Guest Reviews
- Claire (10/5): Very relaxing and we were well looked after - The food was lovely & presented well
We pretty much had the whole facilities to ourselves and the staff were very accommodating Choice of drinks was limited
- Amalia.Papa (10/5): Excellent place! - Outstanding team, excellent restaurant, very nice pool, comfortable rooms, very clean establishment, we loved it! Nothing we didn't like
- Nadine (9/5): -
- Heinrich (9/5): -
- Annmarie (10/5): Beautiful friendly and clean , we loved our stay at Kuwera eco lodge a must stay in Sri Lanka , thank you! - Staff were very friendly and very helpful, and kind
Close to both rocks to climb.
They arrange transport and catered for
Us being Vegan and vegetarians .
The villa was beautiful clean and the pool was perfect !
- Jan (10/5): Aussergewöhnlich - Lage, sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal, ruhig, sauber Alles war sehr gut
- Amy (6/5): - Very nice and friendly staff. Close to what we were in the area for (Pidurangala/Sigiriya). The pool looked great however it rained most of the time we were there and the water was very cold when it wasn't raining! Some of the food was great. Maybe it was because of the rain but our whole room was damp. The bed was damp and all of our belongings were damp by the time we left. The bed was very uncomfortable. The massage we had wasn't great - the shirodhara smelled like burnt oil and made my hair feel awful afterwards - the spa was very expensive for what it was. Most of the food was nice but it wasn't made clear that we were being charged for dinners until we checked out and they were on the bill. Until then I just assumed I'd booked a room that included meals.
- Giorgia (10/5): A Natural Paradise - This place is already a paradise because of the natural beauty and peaceful vibe.
But what made our experience truly memorable is your staff.
Every single person from the manager to the staff, made us feel special every single moment and the service we received was even better than a five star hotel.
We are leaving sad but also happy because we know we will come back. not much options in the food menu but food was really tasty and traditional
- Martin (10/5): - Beautiful location, rooms were really nice. Great food, very friendly and helpful staff.
- Ines (9/5): -
- Tim (9/5): Truly relaxing and full of comfort in the middle of amazing nature. Great value. - We really enjoyed the beautiful location and the way the lodges were integrated into the trees. We also loved rthe breakfast and the dinner and the very he;pful staff.
- Ines (9/5): -
- Gill (8/5): Relaxing, tranquil with lovely food and a warm welcome. - The setting is perfect for people wanting peace and seclusion but still only a 10 minute drive or 30 minute cycle (using Kuwera’s rudimentary bikes, which we enjoyed very much!) from the main town. The cottages are set sympathetically in the trees surrounding the pool and restaurant area, and we found our cabin (for 4 people) to be very comfortable with a lovely bathroom and outdoor shower, not something we’ve had before! The pool, surrounded by a canopy of trees and wooden cabanas, was a perfect place to relax. The staff were without exception courteous and welcoming. Breakfast was varied and very tasty and we enjoyed our evening meals, vegetarian rice and curry, with no two dishes the same on either occasion. Very good indeed!

- Marco (8/5): -
- Jens (7/5): Friendly - yet very dark without view and food without spices - As usual in Sri Lanka, the people are very friendly Food was almost without any spices (I guess made for majority of western tourists).
Entire premise and espcially the rooms was all a bit too dark and unfortunately no view
Very remotely - you need to have a driver to get away (which is not unimportant as food is not good and you cannot walk on the road by yourself in the night as you are basically next to jungle and snakes/elephants are crossing the road)
- Josepha (9/5): - Really cute place, nice breakfast and good value for money.
- Joy (10/5): Perfect! - Amazing spot with outstanding staff! Nothing was too much trouble; Kasuni on reception organised a last minute Loris viewing trip when we couldn’t find a space online. She also sorted out our transport to local sights.
Ruvin was a perfect waiter and the food was absolutely delicious; some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. Our compliments to Asela the chef.
The cabins are rustic with 5 star service and food. Nothing
- Aaltje (9/5): A very very peaceful location - A very beautiful place with nice swimming pool. Very helpful staff and we could use the bicycles from the Lodge for sight seringen in the area.
- Harry Ellerup (8/5): -
- Polly (9/5): Beautiful surroundings and lovely staff - Lovely peaceful setting - lush and leafy, with an attractive restaurant/bar at the centre, a very nice pool and the sound of birds everywhere. The staff were very friendly - they gave us a warm welcome with a good briefing about the surroundings and lodge, the restaurant/bar man was so helpful and hardworking, there from morning to night and explaining each and every dish to us, and the lodge has a good sustainability ethos (with fresh filtered water rather than plastic). We also had a nice tour of the organic farm at the back, with a lady who spoke very good English, and the farmer made us corn he had harvested that morning - a nice touch. The food is good - it is a set menu without choice, but we liked that as it kept things simple and we are very happy with the local food. All in all we really liked this place. The beds were a bit too soft and squishy, which is a pity as everything else was so perfect. I do suggest the management invest in new beds and then I would have given 10/10.
- Kathryn (10/5): This is the best and most beautiful place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka. Thank you to the wonderful staff. - Kuwera Eco Lodge has a beautiful jungle setting and is a smaller property with excellent personalized service. The accommodations are private and comfortable. Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): Very relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings - Made welcome from the minute we arrived.
Treated ourselves to a gorgeous massage and reflexology session that afternoon.
The food and breakfasts were delicious with something different everyday. The staff went above and beyond everyday to make our stay memorable - thank you everyone:-) The site is outside of the main town of sygiria but there are taxis and tuk tuks available to get you to all the sites.
- Charlotte (9/5): We only stayed 2 nights and would loved to have stayed longer to make more of the relaxing surroundings - The beautiful setting
Individual lodges
Friendly and helpful staff
Great food
Spa massage / yoga Loved the tree top area to have drinks but the furniture was a little tired
- Preben Kläning (9/5): - La nature La gentillesse du personnel
- Lecocq (7/5): Was ok, great location but we won’t go back - Location is great, in the jungle. Really calm and you can here all the animals during the night. To sleep is exceptionnel. A haven of peace. There was a weird smell, we tried to get it out with incense for 2 days, but nothing worked. We signaled multiple times to staff but they not really did something.
The smell got in our clothes and bags so we need to wash everything after. Also the prices of the minibar are more expensive then in Europe. During the day you can get a juice wich will be 4 Times the price of all nearby restaurants. To eat in the evening is also expensive and too be honest not really good. We ate one time and regretted not going to the local restaurant.
- Dave (10/5): Worth staying - Very nice location, excellent service, staff is very courteous and welcoming
- Arne (10/5): -
- Rob (10/5): Sustainable comfort in the heart of nature - We stayed three nights at Kuwera Eco Lodge and, from the moment we arrived, every staff member we met was friendly and attentive and seemed to take real pride in their work.
We stayed in the Traditional House with its simple design and atmosphere, where the outdoor shower was stunning. There’s a strong sense of being in nature rather than just looking at it: birdsong, rustling leaves, that earthy jungle stillness that makes you wriggle out of the grasp of routine.
The food was excellent throughout—fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently satisfying.
One highlight was the Ayurvedic massage with a closing steam bath, set beside the jungle. The setting made it a heavenly experience.
For those after ab eco-lodge where comfort, kindness and the natural world feel seamlessly connected, Kuwera Eco Lodge delivers. Nothing bad to report.
- Raphael (10/5): Relaxing paradise in the middle of the jungle - The staff was incredibly kind and very helpful. The lodge is in a quiet area in the forest. Everything is done with care and attention to detail. So far off, we did not even have good mobile data, making it hard to arrange PickMe/Uber pickups and WiFi was flaky in the bedroom.
- CADD83 (8/5): excellent sejour - emplacement pleine nature, personnel tres agréable et repondant aux attentes, cuisine vegan, vin à disposition, à 15mn de SIGIRYA rien
- Olivier (9/5): -
- Iris (10/5): -
- Stephanie (9/5): Boutique, Eco experience - Full of character, sympathetically built in traditional style, boutique feel. A real gem of a place. About 10 mins drive from the main village and Lion’s Rock! Very attentive staff, who helped us with local taxis & onward transfers, but also sharing information whilst we were deciding what to do after the cyclone had hit the country. Incredibly helpful. We also all had the wonderful massage and steam room experience - would recommend! Only a small issue, but no WiFi in the room
- Tyronne (8/5): A pleasant stay in the Sigiriya area, close to all attractions with friendly staff and good amenities. - The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was neat and tidy with an aircon and hot shower. The room had little privacy from the main dining area. The cost was a bit high for what you got.
- Celine (8/5): Heerlijk in de jungle - Mooie huisjes
Super goed ontbijt
Heel gastvrij personeel Het ligt vrij afgelegen
- Meg (9/5): -
- Jennifer (8/5): A wonderful retreat. Not touristy. Very relaxing. Very authentic. Very comfortable. Would go again - Staff is amazing. Rooms are very clean, very comfortable, good beds, nice linen, good air conditioning. We had a minor issue with our rooms and were moved to another bungalow. Meals are good, plentiful, and made to order. Staff helped us to arrange excursions to area UNESCO heritage sites as well as an elephant safari with good drivers. Massage was amazing. Pool is beautiful. WiFi is a bit spotty but understandable as you are literally in the jungle and close to an elephant preserve....but still able to communicate with outside world pretty well.
- Sally-Anne (10/5): We would recommend this place in a heartbeat and had such a happy start to our holiday. - We loved the resort feeling of the property. The staff were unbelievable friendly and helpful. Food was fabulous and the bar was well run too.
Niets.
- Andreas (8/5): freundliches Personal - Sehr versteckt Auswahl Abendessen
- lc06 (9/5): Beautiful resort, a little too expensive for what it offers - Warm welcome
Beautiful setup, garden, pool, restaurant.
Good quality internet in the common premises
Location close to the main sights No Wifi in the rooms.
Meals very expensive with no reason, very good curries similar to what you can have for several times less. Lunch snack very basic.
Location remote in a dead end so fully dependent upon the hotel services only.
Mosquito net had holes.
Small things were to be fixed when we checked in (power outlet, sink, lamp) that would have been easy to check, but they were very reactive.
All this shouldn't hamper the fact that the resort is really nice and we had a good time there despite the heavy rains.
Rien
- Reinhart (9/5): -
- Tina Punchimenika (10/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Natural, comfortable and exceptionally accommodating - Very friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful location, the hotel was very accommodating and Marlin our driver from the hotel was wonderful and very informative on every journey he took us on.
- Katrina (10/5): - The facilities at Kuwera are superb - we really enjoyed the pool, Ayurvedic treatments and our cabin. The staff went out of their way to help us. It was the perfect base for our trip to Sigirya and Pidurangala. Nothing - our stay was perfect.
- Deb (10/5): Beautiful eco-resort. Luxery combined with sustainability - We loved their farm, walks, the peacefulness, the ayurvedic massage and steam. We loved our friendly and attentive the staff were. We were greeted so warmly and the trip just got better from that moment onwards. Nothing, it was perfect
- Julia (7/5): Resort style setting in nature - The property was nice with trees and a pool. The food was good - although portions were very big! - and the rooms were spacious. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful. You will see bird and insect life at the property - bring mosquito repellant! The property was quite far out of the Sigiriya township, meaning you are quite reliant on the hotel to drive you around, unless you’ve organised your own transport.
- Marta (9/5): -
- Brian (10/5): The place to be in this part of Sri Lanka. - It’s traditional and sustainable presentation. Nothing.
- Gloria (9/5): -
- Zito Semaan (10/5): Amazing forest like resort, with good food, nice pool, nice outdoor shower. - The unique aspect of being almost in a jungle yet having all the amenities of a hotel. The pool is great. The dinner is great. You will expect to encounter animals inside the vicinity such as squirrels, birds, dogs even a small white snake I saw, but that is part of the experience.
The staff are very attentive. My favorite was the outdoor shower!
The tree house is amazing for an evening! Nothing specific. Feedback for improvement, there was a big cockroach in the room when we entered. And bare in mind that you need a car transportation to get to the hotel because its not close to main roads.
- Magreth (8/5): -
- Peter (7/5): Peaceful Jungle Retreat with Warm Hospitality - Tucked away in a lovely jungle setting, this peaceful retreat offers a truly relaxing atmosphere, with wildlife all around and the soothing sounds of nature while sitting in the garden or by the pool. We received a warm welcome, and the traditional family-style house was charming, with comfortable beds, tea and coffee facilities, and a refreshing outdoor shower. The breakfast was delicious, especially the mixed fruit platter, and although the Sri Lankan buffet set menu was enjoyable for one evening, there weren’t many other dinner options—but overall, it was a great stay at a reasonable price. Did not change the towels for the 3 days we were there. No choice of food options at night for dinner only the set menu - Sri Lankan curry.
- Guido (10/5): Fantastic stay in most beautiful eco lodge - A beautiful small scale place in the beautiful jungle in Sigiriya. Our stay in the traditional Sri Lankan house was great. So much nice atmosphere, comfortable and with tropical outdoor shower. The nicest and best qualified staff ever. Nice swimming pool and the kids loved the treehouse. And so much attention for nature, wildlife and sustainability. No green washing, but true intention for a better world. Nothing not to like
- Lucky (9/5): Nice and convenient place to visit Sigiriya and more - The lodge has nice and komfortable rooms with a beautiful situated clean pool. You will miss nothing what you really need. It is a perfekt starting point to visit surrounding attractions like Sigiriya.
- Darshana (8/5): Very good -
- Nicolas (8/5): Very good - Nice place and super friendly staff
- Laura (9/5): Perfect spot for exploring the cultural triangle and nearby elephant safaris. - Beautiful eco hotel, amazing swimming pool and were treated to an upgrade with an outdoor shower which was very cool. Staff were so lovely. We didn’t enjoy the suggested visit to the spice garden which the hotel driver took us to after a day trip elsewhere as it felt like a bit of a scam (we looked at google reviews afterwards which did back that up).
- Darryl (9/5): Superb - Felt like a special place where although giving all the holiday vibes you felt part of the surroundings/area in a less overly tourist way. Its quite remote so talking a walk into the town isn't really viable a tuktuk is required.
- Anouk (10/5): Most amazing beautiful place - Kuwera Lodge is a really wonderful place, beautifully designed, the pool is really nice, surrounded by trees. The buildings are beautiful, built in the traditional style, the family room was really comfortable and clean. And the whole place was so calm, friendly and amazing, especially due to the staff and owners! From the start we felt really welcome with a warm greeting, excellent garlic tea (wow!), wet towels and a personal instruction to the place, so welcoming from the start! Food was excellent. We really would have stayed longer and regretted having to leave. Nothing! Just know that the place is a little out of town, but we found this really a plus.
- Olivia (10/5): The rooms are very well decorated. The staff is the best. 100% recommend ! - The eco lodge is beautiful ! The manager supported us in organizing all or trip to Sigirya, she was perfect ! The food was AMAZING and I fully recommend the massage and steam bath. Nothing
- Donatella (10/5): Nice getaway in the jungle - It is a nice haven in the jungle but with all the right facilities (even a bidet in the bathroom). Dinner was excellent. I had a massage with local steam bath: blissful! I would have spent more than one night for sure. Nothing
- Alexey (9/5): Very comfortable and relaxing - Very relaxing Better choice of food for lunch and dinner would add value
- Ben (10/5): Epic experience in the jungle - just amazing. - Just stunning! We stayed in the ‘traditional house’ (aka family bungalow on booking.com) - a fully sustainably made lodge using traditional methods to incredibly high standards inside. So clean, so well done and very well executed everywhere - loved it!
The swimming pool was great for everyone and a decent depth. A really welcome break from the heat.
We had a family massage that went surprisingly well! The kids had 30 mins each while adults did the full Ayurvedic thing for an hour - defo do this while staying - it’s a good price.
Overall this was by far our best hotel in Sri Lanka and we wished we’d stayed longer! Wider selection of alcohol if possible, but understand why not!
- Keren (9/5): Superb -
- Chiara (9/5): Superb -
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Beautiful spot - Great peaceful spot. We loved the sustainability aspect after having to get plastic bottles for water during our trip beforehand - they have water to get get from reception and fill provided jugs for your room. The place uses solar panels and respects the surrounding nature which we thought was great too. We loved the garden and how veggies from there are used in the dinners. We loved how the place still had all the surrounding trees. The pool was lovely to swim in. The room was beautiful with all wanted comforts (AC, mozzy net, comfy bed, clean linen, towels, etc.) and we enjoyed the outdoor shower. The staff were all friendly and professional. The breakfast and dinner is a small extra charge and we enjoyed them greatly - very delicious - we thought the breakfast might be included with the price which may be better in the future as most people got the breakfast - but also it makes sense if some people maybe don't at times :). We borrowed bikes which we thought might be too hot but absolutely ended up loving riding to climb up the smaller Rock and into town as well - it was better in the morning (roughly 8am) but we also rode in the heat midday - the roads are quite shaded - the bike riding through was a highlight as you are so close to the national park and it's beautiful!
- Alex (10/5): Tranquil, clean, calm lodge with wonderful staff - The staff were incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived. They seated us and gave us frozen towels to refresh after our long drive, before showing us to our beautiful room. We had a standard double room, but it didn’t feel too small, and was perfect for the 2 nights we stayed. The bathroom was stunning, with windows looking into the trees while you shower which was lovely. Everything was so clean and the room was serviced each day. The hotel is slightly out of the way and down a bumpy dirt road, however, we were able to navigate it fine in our tuktuk, and we loved the peaceful setting after long days out. Because of the distance from other hotels and restaurants, we also had dinner at the resort both nights, but it was fantastic so we were happy we did. We would absolutely come back to Kuwera. It was a wonderful start to our trip around Sri Lanka, and everyone was so welcoming and kind. Thank you!
- Gilda (8/5): Very good -

- Socalfilly (10/5): Serene property with welcoming hosts. - Our stay at Kuwera Eco Lodge was amazing! the pool was beautiful and refreshing, and the dinners from the restaurant (they offer a different set menu of local dishes each night) were all fantastic. We stayed in the family room which is a traditional mud house (the owners said they are building more traditional huts on the property in the future)! We loved the connection to the local culture and the natural building materials, and the house even had a fabulous outdoor shower! The grounds and gardens were also stunning, the staff works hard and are very welcoming.
- Nicola (9/5): Peaceful jungle stay - Lovely hotel set in the jungle. The rooms were well appointed - spacious bathroom, fridge, safe, comfy bed and nice outdoor area. The pool was freaking and clean. Nice big breakfast and good set dinner for 10 USD. Filtered water was a plus. A clothes rack to dry swimming clothes would be useful.
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional -
