Guest Reviews
- Ruth (10/5): - This is a very good place to stay very relaxing and conform, the view is espectacular, staff are very friendly.
- Lewis C. (2/5): Location of Property Erroneous - VRBO listed location of Vista Verde as being in Tronadora, Costa Rica. A man at the information center who had lived all of his life in Tronadora said no such business nor address had ever existed there nor anywhere near there. We are requesting a return of funds paid for our 3-day stay at Vista Verde.
- Francisco S. (6/5): Excellent attention, a bit too far away from Monteverde - Property was okay, host was absolutely incredible. The hotel needs an upgrade; location? Great view of Arenal volcano, but a bit too far from Monteverde.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Amazing hospitality, top of the world, isolated in nature but roads to the Lodge are very difficult & dissaude guests.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exceedingly charming, great views, little hiking trail, friendly dogs, accommodating staff, breakfast and dinner were included, wifi in the lobby (but not in the rooms)! Lots to love. The rooms themselves were sufficient, and had great windows, no frills, just a place to sleep.
- Richard (10/5): Cloud Hideaway - The stay at the lodge was very nice , the manager and staff were always looking for my comfort , the scenery was beautiful and very quiet , also two very good hiking trails
- Jennifer (10/5): - I highly recomend staying at Vista Verde Lodge! Gustavo and the staff were so friendly and made us feel at home! The banana pancakes are so delicious! The property is absolutely gorgeous! There are views of Arenal volcano and lake that take your breath away! We can't wait to bring our family back to Vista Verde Lodge!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing view!! - Very nice staff, excellent homecook meals, view is stunning...would go back!
- Pat (4/5): Was not open - Arrived on an unacceptable road. No one there. Found a cook in the kitchen making dinner for her daughter who, with sign language and broken English ( we unfortunately do not speak (Spanish) that closed and we should go.
- Meghna (8/5): Decent cabins; very friendly staff - A decent place to stay. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We got to the hotel after their kitchen has closed, but they were kind enough to accommodate us and cooked a hearty dinner for us. Its close to selvtura park and sky adventure, but a 20 min drive to downtown. The road up to the hotel is a dirt road.
- sanjay (6/5): Lodge in cloud forest! - No hot water at all! Water leaked under one wall from outside. Beds were big and comfortable. No real furniture besides beds. Access to lodge is one if the most terrible road I have ever driven! You are better off staying at regular hotel in Monteverde.
- Edward (8/5): Beautiful views at one with nature! - Manager is very nice and did everything to make our stay
Pleasant.
He helped with transport and booking tours and even helped us get home to guanacaste as we were let down by shuttle company. The hotel is having maintanence as we speak which should help as is in need of it. It is a 15 dollar taxi to saint elena but near to Selvatura and manager dropped us there for an excellent day !!Beautiful view of Arenal lake and volcano and a nice breakfast. Thanks eulogy for looking after us. See you again soon Ted and Emma.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect alternative to the usual Tourist Trail - Rustic no-frills hotel with the best view in town (Well, out of town!) The staff are friendly and will cook a lovely meal for dinner if you want. It's a few kilometres from the main town and we found the road bumpy but easily accessible with a 2WD car. The location may be too remote for some, but that's what interested us in the first place! Being up in the mountains you will need a jacket to stay warm at night, but the beds are warm and comfortable. Conveniently located near to the Santa Elena Reserve and several zip lining companies, plus they also have their own jungle trails to explore. The WiFi is patchy, available only from the main dining room/reception area and requires some patience. Our bathroom was clean, and the water hot enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the location! Rooms were clean, staff helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): If you want it take it - Its a very special youthhostal standard, with a marveles viewing at the Arenal
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very disappointed - Where do I start. The room. If you show pictures of a nice bath tub, it would get nice if there was hot water to actually use it. No heat in the room. We literally had to stay in bed to stay warm. No place to sit and enjoy the view should you happen to see it so a small table and chairs would have been nice. No wifi in the room we were in. That was not a big deal but should be clear in the listing. In the main lodge, if you have a wood burning stove that is used for heat, use it. You should not be able to see your breath while seated at breakfast.
- Phillip (6/5): - Nice Staff Building is beginning to get run down, there was no hot water this was a nature mountain top trip for wildlife. I am happy we did not book more than the one night
- Verified traveler (8/5): Rustic Cabin experience with a Cloud Forest View! - Our Host Eulogio and his Lovely Wife were Gracious and eager to please as was their staff member Francisco and his Friendly dog Sasha! They made arrangements to the Sky Trek Zip Line nearby and to the amazing Morpho Restaurant in town not far away, and to our shuttle pick up the following morning! The Lodge reminded me of our Mountainous home and cabin adventures in Colorado!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - VERY far away from town on a sketchy dirt road. Great for getting away but not if you want to eat at restaurants or participate in local activities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): nice hotel in cloud forest - Small hotel located remotely in the could forest. It is run by a very friendly local family who prepares a nice breakfast and an optional nice local dinner.
As this hotel is located in the cloud forest, don't expect a beautiful view at all times. We had two days of fog with no view at all and then it cleared off and there was a great view. However the experience was great to be in the middle of the nature!
To access the hotel I think a 4WD is recommendable. You might be able to reach it with a regular car, but it is a gravel road with rocks and holes. Especially once it rained I was glad to have 4WD and would not want to get stuck at night in the middle of nowhere.
