Guest Reviews
- Rob (10/5): -
- Keith (10/5): Lovely B & B - The staff were excellent friendly and professional, the b & b was so clean, breakfast was tasty and cooked to perfection. Good to have on- site parking Nothing.
- Emily (9/5): A little gem, perfect for the open air theatre. Will book again in the future. - Perfect location for the open air theatre and to explore Scarborough, everything within walking distance. Rose Dene itself is a little gem, tastefully decorated and with all the amenities you could need. Gillian is lovely and welcoming and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. Shower is nice and powerful. Bed is very comfy. The lady who serves breakfast (sorry never learned her name) is lovely. Only a couple of suggestions - a more powerful fan would have been welcomed as it was very hot when we stayed. Also a mini fridge for keeping drinks cold would be great.
- Malcolm (8/5): -

- Power (9/5): - Good breakfast. Satisfied. Small room, but ok.

All one could want with starter full english plus toast and jam and yoghurt. Great location for me staying for the cricket festival which was short walk . Highly recommend as value for money
- Yvonne (10/5): Fabulous place to stay - Friendly atmosphere, pleasant and cheerful service and helpful staff. Seagulls we're relentless but that's no one's fault at all.

- Judith (9/5): Superb - Location , good service and breakfast, which was lovely, staff were very friendly, Gillian was very welcoming. No room service, having to make your own bed, wash cups and put your bin outside the door to be emptied.
- Marie (9/5): Superb - Really friendly host and Charlotte who helped at breakfast was adorable. Perfect for the open out theatre and easy to walk to South Bay and Spa. Parking at or on street not far from the property. Comfortable beds. Lively breakfast. Nothing to not like. It's a straightforward, clean, simple B&B, with better than average food and hosting. The breakfast coffee was too weak for us, but that is always going to be a matter of personal taste.
- Pitts (9/5): Superb - Been before so I knew what is was like and was just as comfortable and pleasant as then.
Clean and Staff are polite the breakfast was very nice aswell๐ Nothing ๐
- Wesley (9/5): Ideal for open air theatre - Excellent breakfast warm comfortable clean room
- Kevin (10/5): Great friendly hotel - Friendly staff, lovely breakfast and great location. Would definitely stay here again, hopefully very soon.
- John (8/5): excellent for concerts at the open air theatre. - breakfast was very good. location good for North bay, Bathroom needed a shelf for toothbrushes etc but this was a minor thing,
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Very good stay Notbhing
- Helen (9/5): Lovely stay. - Location excellent for the Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Lovely warm, friendly welcome. Excellent breakfast. Very pleasant stay.
- Elliott (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly clean comfortable and excellent breakfast although 8am breakfast may not be desirable to some, but fine for me. Definitely would return
- Foster (8/5): Great value for money - The lady who owns the property was friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean. Plenty of tea, coffee, etc. was provided, and the bed was really comfortable. There was a good choice of breakfast items which were tasty. The location was fantastic for the Open Air Theatre. The bathroom was a little on the small side.
- Jo (9/5): Lovely, would come again! -
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Hongling (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Staff are friendly and extremely capable. Breakfast was excellent and great value for money. Nothing
- Tracy (10/5): Fabulous, thanks again Gillian x - Stayed here a few times, always try to book here first. Clean, friendly and at the quieter end of Scarborough, though plenty of amenities. We were on the top floor this visit but as we booked at last minute we were lucky to get in.
- Mick (10/5): - Gillian was very approachable, helpful and knowledgeable about the area, good places to visit, good places to eat, etc. She provided delicious and filling breakfast.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Pamela (9/5): Good short break at a seaside town we have visited for years. Was nice to see new shops and bars - Breakfast and service were good - good choices for breakfast. Staff were polite and welcoming
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): My wife and I spent 8 nights at Rose Dene and could not fault how well we were looked after. Well do - Accommodation excellent.
Breakfasts excellent.
Manager Gillian very friendly and helpful
Location very good nothing detrimental
- Gareth (7/5): Good -
- Stuart (10/5): Motorcycle trip - Very homely place.lovely hosts
- Paul (8/5): Enjoyable - Everything was good,. I had an expectation ( probably unreal ) that a full Eglish breakfast included Black pudding and mushrooms . The provision of cotton wool box in bedroom was nice to have but not necessary . More milk for 2 days would have been appreciated as effectively limited the amount of Tea /coffee to one cup . Replenishing the contaminants daily would added enjoyment to our stay or to be told where we could obtain more milk would have been helpful. To be offered top up of orange juice would have been well received at breakfast time. Final comment which would be difficult to diplomatically encourage would be to put an note about TV use to say - Please be considerate to other quests and turn the volume lower after 11 pm OR remember to switch off the TV before you fall asleep as to do otherwise prevents others from sleeping as well as your own good self. Beyond that all was good and will return Nothing worth mentioning
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean b&b and attentive staff really helpful and would highly recommend would definitely stay here again next time..breakfast lovely Parking was an issue but not there fault.. was given a ticket ..it is free just finding a place nearby as on a busy road maybe a problem but don't detract from the experience don't let this put you off
- Pamela (9/5): Lovely BnB - Good food. Friendly hostess. Clean rooms. Rooms not serviced for stays of three days.
- Jan (8/5): Very good -
- Hayley (7/5): Good - Lovley staff, Great location, room was clean and comfy bed. Noise from the above room, we could hear every step. It was like the guest was doing a marathon round the room and was coming through the roof.
Plus, the bathrooms are extremely noisey when in use.
The curtains let in daylight due to quality and not lined or blackout. This is an easy fix to add black out curtains.
Made a good nights sleep impossible.
- Margaret (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Great stay, bathroom was very small - Great location Had 2 rooms, one of the bathrooms was very small
- Ken (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (7/5): Good -
- Adeola (6/5): Manageable - Proximity to Peasholm park, the theatre and the beach. The toilet seat was old, with stains running on both sides of the U bend. It will need a change to fit the modern design of the rest of the bathroom. The curtain also had stains.
Also, I have had more filling breakfast. The idea of breakfast included encouraged the booking, but I would have gotten better portions if I planned for breakfast in the shops.
- Fraser (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rainer (10/5): Lovely guest house with lovely landlady and staff - Lovely breakfast and service. Nothing too much trouble All was good
- Jasmine (9/5): So pleased we chose this property, it couldnโt have been better for our needs. - Comfortable bed with lovely linen.
Friendly helpful staff.
Delicious well presented breakfast.
Great location with parking.
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Homely and comfortable - Very homely Gilliam is very attentive friendly and thorough with the business. I enjoyed my stay
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic accommodation
Beautiful breakfast ๐
Very clean and tidy
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb - It was close to all amenities, a short walk to seafront
- Kay (8/5): Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Good location for North Bay. - The well-cooked and delicious breakfast was excellent and gluten free available. Service was also very good. The room was clean and comfortable. Within walking distance of Peasholm Park. Not enough parking available.
- Traverler60 (9/5): Superb -
- Jacolyn (10/5): Short walk to open Scarborough open air venue - The landlady was very accommodating , informative and concerned with your welfare
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - Great, and very accommodating!
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - Room, breakfast was great. Coffee, tea milk, biscuits, towels, toiletries & hairdryer provided
- Apophia (10/5): I'm all for staycations, so I'd recommend Rose Dene and visiting Scarborough. - Rose Dene is in an ideal location. From the station, it's not far to walk to or difficult to find. I received a very warm welcome! I particularly liked the option to remain in touch using a very straightforward messaging service throughout my journey as my train was delayed which could have meant arriving after check-in time. I also liked how the room I stayed in was for an individual person. It was a small, single occupancy and very cosy with everything you'd need in it. I slept like a log! I 'd recommed the full English. If you try this, please make note of how delicious the sausages are as they're from a local supplier! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by the local transport. It was very reliable. You can plan to leave your car behind (reduce your carbon footprint) and go as far as Whitby on the bus which takes a route with the loveliest scenery. You just have to plan your return journey so you don't miss the last bus getting back. I stayed for 4 nights. I wish I had had more time to stay for more days. It's worth a longer stay to take adavantage of seeing further afield, like the countryside for horse riding, hiking or visiting local farms open to visitors.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Sheena (10/5): Exceptional - Room excellent. Clean and tidy everything you needed.breakfast was good .owner very friendly and made you welcome . ..would definitely go back again There was nothing we didn't like
- John (9/5): Would recomend to anyone. - Nice room and very good breakfast.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly, clean room, gluten free breakfast option A little bit out of town but i knew that when booked
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Tony (9/5): Had a great week mon-fri staff very friendly will be back - Breakfast lovely location perfect lovely park on doorstep seafront five minute walk ten minute walk into town .shop a cafe and restaurant right across the road The only slight blip was the was the road busy at times during the day but not a problem at night
- Cheryll (10/5): Exceptional - comfortable, clean stairs
- Gail (9/5): Superb - Clean room with beautiful ensuite bathroom. Friendly staff.
- Arshia (10/5): Great B&B with Lovely People - the landlady and staff were super friendly and nice and
they genuinely wanted the guests to enjoy their stay.
- Antony (9/5): Nice - Breakfast was nice, you had choices if you wanted porridge you could not have full English though. Full English you only got 1 of each item but the sausage was nice. Tried scrambled egg on second morning and requested some more toast. Location was great for Peasholme Park or carry on walking down to North Beach. As it is the first time in a long while since we have used a bed and breakfast was not sure what to expect. on suite was a little tight but expected for a double room. In our room number 8 there was a foot board at bottom of the bed sticking up, if you are tall this may hinder your sleep.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Was in good situation for what we was supposed to be there for to see lewis capaldi at open air theatre but unfortunately we never got to see him as he pulled out day before The property was fine and staff very nice and welcoming breakfast was good just need to be on top of the cleaning as quite a lot of cobwebs and windows were very mucky
- Maurice (8/5): Everything was very good - Breakfast was excellent and it was a convenient base to explore Scarborough. Maybe a larger TV, but really, there was nothing to dislike.
- Jennifer (7/5): Went for a short stay to Scarborough and enjoyed our time there. - The breakfast was excellent, nothing was to much trouble. The double room we were in was a bit small for my liking. The shower cubicle was very small hardly room to turn round and no room in the bathroom to dry yourself in comfort without knocking something off one of the surfaces
- BARBARA (10/5): Best of the best! - Lovely room welcoming host great breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Our 1st visit but will definitely return.
- MARK (8/5): Friendly and cosy in Scarborough - Lovely hosts and a fabulous breakfast. Very clean and homely. Will stay again and have recommended to family.
- Dan (10/5): Rose Dean - Lovely room friendly warm welcome
- Donna (10/5): Cosy B&B just where you need it. - We only stayed one night for a concert at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Ideally located for the venue and Scarborough sea front.
Gillian and Michael were very welcoming, we would definitely consider staying here again.
- Kieran (10/5): - Good weekend, would definitely stay again
- Regina (10/5): - Clean and comfortable. Very friendly
- jenifer (10/5): - lovely stay convenient for everywhere
- Brian (10/5): Enjoyable stay at Rose Dene - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were well looked after by the staff - friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room and the breakfast were very good value for money. I would definitely stay at Rose Dene again.
