Guest Reviews
- Charles (10/5): Nicest condos in Red River - Nice size 2 bed/2 bath condo. Especially appreciated the kind desk staff and the washer/dryer in the unit. Patio was a great place for an afternoon snack/drink as it overlooked the river and mountainside. Newly replaced wooden balconies and new exterior paint. no issues
- Nicole (8/5): - Beautiful views! Close to nearby stores and restaurants, very walkable distance. Right next to ski lift and Red River. Fully furnished kitchenette with stove, microwave, and dishwasher. Hot tub was clean. Gas grills available. Not pet friendly but allows service animals. WiFi not free but passes available for purchase.
- Margaret (10/5): -
- Lucien (9/5): -
- Micah (10/5): Can’t beat the location. - Location is perfect and very nice Nothing
- Mary (10/5): - We have stayed here many times and it’s great!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Almost perfect. - Everything would of been perfect if the parking lot had not just been torn out. Would stay there again.
- nicole (10/5): - The river was right behind our hotel. Great for fishing.
- Shilling (6/5): Adequate - Location and staff Don't charge 50 dollars for internet
- Laura (10/5): - The condo was very nice and had everything we needed. They called the day of arrival and said they had overbooked the 2 bedroom we reserved and had to switch us to 2 one-bedroom condos. It was a little less convenient for us but worked out ok. The view from the balcony was lovely of the ski lift and the creek. Nice to walk along the water also and watch people fly fishing. Easy walk to shopping, restaurants and bars. Would definitely stay here again.
- Pamela (10/5): -
- Brice (10/5): - Would definitely stay here again n
- Janette (6/5): - Excellent property but disappointed with check in.
- Suzanne (10/5): - The amenities were great! The view from the patio was amazing. The walls were thin and weren’t very good for noise control. All in all, it was a great stay. We’ll be back 😁
- william (10/5): - Great check in at a busy time of day
- Robert (10/5): - Such a nice place to stay in Ouray! Love it
- suzy (10/5): - Great place to stay! Highly recommend!
- Danny (10/5): Nice stay - Very clean, and we loved staying right next to the river. Definitely want to go back. There was nothing we didn't like. Very enjoyable stay.
- Mary (10/5): - We love it here! Relaxing right on the river!
- Donaji (10/5): - Very clean property! Excellent location, great customer service.
- John (10/5): - The lady at the front desk was amazing. She was kind and helpful.
- Todd (10/5): - Extremely clean. Easy to get reserved. Easy in and out every time. Great location
- iluvchem (4/5): Beware of housekeeping fees - Great resort and location, but floors/ceilings are paper thin. For four days we heard the people above banging, walking around with shoes on, and doing laundry at 3 am, which was very noisy and the water pipes bang loudly when washer fills/empties. Luckily we had a couple quiet days before that we could really enjoy. Also, resort charged us a split-week housekeeping fee of $108 even though we were told on the phone by the front desk attendant that we could check in a day late with no mention whatsoever of an additional fee that would be added. We will never return.
- Judy (10/5): Awesome - If I could find this place everywhere we went, I would stay every time.
- Miranda (9/5): Superb -
- Timothy (10/5): - The accommodations were spacious, clean, and well-appointed. Our two-bedroom suite featured a full kitchen, cozy fireplace, and a private balcony overlooking the river, a perfect spot for morning coffee . The in-unit washer and dryer were a convenient touch, especially after days filled with outdoor adventures .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - One of the nicest places I have stayed at in red river, the staff were all extremely helpful especially when we arrived it was late and snowing, didn't expect that in May but, very helpful staff the rooms are amazing I genuinely wish my bed was that comfy! For the price and what you get in my opinion is more than fair, we had pots, pans, silverware, cups, everything was there so it was a relief. We will definitely be back again!
- Shelley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karla (10/5): - Room was very nice and the scenery was beautiful.
- althea (10/5): - Property was clean. Staff were professional and kind. Rooms were modern and decorated nicely. Technology worked. Place was quiet which was expected for off season.
- Lori (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Meganne (8/5): Beautiful views - Beautiful, comfy and confident rooms with nice views. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Mary (10/5): - Very relaxing atmosphere. Quiet too!
- Mary (10/5): - Great place
- Holly (10/5): Snow - Red River was beautiful.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Staff was beyond helpful and the room was furnished with everything we could have needed, including spices for cooking!
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jesse (8/5): - Great location and a great ski town.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Loved it here. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The patio looked out to the mountains and had a little stream running by. Super close to the ski area, shopping, and food. Favorite part was the hot tub. It was so clean and nice. Perfect way to end the day under the stars.
- Amanda (8/5): - Our stay was fantastic. The staff was kind and accommodating. Our room was very clean and well stocked. The only thing that we didn't anticipate was the 1am grooming of the mountain... was loud for a bit but understandable. Would stay again.
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amber (7/5): Clean, relaxing, and enjoyable! - Very clean and close to everything downtown. Quiet and relaxing We did not receive the room that was booked. Was supposed to get 1 room with king bed, and second room with 2 queen or full size. Instead we got 1 room with queen bed, and 1 room with queen bed. Sitting arrangements in living room chairs and couch was very uncomfortable. But we made do and not just horrible was mainly just disgruntled about the beds.
- Ronald (1/5): Stressful - Nice rooms. Close to chair lift. Reservation was all messed up. Tried to double charge us. The whole thing made our trip stressful and Inconvenient.
- Alvira (9/5): Overall, the stay was close to perfect! The convenience of the location supersedes all of my dislikes. I will stay her - Easy access to ski lift and walking distance to food I thought the rooms could use a few upgrades. I’d prefer a keurig instead of the drip coffee maker. The shower head and lighting could’ve used an upgrade. The TVs were small and could’ve used an upgrade to a smart capability.
- April (9/5): Superb -
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shirelle (10/5): - Great stay in Red River
- Tausha (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Great location along the river and ski slopes. Walkable to main st
- anthonygX8587BE (10/5): Home away from home - The manager and staff at this resort had to be the friendliest, most helpful and overall best group I've ever experienced. Perhaps it was because our week was just before Thanksgiving, but we were treated like family invited for the holiday. Thank you so much for making our week so SPECIAL! Thank YOU ALL!.
- Jan (10/5): - Nice place to stay. Bed was very comfortable. The river right behind us was beautiful
- jltx1102 (10/5): Scenic Beauty - September was the time to be in Redriver NM. The Aspens where turning to a beautiful yellow and orange. The wild life were every where. We saw deer every and evening along the river and the ducks seemed to be water rafting the small rapids. It all was so wonderful. A great town to relax or do some hiking. The weather was great upper 30's in the mornings and mid 60's by the afternoon. We will definately be coming back again.
- Robert (10/5): Better than expected stay - We have five in the group and with one baby we feel comfortable for the whole duration.
- kenbehar2024 (10/5): Worldmark Red River - Nice resort and unit. Very clean and well furnished. Convenient location in center of town, but also very quiet.
- Kent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariska (8/5): Nice condo perfectly located in downtown Red River - Location is great. It was nice to have a balcony overlooking the river. It wasn’t until we checked in that we were informed that the hot tub and the ice machine were both out of order. I would’ve expected some gesture of good will on the part of the property managers for the lack of these commodities.
- Rick (8/5): Great place to stay - The room was very spacious. The kitchen was well stocked, dishes, glassware, etc. Very quiet also.
Only complaint was very steep stairs and no elevator.
We will definitely stay again, just will make sure to request the first floor!
- Stacey (8/5): Very good - I loved the view from the porch out back. I didn't like that the livingroom, dining room and kitchen were so small and all shoved in one tiny room. The dining room table blocked the view of the fireplace and the washing machine.
- Robert (10/5): This was a wonderful place and we will probably be back! - The scenery calmness it was beautiful Free WiFi maybe some breakfast
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): - The room was clean, well appointed and located along a beautiful stream. Couldn't be better!! We had a small issue with the toilet flushing but the staff was very receptive of our concern. Staff was very friendly and professional.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graciela (1/5): Bad -
- Kelley-boyet (10/5): Highly recommend - Lovely staff. Rooms were immaculate.
- Bailey (9/5): Superb -
- janetC1981JV (8/5): Cool Mountain Retreat – Now Under Renovation - Summary
We spent a week here to escape the brutal heat at our home near Albuquerque, NM. We enjoyed our stay, and would return, especially in the winter when the ski lift in the resort’s back yard is operating.
One side of the building appears to have been renovated, and staff told us that exterior repairs and renovations were scheduled to begin the week following our visit. Our unit, #10, was just renovated, and proved spacious and comfortable.
We’ve skied Red River in winter, and this resort is superbly positioned for a great week. The ski area itself is more appealing to beginner/intermediate skiers, with few expert-challenging trails. In summer, we found it attractive for all the hiking trails criss-crossing the slopes.
The town is a fun, small place, with several good restaurants, a couple funky roadhouse bars, and an assortment of tourist-oriented shops. Winter or summer, you can have a good, cool vacation here.
Unit Features
Our unit, #10, is a recently renovated 2BR, with spacious living area and very large deck. The front of the unit faces the street on which the resort is located. The rear faces a narrow strip of river bank across which a paved sidewalk runs. Beyond that is the Red River itself. The opposite bank of the river rises steeply up the mountain on which the ski area is located. The views are both pastoral and majestic.
An L-shaped kitchen adjoins the entryway, with a full set of appliances. Dinnerware, crockery and flatware are provided for 8 people, with appropriate pots and pans. Kitchen tools and gadgets were a step above the usual cheap junk. I found I didn’t need the knives I brought along nearly as much as I normally do. The resort even provided some coffee and tea to get us started.
The dining/living space extends straight back from the kitchen to the rear wall, where an 8’ sliding glass door leads to an unexpectedly large deck measuring about 16’x32’. The deck extends across the entire rear of the building, with each unit separated by a chest-high dividing wall. Similarly, a balcony, narrower than the deck, extends across the second floor of the building.
In the living/dining area, a gas fireplace provides cozy light and warmth, although we used it only a little during our summer visit. A 50” flat screen TV mounted above the fireplace mantel was plenty large enough for good visibility from the pull-out couch and chairs. A DVD player provides the means for movies, and the resort has a small library of films available for borrowing.
A rectangular table and six chairs occupied the dining area, while still leaving good traffic space around it. Two entry closets and a bank of closets at one side of the dining area offer plenty of storage for vacation gear.
The second BR is just to the right of the entryway, and features two twin beds, a nightstand, and a chest of drawers. A small closet is also included. A 27” flat screen TV provides some entertainment opportunity in this BR.
A full bath is situated between the second BR and the master, and is accessed from the living/dining space. It is spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair, but lacks grab bars and other accessories, so I can’t call it fully accessible.
The master BR is located off the living area at the rear of the unit space. It features a king bed, two nightstands, a chest of drawers, and a closet. A pair of windows look out on the unit’s deck, the river and mountain beyond.
An ensuite bath with a full tub/shower unit is accessed through a door at one side of the bed. It, too, is large enough to maneuver a wheelchair in, but access is blocked by the king bed, which leaves only a very narrow path around it to the bathroom.
Unit Size
I estimate our unit to be around 750 sq.ft. or so. The open floor plan in the living/dining area contributes to a feeling of greater size, as does the large deck, which adds at least another 400 sq. ft. I do not know if other units are larger or smaller.
Condition of Unit and Property
As noted earlier, the unit itself is newly renovated, and was spotlessly clean with virtually no wear showing anywhere. The balance of the property shows a good deal of age, with darkened wood siding and a few sagging railings. Along the roofline, winter snow and ice dams have broken off large sections of rain gutters. This resulted in a significant waterfall onto our deck during a couple of afternoon thunderstorms, since the remaining gutter ended right above the deck. Staff informed us that repairs and exterior renovations were due to commence the week after our visit.
Any problems encountered such as check-in problems, room changes, etc.

Resort Amenities
The resort has a small common deck area with a hot tub. Unfortunately, it appears the tub is used only in winter. A couple of gas grills were noted in the same space. All the units are accessed from open walkways on the street side of the resort. Other than the hot tub space, we didn’t notice any summer amenities, but then, we didn’t go looking for them either.
Staff Friendliness and Responsiveness
We found the staff to be quite friendly and highly responsive to our questions. Maintenance staff appeared seemingly in moments in response to one or two requests for assistance.
Convenience to Area Attractions
Red River is a small town, and the resort is located just one short block off the main street. Nothing in town is more than a brisk 15-minute walk from anything else, including the ski area. In fact, one of the ski area’s double chairlifts is located at the back corner of the resort building. Although it is closed in summer, a larger, 4-person chairlift does offer sightseeing rides to the peak. That lift is a 10-minute walk down the path behind the resort.
Out of town, numerous trail heads and trails are a short drive away. A 15-minute drive up to the top of Bobcat Pass brings one to Bobcat Pass Wilderness Adventures, which offers horseback and ATV guided tours of the surrounding forested mountains. On certain nights in the summer, it also offers “cowboy dinner” evenings with very good grilled steaks and Western music. Taos Village, home to a significant art traditioin, and Taos Pueblo, the oldest continuously-inhabited dwelling place in the United States, are about a 45-minute drive from the resort. Eagle Nest and Angel Fire are two other small towns not far that are worth a visit.
Local Restaurants Worth Mentioning
Very good: Sundance (Mexican), Texas Red’s Steakhouse (steak), Brett’s Bistro (American/Continental)
Good: Yesterday’s Diner (breakfast/lunch), Shotgun Willie’s (BBQ)
Fair: Capo’s Corner (Italian), Vine+Dine (American, expensive), Red River Brewing & Distillery (pub grub, undistinguished beer)
Saloons: Bull O’ the Woods, Motherlode (both very good bars with pub grub and weekend music)
Suitability of Resort for couples, families, relaxing, partying, etc.
Couples – Great! Units are spacious and quiet, and the town’s restaurants and bars are close by. Evenings in the unit are comfortable.
Families – Sure! The second BR accommodates two kids, and the pull-out couch will hold a couple more. The deck is partially shielded from rain by the balcony overhead, so even rainy days needn’t find everyone cooped up inside.
Relaxing – Sure! We were there in non-holiday summer, and the weather was sunny and cool with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Although the town was full of tourists on the weekends, it was relatively empty and quiet during the week. The beds are both nicely firm and in near-new condition.
Partying – Yes! Between inside space and the deck, the unit could easily hold two or thee dozen people for a party. I wouldn’t try to party hearty late into the night (the resort has a 10PM quiet time curfew) but an afternoon family gathering or early evening cocktail party would be easy to accomplish.
Rating: The resort’s location, ambiance, views, and comfort all put it in 8.0-9.0 range. The need for continuing renovations drops that into the 6.0-7.0 range. Overall, I call it a 7.5, with potential to rise as renovations are completed.
- 386tomt (8/5): Consistently Good Resort - I wrote a full review of this resort on 8/19/2023. Our visit this year was earlier in the season, with delightfully cool mornings and comfortable afternoons. This year we observed the hot tub in operation, although we didn't use it.
Out unit, #11, was recently renovated very comfortable. We enjoyed the spacious living area, large deck and close proximity to our car. The fireplace wasn't working on arrival, but maintenance fixed it promptly when requested.
We enjoyed ourselves and would return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel and location! - Beautiful surroundings and close to the river. The hotel was well maintained and had all the describe ammenties. Super clean and the bed was comfortably. I would highly recommend.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Romero (10/5): We will definately be back! - So easy to make reservations, check in was great. Desk staff was amazing. The room was cozy and so clean. Anything I needed was supplied. The patio was the perfect breakfast spot as we got to sit facing the river. NA
- John (10/5): Wonderful. Do not hesitate to book at this hotel. - The choice of this hotel was fairly random, but it turned out to be one of the best places we have ever stayed. Beautiful location, excellent accommodation and superb staff. We will be returning.
- Earl (10/5): Excellent accommodations, and a quiet place to relax. - Breakfast not included. Location excellent. Very small town vibe that was a nice change of pace. Some of the restaurants and retail stores were closed to prepare for the summer season which narrowed the choices for eating and shopping.
- sosab656 (10/5): Quiet, relaxing, enjoyable stay in Red River - We stayed for a week in April in the low season so it was quiet. The maintenance staff went out of their way to supply items that we forgot from home that are not typically provided, such as extension cords and an HDMI cable and pretty much anything else we needed. He also provided some very good fishing tips. One morning, we were out on our balcony when the manager of our hotel plus other Worldmark hotel managers and the regional director. One of the managers offered fishing advice recommending the local worms and the regional director proceeded to dig up worms for our fishing excursion that day. Yes, hilarious but going the extra mile as well. Love you guys!
- Rivera (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious, clean, and comfortable apartments in a beautiful location. Staff are excellent.
- tomdixon42 (10/5): wonderful - We came from IL and the resort is worth the 942 mile trip. The buildings are clean and spacious. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Even to showing their holes.private fishing holes. The location for wildlife is unbelievable. The Red River trout and ducks are 50' off our deck. A herd of Mule deer come to drink every evening. Between Red River and Questa herds of Mountain Sheep wander the roadside. We are going to try to get back every couple of years. MaryLynn D
- Christina (2/5): - Be wary of booking a stay here. As we were driving into Red River we received a message that the reservation should not have gone through as the property was completely sold out. After nearly 2 hours on the phone with Expedia, and an attempt to relocate my family to Taos b/c of lack of availability anywhere in Red River, we were relocated elsewhere in town. The only positive is that William who was working the front desk was extremely kind and tried his best to assist us as the Expedia relocation team being difficult to work with. Red River itself is fantastic and I would anticipate us going back at some point.
- Alaina (9/5): Superb - Great location, loved having a kitchen. The hot tub is small but we enjoyed it. Staff was very friendly.
- Gail (10/5): We had a fantastic time. Desk people were fantastic. Unfortunately dish was out when we first arrived but did get back o - Close to slopes clean good location to town Lite in master bedroom low. Unable to change it.
- Danielle (7/5): Good but wanted TV working - Great location, friendly and helpful staff, roomy accommodations. The TV was out due to a snow storm a few days prior and ice on the satellite dish.
- Shellie (9/5): Superb -
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Farren231 (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Ginger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garrett (8/5): Very good -
- richardlX8425II (8/5): Nice stay with the arrival of snow! - Room was smaller than normal, but good for just the 2 of us. Room was upstairs which was tiring to us (66 years old, high altitude), but was only an issue on the first and last days. Very clean, everything worked, polite staff. Hot tub was out, but they were trying hard to get it fixed. Oh, had to pay $15 for internet... not a lot of $, but in this day and age!?
- Voight (10/5): Exceptional -
- Santos (10/5): Beautiful cozy - Room was perfect! Clean and cozy will definitely stay here again!
- Paula (6/5): Pleasant - Location, ease of checking in/out, full kitchen w/dishes The floor in the unit was not swept (hair and crumbs), the light in the bedroom was dim, hot tub was not in service and we were not notified until check in. Did not meet expectation for off season in relation to price paid
- Christen (10/5): Amazing stay - Red river is an amazing place if you want to experience the mountains and wild life. We went on off season, so the town was very quiet. It can be busy in ski and summer season. The hotel was wonderful, despite the small stain on the cover. Other than that we will be back.
- Cody (10/5): - Loved the room very clean and nice !
- brownsandy0558 (10/5): Great view - Beautiful resort with an outstanding view from the nice large private patio. Very clean condo. Bed was amazing. Ambiance was inviting and comfortable. We will definitely return and recommend it to other members.
- AMBAtlanta_Ga (10/5): Hiking in N. New Mexico - Accommodations were excellent and Jamie at desk was very helpful. Our unit had everything we needed and was well organized. Room was within walking distance of several eating places, and deck was great as it was large enough to sit outside and eat and view the mounrtains.
- Marsha (10/5): - The layout and decor was very nice
- Frank (10/5): Wonderful - Comfortable, clean, great location Did not serve breakfast
- Kent (8/5): Very good -
- Lady723 (8/5): Peaceful, beautiful Red River! - Recently remodeled room large deck, unobstructed views of river and mountains. Walking distance to everything in town. Front desk employees were helpful and friendly. Comfortable beds with the white linens I've come to look for when I stay away from home. Very clean, plenty of nice toweIs too. If you need more just ask at the office. Would love to make this a reoccurring destination.
- Debra (10/5): It was relaxing and a wonderful place - It was updated and was close to the river The tv reception would quit every night when we tried to watch a movie
