Guest Reviews
- Binet (9/5): Amazing place if looking for authentic japan xp - L’accueil et la gentillesse de l’hôte
L’expérience vrai Japon, vrai tatami
Le côté déconnexion d’un lieu si atypique Bit far from central but I knew it !
- JAVIER (4/5): Muy poco funcional. Incomoda. Cara. - La ubicación. Hall espacioso.
A szállás tiszta, igazi hagyományos japán hangulattal, amit mindig szerettem volna kipróbálni. Közel a pályaudvar, a tömegközlekedés gyorsan elérhető. Az utca csendes. Nem tudok ilyet mondani.
- Oliver (10/5): Great place to stay - The owner was very kind to us, he put up a welcome sign on our arrival and breif us the rules in person with a clear translator. The place is very cozy to stay, it's very quiet and close to station. Highly recommended and would stay again if there is another chance. Something to be careful that if you are tall like me (183cm), the roof is pretty low so you have to bow down when you going to another room so you don't knock your head. The dryer is pretty weak.
- Elwira (10/5): - Really great place to experience Japanese style accommodation. Location is great too, close to trai station, ging supermarket and tube station. Quiet area. nothing

- Tūmanako (10/5): - Wonderful stay! We had a memorable few nights here getting to experience a traditional home. Loved it!
- Kaia (9/5): recommend it! - Well located next to AEON shopping center, bus stops and Kujo metro station, in a quiet area. Big enough for us 3, our baby had space to crawl and play :) The kitchen is equipped enough to cook simple meals. The futon beds were comfortable. I really appreciate that the owner let us check-in in advance and that he came in person to give us the keys. That’s a much better experience than self-serviced accommodations! I heard an animal (a possum?) running in the attic at night, that made me feel a bit unease.
- Jasmine (9/5): Cozy Machiya not too far from Kyoto Station! -
- D (10/5): Exceptional - Good location, homey place to stay, and exceptional host!
We highly recommend for those who want to experience living in Japanese-style housing.
- Noemi (10/5): Unique experience - Unique location and really kind owner, 10 min from main station, the bed were really comfortable :)
- Clara (9/5): Superb -
- Saeid (10/5): Good location near Kyoto train station. You need to take transit to go to major tourist attractions. - Great experience staying at a traditional Japanese house.
- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - Cute cozy space. Great kitchen. Gracious hosts. Washer/dryer. Close to Aeon mall and Kyoto station. Everything you need. Quiet neighborhood. Futon a little thin for 50+ y.o. guests 😀
- Jingyi (8/5): takes a bit to get used to but an amazing experience and value for money - the experience of living in a kyomachiya during winter it was really cold throughout the house, aside from the living room where I had the AC blasting. also there appeared to have been some animals fighting in the attic, it woke me up at night alot, sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling any time…
- Manuel (10/5): Amazing experience - the style, space and location. Very nice hosts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An amazing Japanese living experience
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Ismail (8/5): - Everything good except they dont have room service.
- SHU CHUN (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The stay was wonderful, clean and spacious. Enjoyed the Japanese style being there.Thank you!
- Gloria (8/5): Cómodo y bien situado,tradicional y limpísimo - Comodidad y estilo tradicional,ideal situado junto a la estación central,proporciona independencia a buen precio..
- Cassandra (10/5): A great traditional Japanese experience. - I like the zen ambience, the large room space and the overall clean look of the apartment. We could see the delicate attention of the owner to meet the detailed needs of the guest. It's a 10 minutes' walk to Kyoto station. A big shopping mall Aeon is just next door. A quiet neighbourhood. Only minus point is not enough cloth hangars for 3 of us during laundry. However, that's a small hiccup. ,We will stay here again on our next visit.
- Fleur (10/5): Japanese house - Fabulous experience and a great change from a hotel. Cool to have your own Japanese house for a few days. Very convenient to get to the station and JR lines. Great shopping and places of interest. Kyoto is a charming city. Reception for key collection is easy to find and nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful. They do not clean the house during your stay and you will sleep on a futon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A traditional (but expensive) experience - My family of 4 stayed in the Annex and it was certainly beautiful and very conveniently located - but wow, it certainly was an expensive experience for us (especially in April at the end of the Sakura season). Traditional tatami mat floors in the rooms with futons were great for the kids, but I was very pleased to utilise an extra foam base that was in one of the cupboards to provide just a bit more padding. Still, a lovely space for our visit, great location to utilise transport options, a traditional experience to mark off the list, and a park across the way that was great for the kids to lose some energy in.
- Ratima (8/5): Japanese style - 8 minutes to Tokyo Train Station - Very convenient, close to Mall and train station but no house keeping service during our stay. Beds must be prepared by our own.
- Amy (10/5): LOVED IT, will go again. - Beautiful, spotless, and charming inside. We stayed in the middle unit of three, they are all single floor with raised tatami. Very very comfortable for the 5 of us including 3 children. Excellent location, 3 blocks to Kyoto station and one block from Aeon mall!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful, authentic Japanese house. - We loved staying here. Great authentic Japanese vibe. Clean, good location, nice and helpful staff.
- chuck (8/5): Buyer Beware but nice accommodations. - When checked in was told of extra fees for additional family members @ cost of $85 per person per day. Very disappointing. The accommodations and staff were nice and gave traditional Japan experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Japanese home experience - Very convenient, next to Aeon Mall and near Kyoto station. Amenities almost complete. Would be perfect if there is an iron provided. Perfect space for my family of four.
- @ndee (10/5): feel like home - living among the locals and in Japanese style - kitchen, garden, air conditioning, living room, washing machine. Only a short stroll to shopping. This is the best of all the places including 5 stars hotel I stayed during my trip in Japan. Will definitely return.
