Guest Reviews
- Silvia (6/5): - Everything is great except the dining options. No restaurant open in the evening only a deli style take out. A bit disappointing.
- Jim (4/5): - Check in had one person very slow probably took at least 20 minutes. Restaurant was same, took forever to get seated and long time to get waited on. Food was ok.
The next morning at 7:30 nothing open to get coffee or food. Restaurant never opened all day only a small deli for food. Room was comfortable and clean.
- Neil (6/5): - .
- terry (10/5): - Very well maintained
- AMY (10/5): - Clean property, friendly staff
- Diane (10/5): - Nice location and friendly staff
- carrie (8/5): - Overall stay was great! Loved the free transportation to and from St Ignace and Mackinac City!
- Natchaya (10/5): - It is a ne
- Lisa (10/5): - Nice Casino. Lady Luck was not on my side.
- Stefanie (10/5): - Very nice property. Surprised it was a casino as the name on the reservation didn’t say so. We didn’t mind at all, it just made it a bit confusing when the sign said Kewadin Casino and the address was different than the casino.
- Candice (6/5): - Clean ok place to stay.
- Laurie (8/5): - Stayed here for a few days to then visit Mackinac island and the Soo. Rooms very comfy. The only issue was when we put sign on room door for maid service. Nothing was done. No new coffee or towels or beds made. Wish main restaurant was open on Monday or Tues. deli had good sandwich, though. Garbage by entrance did need to be cleaned. All in all I still would stay here. Casino very clean
- Martin (10/5): - Wonderful facility, super friendly staff
- Beth (6/5): - While there is nothing in particular that was wrong with the property, it is just average. The room is bland. There was only one restaurant that was open and the service was lacking as was the choice of menu. The staff was friendly
- Eileen (6/5): - Ridiculous: beautiful patio outside of pool, was not accessible to go back inside. Not even with room key. Why have a patio area when you can't go back inside ? Women's restroom at pool: the towel/trash receptacle was covered in rust, spotted looked like vomit.
The only employee we encountered that was polite, pleasant, and loved his job, was Andrew, the bartender in the Sports Bar. Check in woman: inquired about a luggage cart, she said "go find one in the halls". 2nd check in woman, when asked for pool towels, as she did not quit eating,. "maybe!" then continued to eat, and took 5 minutes to go behind desk to get us 2 pool towels. Our balcony room had thousands of spider nests on the ceiling.
- Kasey (6/5): - Beds were uncomfortable, bathroom fan didn’t work. But the room was okay, nothing special
- sharon (6/5): - Waiting over 10 minutes to check in, staff was out getting her some food, no backup. I went to office to see if there was someone available I was told oh she around somewhere. She finally came back, didn’t acknowledge me till she opened her bottle of milk and drank it. Never seen such unprofessional staff.
- Shari (8/5): - The woman working hotel desk when we checked in and later the day when we had to get pool towels from her was NOT friendly in anyway. She is for sure in wrong kind of work dealing with public in my opinion. Everyone else very friendly
- Jeremy (8/5): Nice stay in St Ignace - Hotel was OK. Wanted something a bit more than the typical ones in St Ignas. We don't gamble, but we thought we would play a few slots. They didn't tell me at check in about the door tag requests. We ran out of coffee and cups first day, thought that they would come in and clean and re-stock. Nope. We asked front desk for coffee and cups for 2nd day and they only allowed one thing of coffee. Day 2 no service. Thats fine, everything else was OK. 2nd night went down and asked for coffee and cups and then she told me about the door tag request. You fill it out and hand on door when leaving for day and they restock those items for you.
We booked 2 days through Hotels.com and added a night through the casino before we got there. We had to check out then check back in on 3rd day. We were able to stay in same rooms and that process was very simple and painless.
They were re-paving the roads around the hotel and up to the front entrance. We had to lug all luggae across the lot and to the hotel. Then the next day they were starting to re-pave outside our room. Lots of beeps from the equipment. I get it, work has to be done, just bad luck for us I guess. wish we had the lake view side, much better views for sure.
- Stanley (10/5): - Comfortable, a nice stop over
- Nancy (10/5): - Close to city and lakeside
- Paul (10/5): - The pool area was great. They were replacing the blacktop in the parking lot but had no issues parking or entering the facility. Great breakfast at the restaurant on site.
- Verified traveler (4/5): St. Ignace casino - When we got here patking lot was under construction. Their websight never told us that.
The personchecking us in acted like it was a chore to check me in.
When i asked for pool towels that was also a problem. I would checked out the casino but its all smoking.
- Joseph (2/5): a poorly run casino hotel - All I can say is be prepared for a casino hotel experience :( When we arrived, the parking lot was under construction. That made a lot of noise and made it very difficult to move you luggage from the remote lot to your room. Constructed started early and ended late.
When I approached the registration desk, I was told the agent was on her break and would not return for 20 mins. They only have one agent per shift. We had to wait 30 mins. to register... and once the agent returned, the line was long!
When I did check in, the agent was not the friendliest. The staff gave you the impression you were bothering them.
The Internet was out most of the night and next morning. When I asked about that, the agent said "I don't know." In other words, they were not even attempting to fix it. The TV, we discovered, was also out all night.
I could go on and on, but I think I can sum it up by saying this is what you expect for this type of casino hotel. They should not be in the hotel business unless they genuinely want to provide good service. The hotel seems to be an afterthought being run with minimal staff.
We found the experience so awful that we left as early as possible the next morning. We are not gamblers, so there was no reason to stay at such an awful place.
- Paul (10/5): - The staff from check in and the horseshoe restaurant were extremely rude.
- Heidi (2/5): Needs Improvement - Cancelled after arriving. Stood in line for 25 min as there was not enough staff for check in. The smoke smell was overwhelming. Restaurant was closed due to lack of staff. Very disappointing. Booked at another hotel.
- David (8/5): Generally A Good Experience - Service desk friendly, helpful and efficient when manned. Workout room and equipment amazingly clean, modern and useful. Plenty of available luggage carts. Grounds are immaculate and there is a great view of the lake. There was abundant available parking even though the hotel seemed fully occupied. The connected casino's restrooms came in handy when grandkids were taking their showers. On the other hand, cigarette smoke from the casino could be smelled throughout the casino and hotel. Also, the web site indicated a 6 person room capacity and our reservation was clearly for 5 persons. Yet, we were informed that per housekeeping policy to get an "extra" towel above the 4 provided we had to submit a written extra towel request. Also, the service desk is not manned 24 hours.
- Brenda (6/5): - The front desk staff was not helpful and overall the employees were not friendly. Facility was clean. The grounds are beautiful. Beds were decent. Overall, it was ok. Probably would not stay here again. They acted annnoyed we booked thru Expedia and then claimed they can’t help us with anything because we booked thru an outside source. So just fyi.
- Lisa (4/5): - Check in agent was on break when we arrived. Line was forming at check in desk. Sign on desk had a clock with a return time. Agent was late to return.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The hotel and casino were very clean and comfortable. Desk, housekeeping and bartenders were friendly and accommodating.
I would return again!
- Krishna (4/5): - Items were not working in the room.
- Judy (10/5): - The lady at check-in was very sleepy. I thought she was going to take a nap while we were getting checked in..
- Midhat (2/5): - Expedia sucks and this hotel sucks. In my life of 20 years of traveling I have never experienced this. I get to my hotel and they said Expedia never sent a booking confirmation. I booked 3 weeks prior to July 4th weekend and was left without a hotel for the night. Disgusting from both sides really.
- Margaret (8/5): - Nice place.
- Paul (4/5): - Main Restaurant is closed. Sports Bar is closed.Staff is very limited in the Casino and Hotel. We been going and staying at the hotel and casino for the last three years. They keep saying the same thing. It's COVID!!
- Julie (10/5): - Staff is great.
- Susan (10/5): - Everything is good
- Don (8/5): - Nothing horrible, just very average. Rooms could use irons/ironing boards.
- Jason (10/5): - Very clean and the staff was very nice. We had fun and enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much.
- Amy (10/5): Nice quick trip - Nice place to stay. If you aren’t a fan of cigarette smoke smell, stay somewhere else. The hallway to the hotel rooms smell of cigarette smoke but the rooms do not.
- Joseph (2/5): - Check-in was smooth. The pool was nice and clean. Unfortunately, the fan/heater in the room was not working properly, Shut on and off repeatly every couple of minutes. The toliet kept making a shrill sound randomly. Lastly, there was a couple in the room next to us arguing loudly until 3:30 am. We tried calling the front desk to complain but there wasn't an answer.
- Christian (10/5): - Great property to stay at
- Rhonda (8/5): - For some reason, banging noise in.bathrooms coming from pipes whenever toilets were flushed. Not just in our rooms.
- SCOTT (4/5): - The staff at hotel did not smile and acted weird about giving up towels for pool..Dining staff excellent.. Food average ..
- Doreen (8/5): - Great hotel! Enjoyed my stay. Quiet and comfortable. I had to leave before 8am and there was no coffee😭 My only complaint!
- Jennifer (10/5): - It's very quiet for the 6 hours of we stayed.
Basically, it was a lay over to sleep and it was the cheapest
we were traveling to Houghton michigan
- Brenda St (10/5): - Friendly service. Quiet and clean rooms
- Karissa (10/5): - The gal that drove my boyfriend and I on the shuttle bus on 11/22/2023, was great!
Front desk staff when we left on 11/23/2023 wasn't very nice or in a good mood.
Overall, it was a great stay. We'll be back!
- Allison (10/5): - Hotel was clean and comfortable
- Kelly (6/5): Very Meh - Very average. Casino restaurant was way overpriced. The deli is far better. Had very little interaction with staff. They don't do any room refreshening during your stay but you can leave handy door hangers if you need fresh towels and whatnot. Toiletries are not great. Towels are woefully small. Price was ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Happy Stay - Room was clean, very nice, up to date. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be staying there again!
- Michael (4/5): Disappointed is staff and safety of guest - The room was clean and comfortable. The casino smelled like smoke. Tried to go to the restaurant at 7:10 on Sunday morning sign says they open at 7am no staff there to seat us walked al the way to rear of restaurant and waited approx. 10 minutes. Walked to deli closed. Just trying to find coffee. Saw beverage area went there for coffee. Coffee machine reads not available. Walked away and ran into 2 men one looked to be a manager an voiced our complaint they really could have cared less. We went back to our room and decided to check out. On the way out I decided to loo at the fire extinguisher since I am a Fire Inspector and found that the fire extinguisher were last serviced in February of 2022 which means they are past due for servicing. This is a serious issue and shows that you do not care about your guest. I will never stay with you again or even visit the casino. I am also going to make sure the fire service is aware of the violation.
- Deborah (8/5): - Staffing issues in restaurant. Sign of the times. But we would still stay there again.
- Denise (6/5): - Staff at the front desk (when checking in) was rude. Staff in deli was rude, deli was dirty, we weren't able to sit at a table they were all dirty. Food was good. Staff at the front desk (when checking out) was much more friendly. We probably won't give this hotel another chance.
- Ann marie (10/5): - Had a great stay
- Cathryn (6/5): - The room was nice, although it was chilly in there, but I could barely sleep because the pillows were so uncomfortable and the smell of the cigarette smoke from the casino permeated everything. I had forgotten smoking is allowed in casinos.
- Garry (8/5): - It was OK,not great,clean,bed was good.
- Lorenia (8/5): - Nice place to stay for the money. Clean overall. Updated bathroom. Lots of parking. Parking lot well lit at night. Beautiful location.
- Debora (10/5): - The lady at the front hotel check in desk, Manda, was not helpful at all. She never asked for my drivers license. She was very, very rude. She was not willing to help with my situation at all. So, I went along with her way. The next morning I called the front desk and spoke with Pam. Within 30 minutes Pam and her manager took care of my issue and I had an email from Expedia with a confirmation of my refund from Expedia. And we didn’t have to change rooms on our second night there. Pam and her manager were awesome! Manda was my only disappointment with Kewadin. Everything else was perfect.
- Melinda (8/5): - It was advertised online when I booked our room for a Mon and Tues nights that there was 2 restaurants and 2 bars. Only 1 bar was open with only 1 bartender and only 1 beer on tap. Only the little deli was open but not the bigger restaurant. Couldn't believe there was smoking allowed in casino. An ashtray at every machine. We are from Traverse City area and not use to that.
- Martha (10/5): - The only thing that could of made our stay better was if the restaurant was open but it is closed on Monday and Tuesday. The room was clean and neat. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The pool area was nice and the water was great.
- Dale (8/5): - Nice
- cierra (10/5): - We loved our stay at Kewadin! Every staff member was so nice and the entertainment was awesome! We'll be back!
- Kerry J (8/5): - Our hotel room was very clean and we had a good view.
When we got to the hotel we checked in, then went to the bar. The soda was flat from the guns, so my drink wasn’t good. For other drinks the bar didn’t have the right ingredients. Would not go back.
Then we had dinner in the casino. Fries were cold, wraps were not good at all.
I would not recommend eating there.
- LE (10/5): - This property has 2 restaurants inside the building which are very convenient for eating. The location is closed to ferry docks and Downtown areas.
- Greg (10/5): - Nice and Quite
- Georgia (8/5): Convenient and clean. - We Like to stay here when we travel to Canada. Nice and clean. Good pool.
- john (10/5): - excellent location, excellent room, excellent service
there wasn't anything we didn't like
plan to stay again in th future
- Michael (2/5): Don’t go there - Room was tacky and needed updating. Not worth the price!!
- Greta (4/5): - Property fine. Machines a bit outdated. Staff is the best thing here -- friendly courteous helpful. They fo out of their way to help. The gambling is horrible though. So tight and stingy its not fun. I don't expect to win big but I do expect to have fun when spending hundreds.
- Kim (10/5): - We were pleasantly surprised at the hotel and casino. We will definitely stay there again, if we ever make it back this way.
- JKendall (10/5): - Easy and quick check-in.
Staff friendly and helpful.
- JKendall (10/5): - Check-in quick and easy. Staff very helpful.
Would definitely stay again.
- Bronson (10/5): - I always have a pleasant experience interacting with staff and staying here while traveling to the UP. It is a very convenient location.
- Ernest (6/5): - Few people in Casino - sounded like a quiet church. Some staff- not all - really unmotivated and too bothered to answer simple questions. Some waitstaff downright rude - one complained to us for several minutes how "they were understaffed and a bus just came in and I can't handle all the work..." Attitude felt like pretty poor human resource management. Sad, sad place on beautiful grounds and an OK facility.
- Kimberly (6/5): - The room was very nice except the fan in the bathroom was broken and the heat quit working.
- Randy (10/5): - It was a quick, personal trip. Turned out great. Thanks!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Great place to stay. Not much open off season, very quiet, staff accommodating. Would go back.
- Jane (10/5): - Room was very clean and smoke free
- Diane (6/5): - Noticed a big change in the casino since Covid. Very short of help. No bar maids in the bar. Although the band was good. The bathrooms were disgusting. The casino floor was filthy dirty beer, bottles, cans, overflowing ashtrays. Breakfast was delivered cold by one poor waitress, running the whole floor. I understand short of staff however, it just made more work for her to warm our breakfast up. The pool area and spa was very clean. The room was very clean also. We will go back. We understand the short staffing.
- Jean-Paul (10/5): - everything was great
- Cheryl (8/5): - Everywhere smelled like smoke. Casino gave no perks to stay.
- Richard (4/5): - We asked for a water view and they gave us a view of the parking lot
- deborah (8/5): - I liked the ease of checking in to the property, but since it is so close to the casino( the casino still allows smoking) it can get a little irritating to breath, but I did bring my inhaler so all was good.
- Cari (10/5): - Love it!!
- Lori (10/5): - Very clean. Staff very friendly. Casino doesn't have buffet and very limited menu. Food was just ok.
- Brenda (8/5): - My room was quite spacious. The pool area was very well kept.
- Ricky (8/5): - It was nice.
- brenda (10/5): - It's pretty great all the way around from fun (casino) to smiling friendly staff clean room good food in dining areas just great!
- Vickie (8/5): - Great area
- Peter (6/5): First-Timer - Room was dated, but clean. Room had all the amenities I needed. Beverage vending machine was empty. Food at casino restaurant was mediocre at best. Bed wasnt the most comfortable ice slept in. You could visibly see how the bed was worn in the middle. Also, no valet service available. Now, with all that said, I am considering returning one day. Had fun. Met some cool people and left with a few extra Grant's in my pocket.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Front desk was very helpful and prompt. The check in desk actually came back from lunch a few minutes early to check me in. Disappointed that the restaurant was not open. The snack bar was very busy & the wait line long. For this reason, I just ordered a slice of pizza & soda. I still had to wait a long time. Could have actually reached around and got it for myself. When I mentioned it to the manager, he actually tried to blame ME for it! Said I should have spoken up sooner (than when they were serving customers who ordered after me! Disappointing.
- Taylor (8/5): - Location and pool!! Early check in wasn’t available but did text when a room was available!
- Shawn (8/5): - The staff could have been a little friendlier. The carpets in the rooms could have been a little cleaner.
All In All was a nice stay.
- Dan (8/5): - Good place to stop for the night!
- Rodney (4/5): - The staff at checking was rude. And not helpful at all. The room had a very bad odor. The room needs to be updated.
- David (8/5): - Was much nicer than we expected, beds were comfortable. Could use a make up morror for ladies in the bathroom, lighting isnt great.
- Bronson (10/5): - The front desk were personable, funny and considerate. I definitely felt welcomed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Short staffed - Everything was great except, due to being very short staffed, the food service was very limited. The customer service person who took your orders on Saturday morning was actually yelling at customers. I know cooks were doing their best with the amount of customers waiting.
- Angie (4/5): - The room was very clean, the casino staff were VERY RUDE. The older lady pit boss started making up her own rules as the night went on about what you could and couldnt do at the card tables. The casino rewards desk the staff was not friendly at all. All i heard all weekend was the casino never pays out. The 1 restaurant that was open had a very limited menu food was very basic in taste, which was not great as the steak is $30.00
