Guest Reviews
- Marlon (2/5): - Room was terrible. Pool out of service no bar food was terrible overall highly upset with the entire stay
- Carvet (10/5): - All the staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. I was there during Hurricane Beryl and despite losing electricity and water my stay was still enjoyable. Thanks Paul you kept it together during the Storm.
- Paulette (2/5): Awful Hotel - The hotel was very old and dated. The bathroom was disgusting, to the point I could not stay overnight. I was at the hotel for a wedding and booked three rooms for myself, family and a friend. We ended up using the rooms just to change our clothes for the wedding, the rooms where so awful, the hotel was awful, we just could not stay.
- Janet (10/5): - Very friendly and courteous staff. Easy to get around the shopping areas
- Maudlyn (8/5): - We found the staff friendly and helpful.
However, the hot water wasn't working in our room.
- Gerald (6/5): - The hotel was ok for a stay with a very good location in the heart of Mandeville. Everything you could ever need is available within walking distance. The breakfast was exceptionally good in both taste, quantity, presentation and service. On the bad side the internet was down for two days which meant I had to purchase a data SIM. Also the hot water stopped working one morning. The hotel could do with some regular maintenance with water leaks regularly in the hallway and my previous room. The decor could do with some regular paint and repair particularly the main room doors and furniture. However I would stay again as I know what to expect and for the price I'd say it was worth it.
They need to change the room names as the junior room is better than the superior room which will confuse anyone. So I was surprised to see when moving from junior to superior it was not superior at all as I was faced with a dirty roof for a view out the window and no balcony. It's better they call the junior superior and then change the superior to be called junior. Staff were mostly all very pleasant. The pool was out of service and there was pretty much nothing to do outside your room in the hotel. No areas of entertainment or to chill . This included no TV in the rooms so bring your own entertainment.
- Ann Marie (2/5): - The staff was friendly.
- Delisser (2/5): - My experience at the Mandeville Hotel was somewhat peculiar. Given that we arrived before our check-in time, I understood why we were told we could not check in until 2:00 p.m. and that we would have to pass the time in the intense heat driving around the town until then. Once we checked in, we found that the rooms were dilapidated, had no refrigerator or TV, old bed linens, and pillowcases that were torn and hand-tied back together. Things were broken and falling apart, such as the closet door. Having no hot water for showering was the hardest part. I was informed that I would have to wait until the next morning till maintenance arrived before they could finally provide hot water to our room, after much back and forth with the front desk they eventually got us hot water. You must ask for an iron and board at the front desk if you need to iron your garments. A further observation I made four days into my stay was that someone had entered my room after we had left for the afternoon, eating all of my biscoff cookies and leaving the empty wrapper in the plastic bag that they were in. One of us had $50 gone from our purse. There was no safe available to keep items in. The only thing about the hotel that we truly liked was the breakfast, which we really appreciated. Although I didn't have a nice stay, I opted to depart one day early after my belongings began to disappear. I asked for a day reimbursement but none was provided.
- RONDELL (10/5): - Overall stay was good! The night manager was so pleasant and welcoming out of all the staff. The property is outdated and need renovations to match with 2023 times. But I must say that it was clean and kept cleaned.
The breakfast that was served was sooo delicious and I could've eat it all day if I could.
- Karen (10/5): - So far I enjoyed my stay and would recommend others
- Michael (8/5): - Staff is very responsive and always pleasant and courteous.
- Rashaad (10/5): - There was a receptionist there that showed me so mich hospitality.
- Albert (6/5): - ROOMS NEED TO BE UPDATED AND THE POOL DOESN'T WORK
- Xavier (10/5): - The Area was Quite and it felt safe.
- Trail60851269764 (8/5): Exciting - The hotel is kind of old fashioned n the room was spacious n comfortable. The breakfast area is on the ground floor and was nice i was served ackee n salt fish ,fried plantains the jcan special pretty often ..but i enjoyed a lot
- Patricia (4/5): - The hotel as run down, five years ago it was cosy and welcoming.
The pool wasn't in use from 5 years ago and it still the same.
Room service was good
- shekiel (6/5): - Our balcony door was unable to lock and that’s not safe because someone could simply climb from the neighboring rooms balcony onto ours and get inside the room.
We asked to change the room and they did not. They were busy convincing us that the place is in a safe environment.
I had to drive around with my suitcases in the car rather than leaving my stuff in an unlocked room. The rooms are ok but definitely need some items such as ironing board/iron, blow dryer, etc.
- roscinec (8/5): Birthday dinner - So I stayed at this hotel for a weekend which was three nights. The experience was good. My family and I were here for My moms birthday dinner. Which was set up and beautifully decorated by the staff. It is super clean. Apart from the pool and most of the staff was very polite. The breakfast and the food was amazing even tho a little pricey but i will definitely stay here again.2🤗
- kevin (6/5): - Staff was great, rooms are very clean, but hotel is in need of some serious upgrades, pool was closed, i would not recommend for a family.
- Laverine (10/5): Mr &mrs Reynolds - The receptionist was so lovely and polite the canteen staff was lovely and the domestic staff is very lovely friendly and helpfull overall me and my husband had a lovely stay
- Dulcie (10/5): Great hotel - I stayed at the hotel for the first with my mother who gas visited the hotel several occasions. The staff were very kind, friendly and helpful. The neals including breakfast was amazing. Would definitely visit again.
- Sanatia (8/5): - It was quiet, comfortable and clean
- Rose (4/5): - The place need to be refurbished. This place is so essential for services in the middle of the Town of Mandeville. The staff is excellent and they give you 110%. The chef is very very good the protion for breakfast is so good and filling. The dinner is a bit small the portion.
I would love to see this place improved
- Amber (8/5): - The hotel was situated right in the town so everything was within walking distance. The breakfast was great and the front desk staff especially Colleen were nice and very helpful. Would stay again !
- Tonya (6/5): - I like the convenience of the property, was very close to shopping areas. Was very disappointed with the condition of the property, need some upgrade. Breakfast was good and staff were very helpful. If you are looking for a prime location this Hotel is your choice
- Victoria (8/5): - Property offers value for stay and is conveniently in the town of Mandeville. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel needs to have an elevator or ground rooms for individuals with disabilities. My sister had a broken leg and we were upstairs down the hallway. Also the Junior suites need to have a microwave/ pantry. Why is it a Junior suite if it only has one big room with one bed and a refrigerator? Overall the customer service was excellent and my siblings and me felt safe.
- Maureen (6/5): - Property was very clean but very outdated. Not for the modern traveler but for the traveler looking for a nostalgic “feel like home” experience. Love the location in the heart of town and the included breakfast.
- Yvonne (8/5): - Great customer service, food was good, clean room every day i stayed. I would stay there again when I'm in town
- Carl Anthony (6/5): - The property is desperately in need of repairs
- Princess (6/5): - Food was excellent!!!!
- Erica (10/5): - The hotel is located near a mall, good entertainment and places. The breakfast was really good. The room we had was spacious and clean. The desk attendant and security person was wonderful.
- Denise (4/5): - The property need updating and then it would be the best hotel in mandeville once more.
- karen (10/5): - Nice
- Beverley (10/5): - Staff both at the front desk and dining area were wonderful. They were very pleasant, caring, courteous, and concerned. The food was great. We always enjoy our meals mainly breakfast. It was also a quiet environment so we were able to rest and sleep well. The property is properly kept but could use some upgrades. The only problem was having the litle tiny ants known as "Sugar ants" in the room. They were very annoying. Overall, we enjoy our stay at the Mandeville hotel and would definitely recommend. Thanks to the staff at the hotel for helping to make my trip a very pleasant one. Thank you also Expedia for your involvement.
- Jason (2/5): - Tv didn't work and the pool wasn't clean staff wasn't very helpful
- ToniAnn (2/5): Not the best stay - Our overall stay was not what we expected. We chose this hotel due to its convenience. There was no water for 21/2 nights and mind you, no warm water for a good shower. The overall quality and appearance was not the best . This hotel is in desperate needs of refurbishing from the lobby to the bedrooms. Would be nice for a “Superior “ room to have a mini fridge. To get a drink of water, you pay $120 for a bottle. A few staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond which we appreciated. Check out was a nightmare, we requested a breakdown of the room charges and had to wait for hours for front desk to communicate with a supervisor to have this furnished.
Was I happy with the stay, no but would I stay here again, yes, for the convenience and location.
- Pauline (2/5): - The first night the air condition broke I asked the receptionist to move me to another room she said that was the last room I get. The next day the air condition broke again the receptionist came and fixed it, The third not the air condition broke again the receptionist move me to another room it was a mess at mandeville hotel, I would never recommend anyone to your hotel..pauline
- shan_yueing (2/5): Don't waste your time /money.Go else where - Based on the great reviews in the past(2019-2020) I thought this was an OK place to stay while in the parish but instead it was a nightmare.
No cameras on the floors or even outside!
The whole place looks run down, pool area closed off ( which wasn't mentioned online),coffee machine in room but no cups/coffee pots/teas.
How can you pay for someone where that offers a balcony where you have the option of sitting but you can't because the entire area floods out because of a leak that can easily be fixed..
Nightstand lights don't work ,they mentioned a safe but none was available!
Breakfast wasn't the best as options were limited ,you can also hear persons making loud banging noises on both ends while having sex,so obviously the rooms aren't sound proof!
I would recommend to the owners to do a full makeover so atleast this will be like the one owned in kingston.
Get rid of those pillows ,they'll give you a headache! Sheets, towels caused my skin to itch so bad,I could not sleep !
Like I said ,if you like comfort and somewhere you can sleep well go ahead and take my stupid idea and book somewhere else .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Place need to upgrade, room did not clean properly.front desk staff was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was satisfactory
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property needs to be updated, but the staff friendliness and competence more than made up for that. The breakfast was delicious and substantial.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I could not stay in mandeville hotel because the hotel is old and run down .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at The Mandeville Hotel. The staff is friendly, place clean and sanitzed. I also like the complimentary breakfast. This is my secobd visit and ai would recommend it . Also there is security on the premises.
My only disappointment is that due to Covid-19
The pool is closed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Security of the property, 24 hours of protection plus the staff is very responsive
- PortugalPassion (8/5): My perfect wedding. Forever thankful to the Mandeville Hotel - I am so glad I followed my heart and booked the Mandeville Hotel to host my wedding. I absolutely have no complaints and would not change a single thing. You cannot take the hotel at face value, you have to see its potential. From reading the reviews and visiting the hotel I knew they would be able to produce the experience we desired for such a special day.
I live in the UK and therefore was anxious, however, the customer service and professional, friendly and warm encounters with the Wedding Planners gave me peace of mind. I am a control freak and naturally it is difficult to be trusting. I manage a large team and always feel the need to be in control. Despite my constant calls and emails they maintained there ability to assure me.
The package and pricing was perfect for what they delivered. Trust me if there ever is a time to get married, small and intimate (and at the Mandeville Hotel) is the way to go. However at the Mandeville Hotel they went above and beyond to make our special day outstanding.
We had clean and comfortable beds. Our room was charming and relaxing. Nothing beats a good shower neither and I was not disappointed at all. Reception welcome and responses was perfect, breakfast was superb (I love a Jamaican Breakfast) and the customer service was perfect. I really had no complaints.
The wedding setting, decor and servicing was perfect. I had a vision of how everything was going to be, but Tanielle (My wedding planner) and her team blew my mind and those who know me, know how difficult that can be. The food, the cake, the DJ and the atmosphere has made it all a memory that I reflect on everyday since 26th September 2020. I would not change a thing.
I want to say a big thank you (with tears of gratitude) for making my dream come true and our wedding oh so special. Thank you for bearing and being patient with me. Thank you for making the stay oh soooo sweet. Thank you.
- Ramona (2/5): - I never stayed here BUT I HAD RESERVATIONS TO STAY HERE FROM AUG 29TH TO SEPT 2ND. ONLY TO FIND OUT ON AUG 27TH THAT DUE TO COVID-19 THEY COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE MY STAY. SO NOWWWW IM PANICKING TRYING TO FIND A PLACE TO STAY IN JAMAICA IN 1 DAY. THANKFULLY 12A VICTORIA WAS ABLE TO ASSIST LAST MINUTE. I WILL NEVER EVER MAKE RESERVATIONS AT THE MANDEVILLE HOTEL. THE ONLY REASON I FOUND OUT IS BECAUSE I CALLED THE HOTEL DIRECTLY TO MAKE SURE MY RESERVATIONS WERE MADE
- Relly (2/5): - This was the worst experience ever. I wanted to leave the minute I arrived but got in too late. From the front door the hotel looked dirty and outdated. The front desk had a rude attendant who refused to get sheets for us to make up the xtra bed placed in our room for a third person. The room was dirty. We had to show them that the towels hung were dirty. They did not care. The floor was slimy as if someone had just checked out and they had no maid at that time to clean the room prior to our arrival. The lobby was bear with Hardly any furniture. This hotel I understand is up for sale and really should not be lived in until the new owners renovate it and do a very deep cleaning. I did not want to take my clothes out my suitcase or walk on the floor barefooted It was very disgusting and travelocity should take it off this website. Thank God I booked Pegasus for my last two nights.
- BEVERLEY (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. I think the hotel needs elevator access to be disability compliant. Also, the room lock system needs to be updated to make them safer. Using physical keys with the room number printed on it is very dangerous for guests.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was very clean and the staffs are very helpful. The WiFi rearly work. Located close to everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very dated and old. Needs a renovation. Staff was nice and professional.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location. Needs updating. Very friendly staff, helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was our 4th time staying at this hotel, friendly and helpful staff
- EllaTraveller2019 (8/5): The Mandeville Hotel - Excellent Customer Service and Food!!!!! - The staff at the Mandeville Hotel are the best!!!
Coleen at the front desk sells the business. She is professional, pleasant, and accommodating. When I spoke with her via telephone, Coleen made me feel at ease even though I was worried. She is the face of the hotel. Rodian is polite and helpful; we had some good laughs. Zenga is the best, very professional, helpful, and friendly. He is very trustworthy. The food was excellent, like no other in Mandeville or even at most all-inclusive hotels. Customer service was exceptional. Miss Gurnett, the housekeeping lady, was excellent. I would stay at this hotel only because of the staff and the food. Everyone was friendly. I felt at home and ease. Thanks to the Chefs!!!! Nuff respect.
To the management, in this era, it's tough to produce competent workers with excellent customer service. You have a team of what I call the dream team of Coleen, Rodian, and Zenga, they are the face of your business, and they make you look good. Please take care of them, let them know they are appreciated. Workers like your dream team are scarce in the hospitality industry. The building needs a lot of updating, too outdated. We are in the 21st century. You can do a lot more and still keep it rustic authentic if that's what you are aspiring to reach. Lots of work needs to do. If you do that, then you have no competition in that region of the parish.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The fan and the AC wasn’t working at all. I called the front desk and they told me they will call maintenance but they never came. I will never visit this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a bit of a hassle to there due to excess traffic in the town. Once you get on property everything was good . Staff very courteous and helpful
- 760doreenm (8/5): Good value Hotel in Mandeville Jamaica - The staff of this traditional local hotel are all very approachable andthey go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms are large wirh bathroom and separate area with tea and coffee making facility.Daily room service and numerous fluffy white towels each morning. Tv in the room but not many viewing stations however we did not watch any TV.
Dinning room small but well maintained. Good selection of food available and excellent value for money. We had bed and breakfast but there are other options.
Good size swimming pool with numerous seating available. Some areas could do with updating but this is only cosmetic. I would certainly stay here again if find myself in that area of Jamaica.
- avionned (8/5): Great but with a little work could be Amazing! - This is a very nice hotel set in the heart of the city. My family and I spent our time in the 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was huge! Each bedroom has 2 double beds and each one has their own bathroom. The living room area has a couch and 2 single chairs; and to one side there is a dining table with chairs. The kitchen has a pantry area, microwave, and refrigerator. More than enough space for my family. The apartment has beautiful crown moldings and woodwork through out. The living area also has a porch where you can sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze. Now the reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is because the room could use some updating. The walls could use some paint. There was only 1 TV; the old tube kind and it wasn't even working properly at first. There was only 1 phone. The wifi was very spotty; mostly it didn't work. The living room chairs could use some updating too; you can see the age in them. The surrounding areas could be repaved as its falling apart. The sign for the hotel could be more compelling and attractive. The pool didn't look the cleanest and it was situated right in front of the restaurant so anyone sitting there would be looking right at you. Now back to the positives, their breakfast package was amazing! The food was delicious and you can even order it up to your room! The negatives are small but important enough that they should be attended to. Overall, I would definitely come back and I would hope that it would be an even better stay.
- ysseniat (8/5): Great for the price - This hotel exceeded my expectations. I was told by friends that since Mandeville isn’t a tourist town, I shouldn’t expect to find great hotels there so I had lowered my expectations tremendously. However, i was pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the Junior Suite with balcony . The room looked comfortable . The mattress was squeaky and needed to be changed however honestly we slept well. The AC worked well also. However the bathroom fixtures are old and need to be upgraded. We would have preferred a shower instead of a tub. There was also only one wash cloth for two guests. The pool needed to be cleaned and wasn’t turned on so that wasn’t an option for us. We appreciated the welcome drinks and we chose to have rum punch. The rum punch was well made and very strong. We also loved the buffet breakfast on Sunday. It was delicious with great choices. We felt like this hotel gave us value for our money.
- FJPfromUK (6/5): Traditional hotel in centre of Mandeville - Well located in the centre of Mandeville, but nevertheless fairly quiet. We had a large and pleasant room overlooking the pool (King room with balcony) and it was comfortable. Fridge and kettle provided, and a small but clean bathroom. Wifi not working to start with but later repaired. Spacious guarded parking area.
The restaurant food is simple and good (we enjoyed the Jamaican dinner and breakfast), though service is variable. Coffee, as all too often on the island which produces the best coffee in the world, is dreadful. Please acquire some (inexpensive) French press coffee pots and brew fresh coffee for guests - do not keep it heating on those awful coffee machines! Fruit juice not fresh, when the market is a few steps away, offering wonderful oranges - I cannot understand that.
Check in was fairly slow and we had to wait quite a time for a porter - necessary as there is no lift to the upstairs rooms.
Mandeville is a good place to stop for a couple of days, with lovely buildings to see very close to the hotel (beautiful historic courthouse and church, the covered market etc).
The hotel feels traditional and was pleasant and we would stay there again, though it would be good to receive better service and better coffee and juice!
- mikebrownspurs (6/5): Manchester hotel Mandeville - Quant small place to stay in Mandeville. Staff are curtious and polite. First impressions were good.
The down side is the place could do with a huge injection of cash as it was very dated. A few modern century luxuries could be put in place but the main this was that it was clean.
- channyb00 (6/5): Pleasant stay - I visited Mandeville in July to see my other half family who lives in Clarendon. Unlike Kingston (where I was staying) and the North coast, Mandeville wasn’t touristy which was perfect as it has this lovely feel about it with all the locals around and even though it was hot trust me it was a lovely temperature, cool place unlike Kingston that was boiling hot.
The hotel itself is in a perfect spot just a few minutes walk from the Main Street, close to KFC, shops and the police station (hotel down a little side road). First impressions was good, the hotel general decor had seen better days and it would be lovely if it updated even just fresh paint. Check in was swift (not a lot of people), receptionist was lovely and professional. I booked a Junior suite/room just because I triple checked reviews on tripadvisor as well as their website and realised only the Junior rooms were recently refurbished and I wanted somewhere comfortable, clean with a nice big bed, flat screen tv, mini fridge and AC which the room did deliver. The room was very big, very clean, shower over bath which wasn’t bad but be mindful Junior rooms are upstairs (if you have mobility issues like me but I managed). Breakfast was included in the price I paid which was really reasonable but I wasn’t a big fan, the escovitch fish was just a fillet of some kind of fish coated in breadcrumbs (not nice) so I ordered a cheese omelet instead which was ok. My biggest disappointment was the pool it was closed and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned or used in a long time; the reason I booked a room there was so that I could take a dip in the pool because I was so hot even though Mandeville wasn’t as hot as Kingston, nonetheless the pool should be in use and clean so that visitors can have the choice of cooling off in the summers heat! From what I can use mostly locals use the hotel so maybe they aren’t interested in using the pool but it should still be cleaned. That said I really love the area, Mandeville is really nice, the hotel convenient and comfortable so I extended my stay ($50/60 us without breakfast ) people are friendly I found a salon nearby and did my hair and nails for a fraction of the price I buy in Kingston. We didn’t eat at the restaurant other than for breakfast because there were a lot of places to eat only minutes away from the hotel. I will definitely be coming back on my next visit to Jamaica but only will be booking the Junior room unless the other rooms are also renovated because all the other rooms are outdated.
- anthonycD5176TX (10/5): Birthday Party....well done Mandeville Hotel. - We made the perfect choice of putting on our Mom's birthday party at the Mandeville Hotel in Jamaica, on June 1st, 2018. Everyone had a great time and for me, I'm looking forward to doing my next big event at this venue.
The entire hotel staff was great !!! On our arrival at the front desk we were pleasantly greeted by Amanie, Sirieka and Nikita...they were very warm and made us felt comfortable; enquiring how was our flight, the drive down to Mandeville, and gave us the assurance that, if we needed anything, they were there to help. Wow !!! at that point we knew we had made the right choice.
The decoration of the hall was beautiful and just the way I had discussed with Amanie during the booking/planning stage. The lovely blue and gold background definitely enhanced our pictures and worked well with our gold theme for the party.
The food was very delicious... prepared by Chefs Linda and Jerry. It was also served on time, much to the satisfaction of our guests. We could not have asked for a better presentation of a three course meal.
I must say a special thanks to Amanie for the professional way she handled our booking/planning and the ultimately delivery on a day that meant so much to us. She is a valued employee in my book. I also spoke once with Tanielle of Groups & Events Sales Department, a true professional who did exactly what she promised on that occasion.
How could I forget Paul, the pleasant all rounder, whom I met in and around the hotel, always ready to give direction or help if needed. Room service was great and punctual .with the meal still hot.
Thank you guys for making our special birthday event one to remember. Our guests were so happy they are already asking when is the next event and also wanted the Mandeville hotel info with a view of planning their own events in the future.
The first impression by your front desk ladies (Sireika, Nikita and Amanie) had us totally sold. You guys exceeded our expectation, keep up the good work and see you soon.... great job !!!!!
- jaclarke152018 (10/5): The BEST 80th Birthday party for our mum!!!!!! - We arranged our mum's 80th birthday party from the UK at the beautiful Mandeville Hotel in Jamaica on May 19th 2018 and can honestly say it was absolutely perfect! It was a purple, silver and white theme party. We did not have to worry or stress about anything we just left it in the hands of the capable, professional & dedicated Sales & Events Team, who arranged the most beautiful event for our mum! Everything was just the way we envisaged it would be, from the menu, the DJ/music, right down to the decoration. Special Thanks to Amanie who was the main staff member, who we liaised with from the UK, and who was so patient and understanding. Our friends and family are still talking about it. The Mandeville Hotel made our dreams come true. Thank you so much to everyone involved who helped in arranging this wonderful event! You guys are truly amazing!
- DavidE35 (10/5): Head for the HILLS! - Our stay here two years ago was very good, with a few problems like the hot water not working most of the time. This trip, however, is incredible! The hot water problem is solved. No problem with any of that. At our arrival we were greeted by a desk staff that was efficient and welcoming. Sireka and Nikita are very helpful and caring. When we got to our room, a "Junior Suite" that overlooks the pool, we found it had been completly renovated, and was absolutely beautiful. New furniture, plumbing, air conditioning, decor. My bride and I were awestruck. The transformation was complete. The Mandeville Hotel is an old, historic hotel in the center of Mandeville, a large city in the center of Jamaica, and definitely up in the hills. As I write this, at 11 in the morning, the skies are partly cloudy, breezy, and the temperature is in the mid 70's. MUCH more pleasant than being in a hot town, although of course it lacks the ocean. But the pool is well maintained, and the temperature is just about perfect. As with any old hotel, there are things that you don't get in a real modern place, like an elevator, but the stairs are not many, and the staff will help with anything that is needed. The place is secure, with gated and guarded parking. About two and a half hours from MoBay, and worth every minute. The trip here was more than scenic, and going through the winding road up the mountains was nice!
- JenniferD860 (6/5): Excellent customer service - The wear and tear of the hotel is showing, however the customer service is outstanding. Any issue or concerns you experience at this property, please speak with Paul in management, he is phenomenal with resolving all complaints.
- natlove007 (8/5): Nice Hotel in a great location - We stayed at the Mandeville Hotel is June. The hotel is in the center of Mandeville, prime location to everything.
The hotel is nice but just needs a little updating. The front desk and restaurant staffs were great. They provided great customer service with smiles..
Oh,the breakfast though.. yummy. As a traveler and a food blogger I surely do recommend this hotel's restaurant. The Ackee and salt fish meal was delicious and so was the real Jamaican coffee..
I will definitely be visit The Mandeville Hotel again, for sure..
- WomanofValour1964 (10/5): Amazing - On 6th May 2017, we held my father' Memorial at the Mandeville Hotel. Because I reside in the UK, all arrangments had to be communicated by email or phone. I really must commend the Hospitalty,Catering and all staff concerned with this special event, especailly Armani - Events Personnel. She alleviated all my concerns, stress and worries with her extremly efficent and professional approach; promptly responding to my emails and phone calls. The venue was beautifully decorated, with the staff bringing my vision to reality. The food was absolutely scrumptous, and plentify too. And the C hef (yes, he or she is deserving of a Capital letter), and waiters /waitresses were polite, courteous and friendly. Not forgetting the DJ who span the tunes we had prepared for the day, in addition to his own appropriate choices, without fault.
What can I say? A great time was had be all. I would definately recommend this venue for speacial events. Don't waste time researching the rest, when here, you have, THE BEST!!
- andreaj84 (4/5): Rain worms !?!?!? - Greetings fellow travelers,
Just returned from a stay at the Mandeville hotel that unfortunately didn't rate very well. The reason being were "rain worms". Stayed in room 79 and from the first day to the last, we dealt with varying degrees of this wing wiggly thing. On top of this they shed their wings which were EVERYWHERE! When we advised the front desk, we were simply told " they don't bite". !?!?!? As if having them crawl all over you because they are on top of and IN the bed is acceptable! Smh. The grounds were pleasant enough as well as the staff and the food was good (traditional Jamaican). Unfortunately the rain worm issue clouded the entire stay ☹😞☹. Won't be returning......
- bumblebee344 (6/5): "Good Hotel......could be a step better" - The experience we had was in December, a group of associates. For a Christmas Dinner the setting was poor(needed a little more in terms of decor), The menu which consisted of Fish, Ham(optional) for those who prefer otherwise, chicken.. potato salad was lacking, the dish could have been a little more attractive, some of us were disappointed as this was the second year that were were catered for at the hotel. The first year(2015) was better. The staff did what they could under the circumstances. For a hotel in the town center, they need to step it up a little.
- jamiejet (8/5): A Good Hotel For Birdwatchers - After chaotic Kingston, I was ready for a calmer town. Mandeville fit the bill and I enjoyed my stay at Mandeville Hotel. I like the architecture and grounds of this hotel. The room was not homey or anything special but it was large. On a very rainy day, I watched BBC Masterpiece Theater and Agatha Christie mysteries in my room. On all the other days, it was sunny. I saw many bird species on my walks on country roads around the town, but I also saw many right on the grounds of the hotel. (the author of THE BIRDS OF JAMAICA lives in Mandeville, one of Jamaica's best birding areas) Most of my meals were at the hotel restaurant where the service was good and friendly. I enjoyed the typical Jamaican dishes served. I still remember the coconut pie. My stay here was restful and therapeutic.
