• Fred (9/5): The stay was satisfactory. - The on line reservation system is very diffacult to navagate. The online requirements seemed unnecessary and complicated. The online custermer service is unresponsive. This booking system is ridiculous.
• Elizabeth (4/5): Shady and unethical - Location was perfect for the State Park. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean. A/C worked great. We were locked out at 7:30 AM. All the phone numbers listed in the welcome email were either the wrong number or disconnected. Apparently, the company was sold a year ago, and all numbers listed were for the previous owner. It was extremely frustrating. It is also unethical. If I was a diabetic and had my insulin in the refrigerator inside, this could be a matter of life and death. And it was not an isolated incident. The couple staying in the room next door were also locked out. I am considering contacting the Better Business Bureau. The 3 staff members we did interact with when they were at the facility (which was not very often) were pleasant and helpful. But to be locked out of a room and not have anyway to reach the management or staff is totally unacceptable! Also, toilet would not flush properly and we had to continually use the plunger.

• Laura (9/5): This was a clean room with a very comfortable bed and close to everything we wanted to do but it seems a bit pricey to m - It was in town and close to what we wanted to do. No hair dryer. No coffee pot. Small shower with no shelf to put shampoo or soap on.

Overflowing dumpster within feet of room. The foam mattresses did not fit the bed frames. Absolutely no charm, not a single redeeming quality.

• Ann (7/5): Decent place to stay - It was close to the state park where we planned to hike. The ice cream at the attached ice cream was delicious with generous portions. The staff were nice and helpful. There were separate heating elements in the room and bathroom, decent toiletries and comfortable bed. There was no coffee pot in the room or in the hall where coffee items were set up (we left at 8:30 am so it could have come later), no hand towels or bathmat in the bathroom, the bed was pushed up against the wall, so the person on the inside had to crawl over the other person or scooch down to the end of the bed to get out and the curtains were sheer. One window had plastic blinds behind the curtains, but not the other one. We stayed in room 8 A.

• Victoria (4/5): Nope nope nope - The proximity to places was great. No need to drive unless leaving the area. I did like the fact that I got a message with my room number and code. The place had a feeling that drug deals would be happening when it got dark. The room looked as though it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The towels had hair on them(glad I brought my own). The bathroom is very very tiny, the bed felt lopsided, no shampoo in the shower but 2 bottles of conditioner and thin walls. This place needs to shut down temporarily and remodel. I’ll stay elsewhere if I ever visit the area again.

We left after 10 minutes . Never folks. Never. I rarely write reviews. I felt a moral obligation to write this.

• Nicoleen (6/5): Homey clean small rooms but noisy - Lovely quaint old fashion atmosphere. Clean small rooms with clean bedding and towels. Easy to understand instructions for the keyless entery into the room. Thin single windows that allowed all the traffic noise from the main road in. Noisey heating system that frequently switched on and off, not providing sufficient heat to the one room. Window coverings where broken. Can hear loud talking neighbours late at night.

• Barbara (5/5): - The location was great, with walking distance to downtown. Although new to me, the online check-in worked well. We liked the layout with a guest area in the front building. The room was clean. We were disappointed with the quality of the room. It felt unfinished with nothing on the walls. It appeared that a wall mirror may have been removed with the screws still in the wall. The overhead light in the room didn't work and a floor lamp had been brought in. The bathroom was extremely small and finishes/repairs were a poor DIY quality. The heat didn't work. The on-site staff did give us a space heater. The walls between our room and the guest room next to us needs soundproofing. The mattress on one of the bed frames was too large for the frame...I think this is an adorable Inn and has the potential to be a very enjoyable stay.

Window wouldn’t close, sits on noisy highway, and the TV was broken It is way over priced for what you get. Towels and sheets were nice if you don’t mind sleeping on an extremely soft mattress.

• Holly (7/5): The hotel was great for location and walking distance to most things. It wasn’t the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed - The location to everything was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. The price was just great for what we needed. The bathroom was very small. The office was closed and there was no ice cream available during our stay. It didn’t truly matter but it was disappointing and would have been nice to know it was not open during our stay.

My room was switched and the air conditioning was broken in that room. Both rooms smelled very musty. I ended up after one night on what was a wedding anniversary trip with my wife. Watkins glen is a nice town and beautiful place. I would recommend avoiding staying here
• Lee (6/5): I don’t want to stay there again next time. - Easy to access, close to the state park and the lake. Good location. It was noisy with trucks passing all day and night. There is no employee to guide the guests and they can be at a loss easily about what to do and I got a lots of questions from coming guests while relaxing at the living room area.
• George (4/5): - We didn’t expect a fantastic hotel for the price, but we were disappointed by a doorknob coming off, a broken cabinet drawer, and their free wifi would not come up for my wife and I. The AC filter was also filthy and we had to clean it before using the AC. The location is right in the middle of town, and check in and check out is super easy, so that was the hotel’s saving grace.

We had no way to communicate that we had multiple problems (toilet, tv, lights) with our room. I was not able to leave a message with the phone number that was provided, email and text didn’t work. Finally, spoke with someone who was rude and condescending. A bad experience overall. But the free ice cream (which was good) at the on-site creamery helped us feel a little bit better. LOL

• Peter (2/5): - Television did not work. Staff was unable and frankly didn't care about fixing the problem. No housekeeping. No paper products (i.e.- toilet paper in bathroom, etc), 2nd day in... No electricity. Had to threaten filing complaint w/ local police in order to try yo attempt to do anything about that. Manager would not offer to put us in a different room. Staff so uncaring that we decided to leave and find another place to stay for the rest of our trip. Manager also runs an ice cream parlor downstairs. Has a nearly impossible job of trying to run that AND run a hotel at the same time. Problems I suspect with the whole building. Owner is offsite and not a part of day to day operations. In talking with some of the locals, I suspect this is an ongoing kind of thing eith this place. Would definitely recommend you DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT COLONIAL INN & CREAMERY. You'll likely regret it.
• Natalia (8/5): - Location and friendly staff. Contactless check-in. I didn't receive message about my room number and code. We were in trip and we didn't have Wi-Fi.
• petermalbert (2/5): Big disappointment - When we got there we had to wait to get our code for our room since it's keyless. Manager also runs the ice cream parlor downstairs, so we had to wait till she had time to help us. This is a big problem because she is trying to run an ice cream parlor AND a hotel at the same time. When we finally got settled in to our room, which was old, dirty, and outdated,we discovered that the TV didn't work. The next morning when we went to find someone to help fix that, the only one available was a teenage employee at the ice cream parlor, who tried the remote, but couldn't fix. He said that the owner was supposed to order new boxes for the TVs in the hotel, but decided to cancel that. So, we were expected to be okay with the TV not working. The backbreaker came the next day when after being out for a while we came back yo our room to find no electricity. None of the lights worked or anything. We complained to the person working in the ice cream shop, (since there was no one else). We threatened to file a complaint with local police. They got the manager down there fast. She tried explaining that there are problems sometimes and that we were being unreasonable about this. I responded "Yes, but no electricity? That's a big problem." She got an attitude and said she wasn't going to talk about this with me anymore. I said" Well, this is why we're leaving." She responded. "YES, you should leave then." Which is what we did, and found a much better and more reasonably priced play to stay for the rest of our trip. No housekeeping, no TV, no electricity. Old rooms needing update and repair. The owner is off site and not involved with daily operations. Staff is unconcerned with guests needs and unhelpful if you can even find anyone. Would definitely NOT recommend.
• Eeshan (2/5): - The room was dirty. It smelled horrible and was just beside the dumpster. There was noone at the reception. A phone number was provided to call for help, but noone picked up. The bed was broken.
• Jose (2/5): - What they call contactless checkin means there is no staff, no front desk, no way to contact them. They provided several phone numbers that nobody would answer and was not set up to accept messages. We left a day early because we could not sleep on the broken bed again, rugs were filthy and constant black flys flying around, grounds were not kept up, very cramped room, just could not look past so many things not to normal standards…
• Donna (4/5): Disappointed, we paid for 4 nights and expected a better situation! - There wasn't breakfast, though we assumed that there would be! The creamery with good ice cream made on the premises was nice, we got one free, The room we were assigned to was on the second floor, stairs were difficult to climb with luggage, old and not full size steps which made it even harder. Our room faced the street so we heard the noise of the the trucks and semi trailers and also got the street lights in our room. Though we said we were in our 70's (76 and 73) we were told that there wasn't a room available to change! Our bed linens and towels weren't changed or garbage thrown out. The coffee machine downstairs wasn't working properly and also the cold water was out of order. I believe we should be offerred a partial refund. The room was ordered 6 weeks earlier for 4 nights!
• Bradley (6/5): - Near State Park. Watkins Glen. Check In was terrible. You need code to get in room that I never received. Took 30 minutes before owner with code finally appeared. Whose fault it was I did not get code is unclear. TV did not work most of the time. Other wise room was clean and recently fixed up. Property outside needs paint job on porch and stairs. Owner says she is fixing things now.

• Adam (7/5): The colonial Inn and creamery is a perfectly located, quaint little in right in the heart of Watkins Glen. - The property was quaint and kind of like a bed and breakfast. Great location and nice chairs to sit and relax on the sidewalk Checking in at night, the signs were not clear which made things confusing and difficult. The TVs is in the room were difficult to use. We bought ice cream every day at the creamery, which was absolutely delicious only to find out on the last day that guests at the inn were entitled to free ice cream once a day.

• Frances (4/5): - Very disappointed in this place it seemed like no one really care that you didn’t have a TV. How could you pay for a room and say that you have a TV but don’t have a TV. Also, how could you have a room that doesn’t have a single coffee maker in there to be able to make a cup of coffee in the morning. They say that you can go to the lobby when you go to the lobby they don’t even have The things to make a cup of coffee no creamer. No one around my room was by a dumpster loaded with flies and smell this stay ruined our whole trip to the finger lakes really and no one was around to help you. They left us two towels for all of the days that we were there a bunch of little ones, but only two big ones It really was not a good experience. Really rundown nothing available to you feel like I wasted my money.

Room was not stocked, no clock, no kleenex, shower was awful, could not mainframe a temperature. My husband had a C-Pap machine and could not access a plug, the night stand on his side of the bed had a lamp, with NO bulb, and no plug available. No nightly/daily service to red up the room or refresh towels. Location was good with access to the town, lake and park. Would absolutely go back to Watking Glen, but NOT this hotel.

• Kristin (8/5): Charming with quirks - Charming with quirks. If anyone in the inn uses a toilet while you are in the shower, your water will turn scalding hot. This is a great location.

The room was super clean and kind of a big room. After check-out, we stopped by ice cream store and got free ice cream as hotel guests (free single scoop ice cream for hotel guest)!! Also, location is amazing. We went to Watkins Glen Gorge walk from the hotel which was only a few minutes away. (Park parking is $10/vehicle). Only one thing I wanted to have in the room was a hair dryer. Other than that, it was perfect location and amazing hotel!

But wouldn’t recommend Colonial Inn - The location There was no cable for 2 nights (which I think we should get a little refund back cause that was one of the amenities and so was the coffeemaker). The beds were uncomfortable you can feel the springs on the beds the coffeemaker wasn’t working and there was no way to contact anybody they give you phone numbers in case of anything but they never answered the phone the housekeeping lady was very nice

• Anita (7/5): Our stay was comfortable and relaxed. - This old Inn was very homey and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for the activities we had planned. We will return again..staff said they were going to remodel and update in the fall.I hope they don't take away all the old charm of the place. Nothing. The only thing I suggested to the manager was putting non skid straps in the bathtub.

• Todd (6/5): Love the location and the amenities it offered, as well as location to Watkins Glen International. - Convenience to all the amenities was excellent. Would stay here again just because of this, but would really rate this higher if the below was addressed. The Wi-Fi wasn’t working at all. Couldn’t get signal majority of the stay. But when we could, it was very weak and often not working at all or would disconnect. Also, the TV never worked, even after following the directions on the tv. We don’t have a lot of time in the room, mainly in the evening after a full day out, but didn’t have any way of watching tv if we wanted to.
