose so you have to spend more on site.
Be aware.
- Holger (9/5): It’s so remote location that you can’t do much activities. For everything you need a boat. The island hopping is great, - Very remote location, awesome ambience
Staff lovely, Place clean and quiet, clear water at the beach Coming to the hotel can be truisms expensive
If you come via airport, the shuttle leave before the plane from Manila arrives, you end up with private transportation
- Natarsha (10/5): Fabulous value for money - For us, the isolation and lack of luxury were absolutely perfect. All staff, particularly Matoy, Connie, and Margo, were outstanding.
The free use of the kayak allowed us to explore beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise waters on other deserted islands.
The food was delicious with good portions sizes. We felt at roughly $9 AUD per meal they was reasonably priced, and with the menu variety, we didn't feel the need to look elsewhere.
Loved the bar, amazing cocktails, and fabulous massage. We would return in a heartbeat. Having to leave.
