- Bernadette (10/5): will be back great location lovely owners and great scenery - the location was magnificent nothing
- Fern (10/5): Second time staying here and will absolutely book again - Great location, perfect for dogs as not many cars passing. Beds were comfortable and rooms were very clean. Host is lovely and very accommodating. Nothing
- Diarmuid (10/5): -
- louise (10/5): 2nd visit and won’t be the last. We love the peaceful location and the beautiful views - The location was just perfect with the most stunning views. Fire was lit on our arrival. Paddy was the perfect host. Cottage’s well equipped and perfectly situated for exploring the area. Beautiful sunset and sunrise The electric meter. We spent a fortune on trying to keep the rooms warm. Freezing cold bathrooms
- Eoin (10/5): -
- Shauna (10/5): I had the most amazing week. Paddy was very attentive when we needed anything he arrived up straight away. A beautiful r - Its location- remote and very beautiful Needs some updating in the bathrooms
- David (10/5): I’ll tell you what it was amazing, great for our purpose of golf and escape - I’ll tell you what the location was unbelievable I’ll tell you what there was nothing wrong with this gaff
- LesleyMcMB (8/5): - Great location Nothing
- Travel-Warrior (6/5): - Location & Views. The only source of heat for the bedrooms and bathrooms are electric radiators. To keep the house at a comfortable temperature, we averaged €20/day in the meter plus €10/day in solid fuel. Potential guests should budget an extra €200 per week for heating in colder months.
Top tip: Turn off the radiator in the sunroom. We discovered it behind the L-shaped sofa on the last day. We put less in the meter after turning it off.
House could do with modernisation.

- Lesley-Anne (10/5): Gorgeous, comfortable and welcoming - The location is incredible, a little island oasis. The beds were very comfortable, gorgeous views from every room and it being dog friendly was a bonus. The fire lighting when we arrived was a lovely welcome. Nothing
- Michael (8/5): - Nice house in a nice location. Fire was lightning for us when we got there and paddy was very helpful. House was hard to heat but to be expected this time of year and electric meter can be heavy on electricity.
- Tara (10/5): -
- Holly (9/5): Lovely & relaxing stay in a beautiful location. - The location was beautiful & so tranquil. It was very handy to get to Downings & Paddy was always very helpful. Nothing.
- Emilie (8/5): Spacious, scenic accommodation - The house was large, the sauna was nice, lovely Views. Everything was simple and owner was friendly. The house was hard to heat, but then again it is Donegal in January.
If you are traveling on a tight budget, the electricity meter might come as a bad surprise. We had to pay around 10 euro a day to have it running. Probably not an issue for most people and it would be less in warmer weather...

- DANIEL (8/5): Brilliant house and cracking location, we will definitely be back - Perfect location and sea views all round, Sauna is brilliant and rooms are big. Bed are very comfortable and house is a good size Paying for electric but it was expected, cost us about 20 euro per day because it was cold that week so had to keep the radiators on
- Shauna (7/5): -
- Marcos (10/5): -
- Sinead (10/5): - Beautiful location with a fantastic view from the living room. Paddy was really helpful with all our queries and always answered any questions we had during our stay. The house itself is clean and has plenty of space. Would highly recommend and hopefully I'll be lucky enough to stay again in future. Cheers. Nothing
- sharon (10/5): - We stayed for 2 nights for a family celebration. We had 3 houses taken. Each house had a lovely fire lit and heating on for us when we arrived. They were clean, comfortable and had plenty of space. The kitchens were all fully kitted out with everything you would need. The electricity is run by a meter and we spent about €20 per day which was OK considering the heating was on all day and night along with TV, showers, kettle etc being used a good bit. Fabulous location right on the sea and close to Downings and Carrigart. We definitely would recommend it!
- Shirley (10/5): We will be back again. - I have stayed here many times and location is superb. My grandson loved the sauna he’s 17 and thought this was great. Pets are welcome and my dogs love the beach which is a short distance away.
- martin (10/5): - Excellent location.
Place tidy and paddy had fire lit.
- Diana (10/5): - Labai rami vieta.Lavai gražūs vaizdai pro langą.Visaką radom ko reikėjo mums.
Nustebino sauna nors labai maža bet užteko pasikaitinti.Super.
Leidžiama su augintiniais čia didžiausias pliusas. Buvom žiemą tai gringys koridoriuje ir vonios kambaryje šaltos reikia tapkių.
- William (9/5): Great mini break - Location Weather
- Diamond (10/5): - Stayed for 3 nights in December with friends for my birthday, absolutely perfect..great views, comfortable beds and a cozy open fire! Paddy was a Fantastic host , highly recommended and would definitely stay again!
- Inga (10/5): Amazing, cosy and very unique place - Amazing location… beautiful walk on the island. Village close to reach by the car. Fireplace was lovely and host had it lit 🔥 prior our arrival Electric meter and it runs on 1€ or 2€ coins. Was extra 35€ for two nights stay.. overall not a complaint as accommodation price very reasonable
- Pauline (8/5): - Brilliant location for humans and dogs alike. Loved the welcoming fire roaring when we arrived. Lovely warm showers and comfy, clean beds. Good communication from owner. The additional electric costs. Dog friendly but could do with a wee bit of updating, especially the heating system. However would love to return.
- Gerry (8/5): - We loved the setting. The two houses suited us ideally. The lit open fire on our arrival was very welcoming.
Despite the points listed below we had a very enjoyable time. A little surprised that electrical power was a separate charge! I presume the reason for this, in part, was due to the expensive and inefficient electrical convector heating system. We would not have wished to be paying for this for a longer stay in cold weather.
We cooked every evening for 8 people. It was challenging to use the electrical hob as the heat markings had been obliterated for the most part. It was difficult to know what level of heat was being provided. Some instructions for the use of the dishwasher would have been helpful - there were more lights on it than an electric car dash!
The shaver light in the bathroom was not working.
- Shirley (10/5): - The location was excellent and it was very homie. Patrick checked up on us and let us know the water would be off for a day. The fact we had to leave
- Ceinwen (10/5): I will absolutely be back ! - This was a magical stay ! The location is breathtaking and the house was so clean and cozy Nothing it was fabulous
- Joanne (7/5): Peaceful Retreat - Amazing views in a safe and scenic location. Comfortable beds. The electricity meter which had to be fed every day with euro coins. Kitchen, living and bathroom areas need updating.
- Iain (9/5): -
- ANN (8/5): -
- ivan (10/5): Omer’s lovely people and have great memories - Lovely and clea
N Location
- Olwen (7/5): Great location and space for a group of friends but the property needs a bit more care and maintenance - The location and view is stunning. The beds and linen were crisp and clean. Lovely large white towels. Friendly owner. Friendly neighbourly dogs. Nice open fire. Lovely sunroom with great views. Value for money. Good parking With a little more care this property could be 5 star. However the pots and pans need replaced. One is very dangerous with a spinning handle. There was only 1 tea towel and no dishcloth, just one grubby sponge scrub. No basics like salt and pepper. The main bathroom needs updated and a bath mat for safety. The patio doors don’t open and need maintenance. Coats hooks would be useful
- Elizabeth Ann (9/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Really good stay and great location. - Views were beautiful
Very relaxing Need pots and pans renewed
- stuart (10/5): - Beautiful location and fantastic accommodation. Situated perfectly. Paddy is a gentleman and we will be booking again without question.

- Thomas (10/5): Perfect for a relaxing family stay. - Absolutely fabulous stay with my family in May 2025. The location is idillic and so peaceful. The house has everything you need for a brilliant family stay. We loved being so close to the water and a short drive to restaurants, beaches and bars.
- Jenna (9/5): -
- Ciaran (10/5): -
- Ashleigh (3/5): Needs TLC - Comfy beds and good location The place needs a lot of TLC. The house smelled of damp and wet dog- carpet throughout a pet friendly place is not very hygienic. Listing photos are not accurate of the current state of facilities.
- Simone (10/5): Fabulous few days away! - Location was super, fabulous views from the cottage. We enjoyed being able to walk our dogs round Island Roy, and the beautiful beaches in Downings close by. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
- Duggan (9/5): Superb -
- Frances (9/5): Amazing views, peaceful location and excellent value for money. - The location of the property is absolutely fantastic. The views are incredible - being surrounded by water with views of the mountains - is exceptional. It's such a peaceful location, yet quick and easy to get to all the places we needed to. I love the bedroom layouts which provided flexibility for the family. The kitchen had everything we needed. The host was excellent - very good communication and it was easy to find the property and enter it. Some may say the property is a little dated and needs some work. I'd say, it's amazing value for money so is to be expected. I'd definitely stay again.
- Annmarie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful home and location. The scenery is amazing. All the equipment u need is there, beds super comfy and all slept soundly. Owner paddy is so nice and welcoming and is available anytime if needed. We did not have to contact him during our stay at all. Loved everything

- Elaine (10/5): A beautiful few days spent with family in a beautiful cottage with the most wonderful views - The beautiful view from cottage and the peace and quiet on the island.

paddy was on hand to answer any questions.
thanks paddy.
- Joe (10/5): Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location, great value thanks - Beautiful cottage, a roaring fire welcomed us, very comfortable beds, the most beautiful sun room and gorgeous views - 10 out of 10. Very friendly and helpful host made us very welcome.
- Tom (2/5): Very poor - Great location. Fire was lit when we arrived A bit damp. Also extremely expensive electricity meter that requires coins. Probably reselling at a higher rate which is illegal
- Gerald (6/5): Pleasant -
- Giannina (10/5): A Peaceful, relaxing haven on a tiny island in Donegal. - The view from the house was beautiful. So peaceful. It’s a lovely walk into Downings but also a quick drive. No complaints whatsoever. Paddy popped in to say hello. The dogs absolutely loved it. Opened the door and they could be free and enjoy the sea at times also. Beautiful stay for a peaceful getaway with the family. Nothing.
- Paula (8/5): Nice for a few days away - Nice and quiet lovely scenery The price of the electric
- Loughlan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (8/5): Very good -
- Bhuyan (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing place for holiday. The views from there is lovely. We had a good time over there. We’ll go again for sure.
- Sinead (10/5): Fantastic Stay ultimate relaxation!! - We had the most amazing stay.
Paddy was a wonderful host, really friendly and he had the fire lit upon arrival , house was so cosy. It has everything that you will need. Kitchen really well equipped, beds were nice and there is a large comfy sofa.
The views from the sunroom were stunning. It felt so safe and away from everything just what we needed! If you are looking to get away from it all this is the property for you. It’s not far from Downings or Carrigart we walked in most days and you are still close enough to shops/takeaway 5 min drive.
We will certainly return again but bring the golf clubs and bikes! The area is beautiful and house location perfect.
- Jayadip (9/5): Superb -

- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Seanaid (10/5): Perfect location, perfect accommodation and altogether a very special experience - Location was just what we were looking for. Quiet and peaceful with amazing views. The weather was extremely kind and we made the most of that. It was lovely to walk first thing in the morning on Island Roy. The house was perfect for our needs but the steep incline up to the house was a bit uneven
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property, gorgeous view, friendly owners
- 232mcf (10/5): Stunning - The location of the house was a absolutely stunning. It felt secluded but was so close to downings. It was perfect for bringing the dogs as there are not many cars. The house itself had everything we needed and was very cosy. Nothing
- Craig (1/5): Not Nice! Please check the lowest reviews booking this property. It will save you, your hard earned money and hassle. - the jigsaw We spent €2600 for 14 nights here but left after only 6. It would have been less but I had to find alternative accomodation.
We didn't like the smell of the property.
We didn't like the lack of efficient heating, and the coin fed electricity meter.
The cleanliness did not meet my expectations. ps- don't look under the cooker extraction hood.
We did not like the coldness of the property, the radiators were inadequate and noisy.
We did not like the dampness of the property, we could not dry out towels.
The owner did not meet us on arrival(now we know why) and we only met him for about 5 minutes, which was about 4 minutes and 59 seconds too long.
- Denise (8/5): Very good -
- Park-fullerton (8/5): Idyllic stay on Island Roy - The location was idyllic - what a view to open the curtains to!
House was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly for a family break.
We loved the long, quiet walks with our dog especially when the tide was out. Ensuite shower needs a refresh.
- Christine (8/5): Very good - The house is in such a peaceful setting but only minutes from Downings and Carrigart with lots of places to eat and drink. Plenty of space to relax inside and outside the house and lots of places to visit close by with spectacular scenery.
- Conor (7/5): Good -

Lovely house with a sauna.
Beds extremely comfortable.
Host visited in the mornings to check all was ok.
Electricity meter in property but we arrived to £8 in the meter and it lasted our entire trip.
Open fire which we arrived to already set, it was too warm to light but would be lovely for a winter break.
Couldn’t fault it.
