- Colin (8/5): Enjoyable, good baths and tasty food - Good baths and great food Pillows quite shallow
- Rodney (8/5): Excellent, bang for you're buck. Highly recommended. - Wanna try driving in rural Japan. Well, here is one of the best hotel I have experience. Upon entering, the staff greeted us immidiately in the door and help us with our luggage and how the facilities work. The location is also stunning, surrounded by luscious green foliage view in the window with the Aizu river. The meals is authentic kaiseki as it going to get. The onsen is truly amazing with it's main feature the open air bath with a view of the waterfall in aizu river. Overall, money well spent and would come back again. I would only complain about the parking because on there description, it is hard to find the parking and had to use google maps to find it and it is still wrong when staff showed us. Anyways, I would like if they put that on there descpition if you are driving.
- Esther Eunice (9/5): A perfect ryokan experience - This is my second time here but this time we were a big group. Our last minute changes were accommodated well. The dinner was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The private bath's water has a certain smell to it that I couldn't figure out (not clean enough? I am not sure.)
- mattia (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing onsen and Japanese cuisine experience - Harataki met and possibly even exceeded our expectations. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was comfortable, large and with a beautiful view over the river (which could be heard gently through the window). The meals were simply sensational and definitely exceeded our expectations both in terms of quality, presentation and quantity with a two part meal, half pre arranged and the rest in a buffet format with great variety and always very high quality. Other than dinner one of the highlights of our stay was certainly the private onsen bath which was absolutely gorgeous and well worth it, with a private bath by the waterfall, absolutely beautiful and romantic. Nothing
- Erica (10/5): What an exceptional onsen hotel. The meals were the best we have experienced in Japan and the staff were outstanding!! - Everything including the lovely staff, onsen and beautiful meals served!! Nothing

- Ilke (9/5): The dinner here is the best food ever had. - You have to take the dinner! It was incredible and a highlight. The sashimi, hotpot and desserts. Best ever had. There wasn’t a place to sit outside.
- Saunders (10/5): Relaxing stay with great food and service - The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent so make sure you get the meal inclusions. The private Onsen rooms are fantastic we tried 3 of the 4. Close walk to the bus stop for the loop bus and so many interesting things to see around town. It’s right on a running stream which provides a soothing sound to fall to sleep to. Nothing everything was perfect
- Esther Eunice (10/5): A perfect place to stay in Aizuwakamatsu - -location is near the river, mountain in Higashiyama Onsen
-there are 4 private baths to use for a fee (¥2000 for hotel guests)
-food is superb esp the dinner (worth it!)
-price is just right
-a great place to experience Japanese Ryokan and kaiseki meal
-staffs are warm and hospitable even doing extra mile to speak English

- Jessica (10/5): We wished that we could have stayed longer to explore more and enjoy this hotel to its fullest - The breakfast was delicious! It was so beautiful and tasty and was too much to finish. The staff's service was attentive and they were very sweet, using a translator to ensure that we were well taken care of nothing! we loved everything about this hotel

- Jordan (10/5): - The buffet dinner and breakfast were amazing. The onsen was very nice looking out at the waterfall. They have other entertainment such as karaoke, which you have to reserve at the front desk. Spacious rooms overlook the stream and the given Ukata was comfortable. Friendly staff as well, even helped with booking a taxi. You need a taxi to get to the hotel.
- Juan Miguel (10/5): Loved the onsen and kaiseki dinner meals. - Great onsen
- Lia (10/5): - Les onsens sont incroyables !
- Shinya (5/5): -
- Priscila (7/5): - Les bains onsen La nourriture était moyenne

- Jason (5/5): Passable -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Great facilities plus a wonderful onsen. Meals also provided were great.
- Riki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eriza (9/5): Easily accessible via car, this ryokan stay and food experience was lovely. -
- Jannik (8/5): Very good - You can walk to aizu bukeyashiki within 15mins from the hotel, which is great. The rooms are pretty unspectacular and I was disappointed to see no Kotatsu inside the rooms during our December stay. The private outdoor onsen my wife and I booked for an hour was way too hot to even get in and there was no way to adjust the temperature by adding in cold water. It was the hottest water we experienced during our whole trip to Japan and we simply couldn't get because it was so hot. The public onsen on the other hand is amazing. The outdoor area has many smaller pools that cascade their way through the outdoor area and this does not only look great but also all of the pools had different temperatures so we could enjoy them without any issues.
As for the kaiseki - it was half kaiseki half buffet which we felt was a great middleground that worked very well. Food was amazing and I would highly recommend the dinner.
One thing to mention is that they provided a free shuttle to the station on check out day and the driver went above and beyond to ensure we get the right train (or bus in our case)
Still, compared to other similar hotels we've visited, it felt a bit overpriced and lacked the wow-factor. bit pricy for what you get; location not too convenient.
- Maysita (10/5): Exceptional - My family and I absolutely loved our stay here. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. I imagine it would be even more stunning during autumn. The service was exceptional, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast. They even prepared a special kids' meal for my son, which was so thoughtful. If we ever have the chance to visit this city again, we would definitely stay here Nothing
- Lucy (10/5): Great traditional Ryoken experience for families and all - Great traditional Ryoken, stunning location, staff were all excellent, friendly and accommodating. The food was all delicious, great amenities, amazing private Onsen. Overall the experience was just amazing, especially with a young toddler we were very comfortable for our stay. Highly recommend as a place to visit.
- Gradwohl (10/5): Absolute recommendation. - Absolutely lovely staff, beautiful landscape and wonderful baths. I really recommend renting one of the private baths. We got the wooden bathtub with open view into the woods and Yu river and were stunned by the beauty of everything. The meal in the restaurant consisted of regional specialties as well as a big buffet to choose from. I would definitely like to return here!
- Jan (10/5): Very very kind and friendly stuff that is willing to help by all means, gorgeous private onsens and traditional japanese - The food was really amazing and the atmosphere and friendly personell too. No complaints
- Claire (8/5): Good to relax in the open air bath beside the waterfall and have a delicious dinner. - The food was delicious and the open air bath was really great. We could also get massages for an additional charge. The staff were very efficient and polite. The building itself is a bit old. There was even a cigarette vending machine!!
- Susan (10/5): A delightful onsen hotel in the heart of nature - This hotel has an absolutely spectacular location, perched on the side of a ravine. All the rooms seem to face outwards into this incredible space, so you really feel in close contact with nature. We were lucky to be there at the height of autumn leaf colour too.
We had a lovely welcome from the staff when we arrived. They were exceptionally helpful re sending our larger bags onward by takkubin.
The public onsen is stunning, with a wonderful outside onsen too, overhanging the waterfall and stream.
We booked one of the private baths, which was fabulous, and I would highly recommend it. There are several different private onsen, so, with a bit of forward planning, you could try several different ones, even in short stay - for the more extreme onsen lovers perhaps!
The restaurant was excellent. I am very glad we booked for dinner, which was a feast, and combined table service with an extensive buffet. Breakfast was delicious, buffet style.
Everything about our stay was comfortable and things went very smoothly. We travelled to Aizuwakamatsu by train, and onwards to the hotel by taxi.
We were only there one night, and would love to return. There was very little that wasn't excellent about our stay.
My one comment about the bath - there is a flight of stairs down to the outside public bath (both the men's and women's bath). If, like myself, you are onsen visiting to help with a mobility issue, you may want to think about this and perhaps stick to the indoor bath or open air private bath, or have your bath at a time when it is less busy e.g. late in the evening. However, there are solid handrails, and, with a little time, I managed the stairs.
- Yasuo (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very nice in newish dining room. We had a beautiful view while eating delicious food.
- Wenny (9/5): Superb - The accommodation is pretty. I especially like how we are given private dining room for alternate meals. But the buffet spread was the same for the two nights i stayed. The onsen is nice, but the men side has a better view of the waterfall and they dont alternate the onsen for both genders. The onsen also attracts a lot of butterflies, moths, bees etc. If you are lucky, you can see giant white moth on the wall of the onsen. The location is a little far from the nearest bus stop but they offered free shuttle to the higashiyama and bukkeyashi bus stop. You can use the shuttle anytime you want by just calling the hotel reception. In the morning at 10am, there is also free shuttle to the station. Do check the schedule with them.
- Yi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elisa (10/5): Absolutely amazing - The Location with the River/Forest view was amazing
The staff was really friendly and the food beautifully aranged and delicious Nothing bad to say
- Yedidya (10/5): Amazing onsen hotel for a reasonable price - Amazing place, we loved the private onsens so much that we booked another one immediately after finishing the first one. The staff was very nice and accommodating, we are both vegetarian and they made us a special dish without being asked. The room was big and well equipped.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Alvin (9/5): Superb -
- Larry (10/5): - The entire facility was beautiful. Even though the staff spoke very little English, they were extremely helpful and kind to us. The food at the restaurant was also delicious! The staff there were so amazing and walked us through everything.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No air, no dinner! Lack of fresh air: extreme small room with non-opening windows. Be aware: if you have no reservation for dinner that means you will eat from your backpack in that hotel - no previous information about this fact. Bonus: the staff just did not really care. Of course there are not plenty of restaurants around... Bad experience, very overpriced place!
- Ed (10/5): Walking and easy bus loop access to sights - Hirosaki is interesting place to visit. Hotel in good locate. Free shuttle to train station.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful experience. Staff service outstanding. Private bath soothimg. Food met or exceeded expectations in quality, variety, and volume. Room was comfortable Japanese style, with lovely view of canyon and river. Recommend whole-heartedly, although Western guests should strive to understand hotel is very accomodating but Japanese style for beds and meals. That is what we sought and found. Very happy experience.
- Kevin (8/5): Relaxing times at a semi-traditional ryokan - I really like the location of this hotel/onsen. It's right on the river and you can hear and view it as you soak in the onsen or as you're enjoying tea in your room. The staff tried their best to help us in english. Between that and Google we were able to figure things out. The only disappointment is that meals were included but we were never told that we had to reserve and same day reservations are not permitted. Unfortunately cause I had heard really good things about their restaurant. We had to settle for a meal at the bar which was lacklustre. But otherwise everything was great and yukata as well as all toiletries and slippers are included. Staff is very polite and professional.
