There is a kitchen but not one utensil, pot, plate, fork… nothing. We expected to be able to use the kitchen but couldn’t even make mac and cheese for the kids without a pot.
Terzo (4/5): Out dated, lack of supplies but great location. - Location was great There is no access to actually using the kitchen in the rental because you have to RENT all kitchen supplies. No pots, silverware, dishes,NOTHING. They provided one packet of DECAF coffee with no filter. Why advertise a kitchen if you can't use it unless you rent the supplies in it?

Not a big issue, however, would be nice if there were some dishes, pots/ pans and basic utensils in the kitchen area.

Eric (7/5): A nice place with a great view. - It was a nice place. You pay for the location, which is excellent. It was very comfortable with a great view. Sunrise was great. It’s a very short walk to everything, restaurants, bars, pier and beach. We had an upstairs, two bedroom room (#130) and the room was quite spacious. It showed a queen and a twin bed on the website, but there was also another little bed in a small room, and a fold out couch. So you could have slept 5 or 6 people if you wanted to. The room has a late check in at 4:00pm. I asked about getting an earlier check in, since they said the room was ready, but they wanted to charge me an extra $30 on top of the $350 I already spent on the room for one night. They also charge an additional $20 per day for a parking spot. The room has a full kitchen, but with NO dishes. Dishes are available at an additional cost The coffee pot did not work either. Which was disappointing in the morning. Overall, we still had a nice stay though.

Grace (8/5): Perfect if you like being close to the beach. - First & foremost, you’re steps away from the beach & that can never be beat! It makes dealing with the funkiness of the unit workable. Plus we love Capitola & staying in the village is the best! Being funky, the layout of each unit differs. Ours had the kitchen right next to the bedroom. A door muffled any sound but that’s just weird. Bathroom is small & tight in places. Kitchen supplies are virtually nil so be prepared to bring everything you may need to cook, eat, prepare with. You can rent a kitchen set for $30+ (was free once as was parking), parking is $20 per night but worth it for the convenience. We’d stay again, but I would call them ahead of time to get a unit I felt better in.

Right next to the beach I was trying to get early check in and on their website it said there was a $30 fee for early check in. I called a few weeks in advance and they told me to call back the day before to find out if our room would be available or not. Well I basically got the run around and tried calling back the next day which was the day of check in and no one answered the phone because they just switched to “contactless check in” So it would’ve been nice to know in advance if I was getting in to my room early. Also- on booking.com I didn’t see that there was a $20 parking charge so that was another fee we were hit with
STEPHANIE (9/5): Just perfect! - The location is perfect, you can walk all of Carmel including the beach, restaurants and shops. The price was great considering the location being directly on the beach with its own private parking and beach access. The room did not have a ceiling fan in the bedroom. I sleep hot so that would have been nice.

Watched the sunrise over the beach, from the balcony, in the mornings. 2 bedrooms (one very small), and an extra bed in the living area. Full kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave. The only reason I didn't give more stars is the kitchen only had 4 mugs and 4 cups. NO plates, bowls, or silverware, No pot or pan, no utensils. That is a miss. What good is a kitchen without a minimal set of dishes?

Amazing staff really saved our vacation. Cute place, definitely old-school but it worked for us! I understand why they charge rental for kitchenware and if we'd intended to stay there, we would've brought our own, but that part was a bit of a downer.

We were compensated 20.00. We have stayed here before and had no issues. It is a wonderful location, fabulous views, but this room needs repairs. We will not return.

K (3/5): - Nice location, clean, spacious, albeit funky, rooms, pleasant staff. We chose the unit because it had a kitchen. When we arrived, we discovered that there were no dishes or utensils of any kind, other than coffee cups and water glasses so we had to buy paper plates and plastic utensils to cook and serve our food. The water had an unpleasant smell and taste so we had to buy drinking water. The bathroom surfaces were covered with black, grainy dust (exhaust fallout?). The TV remote was non-functional (?dead batteries?) Parking cost extra in an area with no overnight street parking. Not great for $425/night.

Kenneth (6/5): - For this hotel, you are only there for the convenience to the beach, which is very convenient. You are literally a few steps from the beach. But that's it. There is no cooling at all: no a/c, not even ceiling fans. It gets very hot in the room. The noise is unbelievable from the main street right next to the hotel. And the beds are very small and very uncomfortable. My wife and I barely fit on the bed without any room to move. It has a small kitchen which is nice but the heat is too much. The rooms are old with some remodeling but at least ceiling fans would help alot. and one of the beds is in the living room. The room was ocean view, but barely since there is another hotel right next to it that blocks most of the view. The price you pay is just for the location. I would not stay here again.

But of course the best thing about it is the view and being right on the beach. I mean, that is just totally awesome. That’s why it’s the best place to stay if you’re gonna be in the area because otherwise you’re just in a glass box at least here when you open the glass sliding doors in the window You are at the beach and it’s a wonderful feeling

David (2/5): - It was convenient to park your car for the weekend and never have to get back in it until you go to leave. The shops and places to eat and the beach are right there so that is convenient. The reason I give a one star or terrible is because the beds are so bad that you can’t sleep. I ended up sleeping on the couch two nights. The shower is way too small and you bang your head and elbows off the shampoo and soap dispensers.

Grandson fished off pier with rented pole. Water rentals nearby. Dont need to drive anywhere. Not a deal breaker, but no bath tub for bathing small child. Only shower.

Kitchenette with big fridge and freezer. We were given a dirty room at first but quickly relocated to another clean room. TV signal was down for 1 day during our stay.
Mark Hanes (8/5): - we liked the location; we were only a 3-minute walk to the beach. Free parking, all the dining & shops were about a 10-min walk. Our favorite restaurant to eat was about a 10-minute walk. The bed in our room was rather difficult for us. (we're seniors). The bed was sitting a bit high & we needed a stool for my wife. The bed was also against the wall on one side, so you were only able to get out of bed on one side. I'm pretty sure there were other rooms that would have been more suitable for someone in our age group. But we Loved the area we were staying. I would recommend staying here.
Swagato (6/5): - Excellent location. Understandably this is not an upscale property and the main value is in its location. But I think there are a couple of easy fixes to improve the customer experience a lot. We stayed in Room 141 - the blinds don’t work fully and being right next to the parking lot and the walkway it is hard to sleep. Some real blackout curtains would be very helpful. Another problem is in hot summer days there is no effective cooling. One of our bedroom had a ceiling fan and that runs extremely slow and is ineffective, the other bedroom had none. We called the office and asked if there are tower fans. There was none - I think adding some modern functioning cooling options to the guest rooms will greatly improve experience.
JOSE (6/5): Expect more! - The best thing is that it’s close to the beach but our room was ready close to six pm instead of 4 pm as there was only one housekeeper working on a Monday holiday weekend which is weird! TV didn’t work for channels or on demand and it’s an old tv model which doesn’t give you access to your Netflix account, other thing is the noise from the upstairs room you can pretty much hear any steps from guests upstairs, I usually don’t complain but for the amount I paid I was expecting more I guess!

Thomas (4/5): Hotel Staff SUCKS! - First they do not answer thier phone! Could not confirm reservation or unit as requested. Then poor attitude from staff in giving customers any time at counter. Room was below sidewalk so every foot step was heard. There was a metal gate attached to the room wall that clanged LOUDLY with every public and resident who walked through ALL NIGHT LONG.

Verified traveler (4/5): Anniversary weekend - This is not a hotel, it’s more like a motel 6. Definitely not worth $300+ per night. Arrived and checked in Friday. Went to our room 136, which had not been cleaned yet. We had to return to the office and wait for them to call about 30 minutes later. The way the bed is set up in room 136, my husband to climb over me to get out of the bed. Just a weird set up and cob webs in the ceiling, the toilet rocked when you sat on it. Just gross honestly. Expedited more for the price. Location is great that’s about it.

We parked in the lot and never used our car again for the entire long weekend! The main office can be difficult to contact when calling about your reservation. They don’t answer the phone and don’t always return calls.

It is perfect for access to the beach, food and shopping. The room is run down. There was black mold in the shower. The parking is awful. Didn’t help that staff blocked cars from getting out because there was no place for them to park. If you’re gonna block my car in then don’t charge me for parking.

For the price and for having a kitchen I didn’t appreciate the nickle and dime approach of charging extra for utensils and something to cook with. The expectation when there is a kitchen is there are also plates and forks.

Judelyn (8/5): - The initial impression was, it was okay. Parking: it was tricky where to park, you have to go and call them once you’re there to lift the boom barrier. Staff: the front desk was real nice. She’s at the very front with the really tiny office. Cleaners are available only upon request. Room: there was an initial smell when you first go in and maybe you get used to it you don’t really smell after a while. It is not a bad, bad smell, more of the building having been flooded as well as being old. Having a kitchen was great. They have stove, coffee maker, toaster, microwave. Bring your own cooking pans if you plan to cook. No plates but coffee mugs and cups are available. Restroom was small but functional. Convenience: Close to the beach, close to the restaurants. We loved walking around and going back to the TINY HOUSE as we called it. We didn’t care for a perfect room just because we stayed out most of the time and only really came in to rest and sleep. IT’s GOOD if you don’t care so much about having too fancy of rooms.

Andrea (2/5): - The location was nice as it was beachfront access in Capitola Village. The room was not quite as described, lacked in proper bedding for the number of people it could sleep. There is a kitchen, but did not provide any kitchen pots, pans or dishware without an additional charge. They also also charge for additional parking $20.00 a night for each vehicle. This would be quite expensive extra charge for multiple groups. There are only 2 rooms. Listing makes it look like you have 4 rooms.
