Guest Reviews
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Gorgeous stay. The staff were exceptional nothing was too much trouble. They are a real credit to the management. I attended to go to Yarndale in addition to celebrating my friends birthday. The restaurant was lovely with lots of choice including specials and with a prompt courteous service and a great ambiance. Will definitely be back when the log fire gets lit. Highly recommend for a lovely get away
- Jenny (10/5): Fantastic - Warm and friendly welcome. Lovely cosy bedroom with a fantastic modern bathroom. We had drinks in the conservatory on the comfy sofas than our evening meal which was delicious. Summer menu was a good deal and the Al a carte menu had lots of delicious options to chose from. Waitresses were friendly. A delicious breakfast in the morning. The coffee was a little too strong but the waitress brought extra hot water when requested. Throughly recommended, five ⭐️
- Louise (8/5): - Clean rooms, excellent service
Restaurant: amazing food, Looked after in restaurant with great staff and service. Gluten free catered for. Highly recommend roast dinner, and fish and chips, large portions (female opinion)
Only negative point was noise coming through older thin windows, however we had an early night due to early hike, this probably wouldnt be a problem otherwise
- Alastair (10/5): - Excellent stay from start to finish!
- david (10/5): - Very comfortable stay
Staff very friendly and accomodating
Breakfast excellent
- Tracey (10/5): Top Pub Stay - We booked two rooms as a family celebration for my husband’s birthday. This is the third time my husband and I have stayed and as ever the food, room, bar, friendliness of the staff as well as email communication was top class. I look forward to our next visit!
- Ian (10/5): - amazing place great food and lovely service
- Robert (10/5): - The stag were extremely welcoming, warm and friendly. The room was a very good size with a modern en-suite bathroom. The evening meal menu had a varied selection for all tastes and the quality of food was excellent, being very well cooked and presented. Breakfast was high quality local produce with a large serving. Overall we had a fantastic stay and great nights sleep with a large high quality mattress and comfortable pillows. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue and we would definitely stay again when in the area.
- Sara (10/5): - Excellent find during our Penines walk.
Staff were so obliging. Breakfast and evening meal were fabulous and very tasty
Rooms lovely well decorated and clean.
Nice garden good parking and quaint village setting
Added bonus was being able to charge the car overnight
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend pub, rooms and food - Stayed at The Plough for one night and can’t recommend highly enough!
The staff were very warm and welcoming, the pub has a nice atmosphere, the room was great and the evening meal and breakfast were delicious!
- Gerry (10/5): Amazing Plough - This place is amazing, food was awesome and friendly service like I haven’t experienced in a long time! We’ll be back.
- Christopher (8/5): The Plough Inn - With so much to do and see in the Yorkshire dales, the Plough Inn is the perfect location.
Very friendly and helpful staff escorting us to the room and making sure we were comfortable.
Friendly bar staff providing a good selection of wines, beers and spirits at sensible prices.
The restaurant menu is perfect. Simple and straightforward choice and the food is the same, just perfect.
- Roger (10/5): - Stayed here Saturday night, staff, room food and bar were all amazing, defo worth a visit
- Jean (10/5): - excellent food,very well trained staff
- suzanne (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at the plough for three nights. Maddie and the team were wonderful. Ensuring we had a meal on arrival after a very long drive, and not thinking we would get there after the cut off time for food.
Evening Food was very good, as was breakfast.
Beautiful building and great location for driving around.
If I wanted to be picky. Then I would say the rooms are not well sound proofed. But it is an old building. And the rooms appeared to have some damp coming through the ceiling onto the walls. Having said that it’s an old building, and nothing that prevented us having a great stay. Room was very comfortable, if a little dark. Maybe could do with an extra lamp for the ladies. But overall we had a great stay, staff were great and we will definitely return.
- Mr Colin (10/5): - Great (2nd) one night stay at the Plough for a family get together. Comfortable, clean rooms, excellent dining, good choice of beers and wines, highly recommended and will return
- Paul (10/5): - A lovely and welcoming place offering a little bit of class.
Will definitely stay here again.
- Liam (10/5): - Really enjoyable stay and accommodating.
- Ash (10/5): - Great value for money, lovely helpful staff, excellent facilities
- Darren (8/5): - Food lovely, friendly staff. Bar area small. Ideal location for hiking.
- Robert (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful pub/hotel. Lovely gardens, fantastic food, very accommodating staff and impressive rooms. Bar excellent as well. Couldn't recommend more highly!
- Philip (10/5): Excellent - Everything about our stay at the Plough was perfect from start to finish. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms comfortable and clean. Food was excellent and well presented with care. Thank you and well done to all the staff at the Plough.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect weekend away - Wonderful stay. Staff helpful and very attentive. Comfy bed and lots of apace in the room. Food beautiful, breakfast equally so. Would stay there again for sure. Thank you for making it special.
- Timothy (10/5): - Nice to place to stay. Rooms are very warm and sometimes the late night drinkers keep you awake.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to stay. - Great food, great staff, lovely place to be. Our room was close to either the central heating boiler or ventilation or something else for the hotel, so was a little annoying throughout the night as it never went off. Bed was lovely, big TV, nice facilities however we had no milk for the tea/coffee machine. The surrounding areas is beautiful and we had some lovely walks. Apart from the small issues we had will study again.
- Keith (8/5): - A very good small hotel with helpful friendly staff and excellent food. The only small criticism is that it was quite cold in the communal areas such as the bar. The restaurant area was much better. We would definitely stay here again.
- Wayne (10/5): - A lovely relaxing weekend stay. The Plough is a great place to visit. Food in the evening is well presented and tasty. The breakfast is one of the best we’ve had. All the staff are fantastic.
- Harold (8/5): - The food was excellent ( we had both breakfast and an evening meal). The bar area and restaurant were too open, hence we were a bit cold. The room was comfortable in terms of bed linen, TV etc but the window draughty. Mirror in bathroom useless and it needs a soap/ shampoo tray holder in shower. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Good value for money overall.
- Suzanne (10/5): Great pub with fabulous food - We had a one night stay here and evening meal. The pub is lovely and our meal was amazing. All the staff were really friendly and efficient. A great place to stay as a base for walking in the area - thoroughly recommend
- Martyn (6/5): - We had a lovely overnight stay here.
The hotel is warm, comfortable and clean.
The food was excellent and breakfast choice and food again excellent.
The only negative is on arrival. We checked in but was given no information regarding breakfast, how to use coffee machine. We were promised fresh milk but we had to go remind the staff as she had forgotten. We asked her to book us into the restaurant for dinner which it seems she forgot that too. But we did get in and enjoyed it very much.
- Mr Colin (10/5): - Excellent overnight stay at the Plough for a family get together. Very welcoming and friendly staff, well appointed and comfortable rooms (Room 5 was very warm however, couldn't get the radiator down to below "hot", other two rooms booked were spacious and fine), fabulous dinner menu and gastro food, would not hesitate to stay again or recommend.
- Robert (10/5): Exquisite dining experience and great service - Great stay at the Plough. Fantastic and engaging staff and next level food. A lot of effort has been put into the decor and ambience and it has certainly paid off. The dining experience was first class, with a range of locally sourced food exquisitely prepared and presented. I cannot recommend enough.
- Emily (10/5): Gorgeous Inn - food and stay fab! - It was our first visit to the Plough, on arrival i wouldnt say the lady was over friendly however when the shifts changed over the staff were friendly and helpful!
Food was fantastic, evening meal and breakfast fab!
Lively pub/restaurant and great atmosphere. The rooms were stylish and comfortable.
- Louise (10/5): Perfect stay - highly recommended. - We had a really enjoyable stay! The hotel staff went over and above to help us and give great service. I would 100% recommend this hotel. Rooms were clean, huge bathrooms and seriously comfy beds.
- Jon (10/5): - Our first time at the Plough and will definately be back. Great accomodation and a lovely character pub but with excellent dining. The staff could not be more helpful and welcoming.
- Katy (10/5): - Loved enjoying an excellent dinner in the conservatory, with a perfect view of the stars. Staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. Dinner and breakfast was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. Lovely decor, comfortable beds and good room facilities. My son and I loved the chickens!
- Daniel (10/5): Great stay - Great experience although the bedroom got a little hot at night but other than that was great, any the staff were fab too
- Allison (10/5): Peace and quiet with all the attention you need! - Lovely!
It was an impulse plan to treat ourselves to a few days away for our 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Delightful ”out in the country” location.
Room & facilities lovely, staff so friendly and attentive.
Plenty of interesting places to visit too within very close range.
Food really good! Eggs Royale for breakfast amazing but order a half portion if, like me you’re not used to eating a lot in the morning! Evening menu lovely too.
- Helen (8/5): Superb food - The plough inn is a fantastic hotel location is beautiful but a little remote. Food was absolutely amazing and definitely worth a special trip. Rooms were a little noisy due to old nature of building. Was disappointed that towels weren’t changed for the second night as there wasn’t any way they could be dried due to temperature and wet towel was hung back up on door to be used again
- Louise (10/5): - Lovely stay, warm welcome, excellent food. Beautiful scenery and very relaxing.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Superb in all aspects. About the only minor fault is there was no shelf in the shower for flannel, shampoo etc.
- Anne (8/5): Check the bar/restaurant is open - We booked to stay here in February for the end of May, We booked here because they have a bar and restaurant which we were looking forward to. Unfortunately just a few days before our stay I had a phone call letting us know the bar and restaurant won’t be open on the nights we were staying (Mon and Tues). This was a shame. Although we were kindly offered free cancellation because of this we still went ahead as I’d booked via our Tesco vouchers via hotels.com and I didn’t want the hassle of sorting it all out. My advice is to check before you book to see if these facilities are open. The room was very nice and clean with a very comfortable bed and lovely hot large walk in shower. Our toilet seat was in need of repair but usable. There isn’t a fridge in the room but there is a hairdryer although we didn’t use it. The wardrobe only had 2 coat hangers in it! There isn’t a kettle but an expresso coffee machine of which some instructions wouldn’t go a miss.
There was a constant dull buzzing noise in the room which unfortunately did interfere with sleep quality.
- Sally (10/5): - Gorgeous location. Beautifully appointed room. Automatic bathroom light means that if you get up in the middle of the night the bathroom light comes in flooding the bedroom with light, probably should be an override switch.
Lovely breakfast, possibly the best we have had in the UK this trip.
- John (10/5): - Just great
- David (8/5): Very picturesque - Lovely pub/accommodation set in picturesque countryside. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Excellent restaurant and breakfast. Room clean and well presented.
Nothing really negative to say apart from a window that rattled in our room due to the wind, but I managed to solve that. As the rooms are situated above the bar, you do get a bit of noise but it was the weekend and that is to be expected. Overall, well worth the visit.
- Ian (10/5): - Met some friends who were also staying here and it was great. Lovely, warm and welcoming bar area with a fire to have pre dinner drinks in and a beautiful dining room
- Mr Paul (10/5): Beautiful - Great hotel, great staff, beautiful decor
- Ian (10/5): - From entering in to the Plough a great welcome the staff are all first Class the service is excellent and the food is amazing if you are in the area please dont miss out on this Jem
- Paul (10/5): Super Country Hotel - Excellent country hotel with very obliging staff in all areas.
Top quality breakfast individually cooked, not left under a warming light as in many hotels we have stayed in.
Delicious evening menu in the main restaurant could not be faulted.
We shall definitely return
- David (10/5): - I most stunning country inn with a great restaurant and lovely accommodation backed by a great chef and wonderful staff, the breakfast is an experience in its own !!, Wigglesworth is so pretty and the surrounding views stunning
- Simon (10/5): Truly excellent pub with amazing food - Truly amazing evening on first night of our honeymoon.. staff very attentive and caring
Food was Devine .. they will soon be winning awards of that we have no doubt !
Surrounding countryside adds to whole experience.. one of best places we have stayed in long time. Well done to John and his team
- Julian (8/5): 9/4/2022 - The Food was amazingly good and very attentive to detail, this was unfortunately slightly let down by marks on the pillows and bedspread. The staff were mostly young and what appeared to be in training but extremely polite.
The rooms were very nicely done to a high standard with the exception of a standard tv ariel therefore having to have a netflix account to watch anything other than bbc i player.
These issues asside I would definitely stay again.
- Sophie (10/5): - Amazing stay with delicious food!
- Robert (10/5): - This place and the staff never fail to deliver on all fronts.
Food is also top quality, both in the restaurant and the breakfast. 😃
- Robert (10/5): - This place is a must to stay, staff really friendly and helpful
Food is amazing, top Chef.
Big thank you to John for making our stay special !
- Ian (8/5): - The hotel was newly refurbished and had just reopened. It was very clean and the staff were friendly. The room was a good size with a lovely shower although a little chilly possibly due to no double glazing and a radiator that didn’t seem big enough for the room size . Breakfast was very nice , but limited in choice . As they had only just reopened , and due to staffing problems , there was no evening meal available which was a disappointment and it would have been nice to know this at point of booking.
- Vincent (10/5): A wonderful place to stay - A wonderful place to stay. The information that they sent out was really useful before our visit. We were only stating one night but they were so accommodating to our health needs and the advice of asking us we were were there for the evening meal and to ensure we booked a table and what time we were looking at not just arriving but also what time we would like to eat. Also what time we were planning to have breakfast so it wasn't crowded. Also as we were relying on Taxis or public transport to carry on our little holiday they immediately knew who were the best Taxi firm to contact.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Lovely staff
Building/rooms need some repainting/repairs
- Bruce (10/5): - Bar, restaurant, lodging in one place. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - .a nice friendly place to stay. great for country walks not to far from settle which is a town worth visiting
- DEBORAH (10/5): - Stayed with my daughter for 3 peak walk. Staff were lovely and even provided us with slippers after the long walk. Would have loved to have tried the food but we arrived too late. Would definitely stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Clean, cosy property with charm and character.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We booked a nights stay 6 months ago. At 4pm Monday (the night before our stay) the hotel emails me stating they are not open on Tuesdays so could not accommodate us..!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): One to avoid - The service wasn’t great . There were cobwebs and dust in our room . Wouldn’t recommend this hotel especially as it cost us £128 a night , I’ve had better service from budget hotels . Very disappointing
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nice property needs updating wifi etc no hot water poor brrmk
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the property has an old rustic feel about it and gemma was most wellcoming
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's a way from busy areas you can unwind and relax
- dawn (10/5): - Lovely weekend at The Plough. Gemma is a brilliant host. Attentive but not intrusive. Good quality home made food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and quiet. Lovely atmosphere only draw back....narrow lanes to get to it. :-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hosts, friendly and nothing too much trouble.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room and hotel facilities were great, unfortunately breakfast timings were a bit late for me as I had to check out early
- Gordon (8/5): Character Inn - It's not the Ritz, but it's a warm friendly country inn. Situated very near the Yorkshire Dales. So if want quirky character stay, it will tick the box.
- dom (6/5): - Welcome good, service not so good, waitress couldn’t multi task. She took an age to serve when i had to ask for something I was told she was busy and would forget can I wait at the table( note book and pen???) there was only 4 tables occupied.
Dinner choice limited
Breakfast uncooked
- Ginny (10/5): A Village Reatreat - I would highly recommend this hotel.when you walk through the door, you are greeted by warm friendly staff and a lovely log fire burning. The management, go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and that you enjoy your stay.Excellent food , we will definately stopping again.
- Lynne (10/5): Super weekend with friends well done - Amazing great place great food great welcome will come again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great weekend away - A lovely stay in a comfortable and friendly inn. Attentive staff, good food and service, well equipped room. Great location for access to walks in this beautiful part of the country.
- Carl (10/5): Weekend Away - The Plough has a lovely village pub experience, its main strength is Gemma who is delightful. The rooms were super, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Evening meal in the conservatory was very enjoyable and a lovely space to be in. We moved in to the main bar area and completed the experience having a coffee in front of an open log fire. Breakfast was very nice and carried the country pub theme. Not sure about the Christmas decorations hmmmmm. All in all a fantastic and relaxing time away and some super things to do in the surrounding area. Well done Gemma:))
- Michael (10/5): A lovely place to stay. - A very good welcome from our hosts. Highly recommended.
- Jacqui (10/5): Lovely hotel, great location - I was walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks so this was an ideal location for this.
Staff were amazing, when I came back after the walk they were so lovely, they even had me in a ground floor room so I didn't have to climb the stairs...very thoughtful.
Food was fabulous, couldn't fault the place
- Karen (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Enjoyable stay, friendly staff and lovely food.
