- Alain (10/5): - Très bel endroit, vraiment calme, et Angela, l’hôte, vraiment agréable et sympathique et très accommodante.
- Jennifer (10/5): - The cedar cottage was just the right size for the 2 of us. Had a full fridge which was nice. The porch was great for having coffee and reading. It was quiet with a nice view of the mountain.
- Helen (7/5): A very peaceful stay but just needs a few changes to make it even better. - Very peaceful and the staff was very responsive. There were no instructions for use of a complicated TV/DVD/Satallite system. The foaucet in the bathroom was a bit quirky. And we wish it had been a bit closer to places to eat and buy groceries. Also, there should be more lighting in the cabin--it was very dark even with lights on.
- Wayne (10/5): Best place to stay in the Margaree Valley! 😊 - Everything! 😃 It rained too much!😆
- robert (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay at Cajun Cabins . The cabins are spotless, convenient to access and park. Angela , the owner /operator , is wonderful , efficient , and very accommodating to her guests ! Will definitely return and highly recommend her business.
- Kevin (10/5): Very nice stay. Would recommend to anyone looking to do the trail or just looking for a quiet place - Loction was good , and Owner was very nice. Trees in front of cottage are getting a little high and blocking the view of the mountains , should be topped or removed.
- Elie (10/5): Exceptional - The View of the mountains from the cottage is marvelous, very relaxing and inspiring!
- Kim (10/5): This place books fast so if you’re lucky to get one grab it while you can! - This property is a small out of the way, quite country cabins. It was easily accessible. If you want peace and quiet check this place out.
- Dorothy (8/5): Would stay there again - 5 night stay was good. Place was convenient and price was right. Very helpful management. Only disappointment was the air conditioner was not good enough for space. It was in the high 80s. Very warm at night.
- Arthur (8/5): Very good - Quiet, clean, easy check-in, in touch with nature. Nothing
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Jammy (8/5): - Great view of the Hills from the front of the cottage.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): - The cabin was great. It was a great place to send some quiet time relaxing. It was clean and had laundry on site. Would recommend.
- Sandra (10/5): Relaxing stay with magnificent views - Beautiful views, peaceful and loved the porch for morning coffee! Very clean cottage and grocery store close. Angela was lovely and checking in to see if we needed anything . Highly recommend this cottage.
- Ryan (10/5): Perfect stay for couples! - Beautiful scenery, amazing hospitality!
- Mustaq (10/5): Exceptional - Great place with an amazing host!
- Nr (9/5): Forest cottage on Cabot trail - It is quite, clean and well-maintained. There is a lot of property around and it is really a forest cottage. The location is ok for visiting the western part of Cabot Trail (Inverness county / Cheticamp)
- Liane (10/5): - Great little cabin, highly recommend. Angela the hostess was friendly and welcoming
- Ron (10/5): - A breataking view of the Margaree Valley and world class ATLantic salmon river in the Cape Breton Highlands! Accommodations are clean, yet simple in log cabins immaculately kept.
- Jan (9/5): Clean quiet location at a reasonable cost - Great location. Very clean and quiet. Cabin had everything we wanted at a reasonable price. We were allowed to check in a couple of hours early. Laundry facility was appreciated. A printed list of such things as office hours, linen exchange process, local restaurants and beaches, location of laundry room, items that can be recycled, etc. would have made it easier to remember all the info that was provided orally.
- Sheldon (10/5): It's a wonderful place to stay for an extended stay. - The cabin was spacious and well equipped with stove, fridge, each from heated with separate thermostats, and an AC (which we never needed) and a laundry room on premises. There as a covered porch with chairs facing a beautiful view of the mountains. It is close to a supermarket and a wonderful bakery/cafe. We were there for a week and a half but could have stayed much longer. The host was very friendly and helpful. It would be perfect for a long term stay like a month or more. There is also a path leading down to a famous trout and salmon river, the Margaree River and it is gorgeous. Nothing
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Boycek77 (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): - Right on the Trail. Go east or west for great day trips.
- Kathy (10/5): lovely property in a great location and strong customer service - clean, private, good location, responsive to questions before and during stay liked it all
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): was the best part of our vacation from NB to PEI - was beautiful and the cabin was amazing the central location to everything
- Joan (10/5): - Great, clean, well appointed cabins in beautiful area. Very close to all amenities. Highly recmmend.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Carolyn (9/5): We had a great time and we’re enamoured with the beauty. - Angela, the proprietor was helpful and friendly. The property is well located and extremely beautiful. The set up worked well for our family of 5. Kitchen had the basics but could have had a few things like larger cutting board, proper knife.
- Ji (9/5): Superb -
- Jillian (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the cottage. Super clean and comfortable beds. Nice quite location and close to some beautiful beaches. Angela was super nice and helpful.
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional - I liked the location and the views the space that you have to walk your pets the quite and the stars in the night and that we are very close to very nice beaches Air conditioning
- Antonino (8/5): Very good - quiet, clean and comfortable . Well located. No air conditioning in bedroom, which was only a problem during an extreme heat event
- Michael (6/5): - First the positive - great location, quiet, clean and the manager (Angela) was very accommodating and friendly. On the improvement front, the amenities aren't great (kitchen stove barely worked, WIFI was completely unusable and too slow to do anything, bed was very uncomfortable). For the price, we were expecting a bit more.
- Janine (8/5): Family trip - Nice cabin, ac didn't help much with the heat. Power outage made it even warmer. Conveniently located on the Cabot Trail.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was beautiful. Cabins were very clean and comfortable
- Lyudmila (10/5): Nice cozy place - Almost an ideal place.
Clean, amazing surrounding, close to ocean.
I wish the service would be a little bit friendlier, but it might be a local character.
- Dennis (10/5): - I had an amazing stay at cajun cedar log cottages, the place was extremely clean and comfortable. The manager Angela was very accomidating ensuring I had all that I needed, I see that she works very hard at her job, and has great pride in what she does. When I go back to Cape Breton I wil be sure to stay at one of these cottages again. I work very hard and can appreciate and respect someone who does the same. Thank you again Cajun Cedar Log Cottages, and Angela for a great stay on the Cabot Trail.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Sehr nette Betreuung, ruhig und schön gelegen, gut ausgestattete Cabin.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great pillows, comfortable bed. Kitchen was well set up.Great eating on the porch after grilling dinner. Quiet everyone was respectful of cabins close to each other. Just down right peaceful enjoyed watching the sunset and listening to the geese.
- Richard (10/5): - Un séjour de trois nuitées qui nous a permis de profiter du calme de l’endroit en fin de journée, après nos visites et déplacements le long de la route Cabot.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable, clean, and cosy accommodations. We enjoyed every minute!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property is right on the Cabot trail in scenic Margaree Forks. The location was perfect for us as we only intended to go up to Pleasant Bay. The cabins are very clean, but kitchen space is limited and bathroom is tight. As you might expect, the pull out bed is not stellar, but ok for a small child. My one hesitation is that the cabin we stayed in had an unpleasant odor that never went away. The owner thought it was because it had been closed up and gave us a scented candle. However, the odor was there the entire time and became unpleasant any time the windows were shut.
- diane (8/5): Couples trip - Loved the 2 bedroom cabin but lighting was inefficient for any kind of reading once it was dark outside. Overall, we loved it but we expected more opened space in front of the porch. View from the porch was disappointing. t
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was quiet and the furniture and beds were so very comfortable. The kitchen had every thing we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the cottage it was very cozy and clean, the only thing missing was a woodstove or fireplace
- Doug (10/5): - The people there were extremely pleasant and helpful.
- JAE (8/5): Real Log Cabin, on the way to the Cabot trail - Slightly weathered, but comfortable. The theme is "natural" for this lovely log cabin.
Everything is solid wood, which is what log cabin should be.
Kitchen was great to cook with ton of utensils, bathroom had plenty of hot water for everyone. Also, gas-fired fireplace works quick & is prefect after a long day of sightseeing.
It is at the perfect location on the way to Cheticamp in about 30 mins, then go on to the Cabot trail. Also, it's at the beginning of the "loop" to go around the island. Thus, I'd say it's a great base to go around Cape Breton.
We only stayed there for two nights, being busy visiting the trail but the staff lady was also fantastic & very approachable. I highly recommend this place over other motels/b&b in the area. Co-op grocery store is only 5 minute drive, which is a huge help for cooking.
- Charles (10/5): - Amazing experience, great accommodations, reasonable price and friendly staff. I got everything that I needed for the experience I wanted. I went to Nova Scotia for a golf trip and I wanted a nice quiet peaceful retreat for after golf. The cottages are perfect for couples, families and even groups.
- LA (10/5): - 6 individual cottages on the property. Very nice and clean. Stocked kitchen.
- Vanessa (6/5): Good location for the Cabot Trail - We were really excited to stay here before we arrived but we were disappointed with the condition of the cabins interior based on cost. They are snug which is ok but for the price we would expect the interior to be updated. It was very clean though and a good location for what we wanted to do. Overall underwhelmed as we didn’t find it good value compared to other places we stayed in Nova Scotia.
- Katherine (10/5): Wonderful in every way! - We loved our romantic private log cabin in this gorgeous place. Angela is the perfect host.
- Chris (10/5): - Rundreise durch Nova Scotia/Neuschottland im Juni 2018
- Kathryn (10/5): Our stay in 2-person log cabin - Loved our stay at Cajun Cedar Log Cabins. Margaree Forks is a beautiful part of the Cabot Trail and if you enjoy cooking in a few nights while on holiday - I would highly recommend it. Immaculately clean, and well equipped.
There are places close by to grab a bite if you don't feel like cooking :)
- World Traveller (10/5): Perfectly Peaceful Getaway - Comfortable cottages in a peaceful and relaxing setting. This trip was my second time staying here and I will definitely be back! Beautiful country setting and a convenient location with shops and restaurants located just a short drive away. Management is fantastic and very quick to address any issues or make recommendations for the area. Wish I could have stayed longer!
- Jerry (8/5): Cozy little log cabin - We stayed here for a couple of nights to see Cape Breton. Cabin is right on the Cabot Trail. Cabin was comfortable with a nice view. Kitchen was not stocked very well and coffe maker did not work well - coffee was barely warm. Closest reastaurants are 20 to 30 minutes away. Overall we enjoyed staying in this little cabin.
- Jo (10/5): Cozy cabin in the Cabot Trail - We lucked out by finding this cabin and booking it last minute on a long weekend. I really liked it and enjoyed my stay! Cozy, charming, we had a cute 1 bedroom cabin. The kitchen & bbq are a plus, you can cook if you want. Our cabin was clean, the owner was nice and inviting. I would go back if I ever return to the Cabot Trail region.
- Robert (6/5): Rustic Charm - Average stay in an average cabin, nothing fancy, but comfortable, but too many little things..."Oh by the ways" I call them...
- John K (10/5): Hard to improve - Very central to a huge variety of activities. Local restaurants are superb. Beaches amazing. You are right on the Cabot Trail.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, cottage was great for 4 people, would have been tight for 6. Very comfortable and staff were kind and helpful. Would stay here again.
- Jacinta (10/5): Great honeymoon! - We recently stayed at Cottage #6, everything was exactly as pictured. The cottages are beautiful and clean and have every amenity that you would need. Angela is a very warm and welcoming person and given the chance we would definitely stay here again.
- Mimi (8/5): Small and cozy log cottage - We had a very nice stay at Cajun Cootage. The cabin had everything you needed to stay comfortable. Good location if you want to go salmon fly fishing or go whale watching. The owner was very accomodating and efficient .
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful setting - Cute cabin with just the right amenities. A gas grill, dishes, tv, ac, heat, adirondack chairs, laundry facilities.
- Karen (8/5): Nice cottage stay along the Cabot Trail - Cajun Cottages were very clean and homey. Good option for families. Laundry facilities, gas barbecue, good location. Angela was very welcoming and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - My husband and I have been on a road trip through Canada's Maritime provinces for nearly 2 weeks. We have been staying at traditional hotels, but decided to try the cabin, as a change. We were extremely happy with our decision.
The cabins are clean, spacious, and equipt with everything you would need for an extended stay. Being able to move freely around several rooms is a bonus, especially after being confined to only hotel rooms.
The kitchen is fully appointed, so we were able to cook and enjoy snow crabs gotten fresh from the docks that day. The front porch is a quiet, restful place to read- or just relax. The cabin is decorated perfectly for the "at home" feel. In all of the places we have stayed during our trip, this was by far the most enjoyable.
Our hosts Mrs L and her daughter treated us as though we were guests in their own home, fulfilling certain requests that were not part of a typical stay. When the local grocery was closed, they went above and beyond to be sure we were able to get what we needed.
Recommend a stay at Cajun Cedar Log Cottages? Overwhelmingly YES! My only regret is that we had to leave so soon.
- Coralee Tingley (10/5): Nice and peaceful - Its our second time there and love it still. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Just a great place to stay. :)
- Love2Travel (10/5): Cabot Trail Gem - Stayed in a double cabin and it was great. Very clean, comfortable beds though they are only double beds so keep that in mind if you are taller. There is also a queen sized sofa bed in the main area of the cabin though.
A large rain storm with 100 km/hr winds came through when we were staying there and knocked out power to most of the island. The propane fireplace kept us very warm (it was near freezing outside) but had no water and couldn't use any of the kitchen appliances obviously. They don't have a backup power generator but Staff checked to make sure we were ok in the morning and brought water for drinking and for the toilets. Staff are very friendly.
Interior walls of cabin so not offer a lot of privacy as you could probably hear a pin drop in the next room even with the door closed. Keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper as I am.
- Michael (6/5): Ok cabins - Cabins are ok, clean and tidy, you can drive the Cabot trail and get in a couple of short walks a get back in a full day.
Wi-fi's not great, and the beds are a bit small, but I was told they will be upgraded for next year.
Big fridge and a co-op up the road a bit.
The woman in the office is very pleasant and helpful.
Might be a bit expensive for
- Verified traveler (8/5): Roomy cabin for 2 - Private, quiet cabin well located for visiting Cheticamp, Cape Bretin Highlands Park, and Baddeck.
- Paul and LouAnn (10/5): Lovely cabin stay - We enjoyed the comfort, cleanliness and privacy of this cabin stay. It was a nice change from hotels. We stayed here for two nights and would definitely recommend it.
- Rebecca (10/5): Convenient central location - The cottages were a perfect balance of seclusion and proximity to activities that interested us. The cottages included a full kitchen and about 1.5 miles from a grocery store, making it easy to cook for ourselves. The cottages are well maintained and very clean. The manager was willing to do any housekeeping for us at any time as well. The bed and furniture were nice and suited our one week stay well. The visitors center was very helpful and is only about a mile down the road. The location is also central to many salmon fishing holes, many within walking distance. We also enjoyed seeing the Salmon museum and hatchery, the Glenora Distillery, and the Highlands Village living museum.
- Lilly (10/5): Nice Cottage - This was a beautiful cozy cottage. It was very clean. We enjoyed staying here. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this cottage.
