Lovely room with the comfiest of beds.
Peaceful despite High Street location
Friendly owners who attended to detail. Nothing really, except perhaps the pillows which didn't suit my preferences.

- Katie (7/5): Comfortable & clean (though somewhat dated) accommodation, with a terrific breakfast included! - The bed was very comfortable (despite being a double vs a kingsize) and the breakfast was delicious! Communication was prompt and helpful. The room was smaller than we expected, although not an issue as we only stayed for 1 night.

Great hosts
Good location
Yummy granola! Walls so thin that I was kept awake by stereo snoring, from the rooms either side of mine!
- joanne (10/5): A very pleasent stay! - This property is amazing! I stayed here with my husband and son. We were on the top floor in the attic room. This wasnât a problem. There was a couple of small flights of stairs nothing we couldnât manage.
We had a private bathroom which was cleaned to a high standard. Fresh towels provided daily.
Everything is so clean with a homely feel. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I loved the decor and the quotes around the B&B especially the one on the entrance door. It made me smile each time i left.
Breakfast is next level. We all really enjoyed it with so much choice. I recommend the granola which is made by the B&B owners it was delicious.
The beds are so comfortable first night after traveling a long distance we all slept 12 hours! I donât like I have to leave! Itâs been a very pleasant 2 nights brake.
- SilverFox28 (8/5): - I have already completed a questionnaire
- Benjamin (8/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Ticked all the boxes - thank you mine hosts. - Breakfast was excellent, I do like warm milk on cereal which I'm sure I would have been given if only I had asked. Everything about the room was just fine. Could not ask for more pleasant and courteous hosts. James went out of his way to provide me with an on-site car park space but it is very tight. Access to and space for only 2 small cars maximum. On-highway parking close to the guest house is limited to 2 hours between 8 am and 6 pm unrestricted thereafter.
- Estelle (10/5): Good value, friendly. - Lovely breakfast, right on time. Staff super attentive and friendly. James welcomed me, and gave recommendations for dinner nearby. Nothing
- Sandi (10/5): Quaint traditional English B and B. - Wonderful quaint traditional English B&B with lovely hosts, delicious full English breakfast and excellent location.
- Janet (8/5): - The breakfast was substantial for me and the location meant I could have walked to all my appointments in Chard if parking had been better. Parking could have been better, only one space otherwise it was street parking.
- Fiona (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Ammonite Lodge - Ammonite Lodge is in the centre of Chard, just across from the museum. My room at the top of the lodge was wonderful. It was nice and big, had a comfortable bed and armchair, and overlooked the garden. My bathroom was separate and for my use only. Again, it was large and had a bath and a shower. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. James and Katharine were excellent and helpful hosts. The guest book could do with updating. For example, some of the Ilminster cafĂ©s/restaurants, I.e. F.East and Todayâs Menu closed some time ago.
- Susan (10/5): Fabulous place to stay - Everything Nothing
- Judy (10/5): What a lovely experience - Paul and I were made to feel very welcome. The room was lovely and quirky, because of the age of the building (which we love) Everything was clean and the decor and nic nacs were tasteful and interesting. Breakfast was delicious. It was a fabulous experience Nothing we didn't like
- Kirstie (10/5): -
- Andert (9/5): -

- Tom (10/5): Great stay - The owners were very friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Richard (10/5): - Friendly and comfortable. Breakfast is exceptional. Nothing

Had s lovely time with my daughter exploring the area . Thanks do much for having us. We look forward to returning. Loved my whole trip. Thanks again.
- Marianne (9/5): Cosy B&B - Lovely warm welcome from Catherine after a very long drive in an electric car!! Cosy, spotlessly clean room with modern ensuite shower room. The morning brought a delicious good quality full English breakfast made to order by James. A nice extra was the homemade toasted bread and jam. Definitely recommend a stay. N/A
- Fran (10/5): Great place to stay. - Good place to stay. Staff nice. Breakfast fantastic. Lots of takeaways nearby for evening meal. Wi-Fi is solid. Third night my room was a bit warm so I turned radiator down a bit, and opened window for a bit. Nothing!
- Neil (8/5): Comfortable - Breakfast Noise from room next to ours
- Ian (10/5): everything was so nice and clean, and the food so fresh - location was superb, just a few feet away from the town but so lovely and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful and well presented. And our hosts were exceptionally nice and helpful nothing
- Joanne (10/5): Brilliant B&B with fab hosts and delicious breakfast - Wonderful place to stay - James and Katherine are so welcoming. Their whole Lodge is clean, warm and comfortable; the breakfast was utterly delicious and there was easy parking outside đ Nothing
- Mary (10/5): Wonderful hosts, lovely stay, good breakfast - James and Katherine are wonderful hosts. This was a lovely stay. Nice breakfast.
- JACQUI (5/5): Convenient for chard town or buses Overpriced outdated - It was convenient for town.
Parking was outside but limited times. So overnight ok. I found being on top
Floor very tricky in the dark there was no automatic light and stairs were dog legged and narrow with overhead bulk head I groped around trying to find a light No air con. Top floor was very hot.
Shower was almost in the window so
Had to
Keep blind down.
- Kingsway (10/5): Superb overnight stay, great breakfast, clean and comfortable room and very friendly hosts. - The hotel was very easy to find being on the high street through the town, loved the hot and fresh breakfast and also the very friendly welcome we were given when arriving at the property James and Katherine are wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable about where to eat locally, and we felt we were looked after from the time we stepped through the front door till the time we left, it was really nice to meet them. Clean and comfortable room, enough tea and coffee in the room as well, and good sized en suite bathroom with plenty of towels. It was a great overnight stay on the way to holiday in Cornwall, and would stay there again when in the area. Thank you. No complaints
- tina (7/5): Ammonite Lodge - Hosts were lovely people, breakfast was good Room could do with bit of a redec and did not like overhead wardrobe above bed felt a bit claustrophobic for me personally
- Paul (8/5): Good stop off for overnight on the way to Cornwall - The bedroom was a little tight, the furniture a bit outdated, but the room & the shower room were spotlessly clean. The saniflow toilet but given the space I guess this was the best option for the owners
- Abigail (9/5): -
- Derek (8/5): Great value accommodation with lovely hosts and excellent breakfast. - Lovely hosts and great breakfast. The building faces directly onto the A30, but our room was at the back and traffic noise was not an issue. Bedroom small but adequate, comfortable bed. The shower room is very small.
- Zora 35 (10/5): -
- Louise (9/5): The stay was very good value for money. Very comfortable and welcoming. - The breakfast was served hot and efficiently. The standard of food was excellent.
- Lester (9/5): - Everything was very good, though the bathroom was small. Very good value for money!
- barbara (10/5): - Made to feel very welcome and the breakfast was superb.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very pleasant stay - Accessible to town
Welcoming
- Ann (10/5): Fabulous place to stay!!! - Everything was wonderful! We felt like family! They took great care of us as we explored the area. Would definitely stay again!
- John (8/5): -
- Margaret (8/5): -
- Christmas (7/5): - Very accommodating hosts and overall a good experience. No parking made things difficult for us and the family room, while well equipped, felt cramped with low ceiling and precarious stairs.
- DAVID (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable - The hosts James and Katherine were very welcoming and clearly know how to treat their guests. Breakfast was excellent and the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Great location for shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Highly recommended.
- Kathy (8/5): Excellent Breakfast! - quirky little B&B in Chard centre. Very quiet town - only arrive din teh evening and left straight after breakfast - which wa svery very nice. James and his wife were very welcoming and friendly. Get there before 10pm if your'e travelling from afar - its' not 24hr check in . Ithink I had a single occupancy room - it was very clean and enough room - bathroom was compact!
- Christine (9/5): -
- Alessia (8/5): - OspitalitĂ degli host. Stanza un poco calda
- Lorine (9/5): A perfect stay for our road trio - Vriendelijke eigenaren. Propere kamer. Lekker ontbijt. Kamer was wel aan de erg kleine kant.
- Benjamin (10/5): -
- Harvey (9/5): Wouldnât hesitate to book the Lodge again but will book an en-suite next time. - Location was very central which was handy for the town. Our hosts, James and Katherine are very approachable and knowledgeable. The room was comfortable and the breakfast well cooked and presented in a delightful breakfast room. Apart from the parking at the Lodge which is a little awkward as itâs within a time restricted area, there was nothing we didnât like.
- gould (7/5): -
- Haesevoets (7/5): - Vriendelijke uitbaters. Warm ontvangst.
- Meah (10/5): Wonderful in every way! - Fabulous, authentic and personable stay! Very clean and accommodating. Would highly recommend.

- Beth Lindsay (10/5): Beautiful little cottage type stay! - Really cute little cottage type feel đ€© The room was lovely and clean and perfect for our one night stay! The hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was very organized and quick! N/A
- Gary (10/5): Excellent choice - This B&B was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of there way to accommodate me. The breakfast was excellent and had plenty of options. The room was very clean quiet and the bed was very comfortable . Will visit again
- Jane (10/5): -
- Jan (9/5): Great lodge in Sommerset - It's a really cosy lodge with a home feel. Nothing
- Kate (8/5): - James and Katherine were wonderful hosts. James helped us procure a parking spot right in front of the property. The room was at the top with nice beds, furniture, and decor. Our hosts provided delicious breakfast. Great stay while visiting family in nearby Crewkerne.
- jeanette (10/5): The best - Lovely place, owners were friendly and nice, my favourite hotel in Chard. Breakfast was really nice, they provided everything you could ever need and more. I would 100% recommend this place. Will be going back soon. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Margaret (8/5): Comfortable relaxing stay - Character of building. Friendly , helpful staff. Clean, comfortable rooms. Good towels. Fan available. Continental breakfast very limited. Cereal and toast only options.
- John (10/5): - James and Katherine were terrific hosts, the breakfast was excellent, the room spotless and parking wasn't a problem. All together a very good overnight experience.
- Alan (10/5): Very happy with everything, Thank you 10 out of 10 - Great place to stay, 10 out of 10 breakfast, very nice people Nothing, very happy with my stay
- elizabeth (10/5): A wonderful stay in a warm welcoming family run B&B ; highly recommended. - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we especially appreciated the warm welcome we received from our hosts James and Katherine; they are very hospitable and make you feel like you're staying in a home away from home.
Our room (room 4) was very nice, spotlessly clean with ample storage space and an excellent large wide screen TV. The bathroom was also of a good size, again spotlessly clean with a bath/shower with plentiful hot water. The room looked out onto the main High St, however, it was very quiet due to the presence of double glazing and we enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep each evening (Chard is a quiet town anyway with not much nightlife).
We enjoyed a superb full English cooked breakfast each morning along with our hosts homemade granola and muesli which was the best we've ever tasted. You will not taste a better breakfast !!
Parking was easy, although it is a two hour bay outside the lodge between 8am-6pm we were out exploring the area each day and when we returned at teatime we always had a parking space so all was good.
The lodge is an excellent base to explore south Somerset, west Dorset or east Devon as Chard is very central.
We will definitely stay here again if we return to this area. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Friendly Guest House which is spotlessly clean. - A lovely place to stay in a good location. The hosts are a lovely couple who are keen to make the visit a great experience. The room was very clean and comfortable. Loved the availability of a fan on a hot night! Tea tray is fantastic, complete with local baked biscuits. Stayed in a twin bedded room. Bed was a bit softer than I like but that is a personal taste.
- Matthew (10/5): - Lovely B&B, made to feel very welcome. Will stay again next time we are visiting the area.
- Mark (9/5): -
