Guest Reviews
- Jiwoo (10/5): - 넓고 아늑해서 강추합니다. 직원들도 모두 친절했어요. 모두에게 이 호텔을 추천합니다~
- Unnur (10/5): - Gott
- RUSVEL (10/5): - Great view from the hotel, outside the city so you can catch Northern Lights. Great breakfast, awesome ratio price/quality. Very friendly staff and nice amenities. We really enjoyed our time here.
Small Suggestion to add conditioner+shampoo for the shower
- Ulrika (10/5): - Friendly staff and nice place🙂
- Claudio Maurizio Maria (8/5): - Molto comodo ristorante a buffet
- Andrea (8/5): - Nice place close to the city' s facilities.
- Molly (10/5): Loved it!! - So so nice. We all agreed that we wished we were staying here for more than a single night. The hot tub in the evening after a long drive was very very nice and the general atmosphere of this place is fantastic. Would recommend!
- Ehsan (10/5): - Very pleased with our one night stay. The staff was friendly and professional. The room was spacious and clean. They had dinner buffet for 85k ISK. Breakfast was included and for a change we could get some scramble eggs and Bacon's. Sauna and hot tub included and open till 11 pm. Also, a new spa called Forest Lagoon has opened nearby which is a nice retreat with their large poops, sauna, and cold plunge. The hotel is a scenic 10 minute drive from downtown. All in all, highly recommended!
- Esmeralda (10/5): - This hotel was great,
- Nathalie (10/5): - Nous sommes arrivés à l’hôtel et la chambre était très bien…. Face à la mer…. Le déjeuner était très bien….. c’est un peu loin des attractions mais tranquille
- Keith (4/5): - The property in general was of lower quality than expected. It was hostel quality except for the private bathroom.
- Marnix (8/5): - Environment
- Benoit (10/5): Bon lieu.
- Xin (8/5): - The hotel is a bit out of way, didnt expect its in a farm. However, the ocean view is gorgeous.
The hotel interior walls and steps are all unfinished playwood, which doesnt look new, not sure if this was the plan or just never finished?
The included breakfast have good choices, and the
The main issue of this hotel is that the first picture of this hotel is a man in a good-sized hotpool, which doesnt exist in the hotel... It only had a tiny 3-foot square pool at the back door, which is truely sad.
- Tatiana (8/5): - I rented this hotel mostly for sauna and hot tube. Hot tube (pictured on the Expedia) was not there. Instead it has a tiny may be 30 centimeters deep dirty tiny pool...The room was renovated and clean, breakfast average. 15 minutes drive from the city, not much to do there.
- Shiu-Ying (10/5): - It is clean and having excellent views. The services are very good at the front desk as well as in the restaurant.
- Alexandra (10/5): - Great Hotel close to Akureyri with fantastic dinner!
- Kevin (6/5): - Property is nice with a good breakfast in the morning. The rooms near the common/dining area however get A LOT of noise from that space leaking in. So if you ever want an early night good luck to you
- Dhilip (10/5): - Great place with gorgeous views
- Amie (10/5): Gorgeous views! - Great time here. Fabulous rooms, hot spring tub, and wonderful dinner with a fabulous view. A really nice property, and a wonderful breakfast that was included.
- les (8/5): - Nice quiet hotel 15 min from town
- Ellen (10/5): - Warm welcome, clean rooms, good food!
- Lisa (8/5): Nice place to stay - Very strange decor for a hotel. Pools were not as I felt described. Do splurge on the dinner buffet….it was homemade and a very good meal.
- Man Kit Frank (10/5): - We were in the nearly renovated area. Everything was clean. Free coffee and tea. Spacey room. Excellent view from room.
- Raheel (8/5): - Located in a nice area. Easy to get to with lots of place to park.
Room was clean.
I would say this place offered THE MOST solid breakfast I had on my trip. They had scrambled eggs!
The one reason why I gave only a 4 star rating (and 3 stars for property condition) is the drain in my washroom. It was clogged or something as water would start boiling out of it while using the sink. How functional/clean a washroom is means a lot to me.
Were it not for the washroom, this place has an easy 5 star rating.
- Ayleen (10/5): - Very nice place! Price was great, scenery amazing, and staff super helpful. I’d definitely recommend it!
- koji (8/5): - there were several fries and water dropped from the ceiling.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The Best Breakfast - breakfast is VERY good.
- YOOJIN (4/5): - Near Akureyri. Quiet and convenient to reach. And breakfast was great. However water had a very strong surfur smell and smelled like rotten eggs. Even shampoo and soap couldnt cover the smell. There was mold in bathroom and it could use some renovation. The staff didnt give us any explanation on amenities such as wifi, hot tub, etc during check in.
- David (8/5): - For those who need a place to stay a night on the southern part of the ring road. Very near a major waterfall. Room was ok.
- Fabian (10/5): - Nice family run hotel, very friendly, excellent room and hot tub.
- Sigurdur (10/5): - Everything was great, good selection for breakfast and super nice staff.
- Suzanne (10/5): Best Hotel of our Trip! - This hotel was outstanding!!
The staff was very friendly, the breakfasts and dinners were tasty, rooms were clean and simple but had everything you'd need. The patio doors opened to the hotel garden, which grew several things used for the dinner buffet. We loved meeting the neighbor's cat and the hotel dog - Bodi.
And the VIEWS! The location was truly incredible - walking outside in the morning or the evening to see the fjords and mountains was surreal. Relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a long day and watching the sunset was heavenly!
The location was ideal - made for easy day tripping to Godafoss, Husavik, and just 10 minutes from downtown Akureyri. We want to go back!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Outstanding Fjord views. Country setting. Friendly and caring manager and staff. Excellent breakfast. Outside hot tub fed from mountain water was fantastic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The food was excellent and the staff was super friendly. I would stay their again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Poor location, nice view . Large parking lot problem with access to hotel with luggage.
Won’t go back to this hotel. Not so clean staff not friendly
- Rhiannon (8/5): Northen iceland - Excellent location for the northen lights. Dont count on an evening meal. First night a coach had booked in and a 3 course buffet meal was served. Next night no coach and only soup available so drove into Aukrery about 9 klm away.
- diane (10/5): Around the Ring Road - Friendly staff and owner. Good breakfast. Lovely setting.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Just outside the city, so it's a great place for viewing the Northern Lights. The proprietors were so nice! They had a pot of Icelandic meat soup warming in the dining room when we arrived, and it was great!
- es (10/5): - Very nice hotel, beautiful view from the window, friendly and very helpful staff. Will definitely stay in this hotel again if I need accommodation in the area. Highly recommend.
- linda (10/5): Great Breakfast! - Very friendly staff. Nice accommodation with a fabulous breakfast! Would stay again!
- Kenny-kun (10/5): - The hotel offers one of the best views in Iceland. 15 minute drive to Akureyri so quiet surroundings. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owner was awesome. Friendly and courteous. Only complaint was they ran out of hot food by the time we got to breakfast. No bacon, but they did scramble more eggs. All in all, good place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay surrounded with beautiful views!
- Eugene (10/5): Will come again! - A nice hotel by the lake in a beautiful place. There is a room with a telescope for you to see the stars or just to hang out. Breakfast is pretty good. The room is good as well.
- Judy (8/5): - Nice location outside the city of Akureyri. Very nice view of the fjord. Pleasant enclosed porch and outside deck. Difficult lodging for senior citizens—no railing on steps leading to main door. No railing for hot tub—very difficult entry and extremely hot. We had a second floor room and had to climb slippery outside steps with no treds. Breakfast included with a nice variety of food but hot food was not hot. Buffet dinner was very expensive!
- Diana (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the owners were so nice and helpful. It would have been a great spot to see the Northern lights since it was out of town, but unfortunately it was too cloudy. Our only complaint was the very small bathroom and shower in our room. The breakfast we had was outstanding with so many good choices and warm pastries.
- Allie (10/5): - Great hotel. Beautiful location.
- Liz (10/5): Has a hot soaking tub! - Nice hotel in quiet area, interior smell of fresh cut wood. Great dining area in hotel. View of fjord is great. About 10 minute drive to Akureyi.
- Amy (8/5): Beautiful view - Awesome view. Hotel has a sitting room and deck (if you're brave enough for the weather to sit outside) with amazing view of water and mountains. We got great sunset photos here (at 11:15 pm!) The bathroom was tiny- you literally cannot be overweight to fit in the shower. The desk was very small- could barely fit laptop. Nice breakfast: toast, pecan pastry, chocolate filled pastry, hard boiled eggs, salami, ham, cheese, bacon, cereal, and yogurt.
A few tidbits about Iceland hotels in general: Towels are placed on your bed, not in the bathroom so try to remember to take it in with you! They have tiny basin sinks mounted to wall with no countertop for toiletry bag. They do not use top sheets; they have a down like blanket in duvet cover which gets very warm so I recommend turning the radiator down for sleeping. Curtains generally can't block all the light so if you need total darkness to sleep bring an eye mask. No decaf coffee. No washcloths. XL twin beds but not long enough blankets.
- Srivara (10/5): - It is nice view in front of hotel. Breakfast and room is good. I recommend to stay here.
- Jamie L (8/5): Beautiful Setting with Attentive Staff - Nice stay with the owner being very attentive to his guests and helping us with some of our activity plans. The buffet meal was delicious in the evening and breakfast was good as well. We saw the Aurora Borealis from our balcony that evening. It was a very enjoyable stay.
- Bill (10/5): Secluded hotel near Akureyri - The owner is wonderfully cordial. The hotel is some distance (18k) from Akureyri, but is that much closer to the sights of the "Diamond Circle," including Godafoss waterfall. You can purchase a tasty evening buffet so you do not have to go back to town. Fabulous view and really quiet.
- go and ser aurora. (10/5): - didn't get the ocean view room But Not disappointed. room is huge in islandic standard, snow mt bay view hot tub, nice morning buffet, hot tea for Aurora tracer,15mins to the city.. planned to stay one 9 but ended up staying one extra 9.
- MLc (8/5): Nice and spacious apartment - Huge 2 bedroom apartment with full kitchen and dinning area. Perfect for those that wish to cook for themselves. Nice view with water and mountain. We were there beginning October, we had nice view of the northern lights just stood at their parking lot!
- Kathryn (6/5): Out of the way but comfortable - It was a pleasant stay. We arrived late and there was no restaurant nearby and nothing available of an evening at this location. Eat before you arrive! Breakfast was lovely.
- Christina (10/5): Lovely place and friendly staff - We had a lovely stay at this place. It's clean and roomy. The hotel staffs are super friendly and helpful.we had the dinner buffet there. It was delicious and the price was very reasonable comparing to other places in iceland. Wehad a great time watching the sunset in the jacuzzi.
- Bob (8/5): hotel is nicer than the online photos. - Very nice staff. No laundry facilities but they let us use the hotel machines to do a load of laundry. I highly recommend the buffet dinner. Lamb, chicken, cod were all god. The chef is first rate. The included breakfast was also very good. Eggs, bacon, pastries fruit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay! Happy there was a place on site to buy lunch.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room and facilities are very standard, but the price is quite reasonable in terms of Icelandic accommodation.
- Francis (10/5): A Gem on the outskirts of Akureyri - Quick check in. The host at the front desk was super nice and professional person. They upgraded the room on their own because they weren't sure if we were two guys or a couple. Room was clean, bedding was good quality and comfortable. location was brilliant. Best views of the mountains and sea. Kitchen lobby had 24 hours coffee and cutlery for your convenience. We brought food from outside and used it. They even serve beers in there too. what else you need ? Breakfast next morning had lot of variety and very good quality food. Full marks to it. Overall very nice place to stay.
- Manofmysery (6/5): Nice location - Only stayed one night en route. However, full of bus tour groups monopolising everything. Staff were attentive and friendly though. Breakfast orientated to German tour groups - wuerst, cheese etc, However it is fine for a 3***
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good hotel - Very friendly welcome at the reception. , the guy even printed us a map of local roads and attractions when we asked if there was a map amongst the brochures that they had. We booked a small double room and it was tiny with only enough space for the bed in the room, but the room was spotless and brand new. Comfy firm mattress and clean sheets and thebathroom was new as well. There is no access to the kitchen unlike some othef travellers said, there is however 24 hr hot tea and coffee machine in the dining area with choices of good coffee. Breakfast was good with the usual boiled eggs, colz meat and cheese and choices of bread or rolls or croissants, jams, fruit etc. Very nice stay over all.
- Leona (10/5): Third night in Iceland - Beautiful scenery as the place sits on the east side of a mountain overlooking the sound. Reception was very friendly. Had continental breakfast. Thank you.
- Michael (10/5): perfect - was our last hotel in Iceland. very very nice. the room was big and the shower was comfortable and clean.
breakfast was wonderful. you had access to the kitchen if you want to cook something for yourself.
the stuff - the guy in reception who is the owner was very nice and helpful. gave us some tips and instructions.
11 out of 10.
- Samantha (8/5): Clean and out of town - Restaurant was closed when I was there but breakfast was good...no better or worse than anywhere else I stayed.
- Peter (8/5): - Great location, good breakfast. Friendly staff, would stay here again.
- Emran (8/5): Great hotel by the fjord out of the city - Great ambience in what appears to be a family hotel. Good rooms with lovely views and close to Walking/hiking trails in beautiful surroundings
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant stay - The hotel was very clean with a comfortable feel to it. The owner was personable, helpful and informative. The town of Akureyri which is about a 10 minute drive is the second largest in Iceland and very nice to walk around. Saw the northern lights here for close to 2 hours. If we go back we would certainly look this hotel up again.
- William (8/5): Nice place to stay, short drive to town - Short drive outside Akureyi with nice views of Fjord. Typical Scandinavian breakfast plus coffee/tea free at all times. Small outdoor hot tub.
- David (6/5): Great views out of town. - Convenient but well out of the main town. Hotel seemed to be set up for large group bookings.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel room, top breakfast. - We had a pleasant stay. Comfortable bed, great breakfast, fast wifi. We didn't appreciate the cleaning staff walking into our room three times without even knocking and doors were getting slammed every 3 seconds somewhere on our floor which was stressing us out. Floor seemed loud.
- Donald (6/5): Akureyri getaway - about 10 minute drive from town center, clean room, nice size. some flies from nearby agriculture activities. Breakfast included. Nightly dinner buffet very overpriced for the selection offered.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it is great value for money, although the rooms were a bit outdated but the scenery was good. Breakfast was particularly good and healthy! I enjoyed the breakfast. The atmosphere for the bar at evening with the view of the lake was very romantic.
- Scott and Diann (8/5): Comfortable stay outside of town. - We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was more continental than full breakfast but served it purpose. Rooms are clean, views are WONDERFUL of the fjords and the Arctic Ocean. A short 15 minute drive to the town of Akureyri with a full complement of shops and restaurants.
- Bill (8/5): Far from City Central - The place might be a bit understaffed. I had to hunt for customer service to check us in.
- midge (10/5): Room very small for 4 people - Room very clean but small for 4 people. Bathroom very small as well.
- Lin-Li (8/5): Relaxing - I loved this place mainly due to the unlimited supply of good coffee, juices, free breakfast and fastest internet compared to all the other guesthouses that I've stayed during the 6 days. But there were many flies in the room for some reason even though the room was very clean, maybe it's from the sewer as I noticed the tap water was from the hot springs. The curtain was too thin so I kept on waking up thinking I overslept as it's very bright outside starting 5am. The room was very spacious, had rack for the shoes, had a glass table and 2 glass night stands, even more than 1 mirror (it's hard to share 1 mirror with 3 girls). Friend night staff who really introduced the area and suggested where I should go to explore the northern part of Iceland.
- Oran (8/5): Great service, scenic location - Great welcome on arrival Staff were very helpful, attentive and gave great advice on local sightseeing. The breakfast was good and the room was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel with great value! - It was cozy and nice. Breakfast was so nice! Enough space for parking. Staffs were friendly and kind.
- Tracy (10/5): Countryhotel Sveinbjarnagerdi - lovely Inn! - We stayed at Countryhotel Sveinbjarnagerdi with 5 kids & 4 adults on a road trip through Iceland. The inn is situated on a farm outside of Akureyri with very nice basic accomodations which suited our group perfectly. There is a gorgeous view of the fjord from the reception area, but what really makes this inn special is the staff! The desk clerks and the chef were so helpful in arranging our accomodations as well as recommending sites in the area. It was delightful to chat with them! Tip - ask the hotel to make you sandwiches for lunch - for a reasonable charge they make a lovely picnic!
- Barsa (10/5): Relaxing Experience - We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the friendliness of the owners. When returning to Iceland we will be staying at this hotel again. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was also good. Located along the eastern side of the fjord and about 10 minutes from the closest town, made it very quiet, relaxing and a great launching point to explore the nearby countryside. Photographing horses at 01:30 am with snowy mountains as the sun was still up was truly magnificent.
