Guest Reviews
- Michael (6/5): Great location and breakfast but room comfort can be variable - Great location as easy to visit the North Norfolk area. Great breakfast with very high quality produce. The lounge area is fantastic, decorated in art deco style. The small double we were allocated had a bed which was so soft you wern't sleeping on the matress, but the base underneath. The manager at the time just dismissed my complaint. She did not even come and look at the problem I was complaining about. Even though they were rooms available (albeit at a higher price) I was only offered those as an upgrade, not because the original room let us with bad backs following a very bed night. However, later that day I saw another member of staff who did come and see the problem and saw it was so bad he thought the bed was broken and he did offer us an upgrade for a small increase.
The original manager should have come to look at the issue without just dismissing it.
- Signy (9/5): Highly recommended - The location, ambience were excellent. The staff were exceptional. Polite and helpful. The bed we had could do with an up grade.
- Jayne (8/5): I would recommend the Beechwood hotel and would certainly stay again. - The staff were excellent - friendly and professional.
The breakfast was delicious: some lovely, seasonal soft fruits to complement a good range of cereals, yoghurts and juices, and an excellent cooked selection My room was very small, though it had a marvellous, deep bath.
There was an extremely noisy fridge in the room. It kept a very small jug of milk and one bottle of water chilled. A fridge out on a landing, serving several rooms at a time would be more practical, and release some much needed space.

Hotel location on quite road. Had a problem with room heating, but this was soon resolved by hotel staff.
- Alexander (10/5): A very traditional first class hotel. 5 stars to the all department of this beautifully run hotel - Service was like first class. What a fantastic experience from start to finish. A truly unforgettable experience a standard a lot of other hotels could learn a lot from. Nothing.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Jen (10/5): Not had service like this in years. I wish all hotels offered this level of service! - The service was incredible. A little outdated.
- Anil (8/5): Good - Breakfast in lounge area with pet Would like more affordable options for dinnet
- Jon (9/5): -
- Simon (8/5): Lovely hotel, great staff, great food. - The hotel is spectacular. The decor and main customer areas are clean, comfortable and very tastefully thought through. There is a lovely rear garden and 2 ev charging points. Also there is an Agatha Cristy connection. It’s an interesting place.
We enjoyed fine dining on our first night. We both chose the Halibut for our main course and differing deserts. These meals were exceptional and although priced accordingly we thought this was fairly reflected in the quality. We also enjoyed breakfasts on both mornings. These were also very good. Unfortunately for this review we had quite a small room. It was adequate but not special. The bathroom was tiny and the mattress had no side support. The hotel had done their very best with the room but it was tight on space.
- Caroline (8/5): Nice hotel just not for me - It's a nice hotel. Clean and well presented The bed mattress was worn and too soft. The hotel is very formal and clearly very popular with pensioners which personally is not an environment I enjoy. You can only eat at set times and in the dining room
- Torben (10/5): A very relaxing, professional, and peaceful place to go and visit and stay, which is our dearly placed to branch out to - Great period facilities, excellent food, staff with exceptional politeness and in keeping with the period Hotel. The gardens are very peaceful and great to sit in. I like to think about this hotel I wouldn’t want to improve anything
- ANTHONY (10/5): Booked at last minute needed hotel in that location. - Breakfast was great but dinner was to die for
- Mark (9/5): - Just very lovely both staff and hotel Very comfortable felt like home
- Christine (9/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely friendly staff. Great breakfast. Clean room. The bed was a little bit too soft for us, otherwise everything was great.
- peter (10/5): Good, atmosphere - Very nice decor in bar and restaurant. Food very good ved very comfortable Nothing
- Vittorio (10/5): Very happy. - Nice room, large, clean and very well furnished.
- Kevin David Mark (10/5): -
- John (10/5): -
- Clare (7/5): - Location great just a two minute walk into town. Room was lovely with the four poster bed and a large clean bathroom. Nice touch with fresh ground coffee on offer and robes. Breakfast was poor, very cheap white bread used expected more for £10 per head
- Nigel (7/5): Nice hotel in a good location in North Walsham. - Nice hotel. Enjoyed staying at the Beechwood Nothing
- Patrick (8/5): Nice hotel well located for a visit to the Norfolk countryside. - Friendly and a good location Nothin in particular
- Wayne (10/5): Great hotel superb location with very friendly staff going the extra mile. - Brilliant Nothing
- Lynn (6/5): It is a nice place in a good location. Dog friendly. Not comfortable in hot weather. - Breakfast ok. Dinner super. Location good for me. The room was too hot all the time so difficult to sleep.
- Ian (10/5): I was in Agatha land and well taken care of! - Quaint old English country style
- Barnard (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Philip (10/5): Excellent staff and exceptional food - Excellent cooked to order breakfast. Single room was a little small
- Nick (9/5): Very enjoyable. - Very good breakfast, wide choice and nicely presented. Location good, quite easy to get to. Will book in good time next visit and request a larger room.
- Colin (8/5): Did the job. I like the hotel. - Breakfast was fine. Location was good because I was going to an aunt's funeral in Meeting House Hill & visiting maternal side relatives. It has been spruced up a bit since I last went & is well furnished. Sound proofing not perfect but as guests all looked elderly, it didn't translate into much of a problem. Some guests drove me demented at breakfast holding loud banal conversations with one another across their tables within unavoidable earshot but most people like that sort of thing so probably not a problem for other guests.
- William (8/5): Enjoyable country house stay. Nice staff. - Are deco type of furniture with historical photographs. A country house type of hotel. I thought the dining and breakfast procedure was quite relaxed. This was in keeping with our stay. You’re given a time to choose for your dinner and breakfast, so 4 slots per hour spread over 3 hours. This helps their chef prepare the food, which was excellent and gives you a relaxed feel to eating. There was no crowding into the dining room and queueing. We liked this. The staff were friendly and polite local people. Not much to say
- Ratcliffe (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable room
Lovely staff
Excellent service
Super breakfast Shower cubicle was a little small
- Nicola (9/5): Wonderful stay - It was a proper hotel. The staff pampered. The food was exceptional.
The rooms were extremely comfortable.
- Fiona (10/5): A first class hotel with fantastic staff and delicious food. - Everything about the hotel was first class, the staff, food, art deco decor, location. Nothing
- Shin (7/5): A nice choice for short staying - Nice decoration and helpful staff Small bathroom and the toilet is outdated.
- Fosker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andreas (10/5): Extremely pleasent, polite staff with a very homely atmosphere. The food was amazing and service was first class! Would - I thoroughly liked everything about beachwood hotel. - Julie (9/5): A moment in time from a bygone era - I was greeted on arrival and that set the tone for My whole stay, the customer service was superb and the waiting staff were like actors on a stage! They were performing! and they were word perfect! Miss Marple would approve! I honestly don't think anything could have been better,I was spoilt!
- Des (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (9/5): Comfortable - Location was ideal for town. Very comfortable stay and excellent staff. Fresh milk in room fridges. Breakfast was extra if booked through booking.com
- Tarty1 (7/5): Good -
- Jo (9/5): Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. - Quaint, comfortable, staff were extremely friendly and helpful Nothing
- Shane (9/5): Superb -

- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional - Great in so so many ways, staff were great. Beds were so so comfy The bathrobes were dirty. That was the only issue!
- Roger (7/5): Good -
- Fletcher (7/5): Very comfortable - Helpful staff Heating could have been turned on in advance of our arrival
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Gwenneth (9/5): Lovely staff, comfortable room and great Art Deco furniture and decoration. - Location was good and suited our purpose. I chose something that was not on the menu for breakfast - tomato on toast. Simple, but I received a large half tomato that had hardly experienced any heat and was marooned on a piece of uninteresting toast. The options on the menu, however, were good.
- Bradley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denise (8/5): Fabulous time, friendly staff. - The location was excellent for our purpose of being there .It was only five minutes away as to where we needed to be, on that evening. The next mornings it was only ten minutes away to where we needed to be on the Sunday. The staff were all very pleasant too. The fact that we booked through booking .com for which meant we had to pay for breakfast.
Had we booked directly with the hotel we wouldn’t have had to pay for breakfast . Just a small niggle. Which is not with the Hotel but booking .com.ot whoever
- Sue (8/5): Pleasant hotel, friendly staff. Comfortable, would stay again. - Good

- Keiron (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was fantastic. Ask about the chainsaw sculptures. Bed super comfy, nice grounds.
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Jamie (1/5): A story worthy of a new episode of Fawlty Towers - A decent hotel, nice bar area and grounds. Kindly made a room available early for us to change into our wedding gear. Fawlty Towers level of management service. I had booked two rooms through Booking.com, the hotel said we had been assigned the large four poster bed for my son and myself and my wife a small room with a double bed. This was clearly daft, .....let's just swop, but they would not swop the rooms, so that the four poster room would be for my wife and I (which is what I had originally booked and the smaller room for my son) and threatened us with a £70 surcharge if we did it ourselves! Next morning, having obviously complained, the owner, yes, the owner (!) was in and she had exactly the same inflexible attitude, saying it was all to do with Booking, com that even as the owner she could not make a change! "Computer says no"!!
- Ken (8/5): Excellent dining and location - Excellent breakfast. Cooked and or choice of fruits, cereals, yogurts and pastries. Very good dining with excellent service. Lovely little appetizers while you wait. Good location to reach coastal resorts and places of interest. The way that one was informed on how breakfast and dining should be ordered and timed was way too precise and a bit robotic. In reality they are more flexible than they appear. When you are waiting in the ante room and then seated it felt that you were in a 1st class carriage and that conversing with other passengers was discouraged,
- Paulette (8/5): Very good - The room was lovely, clean& warm. I did like going into the garden but the summer house, where I sat and read was rather dilapidated.
- Graham (9/5): Lovely place to stay with very pleasant staff. - Perfect place. Staff and food was excellent.
- Isabelle (10/5): It was very relaxing and it was lovely to see the seals. - I did not have breakfast there. Maybe the lighting in the room. It would have been nice if all the light of the chandelier were working.
- Eileen (10/5): Excellent facilities kind courteous staff who I could not fault. - Breakfast was perfect, the chef menu was varied with a wide variety of choice, cooked to perfection. The buffet was fresh and plentiful and met my dietary needs Nothing at all.
- Jo (9/5): Lovely old hotel with excellent service and stunning decor. - This hotel was fab. Proper old school, with a turndown service offered and clock radio in the room, along with a fridge with fresh milk. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made. The garden was stunning and the service impeccable.
- Jones (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wingrove (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (8/5): A lovely traditional English hotel 😊👍🏼 - The hotel is clean, well maintained, in a very convenient location and the staff lovely. It is clear that the owners take pride in running Beechwood and we’d not hesitate to use it again. Our room was very warm because of where it was in the building, however, given our unpredictable weather I understand that installing aircon is not really practical and too costly.
- Ann (7/5): Comfortable hotel and helpful.staff. - Pleasant building and grounds and charming staff Limited breakfast slots which left.me with with the choice of 8am (too early) on Sunday morning or 9.45am (too late) as i needed to rejoin family at 10.00am.
- Lisa (10/5): Such a lovely place - Decor was great, excellent friendly service. Breakfast was superb Romantic was very hot but we did have a fan when we asked
- Geoffrey (5/5): Passable -
- Doug (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stancer (8/5): Good welcome - The staff were wonderful. The room was excellent. Parking was very good.
The welcome exceptional. Restaurant was lovely. The food was OK but vastly overpriced with much less taste than one might have expected. Bland might best describe it. Canapés tasted of cucumber and potato- dreadful.
